Had the worst experience with JR Furniture, I have PTSD after the humiliation and stress they put us through. I can't begin to express the amount of emotional trauma this purchase has cost us. It's been 2 years and yet nothing has been resolved. we paid extra for a warranty so we had coverage for the first year to return it and 5 years for repairs. They broke the first time I sat on them, mind you I am 120 and 4'4. As the team that set up the couches then left, my husband asked me to sit on the couch and see how the lumbar of the couch works and it broke right then and there. I called to have them fixed or returned and it took them over 8 months to come out and finally do something. They replaced the broken piece in the couch even after I said I wanted to return them because their quality is terrible. They told me they already ordered new pieces therefore that will not be possible. New ones came in and again they broke, almost the same time frame with the same problem. We contacted them again and it's been well over a year now and still hasn't been fixed or taken back. Mind you we call them on the regular and there's always an excuse why they weren't able to reach out. Like the employee was fired, the company is under new management so they will have to start the process. One of the most popular is to call back in 2 weeks if you haven't heard back. They sent a man named Gary to investigate the problem. He told me the problem was me because of my height. I have been diagnosed with X link, hypophosphatemia rickets I am not a midget nor a dorf. He had me show him how I sat down on the couch and stared pointing out how my height is the root of the problem. He said they had seen this before when small kids break couches and that is why the couch was broken. He had me go around sitting on the couches and see if they would break or if my height was making them imbalanced for about 20 mins reclining and getting off and on. I was half in tears and felt humiliated. The whole visit was about me and my disabilities not the fact that their couch broke the first time It was reclined. He would start by saying "I don't like to point fingers at customers, however" every time he was to blame me for the broken part. He brought me to tears and when I asked then why are you pointing fingers at me constantly, he started to head toward the door and said, "Well I have to go see another crazy lady because of JR Furniture". His choice of words was hurtful and very subject to my disability, not just humiliating me, but straight being discriminative to my disabilities relating me to a child... I highly doubt that a recliner can break the first time you sit in it because you are short. I called to make a complaint about how I was humiliated by their handyman Gary. When I told the manager Edward Lange what was told and what Transpired he blew up laughing "HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAH BUT THAT'S SO FUNNY " He stated "Let me call you back in the next 2 weeks" It has been about a month. I am sick to my stomach and shocked how a manager could find any of this remotely funny. I feel humiliated unheard and discriminated against. I can try and come up with excuses for Gary all day long but I can't come up with a single one for Edward! He has no business being in his line of work if you think any of this is hilarious. I got the most unprofessional and idiotic call from Big Sky Upholstery NW regarding the word choices Gary used and the blame game he played. The lady who called was Gary's MOTHER, she called on his behalf and told me that it was me who misunderstood him and that he would never say something like that, basically calling me a liar. "I know my son he would never say something like that, he knows how to talk to customers". Honestly, these couches are the worst thing I bought! I hate them and what they have over my head now. It is astonishing how disrespectful and disgusting all these staff members have been to me. They are avoiding their end of the deal. You're screwing me over for two years now dragging out something that could have been done in weeks. I have useless recliners in my house since about July 2022. I bought a table and chair set a month ago and it was delivered with damage to two chairs and one of the table legs. I called JR immediately and sent photos in an email. The parts were ordered that day but Ashley furniture wasn't passing along information on a time frame. I think it is important to pass along a time frame for a fix so the customer is not left waiting and wondering. I emailed JR several times and for the most part received a timely response. After four weeks of waiting they finally figured out a fix. I did find out that Ashley furniture wasn't going to get the parts they needed for my dining room set until June. That's when the decision was made to open up a set they had in stock take the pieces that needed so I didn't have to look at broken and scratched pieces. I think that decision should have been made earlier in the process. Especially when Ashley doesn't update JR on how long things will take. When you pay for someone to deliver the items, it is an expectation that they will take proper care of your purchase. The people that work in the store are very nice but this has been a very frustrating experience and would have to think twice about shopping here or at Ashley again. read more

