I've used this business for several years to service my residential air conditioner. They come out a new check ups every couple years and recharge the refrigerant as needed. This company has apparently gone bankrupt and the new company, Fuse Services, is not honoring the warranty without the purchase of a membership plan. So good luck when your American HVAC system fails. I am seriously disgusted with this business. I hired Cuinn to install new ducts and they proposed a layout plan we all approved. Upon inspecting the completion of the work I realized the layout was not as we designed but instead was done as it was originally configured which Cuinn claimed was inefficient. I insisted Cuinn include a warranty to which he berated me as a challenge to his business reputation and character. Well look now....total scam. Oh and yes, I found all this out because after only a year there seems to be an issue. I will not be going with Fuse Services. I would rather start fresh with a reputable company that doesn't prey on victims of the bankruptcy. I have no respect for Fuse Services that can't at least offer a free diagnostic - they acquired American HVAC as an asset so they should have at least taken some responsibility. read more

The American HVAC technician Steven clearly didn't know what he was doing when we put in a service call to fix a gas leak in our furnace line. Worse, after telling my wife that "there's nothing I can do", he then tried to get me to agree to pay $500 so he could disassemble the furnace and still attempt to fix the leak. When I asked him what exactly he was planning to do (after he had told us there was nothing he could do), why it would take that long, and be that costly, he fumbled all over himself in trying to explain the specific steps needed--none of which would even begin to approach the multiple hours he claimed would support such a fee. From the get go, Steven was cocky and arrogant-- attempting to bluster through the fact that he was clearly not comfortable handling what should have been an easy job (the PG and E technician had explained to me the night before exactly what had to be done to fix the gas leak where the intake line was connected to the valve box --simply disconnect the box, put some sealant on the pipe, and reattach the box and pressure test.). So we told him to just leave as he clearly didn't know what he was doing. After wasting time with this company, we called in AAA Furnace and Heating, which sent in a much more experienced person (Robert) who did exactly what was needed, in less than an hour all in, and for half the price Steven wanted to charge. When I tried to provide constructive feedback privately to the company, I never got a call back from the operations manager with whom I had left a message. So I guess this social media review will have to suffice. We know not to try American HVAC again! read more

After paying 21 thousand dollars within few days ac was not working and when I texted him he said he can not send someone to fix if something is wrong - While this was my very first complain. Past couple days were a little hot in the 90s, and of course things always break when its inconvenient! The problem? The Lennox iComfort m30 "smart" thermostat display would not turn on, so it is unable to control the air temperature. Called in around 8:45am on 5/25, and I was told they will call me back once they have a scheduled time. Around 12pm I get a call back that they have an opening for Tues 5/26 from 12-4pm. Luckily 5/26 was not a very hot day, only mid-70s. Rudy-Noel phoned me to tell me he was an estimated 20 min away, and he arrived well within his estimate. He took a look at the thermostat, and quickly determined that the issue was no 24V coming in. He then proceeded to do some diagnosis, the conclusion was damaged control wiring. Luck happened to be on my side, as Rudy connected all the wiring back-up the thermostat came alive. 5 stars to Rudy for explaining everything he was doing and what the causes may be. read more

Very slow response on a warranty job. Very poor communication. This company has installed brand-new HVAC system in my house in 2020. Last week the furnace stopped working. The technician came very promptly and diagnosed either clogged or cracked heat exchanger. Since then company hasn't come back to me on when and how they are going to fix it. My voice mails are left unreturned. The only communication so far was the SMS stating "... owner and install manager are out in the field they will reach out to you when they are done ..." We are in the middle of the cold spell and not knowing when they are going to start the job is quite disturbing. read more

