To put this review into perspective, I live in a condo building from the 1960s. In early January of this year, my gas furnace broke. The furnace was museum fodder: it was probably as old as the building itself, covered in asbestos, twelve inches wide, and stuck in a closet not much wider than that. I run very cold, so this was an awful experience. But you know what was even more awful? Trying to find an HVAC contractor who could help me. Most of them said my furnace was completely dead, no modern furnace could fit in the existing closet, and the closet couldn't be expanded since it contains a flue that spans the entire height of the building. - The first contractor told me I would never have heat again and my entire building was doomed. When I asked about a heat pump, he said it was "impossible" - The second brought up the idea of a mini-split heat pump, but never followed up - The third said a mini-split would be too challenging and I should just get a wall furnace - The fourth also said a mini-split would be too challenging. This contractor was at least willing to look into a very tiny gas furnace from Canada that I found online (the Dettson Chinook Compact). However, he said his company wouldn't be able to source this furnace for me At this point, I was seriously about to give up. Then I found Fuse Service. From the start, they were prompt and professional. - Frank, the estimator, said his team could source and install the Dettson Chinook Compact for me, but it would require new PVC pipes. Due to the amount of work involved in replacing the existing ductwork with PVC pipes, he recommended I opt for a heat pump instead, since it would be a better solution for both heating and cooling. - Slava and Teodor, the project managers, figured out a design for a ductless mini-split system that involved placing the condenser on the rooftop, connecting the condenser to the mini-split units through the crawlspace, and then draining the condensation under my bathroom sink. They were *incredibly* thorough -- they calculated the electrical load based on my existing appliances and submitted paperwork to both my HOA and the City of San Mateo. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast they got the permit as well. - The installation went remarkably smoothly. I was nervous since this was my first home improvement project ever, but all the Fuse technicians were incredible. Bolt and Paul, the HVAC experts, installed the entire mini-split heat pump in just three days, which is much less time than I expected for such a difficult project. Anatolii and Vlad, the electricians, installed a brand new and improved electrical panel on day 2. They all demonstrated amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. In addition, they were also very considerate -- they laid down drop cloths to protect my floors, wore shoe covers, and cleaned up at the end of each day. - The Fuse team in general sent me helpful text messages and emails to confirm my appointments. Their text messages about the technicians were fun: they had photos and blurbs about what the technicians like to do outside of work. - After the installation, they also sent me a cute report about my new system, complete with pictures! My new mini-split heat pump fills me with joy. Words cannot describe how wonderful it feels to have such a beautiful system in my home after months of being cold and hearing nothing but bad news from other HVAC companies. I contacted Fuse and they came the next day. My problem was a dead outlet under my sink. Need a working outlet for dishwasher. Zorik T. was the technician. He was excellent. He determined a neutral wire had failed. (this old house was wired by Thomas A. Edison, only two conductor). Zorik figured out a good way to reroute the wiring. Implement solution. Sealed the wall (very clean). I believe the charge was resonible for the time he spent here. I "would" use Zorik and Fuse again. SE. read more

Our gas tank water heater leaked and had to be replaced. We found some plumbers who would replace the same type water heater within a couple of hours. However, I wanted to go electric and/or tankless with latest technology and wifi capabilities. I reached out to Fuse for electric water heaters and wanted to see if my 100 amp home (with no spare breaker slot) would support anything. Konstantine from Fuse showed up same day for a free consult and convinced me to go for Heat Pump Water heater, which is electric and uses heat pump technology. He even did a rough load calc and said our home would pass the city inspection and they'd take care of all the city formalities. These water heaters are super expensive ($3k+ for just the equipment), however there are a good chunk of rebates and tax benefits going on, dropping the effective price (including install) to below the gas water heaters. I was concerned about rebates, but Konstantine was confident and said there is no doubt about getting it approved and pointed me to all the online rebate resources to confirm. The pilot light of our water heater was out. We followed the instructions and tried a couple times to relight it. But it went out again once the button was released. PGE tech came over and told us to replace the thermocouple. He also said it would be an easy fix. I watched YouTube for hints and figured we probably needed a professional. Our landlord got this company to fix a completely broken hydronic heating. Andrew K. came the same day for diagnosis and the guy seemed really competent; checked all the wiring and was able to tell us exactly which parts were broken. For the replacement with a heat pump, Oleg R. and his colleague did a fantastic job under really difficult conditions in the house (heating in the attic, very narrow entry etc). They really knew what they were doing and just made it work. They also made an effort to not leave any dirt, which we really appreciated. The heating works super well now. Very happy with service from Fuse, and particularly its representative, Chirrill, after some poor experiences with another local heating company. We replaced our gas furnace with a heat pump system for heating and cooling in 2020. Installation was done by a company that has since changed names/owners, and now has a poorer reputation. As soon as winter of 2023, the system was not heating properly. Hired a local company (Heating in the name) to service, and problem was traced to a frost sensor that was in short supply and could not be replaced for many months. Upon its replacement, however, the system still did not heat much - air coming out the vents was lukewarm at best. Sent out a very junior rep on two occasions, both times concluding no problem could be identified. Asked for experienced rep and final verdict was no problem - that the tepid warming come from our vents was the most heating that could be expected from a heat pump. Come summer, it was obvious the system was also not cooling - at all - despite working wonderfully in previous summers. Here we hired Fuse! Fuse rep Chirrill came out. Professional, personable, and a clear communicator, he quickly diagnosed that the