Rodney found me soon after I walked in and was eager to help me, with an easygoing, low-pressure style I appreciated. He pointed me to a chair on sale in the breezeway area that I couldn't pass up; it's very comfortable, even though it's an unexpected color and it was a little dirty from sitting outdoors. He got me a discount on delivery since I'm sort of in the neighborhood. Dave and Chris delivered the chair 3 days later (they went above and beyond by cleaning it up for me beforehand!) and did an awesome job getting it in the house. I tried to purchase some new furniture and the salesman flat walked away from me while I was still talking. I had the tornado damage personal items within my house and deck. The insurance asked me to get replacement value of items damaged or lost. If the item lost is not available (at which it is not available) I was to get the price of something comparable. The person if you call it trying to assist me would not assist and I walked away again while I was still talking. Prior to walking away he asked for my phone number to reprint a receipt and when I stated that is not what I was needing unless that item is still available not another work. He would not even consider getting me a quote as to what I would have to pay currently which is what I am covered for. read more

Have made 3 different purchases (visits) from FM since moving to Austin. They have a HUGE selection of furniture (including the most adorable dog beds) consisting of several different styles - from rustic to more contemporary. The quality for the price is spot on. I bough a huge, oversized coffee table and matching sofa table that I absolutely love. Solid wood; very heavy. All the staff are really nice and helpful. The manager gave me discount on my 2 subsequent trips as he considered me a repeat customer. Pretty cool. Will definitely shop here again when in need/desire of new furniture. As far as all the negative reviews, it appears most have to do with receiving/not receiving items in a certain time period. I feel obligated to comment on this as my experiences were so great. I can certainly understand some frustration; however, while FM does have a showroom and warehouse it is important to keep in mind that a lot of their products are purchased through other manufacturers and some are imported from other countries (e.g., rustic from Mexico) so some delay is inevitable. Perhaps that's the price and sacrifice necessary to get a good price of home goods. Just sayin'. Or only purchase an item you want if it's in stock - avoid the possibility of the situation entirely. That was the exact decision I made when I wanted a certain end table last week. I'm waiting to purchase until it's in stock in 4-6 weeks. UPDATE: I did have a problem with a wooden sofa table MONTHS after I purchased it. I called and spoke to Shaun, the manager, not really expected anything because of the time that hat passed. I just wanted to make him aware of the issue. It was obviously something to do with manufacturing. To my surprise, without me asking for anything and with absolutely no hesitation, Shaun asked me when I would be available to receive delivery of a new table. What?! I don't like to leave bad reviews but this place was a real letdown. We went here because the reviews seemed good, but after all the trouble we realised we had been looking at reviews through "Yelp Sort." Make sure to sort by date! When we went to buy a bed back in July, it took quite a while for anyone working there to speak to us. It wasn't a huge deal, we kind of prefer shopping without being swarmed by sales people, but the wait was definitely pushing even our limits. Weirdly, when we rang up our order, the sales person never mentioned anything about arranging delivery and seemed surprised when we asked him about it as he was about to charge us. The real reason for the bad review started after we bought the bed. They told us it would take approximately 3 weeks. Because of COVID, we weren't surprised when it wasn't ready on time, though they never reached out to update us. After three weeks, we called and were told it would be another week, no real explanation but, again, we attributed it to the unusual circumstances. However, this pattern repeated itself for two months. No explanation ever given, just an arbitrary