DO NOT EVER WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, DO A SHIT JOB AND LEAVE YOU IN THE DIRT. Our heat pump went out in March 2022, which was a blessing and a curse, because that meant that we could get the HVAC unit replaced before the hot summer. It took a couple months to actually get American Hvac out here and look at our property to figure out what exactly they needed in order to replace the unit, which included a crane because we live in a townhome community, and our HVAC unit is on the roof. they finally came to replace the unit in June 2022, right after my son was born. They installed everything in a day, and the AC was working great for the hot summer, which I super appreciate. However, the unit they replaced it with, was bigger than our original unit, and the duct was on the wrong side, so instead of repositioning the duct, they placed the unit across the original footprint that is secured to our rooftop. And to hold the rest of the unit that was not on the base, they simply placed two by fours underneath it - Not secured to the roof in any way, so if any earthquake were to come through and knock any of the 2x4s over, the HVAC unit would come crashing through our ceiling. And thus, when I had the inspector come out, he failed them because the unit was not secured to the roof. no one from the company was here for the inspection, and the inspector said that's because they knew they wouldn't pass. So another month goes by before they can send somebody out here to do the work to secure the unit, the inspector came back, looked at the work, failed them again because it still wasn't earthquake proof. He called them to speak with the install manager and explained that in order for them to make it earthquake proof with the way that the HVAC unit was sitting on the original pad, they would have to go through the HOA to secure their extra 2x4s to the rooftop and provide plans to the city to get them approved, which, on the phone with the inspector, American Hvac said they would rather not do. It is now October of 2022. My son and our HVAC unit are now four months old, and they are 2 1/2 hours late to reposition the duct and the unit to fit on the original base, which they should have done in the first place. I don't understand why it's taking so long, considering it's not a new unit, it's just a replacement, even the inspector said this is their day job and what they do every day to hundreds of home in the bay area since a lot of these houses have had their HVAC units fail within the past few years. I don't know if we got a bad team, or whatever, but it has taken way too long and I'm taking too many days off of work to sit around waiting for these guys to keep coming back and failing inspections. Update (10/14): they never arrived. I called 3 hours into their appointment window to see what was going on and they said they had an emergency pop up and we'd have to reschedule. Why did I have to call them for this? Once they have your money, you're nothing to them. Rescheduled for Monday 7-11am Update (10/17) : it's two hours into our rescheduled appt window. They are not here. I call. They say they are held up by their morning appointment. But I am their morning appointment. They reschedule for 11-3. Again. Why do I have to contact them. I have spent my entire maternity leave stressed out about this company. I can't believe they are allowed and able to do this to people. read more

EXTREMELY rude customer service! A junior technician came out to perform a diagnostic on my condo AC unit that wasn't working. He mentioned at first that he needed to do perform a full trace to figure out the issue and that he'll need to charge me $250/hr to do this (this is on top of the $150 diagnostic/inspection fee). He called me back later and said he spoke with his manager who said that this work was not needed and that the issue was just that the breaker needed to be replaced and that an electrician needed to do this and they charge $600 for this service. Uh yea, no thank you! I called another specialist out who did an inspection and said the AC unit is working and that there's no fix that's needed at this time. (Btw, he quoted less than $200 to change the breaker.) W T F, so now I have to pay American HVAC this $150 diagnostic fee that was completely incorrect? I called American HVAC customer support (spoke with Marie) about this and she gave me a big F*CK YOU just pay your bill. She first said they reviewed the technician's report and saw that he didn't finish the diagnostic and they can send a more senior technician out right now to finish the diagnostic. I said there's no point since the unit is working now, but since he didn't complete the diagnostic should I really be paying full price for this inspection? They said yes because the technician came out and that normally the full hourly fee is $250 but $150 was a monthly promotion so really I'm getting a discount already. (this was the first I even heard of this monthly promotion) Me: "But he didn't finish the diagnostic like you said and the solution was incorrect because the unit does work". Marie (customer support manager): "I don't care, I don't want to argue with you about this, pay the bill or we're sending it to collections" What was I expecting from this conversation? Perhaps, "if your AC unit breaks again we can send out a senior technician to finish the diagnostic, we'll make a note of that in your customer file." So I have to pay American HVAC $150 fee for essentially not finishing the diagnostic and had another company come to turn on the AC unit and tell me the AC unit is working fine. I'll definitely not use their service ever again if that's how they do business and want to treat their customers. Stay away from American HVAC, unless you want to pay them to be told off by their customer support and threatened with collections! read more

American HVAC installed an AC for me on the roof of our 2 story property in 2018. When we had them come out recently to see why it's no longer cooling, they told us that they cannot get on to the roof to check the HVAC unless the building has roof access. As you can see in the photo, they did not have any problem with getting onto the roof before the AC was installed in 2018. Back in 2018, I was initially happy to hear that they could do the installation for a reasonable price. But I didn't leave a positive review because one of the installers shoved the new HVAC unit across the surface of the roof. I yelled and he stopped. Now I am just unhappy that the company does not always service what they install. If service after sales is important to you, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