Incredibly disappointed in my experience. I'm just now getting around to writing a review when I ordered my sectional almost a year ago now, having had it since late spring. I'm spread incredibly thin in my personal/professional life, and was inconvenienced beyond belief here, which added insult to injury. I know people who've purchased furniture here, including my parents and neighbors. I'm specifically familiar with Stanton, and was set on their products due to quality. I was replacing an oversized sectional with what I'd hoped was a smaller sectional with different configuration. I spent over an hour with Nancy, drew the configuration I wanted, and showed photos of my living room walls and chose a mottled fabric that married the two wall colors. This was a custom piece of furniture, and because of COVID, I knew there would be a delay in production and delivery. The facts: I paid 50% down with the remainder due once finished. I left with no confirmation of what was ordered (I assumed after an hour together it was correct). My neighbor's furniture was ordered after mine and delivered well before mine. My estimated delivery came and went with no update; I had to get rid of my present furniture to make space for this and didn't want to have to sit on pillows, so communication was important. I called for an update, and they said it would be another few weeks. They immediately called me back and scheduled delivery for a few days later (huh?). I went and paid the remaining 50%. No confirmation of order given at that time, either. I waited ~4 months. They attempted to deliver just a recliner. Refused delivery. Called me a few hours later with just a 10 minute delivery warning when no one was home any longer, and then the WRONG SECTIONAL was delivered. Wrong configuration, wrong fabric. The sectional legitimately juts out past my living room window. Why would I want that? The delivery company is a third party that you pay for separately, so they had to leave it. I've been stuck with it since. Point blank, I didn't get what I wanted, and paid way more than I should've for something "custom" that I'm not in love with. All of this nonsense, texting, going there just to keep having people telling me they need to talk to someone or look into it further. How about understanding this isn't what I waited 4 months for? Take this thing back so the roof can cave in on it and you can claim it on your insurance like you did with the rest of your Stanton furniture. I was dealing with a huge medical issue at the time, and just let it go, because I had other priorities and it was too exhausting to keep arguing about. Mark is the best! We came in to the JR Furniture on a Saturday looking for a couch and we were greeted right away. He worked with my husband and I and was very patient with me when I kept being indecisive with what I wanted. Then.... when we found out that we might not get our couch in time for the new house for when family was going to all come over - Mark totally pulled some strings and boom... our couch arrived in 1-1/2 weeks. I ordered a bed in Spring 2020 I have yet to receive the bed, and my attempts to get a refund have been completely ignored. I have even contacted the manufacturer, attempting to cut out the middle man. Nope. Don't shop here. Their staff will do anything for a sale--Including lie, cheat, and steal from their customers. This was my first time purchasing from an "adult" furniture store, not ikea or Amazon. The customer service (or lack there of?!) here was awful. My friend and I went in to look for bedroom furniture for her. All of the floor employees saw that she was a black woman so they sent a very senior employee to us that didnt know any answers to the questions that she asked. Plus, one item, that was in stock, could be delivered for the regular delivery fee. The other items couldn't be delivered for another month. The would charge her another delivery fee, even though it was from the same order. The other employees probably figured that he wouldn't make a sale anyway. What a joke of service. Order a Stanton sectional back in May with the claim that we would have it in 6 to 8 weeks. Here we are at 12 weeks with half a sectional as they sent the wrong size. After repeated phone calls, of which they never reached out proactively to let us know it won't be ready for another three weeks. It just keeps on getting worse and worse. We asked for them to come pick up the half of the sectional they had delivered and just refund us our money since it has already been 12 weeks. The owner said no through his manager and like the coward he is refuses to talk with customers. Really how do you run a business like this? Ended up getting out delivered and i could not believe how uncomfortable this couch was and all i was told was to give it a couple months to allow the couch to break in. I found furniture that I loved here; however, the delivery and the aftermath have been a nightmare. I bought my furniture in April 2018. All furniture was finally delivered by middle of June. I had to go through several exchanges because I kept Receiving broken furniture. Communication during this time from the store was non-existent. I had to check in repeatedly after set delivery dates came and went without furniture. What takes the cake is that I financed this furniture with their JR Furniture Wells Fargo card. I was charged in May 2018 when I received the bulk of the furniture. A mystery charge appeared on my Card in September of 2018. I did not buy anymore furniture. I was told it was because they "forgot to charge me". I compared the contract that I signed in April to the one they emailed me in September when I questioned this charge and I found that they ALTERED the total amount of the sale after I had signed the contract and left the store! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Altering contracts is shady business. And do not utilize Wells Fargo as they found in favor of JR furniture during the dispute; apparently altering signed contracts after the fact is an ok business practice according to them. read more

I felt bad for her because she really wasn't the problem here, it was their management (or rather lack of management). She offered to send out a new mirror and refund me back around $150. I said that would be fine and the next day yet another delivery company showed up with new mirror and drawers. Though it's been several years, what I remember about this place was the terrible management and the way the manager would not make right a bungled furniture delivery to my home. 2 identical pieces of the sectional were delivered without the accompanying section. He refused to have his delivery people return to deliver the correct piece of furniture I ordered and take back the wrong piece after I already paid for delivery!!! I ended up getting my own truck, moving out from my house and loading the duplicate piece and taking it back myself and hauling back home and moving in the missing piece. My boyfriend Thomas, having worked several years in retail and being quite introverted, hates having to deal with salespeople. We'd been