date given that would come and go without a word. Finally, we went back to the yelp reviews and tried sorting by date. Sure enough, this was a problem predating our current situation. This is apparently not a special circumstance, just how they do business I guess. We decided that if it was delayed one more time, we would cancel the order and get a refund. The only reason I don't give 1 star (effectively 0 stars) is because their warehouse people seemed to be pretty professional. When the bed finally came in to their warehouse, they called us promptly and scheduled a delivery day. BEWARE. Promised delivery of a couch in 4-5 weeks, but here we are 8 weeks later, and no couch. If you call for an update once the promised delivery date has passed, they will tell you it is almost ready while being completely abrasive because you bothered them about the couch you need and paid for. When you finally give up and tell them you can't wait any longer they demand a restocking fee because it is "already finished" and "almost there". We bought the exact model off the floor of their showroom and it was not custom. Total scam. Hope it was worth it. I ordered a TV console early Dec and they told me 4-6 weeks for delivery due to the holidays... it is now the start of week 8 and they still don't have a firm date of when it's going to arrive! I've been calling for 2 weeks, today I called and the sales person said it was gona be another week... then he handed the phone to the manager and he said it'll be here in the next 2 days! Furniture stores don't have a problem selling merchandise they don't have access to with the promise of: "it's on its way." The store in Austin sold me a bedroom set with a 6-8 week delivery time. I specifically requested the furniture to be IN the continental USA, not somewhere in East Asia. The furniture was coming from the west coast, or so I was told. After 8 weeks of waiting, they assured it will be delivered: in ANOTHER 8 weeks! (wink, wink). Sad for me, the "shipment was delayed". It was not in a warehouse as I was first told. Somebody lied, sold it to someone else, or incompetence is the name of their game. All while holding on to the down-payment. Furniture Market, that is NOT a way to do business! I purchased a sofa/chair set from furniture market this past summer. After going to a few places, we found something we liked at a reasonable price. It happened to be a floor model on clearance, and the sales person said it was sold "As-Is" with no returns. We figured for the price this wasn't a big deal. We looked it over and saw no issues. We asked about the warranty and were informed that it was still covered. It was a normal interaction, nothing to write about (so i didn't). Forward 9 months later to April, we noticed the cushions are starting to come apart at the seams. We figured it was no big deal since we were covered. We contacted the manufacturer who said we need to contact the retailer. We contacted the store, who reviewed our purchase and gave us instructions on what to do: email X and send pictures. X did not get back to us after a few days, so I emailed X again. Once again, a few days go by and still no response. So I call the store and was able to get him on the phone. He looked over the pictures and says "sorry, this was an as-is purchase and therefore not covered under warranty." This is where I became upset. I realized at this point the sales person probably said anything to get it out the door. He said he would talk to the sales person to get back to me. I reviewed the receipt that does say "As-Is", and that clearance items are not returnable, but no where does it say that it voids the warranty. I contacted the manufacturer again who agreed with the retailer, but she said since it wasn't a big deal to have the store contact her directly and she would work something out for me. I emailed the info to X, who only responded to say the salesperson never told me that there was a warranty (surprise, surprise) and with who they recommend for repairs. When I asked if he contacted the agent at the manufacturer I spoke with, he did not respond. That was a week ago. So now I am stuck with a $1000 couch with oozing cushions cause they have slimy sales people. Time to go back to the manufacturer to see if they can go around them. read more