American HVAC are lifesavers! We have a condominium with heat pump and fan coil unit which stopped working in middle of the heat wave. We had several companies coming out, diagnosing issue and giving us a quote. Most of them recommended replacing the whole system since it is older. Some of them were afraid to work on it due to liability issues of being in a multi family residence. Full system replacement quotes were in $12K range. Rudy Zapien from American HVAC turned out to be a rockstar of them all. He diagnosed the issue correctly that it was a failed capacitor. He already had capacitor replacement handy. The system immediately started blowing cold air on capacitor replacement. The replacement charge was also reasonable. So, it turned out other companies didn't accurately looked at the issue in detail. We know that the system would need full replacement a few years down the line, but Rudy saved us lot of money today, for which we are really thankful. He also suggested tips on maintaining the system to extend its lifespan. We wholeheartedly recommend Rudy and American HVAC company for your air conditioning needs! read more

I figured in these covid times, this would be the fastest and safest way to get some numbers before I requested an in person visit. They sent me an email explaining they needed to come out to see what kind of work needed to be done. I told them that what I sent over was from my GC so we already knew what needed to be done. I offered to give them my contractor's number so they could speak directly to him and then I asked them to give me some timeframes they would be available to go out to the property. After putting it off for many years, it has become way too hot not to have AC in San Jose! This is especially true when you couldn't open the windows to cool down the house at night because of the smoke from these "one in a decade" wildfires that are now happening every year! After getting four different quotes, we settled with American HVAC. Chris was very professional and he spent the whole morning with us explaining all the work that need to be done. He checked the crawl space and attic for our duct system. We ended up with a Lennox furnace & AC combo. I was so impressed with him that we have American HVAC work on my in-laws' house as well (They also need a new furnace and AC). On the day of the install, the team worked super hard to feed the drain line from my garage down the crawl space to the fan unit outside, They also set in new wiring conduits to the new breaker box outside the house. DON'T WASTE TIME, ENERGY AND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY! I kept stressing to the "salesman" I want an equivalent system. He answered "how much you want to pay?" That should have stopped me there, but I was naive that I thought he was going to help me get a good price. All he cared about was making the sale and then he disappeared. Rather than write everything where not many have the time or patience to read or write here are the quick points. - I didn't get an "equivalent" system - they gave me a lower model stating it would be barely a difference-NO - installed incorrectly - 99% of the installers including supervisor are not skilled to do the job - multiple appointments with cancelations and need another tech person that has to "come again" - Non responsive management, they will avoid speaking to you if you have a lot or complaints - Gave me a new system that was faulty and said it would be replaced. I kept calling and asking if I could upgrade and they never responded and then gave me the exact same unit but new. - They don't fix but bandaid issues. - They claim to "take care of it" the extra electric bill that was due to they system running on 24/7, then later installed or had a bad system they lie and then blame it on something - they say whatever they can to pacify you, but never truly address the issue Currently the system clanks and simmers my lights so I am back to the canceled appointments, revolving poor workers, and hoping this nightmare will end. Sadly I wish it would die completely so I will be rid of their company. The suppose it $2000 I was "saving" with them was easily taken up by the extremely high electric bill because they "forgot" to turn on the air conditioning part of the system when installed. (Oh btw, they kept saying "We'll take care of you- they don't) My previous system was installed and I never had a problem OR maintenance until it died 13 years later. Frank Parsons came out and spent a better part of the morning measuring the condo's nooks and crannies including the crawlspace and electrical connections. Paul D came out to our house because our heater function was not working. Paul was very detailed and went over every possible issue and found the issue, there was a wiring issue from when they first installed the unit. Paul knew about it but wanted to make sure that he was in fact doing the correct fix, so he called and consulted with another tech. I LOVE THAT !!! The fact that he asked for help and just didn't guess shows what a great tech he is and that he really cares for the customers. He was safe by wearing his booties and mask the whole time in the house and when discussing the issue with us. He even stayed and tested the unit multiple times before leaving. I called when our A/C went out. The dispatcher took my info but no one ever called back. It's been more than 2 days with radio silence. Of course I've moved on to another business now. I understand A/C repair services are busy in August, but a callback to decline or give a later ETA seems like a minimum expectation for a business. Reply to business response below: The dispatcher I talked to implied I'd get a call back the same morning. Instead you should be setting the expectation up front that we won't get a callback due to volume, so we can call someone else instead. read more