shopping around at other furniture places, staying at each only very briefly because we weren't entirely sure what we wanted. Most places had salespeople who were disinterested when we weren't obviously going to buy anything right then or simply offered different couch colors. So when salesperson extraordinaire Michael at JR Furniture approached us asking if we needed any help, Tom cringed as I said "yes, we're looking for..." It turned out for the better, however, after Mike showed us a variety of couches that met our needs and gave us time to go home and think. Once Tom had sufficiently Googled all the things we learned from our salesman and found that not only was he extremely knowledgable but JR's prices were very good, we went back later that day and bought our very first non-IKEA couch. This is truly the worst customer service experience I have ever had with a furniture company. It is disappointing considering I bought a bed from the Hillsboro location 2 years ago and had a wonderful experience. The only reason I chose to buy from them in the first place. I purchased a queen bed that was part of their Labor Day sell and an awesome bed frame that was a "manager special" my total order was $680, which I paid via debit card. It was at closing time so I told them we could come back tomorrow or have it delivered and was told that it was no problem. I call the next day to ask for delivery, I am told it is $89 and doesn't include any setup just drop off. According to my sales guy, Ryan Bailey, the bed is super easy to set up and I won't even need tools so I agree. (Which was a lie, the bed has several screws and pieces that require actual tools.) Delivery goes well. Then I try to put the bed together and the footboard is missing and has been replaced by a completely different color piece. My partner call our sales guy Ryan Bailey and tells him that we are missing a piece, he tells us he will check into it and call us back. He doesn't call back. When we call again he promises that they will come tomorrow morning and put together the bed using the piece from the display. Tomorrow comes and no one ever shows, my partner calls and Ryan says he will call back. Ryan doesn't call back so my partner calls again, this time understandably frustrated as we wasted our day waiting for someone who never came. Ryan ends up hanging up on my partner and my partner calls back to speak with the manager. We requested them to pick up the whole order and refund our money. They refused but offered to send someone to drop off the piece. They also refused to refund the delivery fee. I have never felt so disrespected, especially when paying over $700 for service. I will never go to a JR Furniture again and will spread the word about the awful experience I had. I do feel as if my concerns for not receiving what I paid for were shrugged off since we are young and minorities, which also made this experience more hurtful. read more

They are supposed to assemble, but don't bring the tools to do so. On top of it all, they didn't show up until after 9:00 pm. DO NOT USE THIS FURNITURE STORE. Was so told their contractor would come and remove the rocking mechanism from my loveseat and I have yet to see or been contacted by him. I'm not one to place false accusations and blame where it isn't warranted, especially publically but, that is why I feel it is necessary to warn the General Public about JR Furniture of Gresham OR and the furniture manufacturer from Oregon, Stanton that JR Furniture sells. After months of shopping my husband and I finally settled on Stanton made sofa loveseats and chairs. We paid a decent amount as these looked and were portrayed to be of substantial quality. We also loved the idea of supporting local businesses rather than online, and purchased from JR Furniture of Gresham as our salesman pitched us on the false 7-year extended warranty that in the end covered nothing he promised. A lesson learned in reading the fine print never given. The extended warranty was not cheap either, but we loved the idea of it covering so many things while raising two kids you never know... Four years into owning our sofas the "bonded leather" material began to peel and flake on the back cushions of the sofas. Not even places you might assume from wear and tare. Mind you, we treat our possessions with respect and care to keep them looking new. We called our warranty company and they said it was not covered as NOT caused by us; ie: puncture from screwdriver, wine split on cushion, etc. I then called JR Furniture thinking it would be covered under company warranty as it was defective material and we had only had four years. After much convincing and complaining of a not only sorely represented but false as well, sold extended warranty, the manager from JR called Stanton and tried to get Stanton to repair the or replace the sofas as she knew I was going to get someone to take responsibility. They fell back on their one-year warranty policy which is horrible and should have sent red flags flying. To top that the sofa material we chose was discontinued. Coincidence? Probably not as it's obviously of poor quality. However Stanton did come up with a small amount of fabric to repair the two cushions at the time at our cost to the tune of $286. We then were able to work with Stanton to get them to agree to split the cost of repair. All this communication took a couple months of back and fourth and in this amount of time the other two cushions on each sofa began peeling as well. So now needed four cushions repaired and not just the two. Well Stanton no longer had material so our couches are now un repairable. Stanton felt they had no responsibility nor did JR Furniture. So here we are left out in the cold with two couches I couldn't even give away and have to keep throws over to cover up the horrible look of peeling material. Stanton's motto is "Designed to Inspire; BUILT TO LAST" Last for one year that is!!!!!! And JR Furniture backs themselves selling a warranty that covers nothing more than the spill from a glass of wine while their customer service is basically non-existent. read more