I am more of a second hand purchaser for furniture, but due to our nice new apartment and wanting to add our own feel to our new home versus adding someone else's from 10 years ago we decided to look into buying new. After researching numerous different online sites and furniture stores around Austin we started to feel like we wouldn't find anything we were looking for with a reasonable price tag, until we accidentally passed our original destination to Austin couch potatoes (or something like that) and found the Furniture Market! We were assisted by a gentlemen who waited until we had browsed a little before giving friendly advice and help. Unlike other places that barrage you at the door. Then follow you around desperately sometimes hiding behind things and chiming in on certain things you look at (seriously happened to us twice) but I digress. If you are looking for a cheap yet great quality furniture store and you live in Austin I highly suggest going here! They are friendly, helpful and want you to get the best price too even if that means having some of their potential money being sent to uahul instead. They offer delivery but will gladly tell you other places that are cheaper (usually renting a truck) which is what we ended up doing because we didn't want to wait 3 days for the sofa to arrive. We rented a uhaul for 20$/4 hrs which ended up being 60$ cheaper than their delivery charge. read more

I bought the furniture from Heather the assistant manager. When I made the purchase I questioned her on it's arrival and she said she would confirm it with the rep and let me know the next day or so. A week later I had not heard from her so I called again. She confirmed the delivery timeframe. I have yet to receive my furniture. I called again about 10 days ago and she again told me she would check and let me know. I have yet to hear from her. "Great furniture selection, so I can't figure out why it's rated so low." So I fully get a bad experience bringing down the amount of stars you deem this place worthy of. However, I also know when I see good quality furniture and what's considered high prices or exceptionally good prices for what you're getting. I've actually been coming to this place for a long time. As a matter of fact, my parents have bought many of things here in the past that are still in great shape after moving and years of wear and tear. They said it used to be called Oak and Pine at one point? I have no clue, my brain is selective and chooses not to remember that detail. My most recent experience was just as good as all the others. I've been looking for a good quality oak tv stand all over the place and I was not looking to pay $2,000-$12,000 that so many places were charging. I finally came to furniture market and found exactly what I wanted for under $500. Woo hoo no more shopping. It was love at first sight...and smell. Can't beat the smell of solid oak. Now here's a tip, don't let them sell the furniture to you at the price on the tag. They will drop the price (more considerably on higher prices items of course). I'm not talking $10. They'll usually go down $50-$100 on something that's around $300 and even more can be taken off on furniture priced higher. You just have to know how to talk them down. The only drawback is the $50-$100 delivery fee. Or you can take it yourself (which I usually do because I'm cheap and strong so I'll lift it myself if I can save money). If you pick it up yourself you have to go to braker and bluff bend drive to get it...which isn't very far. Needless to say, I've always been impressed by their furniture selection and quality. My journey started very smoothly with Furniture Market. I have never shopped at a furniture store before - let alone furnish a whole house. I was very excited to pick out brand new furniture, for my newly built house. I was settled on everything and felt great with my decisions. I even followed their rules with letting the store know when we were going to close on the house - to make sure we were set with this process. This is when things went south. I showed up after we closed, only for the manager to tell me that my sofa set has been discontinued. (Sofa, loveseat and chair) Imagine getting that type of news on the same day we are trying to set up delivery. I was highly upset. Had we been told this news right when they realized they couldn't get the sofa set, I would have gone back to the store right away (after spending 3 days picking everything out, you can imagine my frustration) On that same day (closing) I had to go to another store, and pick out another sofa set. While I was at this new store, I went ahead and picked out everything else - except for the dining room set. I am extremely disappointed in how this played out with this Furniture Market store. I waited a while before I wrote this review just to see if they would reach out and try to rectify the situation. I've received nothing. No phone call, no message, nothing. I will not recommend this store to anyone, and will make sure no one that I know shops there. If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. read more

Went there on a Sunday after church but sign said they didn't open until noon, but they opened at 11:30 since they were there already. So great. I always drive by and see the unique pieces and the fact that they have real wood. They were extremely helpful and lucky for us they were having a huge sale. They are very accommodating and answered every question we had and warranty is for 5 yrs and if you buy other pieces later they will add it to your account without charging you again for warranty on each piece. Such a rest place. Wish I could buy way more. Very affordable especially for the quality of pieces you receive. read more

Straightforward and no nonsense. Came in on a Saturday afternoon looking for a new sectional. Found one we liked and then Greg came over to chat with us. He gave us the cost and I told him we were going to have lunch and think it over. We came back an hour later and told him the price was too high. Greg disappeared for a few minutes and when he came back he had a lower out the door price I could live with. He then walked us over to the front desk, we paid the man and scheduled delivery for the following Monday. Monday rolled around and the entire order was delivered exactly as I expected. I just saw that this business has a low average rating, which I think is crazy, so it's time to share my experience this past summer. This past June, I went to Furniture Market with my wife. We dealt with Trish (Tricia?) & had a very good experience. Outside there are a number of solid wood items & inside was the less-weather-friendly upholstered stock. Prices are decent-to-good for very high quality furniture. We ended up buying a clearance bookshelf. After getting it home and setting it up, I realized I wanted another one that was also in the clearance section, emailed Trish, and arranged to pick it up. When I arrived it had already been pulled from the floor & shrink-wrapped for travel. The staff (at least Trish) was very helpful and not overbearing. When we wanted to look around, we did so at length without any hovering. Emails got responses within about a day on average. I really like the quality of furniture and staff there, and I'll be shopping there again in the future. read more

