I found Future Auto after the shop / my mechanic of 15 years moved from Burbank to Tarzana. I own four vehicles and they have serviced two of them on a handful of occasions over the past two years. With my engine light on, and my registration and smog due, I figured I was in for it with my 20 year old vehicle. After being referred by a friend and reading the reviews I took a chance. And wow, I was not disappointed. I arrived on a Friday evening before closing. A man Arthur greeted me. Arthur was kind and attentive while lustening to me rant about my car issues. After speaking and listening to what Arthur had to say I felt confident enough to bring my vehicle back on the following Monday morning as recommended. My Boyfriend came here recommended by my insurance and google reviews and was going to do a lot of stuff to my car, i own a Porsche and was really looking forward to bringing along other friends that own Porsche's a few 911's and Boxsters, also since we have desperately been trying to find a place we trust. Well Future auto services is not that trust worthy company, Dont trust Aaron or anyone there. Also when turning in my vehicle to get repaired the mechanic offered to take me home (thats nice, i already signed over my car, i did the paper work) but he offered to use my car even though i brought it in to get serviced..... Ive never heard a business outright say " i dont care if i get the money either way from the insurance company or you it makes no difference to me honestly but no matter what my guys have to get paid" and at the end they tried to sucker me in after diagnosing a problem then absolutely doing nothing sitting on my car for days, i wasnt even able to get a rental car and i had stressed about that and future auto service lagging on giving me info for that. Overall i hated my experience, I totally came in open arms and open mind looking to fix up my Porsche but they are absolutely untrustworthy and thats one way to lose a valued customer. read more

Future auto repair is riding on Chalard's PREVIOUS REVIEWS !!! This is not honest !!! I do not trust them for doing this. This isn't the same shop that has all of these reviews. It used to be Chalard's auto repair run by a nice smart honest man. He sold the business and now there is new management. They are not Chalard's price, quality and honesty. Any reviews before April 2016 are for a completely different shop. Good luck finding a good mechanic. Unfortunately, i just found out that Chalard has sold his shop and is now Called F.A.S (Future Auto Service). These guys told me that Chalard was on vacation but his staff still worked there and that Chalard would be back soon. Everything the new owners said was FALSE, Chalards staff DOES NOT work there and Chalard himself DOES NOT plan to work there again. I have been taking my Honda Accord to Chalards for over 10 years. Great work, Great prices and Chalard is one of VERY FEW mechanics that will tell u exactly whats wrong with your car and not swindle you. This place is under new ownership. Which worried me at first then I dropped my car off (had no idea until I saw the shop was all cleaned up!) This place always had the best prices and was super HONEST. Was nervous things were gonna change. (I never trust mechanics...) Thankfully this place is still great! Repair was done quickly. Customer service was on point. They showed me the damage. And they charged a SUPER reasonable rate. Can't ask for more. They seem to still be in the process of opening up the shop so I hope prices don't rise when their fully open. This place is crazy close to my house and the dudes were really nice. We decided to give Chalard a try after reading reviews on here and after getting outrageous quotes around town from other shops. I have an 03 Saturn pushing 200k and it's begun dying a slow death. Apparently the wheels are the first things to go. We needed a wheel bearing and the rear brakes fixed and had been quoted from 300 - 650 at other shops. Just on a whim we took it to Chalard to get an estimate. He didn't even look up, said "160. Bring it in friday" and that was that. What he lacks in social etiquette he makes up for in speed, price, and quality. And thats not to say he was nasty to us, but we felt like he was kind of blowing us off and wondered if he'd really get to it in the time frame he gave us. He is incredibly busy, so that's likely part of it. He finished it a full day early. I can hear my own thoughts inside my car again. And I didn't have to sell my body to science to get it fixed. Plus, he fixed some extra little things for free - it's running better than it has in 3 years. It is so hard to find a mechanic where you dont feel you just got raped and sold a bunch of crap you didnt need. Chalard is my guy from now on. Also, seriously don't let the appearance of the lot or his kind of dismissive attitude run you off. (The appearance is a plus in my opinion, looks like a really busy chop shop) He takes checks, beats his own time frame and estimate, and takes the time to do little extra things. This place has new ownership. Apparently Chalard's mechanic is still there but I was told Chalard himself was on vacation? Had my car towed to Chalard's after speaking to Peter which seemed really nice & helpful over phone. Car was turning off & stalling after I tried to release clutch while in gear. After a day of trying to diagnose it, Peter called me next morning & explained that the car was running fine & that he cleaned the throttle body for me, "not to worry", "No charge" which was most excellent, reassured me that the new Chalard's would still try to put out good customer service with integrity. I've been going to Chalard's for couple of years now, and every time I just have to say this business is the most honest, fair, and reasonably priced auto repair place I've ever known. The last two times it was even 'no charge' He may be a man of few words but he knows his auto repair. I took my car from another local place where I was told the repair would be 1200.00 plus for a catalytic converter, Chalard's found it to be a $16.00 hose, Kid you not. I went to this mechanic to replace my 2010 Hyundai Elantra's drive belt and alternator belt replaced and they gave me more than what I expected. Not only did they fill up my coolant to where it needed to be, they also gave me a couple of print outs for things that I should get checked up for my car at certain mileages that I otherwise wouldn't know. I may not know what this place was like before it came under new management, but from what I can tell the people who work here are friendly and are doing their best to do honest work. Holy cow, Chalard is AMAZING. I went there with very low expectations about my car--it broke down unexpectedly and the first mechanic I went to quoted me $2800 to fix it, and recommended I just junk the car. I decided to take it to Chalard for a second opinion, and THANK GOD I did. He told me the other guy didn't know what he was talking about and he could do the fix for about $1300. I picked it up the other week, and omg my little car purrs like a kitten. It sounds/drives better than it EVER has. He offered to do a free checkup after 500 miles just to make sure everything is ok. Chalard, you are my automotive savior and a god among men. Other notes: yes, the place looks really terrible from the outside--like a chop shop, actually, but trust your fellow yelpers, things are not as they appear. We blew the engine on our 2005 Chrysler Town and Country.. when the tow truck brought the van over to his shop Chalard paid the driver.. nice! He quoted us $1600 for the heads and then discovered a piston was shot too but didn't charge us more, the part was $400. He also fixed my door locking problem and some other minor repairs.. all inclusive. We were quoted $3000 by another mechanic. Very nice man and to the point. No BS read more