I'm happy to update this review just 7 days later!! In Jacob's reply to my original review, he said, "The mark of a great company is how we react when we drop the ball and our goal is to overcome these challenges." And I completely agree!! Within the last week, the installation manager, Christian, came out and assessed the underlying issues in my AC which has caused my monthly energy bills and annual repair costs to be extremely high all while not really cooling the house very well. He gave me a great perspective of how to handle the core issue and not just how to 'band-aid' the issues with suboptimal results and continued annual need for repairs. He provided answers to all my questions in ways that are understandable and not overly technical. Long story short, I felt confident that the solution would work and agreed to the work, so they got me on the schedule and got my HVAC system all set up and working better and much more energy efficiently....diagnosis and install/fixes within 7 days (5 business days)! My furnace was not powering on or starting, so I called American HVAC and booked an appointment. Paul Diaz was sent to my house and arrived within minutes of the start time for my appointment window. I recently purchased this home so I was not too familiar with the furnace or the electrical power runs to the furnace. Furnace has not been working (wouldn't turn on) and the heat was becoming unbearable. Scheduled an appointment and was able to get next day service. The technician arrived on time and told me that the blower mower of my furnace was broken and needed to be replaced. He quoted a price of $2,800 to fix it but also recommended getting a new furnace for between $5000-6000. The technician without looking at any other problems made an assumption within the first 2 minutes as to what the issue was. I had a second opinion come out today and the technician immediately tested the capacitor noting that was the problem. Upon replacing it, the furnace worked immediately. $280 for the service call much nicer than the price quoted by American HVAC. read more

The good : they installed HVAC in 2 home for me and they work. In 1 home the filter install was missed and a 2nd visit was required. In both home the installed failed inspection due to lack of attention to detail - the cabinet was not sealed in home which is a fire hazard. In the 2nd home the vents were not secured and some seals were missed. What this means is that the install and permit process is still continuing after 2 months and I am still scheduling visits. A 2 day job is a 6 day job not including phone calls to get this straightened. Overall, during estimate process they were professional but execution was off the mark. read more

Terrible customer service and not professional. Several missed appointments with no cal and no show. We would get email confirming appt then no one would show. Tried to give them benefit of the doubt and rescheduled several times. Office told us we can just call another company instead. We requested manager/owner and he would not provide a solution or even return calls. Since they had been paid for the previous job we kept trying to call with no call back either. Left our tenant with no heat for weeks. Do not use them and we will never again. read more

My 1927 home never got sufficient heat in all the rooms. Some were colder than others, and some seemed to get too much heat so I was constantly adjusting the vents. Matt determined there were crimps in the ducting and in some places it was too small for the room. They system needed a larger return and in a different place to maximize air flow. We figured out how to do this without impacting my beautiful hardwood floors. And all of this had to work with my Nest thermostat. Matt, Eli, Jorge, Saul, Miguel and Redolfo were great to work with. They were pleasant, professional, and even fun. I understood what they were going to do and they delivered. They cleaned up well afterwards. Now my home is cozy warm. Another five star review for American HVAC! These guys are great, and were responsive during the little heatwave we had recently. My air-conditioning went out and a very nice man named Paul came out and fixed the problem very quickly. He was wearing a mask, was polite and efficient. I also had a recent experience at my other house In San Carlos with American HVAC A different fellow ( think his name was Kevin, my apologies if got his name wrong) Was kind enough to come out after his shift ended at 8 PM. Despite having come out so late, he was very pleasant... We had a nice chat and he fixed a blown fuse and now I am nice and cool again. You can't go wrong with American HVAC! Highly recommend. Just had to write another review for this company! The first time they came out on a VERY hot summer day to fix my A/C. This time my Nest suddenly stopped working and I just couldn't figure out why. After a few attempts to remedy the problem myself, I called American HVAC. They scheduled an appointment for me the very next day. My Technician, Kirk Edens, came out & quickly diagnosed the problem, helped me install a new Ecobee, and gave me a couple of suggestions to help my furnace run more efficiently. He was knowledgeable, helpful, no pressure and made the whole process so easy! Best part was that they had a special going on so he only charged me $50 for the call!!