We met Noe at the Furniture Market booth at the rodeo several years back. We were in the process of building our dream home, and knew there was going to be a lot of furniture needed. Noe was AWESOME, as was the manager, at working with us to select furniture for multiple rooms, and even custom building two bars for us. We have been back quite a few times for other items as we needed them, as well as sent our friends and family there. My husband and I came in today as we've been looking for the perfect new couch for our home. Upon opening the door and walking in, the staff at the counter facing us made eye contact, then immediately returned to what they were doing. This didn't fare too well with me, as I believe in at least greeting your potential clients, but I let it slide momentarily to ask where we could find the couches. The two gentlemen at the counter pointed to the adjacent warehouse and advised we were 'on the wrong side'. Okay, so we left that side and went across to the other. After browsing alone (there didn't seem to be anyone to help around in this showroom), we didn't see much to fit our needs, even though the items there were nice enough. We were finishing up our visit as one salesman came in and began walking towards us, which I assumed meant he'd be coming up to offer assistance. Unfortunately, he instead began smacking the gum he was chewing and glared at us both, making me feel quite uncomfortable. At that point, my husband had had enough, and said to me, "I don't think I like this place much. Let's go ahead and keep looking elsewhere." I was fine with that since it didn't seem that our business was wanted nor appreciated there, so we started to leave. Only at this point did the salesman turn around to let us know that new shipment was coming off the truck outside if we wanted to wait for it. We thanked him and said a simple "no thanks" as we left. I'm sure that the company does well and they have plenty of people who enjoy doing business with them, but I can tell you that I have NEVER been made to feel so badly as a customer in my life. This is why I only gave 1 star, and I will definitely be letting everyone I know hear my story about it. As a life-long Austinite, I don't appreciate salespeople who can't show manners. Sorry, but that isn't how I was raised and I refuse to tolerate it in others. Hopefully something can be done to train the staff on basic customer service in the future. read more

I ordered a love seat and sofa from them. it took over a month to get the pieces I ordered and once they came the sofa was broken!!! The delivery people asked "well did you want us to take it back?" no I paid $2000 cuz I wanted to buy a broken sofa... they are in style now. So i call my sales lady and asked that they get me a new sofa asap because we just moved into our new house and now all we have is our love seat. So its been over a week now and they still don't know when it will be in. I hope they have a better plan on fixing this and making it right other than "we will get it to you asap" I will update once they deliver and see if they comp. anything. UPDATE: sorry for the very late update but here is what happened... After having to re order our couch, there was no rush put on it. it took a total of over 2 months to get a couch that wasn't broken. Every time we called and asked about it, it was a HUGE inconvenience for them. Once the new couch was delivered there were scuffs on the leather and we asked them to be fixed, but nothing came of it. I won't say anything in this review that hasn't been said in the other reviews. We ordered a small, waist-height cabinet in early January from this cleverly disguised junk market. They finally called us in early March. We go to their warehouse to pick up the small cabinet and they had ordered....a large armoire. Wrong piece of furniture. So they promised the right cabinet and said it would be here ASAP. A month goes by. We get a call. Go to pick up small cabinet. They had ordered....a different large armoire. Two incorrect orders. They promised a "technician" would treat a cabinet they had in stock and have it ready in 2 days. A week and a half later, we get a call. Go pick it up at the warehouse. It's not there. Go to their store on 35. Not there either, but they promise it's at the warehouse. Go back to the warehouse and they had misplaced it. Finally see our cabinet and get it loaded in my truck. On the way out, the loading dock worker informs me that he was the "technician" that sanded and restained the cabinet. Low rent operation the whole way..... read more

We called, begged, admonished, and nearly threatened. We were given every lame, runaround excuse. We are very patient people but we are not fools. We will never spend another penny with them. Very disappointing business. I had a very similar situation to Eric's (check review). I purchased a sectional August 1st with a delivery time of 4 to 6 weeks which wasn't the case. It's been 9 weeks and no sectional. On top of that, they called me to say it would take 11 weeks; when I responded I wanted my money back, Sean (manager with very poor management skills) said they would charge me fees and would give a part of my investment. So they want to charge me for the incompetency and for ...waiting? I'm sorry, but if they don't work with you, how do they expect good referrals? It seems to me that the word of mouth of their lack of professionalism is spreading fast. read more

I bought a dining room table for significantly less than I had seen it in a store on Burnet Road and it was in stock! Order placed on Saturday afternoon and delivered Wednesday of following week at the exact time they promised during a two-hour window. Lady scheduling the deliveries asked me if there was anything else they could do to assist. Impressive. Drivers arrived right on time. Whole process could not have been easier or more pleasing. Other furniture dealers could learn a few things from Furniture Market. I worked with Cliff Whitson and will be back to see him again.. probably this weekend. I remember going over the catalog with the sales person and asking her multiple times - and this comes in king too? After a month of waiting, delivery finally happens - and it's a queen-sized bed.