My family is close with Chalard and has been bringing their cars into his shop for many, many years. He'll get the job done, try to save you a dollar, while not cutting corners or with any shadiness. Yes, his place does look crowded and messy, not as pretty as the dealership you're so comfortable with. It's the quality of the work that counts. Don't let the looks of the joint deceive you. I will warn you now, his place is busy. Sometimes it may take a little longer for your car to get fixed but how can you blame him when everyone is trying to go to him to get their cars serviced. If you have the patience, then you'll be fine. If you want it fixed right there and then, you might want to look elsewhere. Besides that, Chalard is legit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FUTURE AUTO SERVICE! Brought in my Audi for a check engine light related to wiring/ connector that I diagnosed and had a general idea of what the repair entailed. These guys were very knowledgeable of German cars and what the general issue was, they were flexible to take my car in right before they closed, and even offered me a ride back home. They called me the next morning with the estimate and had my car out of the shop the following day. They were very fair on pricing and finished my car in a short period of time so I only had to pay for the rental car for just one day! Also their shop is secured with the fence, looks very clean, modern, and well maintained as opposed to many unsecured, old, dirty, and dingy looking shops around. Excellent experience. The starter in my 2000 Toyota 4Runner has been working intermittently and gotten progressively worse over the weekend. I did not want to take it to the dealership as I knew it would be a long wait to get an appointment and ultimately be an expensive repair bill. I have visited this garage several years ago when Mr. Charlard was the owner (great service back then) and decided to go back for this repair. I stopped in late Monday afternoon - Carlos was very welcoming and gave me a fair estimate for the work needed. He got me in first thing the next morning and they did an amazing job replacing my starter - quality work and quick turnaround. I was able to pick up my 4Runner in about 2 hours after dropping it off. The price was very affordable and within my budget. I always take my car here for service and they do a great job with oil changes, tire rotations, checking fluids, and keeping the car on the road. Best price i have found for service. Recently I had to replace the passenger window in my car, and they were significantly cheaper than anyone I could find. Replaced it within 3 hours and even cleaned the broken glass out of the car!! Chalard is an honest businessman in an industry that desperately needs him. I've taken my fiancé's car here on multiple occasions, and including my own project car. Each time, he's always been very transparent and communicative of what the issues were, and how much he'd predict it would cost, and how long it would take. Admittedly if you don't know him, he can come off a bit cold - but that's just his personality. Consider bringing him a gift when you come pick up your car, it always did wonders for us and Chalard always was very appreciative. Will definitely keep coming back as long as I'm a local. read more

Rafo made sure his team repaired my car as soon as possible and had me driving it out the same day I brought it in.  They give you the best deals and are very straight up when it comes to discussing costs and the car problems. This place saved me money & my car!! So what happened was my car was stuck in reverse while I had it on drive. Tried switching it to all the other gears, but it was still stuck in reverse. So I shut off the car to 'reset' it thinking that'll work. Nope! Now it didn't want to start. My car was dead. I'm thinking, there goes my transmission..I would have to cough up a lot money to get this fixed! We towed my car near Chalard's shop last night, which was less than 10mins away & they were already closed. (That tow cost me $100!!!) The next morning, my boyfriend went to the shop briefly told him about the situation and Mr. Chalard just told him to give him the keys, asked where my car was parked, and that he will call him when my car was ready. Mind you, Mr. Chalard was on the phone while my boyfriend was explaining to him where my car was parked and also said that he was busy that day and will try to fit my car in his schedule. Anyway, my boyfriend got a call from the shop about a couple hours later and told him that my car would be ready in an hour and would only cost my $50 for the repair. Yes, only $50!! I was so happy when I heard the news. We picked up my car after I got off from work and it was running smooth. I would highly recommend him to anyone! He is straight to the point!