We purchased "italian leather" sofa and loveseat from the Gresham store. It was obviously defective. The cushions began sagging after sitting on it a couple times, the recliner portion hung down and the back covers didn't fit correctly. The leather was pretty but that's the only good thing I can think of to say. Within the first week, we asked them to pick it up, even provided them with photos that documented the defects, and they refused. It is now 9 months later and we need to throw out the furniture and start over. It is saggy, unattractive, and because it sags so much, it hurts to sit in it. Frankly, we're embarrassed to even have company over, it's that bad. I have never seen such poor, callous customer service in my life. We ordered a chair from them in November. They said it would be here towards the third week in December. OK we were fine with that and figured with Covid it would take a while. Called them back at the end of December and they told us that our chair would be in on 14 January. We called them and keep in mind that it's already been 2 1/2 months and all they were going to do with ship it. 2 1/2 months is reasonable but now when we called to see if our chair was in we were told it would not be in till the end of February. We've been very patient but if you go into their furniture store and order something special it should take a while this was a chair right off the floor. Purchased a Stanton sectional and the cushions are literally coming apart at the seams after a few months of light use. Maybe there's a warranty but sending a couch back for repairs isn't necessarily convenient, so we just sew the splits as they occur. It wasn't like the couch was cheap either, but next time we will drive to Portland to make our next furniture purchase. I am a senior and went to Gresham Jr furniture for a rocker recliner. I got the one I wanted. It was a part of a set , but the people who bought the set only wanted the couch and loveseat. So they put the rocker recliner with the other recliners. I sat on it I could touch the floor with my feet i am short. They put a code for another recliner on it as it was a odd ball. They were going to order one, said couldn't sell the floor model, unless they were out. Well the day I was to get the recliner, they said they didn't have one. So my son picked up the recliner they had wrapped. When we got home, I was upset because it wasn't the chair I sat in and bought. I went back next morning and told them, they tried to convince me it was the recliner, but I couldn't even touch the floor with my feet and it was smaller and wasn't even the right material . I when back again told them I want my money back or trade . One the sale gal yelled at me and was real unprofessional. My friend tried to tell them it wasn't the one she was there with me when we picked out the recliner. They argued with us two senior. Another friend called the owner he wasn't any help. My furniture ripped in January after owning just a short few weeks. Not to worry it's under warranty.... It is September and my furniture it STILL not repaired. It took 8-9 phone calls to JR to even get the process started. Meanwhile being told someone would call me back - never did, "we are too busy with customers to handle this now, we will call you back" I am pretty sure the fact that we spent $2300 on your furniture makes us customers. Finally after making contact I get reassurance from JR's claim representative: No worries, it's under warranty.... Sure. They use a 3rd party to handle this. That third party has remained in contact with me over the course of the last several months but the manufacturer has taken way too long to get the parts to them. JR's claims representative has not called me back depsite me reaching out again, twice recently with these issues. I have asked for a refund, even a depreciated one. They won't even begin to try to meet me in the middle. The most progress we've made thus far is receiving unsewn/uninstalled cushions (yes, 8 months later!) However, the furniture wasn't sewn correctly - Thank you manufacturer, Stanton. I cannot Express enough my regret of this purchase in store. Ryan Bailey helped my boyfriend and I purchase our new furniture from JR Furniture. Great experience and Ryan had extensive knowledge about the products we were interested in. Didn't feel pressured to buy and it was great to know that our furniture would be made to order and not off the showroom floor. Thanks Ryan and JR Furniture! 1/8/16 UPDATE: I reduced my star rating due to the fact that we were told our furniture would be in our home 3 weeks from our purchase date and that someone would contact us to confirm delivery date a couple days prior. Well, my boyfriend decided to call to confirm and found out the material for the couch we ordered was on backorder and that wed have to wait another month. I wish they would have at least offered us the warranty for our furniture due to the oversight our salesman made. Instead, we just received a bunch of apologies. read more

We went to JR Furniture for a microfiber sectional but the sales man insisted we would love this leather blended couch. We took his word but it gave us nothing but problems. Upon delivery it had a hole in it so they had someone come out again to patch that up. A couple months later the stitching starting to unravel so a repair guy came out to fix that. Also had the recliner fixed because that broke. Then, the "leather" started to peel BAD and got worse fast. We contacted them to see if there was any solution other than to continue to repair and dump money into this couch but they claimed it was just normal wear and tear. Mind you, we had this for only 2 years and spent over $2,000 on it. We spoke to Harry the boss, he didn't seem to care and hardly ever returned phone calls. We had purchased a Leather 3 piece furniture set which included a full reclining Couch, Loveseat and Chair. Within a first month or two. All three pieces of furniture started breaking down. They had sent a specialist from their store to inspect the set and he stated that it was a Manufacturer's Defect. All three pieces have broken frames and the chair won't even recline anymore. Since they sent the specialist we keep getting the same run-around with no solution. Now we're out $1700 and they wont Refund us. Will not shop from this business chain ever again. read more