frost sensor and the associated board were both faulty. He got the cooling working temporarily, getting us through another week of high temperatures. On the next visit, once equipment obtained, he replaced the faulty components, and cooling has been working great ever since. Confident that our heating in the winter will be better as well! We had a leak in our garden irrigation for several years so we couldn't use automatic watering and had to do it by hand. Finally we decided that it's needed to be done and placed our request with Fuse. Not only they were able to accommodate our request in a timely manner (on Thanksgiving week) but the service provided was exceptionally good. I'm very pleased with the service from fuse. Gene, the technician, called to say he could come earlier than our appointment, which was great. He checked our AC and found that the capacitor was bad. It had stopped working and our house was swelteringly hot. He replaced the capacitor, checked the Freon level, checked the pressure, and checked the air temperature coming out of our vents. Two months ago, I had FUSE remove an old gas furnace and install a new heat pump HVAC system that cools and heats. I was so satisfied with the service people and the results, I called them back to do another project. I wanted to connect a portable generator as power backup in case of an emergency. FUSE installed an interlock device in the main electrical panel and added a generator outlet on the exterior. Sorik, the installer, did an excellent job. I was very pleased with his work and how everything came out. Sorik is very knowledgeable, skilled, and good at what he does. He is a hard worker and did a thorough cleanup job before he left. I have a water heater leak and after looking around for options, decided to take advantage of various rebates and tax credits to replace the natural gas unit with an electrical heat pump. Fuse was one of the two companies listed on BayREN vendors which I can use to apply for their rebates. The total prices are quite a bit higher than if I were to hire individuals to install new heater and perform electrical upgrade needed. However, I may not have been able to apply for the rebates because a couple of the rebates have to be initiated by the installer. The 2nd companies which offered to deduct rebates upfront also come lower in total price but unfortunately there was a wait time of two weeks while Fuse was able to replace my heater within a few days. It was in the middle of Winter so not having hot water was quite inconvenient. Although it took several months, I finally received all the rebates promised. Madina the rebate coordinator was very patient and courteous along the way, making sure all documents are filed correctly. I would have taken a half star way if there is an option from this experience is that the electrician who showed up the day decided to pull the new circuit from my sub-panel instead of my main panel. This was different from what they said and recommended initially when they came to give me the quote. The distance for the circuit became significant, and much less work to do and the cost should have been at least a couple hundred dollars lower. Also, it took away a couple of precious slots in my sub-panel which I wanted to safe for EV charger in the future. When I asked about that, he said I could use a new type of 30A breaker which takes only 1 slot. But he installed the 2-slot breaker anyway and told me he didn't bring the new type of breaker which he suggested using. Also, he told me he was going to install fuse box on my outside wall at sholder height but didn't not tell me the fuse box came with a fairly long conduit exposed outside too. I wish all these can be concealed better with the fuse box placed somewhere else. Another could be issue was that the young person from FUSE who showed up to meet the county inspection seemed inexperience. The inspector almost didn't approved the installation. But the inspector was nice and patient enough to go through the installation manual with me and finally found some exceptions mentioned in the manual allowing things to pass. The FUSE representative however did not provide much advice during the process. Other than these minor issues, overall FUSE did a fine job with the water heater installation itself, and I am glad I went ahead switching to Heat pump. The wireless feature also allow me to control temperature remotely and watch for energy usage instantly. I would use and recommend FUSE again for similar jobs. My friend also went with FUSE for their heat pump upgrade after I passed along their info. read more

Since the old panel was located over a water faucet, the job was complicated since modern regulations do not allow an electrical panel to be close to a water outlet. Since the servic was for a rental home I first had to get authorization. Once I had the authorization from the homeowner Kate was still able to get me an appointment for the next day. I received written confirmation of the appointment via e-mail and SMS messaging. On the day of the appointment I received another reminder and the technician, Gene, was on time. We have a service maintenance contract with Fuse for the HVAC system they installed last year. The service technician, Milo, was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, thorough and efficient. While he was checking the outdoor heat pumps, he even did a great job of cleaning them too. He took photos and documented his work. He never tried to upsell any services or products. In fact, he saved us money by showing that the MERV air filters were still clean after one year and didn't need replacement. I have used Fuse for a variety of jobs (EV charger, gas pipe removal, installation of a load shedding device), and have always been very satisfied with their professionalism, skill, and promptness. But they really went above and beyond with their most recent job -- special props here to Zorik and his partner Paul. I wanted to switch from a gas oven to an induction one, which required installing a new 50 amp circuit. However, the layout of the kitchen made that exceedingly difficult. We have a super cramped crawlspace which does not extend to the area under the stove. Zorik and Paul had to do all kinds of complicated work under there in a tight spot with bad visibility. In the end they somehow managed to snake a thick 240v cable through the crawl space, under the kitchen island, and up through the floor, taking two 90 degree turns in an area where they had no direct access! I was sure they were going to have to cut into drywall or tear up floor to make it work, but they pulled it off with zero footprint. It was a job that took an extremely high level of skill and expertise. As always, the price was entirely fair -- in this case, better than fair: I should have paid more for this level of workmanship. The first few times I went with Fuse I shopped around for a few estimates, but now I don't even bother -- since their estimates are always as good or better than the competition, and the quality of their work, in my view, can't be beat. read more
