Super extensive chart to fill out.. and then the woman at the desk with still ask you for your phone number, email etc.. which you just filled out in the chart. Told me I couldn't use my own lotion because it's oil based and hard to get off the machines. Aka would be forced to purchase one of their bottles ($50+) or buy a single packet for $7.... rip off. I bought the Yelp $20 for $49 and when I got there they told me it was only good for 1 spray tan or 12 minutes on the bronzing bed. Its not a big deal, but I think its worth mentioning that it was mentioned nowhere on the fine print: "Promotion lasts for 1 year from date of purchase. I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews of this place, particularly about the customer service. I've been to the West Village location and loved it, but got an awesome deal through Bloomspot for this location and just started going. Everyone is incredibly helpful and friendly, there's barely a wait, the place is clean and well-kept, and the employees couldn't be nicer. I almost never write reviews, but I figured this place needed some good press. Maybe they've read the reviews and are stepping up their customer service, or maybe some people just had a bad experience, but I highly recommend it. Initially I was pleased with my experience the women working there were very nice but the day after getting a mystic tan (level 2.. the highest they offer) I barely saw any color difference and my chest was completely splotchy. Although I did not have the greatest mystic tan experience Kerri reached out to me and provided excellent customer service. I came to New York for a business trip I was staying in Midtown found this place online read some reviews thought it was great decided to come this evening after work walked in the ladies were nice we had a good conversation I got signed up and I sat there for about an hour and 20 minutes waiting to 10 the systems were down people came in after me several people over 15 they all garden beds I signed up for a cocktail option of both laydown bed and spray tan mystic spray tan machine and the whole experience took an hour and a half my spray tan was fine unfortunately the bed the girl did not listen to me and my needs and I have quite a bit of experience as an experienceDo you know waste your time coming to the salon it's a rip off it's expensive and you don't get the service that you need I'm sure there are other salons that are just as good if not much better read more

I'm giving a one star NOT because of the customer service but solely because of the quality of their service. I needed a tan a day before I had to go on a business trip. I usually just stick to my St Tropez self tanner but I figured since I would be in warmer weather I wanted a "full even tan". After looking through a lot of reviews I ignored the negative and decided to run in to get a booth spray tan. The girl at the front desk was great. Super sweet and assured me my tan would come out dark enough that it would be noticeable. I wouldn't call myself a tanning expert but I've been fake tanning for about 3 years now so I'm definitely used to it looking a certain way. I'm fairly pale naturally, but I followed all the rules: exfoliated all old tan off, didn't moisturize, showered the night before etc. I was told to chose the clear solution to avoid any streaking or harsh mess ups. I also did the "darker" option. My appointment was at 4pm and was told I would see color developing in 6-12 hours. By 9ish I saw NOTHING, called the salon and they assured me it would continue to develop. I ended up leaving it on overnight, saw a ZERO difference when I woke up. I maybe was a shade an a half darker, IF that. I ended up leaving the tan on all day (I know strange but I thought it would work) and still, NOTHING. I didn't sweat, moisturize over the tan, or anything while waiting for it to develop. Within two days of being away (didn't exfoliate, shave or only took warm/cold showers) it was basically gone. SUPER upset with the quality, had to go out and buy a body bronzer for the rest of the trip. Moral of this- do yourself a favor and stick to your personal self tanner that you know is going to work, or go with one of their spray tan artists that you can talk to about how deep of a tan you want. I don't know if it was the booths problem, the solution or just that I was told that it was going to be a lot darker than it was. I made the mistake of wasting money on a tan that didn't make a shade of a difference!!!!!!!! AVOID THE BOOTHS! read more

I will always go back! The staff was incredible and answered any questions I had! I often went on my lunch break to avoid the 6pm little rush after work. This is the WORST tanning salon by far. it is nice but it is extremely over priced! but besides that, it is the worst customer service i have ever encountered! i bought a package with a special and i don't tan very much at all, but i bought the package bc there was something free associated with it and i got roped it bc the regular prices were SO absurd so i went for the special. big mistake!!! apparently points expires after one year, which i knew, so fine ok. a week before my remaining points expired, i called this place and asked to speak to the manager to see if she would extend the points from the package for a few days, a FEW days. not asking for a miracle here!!! i don't tan often so i didn't get to use them within a year, and i don't live near this place, so i figured I'd call and ask to extend them for a few days so i could use them before the weekend, b/c i had a wedding to go to. I called this manager, FOUR times!!!! and i NEVER received a call back from her, so i ended up going in and tried to use the points a few days after they 'expired." since she wasn't at the salon, the girl at the desk put me on the phone with the manager. the girls didn't know how to deal with points being expired so she hands me the phone, and its the manager being a complete b*tch about how i cant use my expired points unless i bought more points. then she proceeds to tell me that she didn't call me back bc i wasn't a paying customer anymore, and that paying customers get preferential treatment, and she could only extend my points and have them not expire if i bought more points, aka i had to buy the same amount of points that were expiring. she was so rude and that is the b*tchiest reason to not call someone back! i cant believe this lady runs a business in NYC of all places!!! i was completely taken back, bc this really is horse sh*t. i don't tan, this place isn't near my apt, why would i buy more points? the very least she could have done was called me back and told me that before i schleped there. or maybe she couldn't have extended it for me since it was only a few days later since i made the effort to call FOUR times and made the effort to show up, only a few days after they expired. NO she couldn't do that, and she didn't have the courtesy to call me either because i guess i wasn't worth of her time. the best part was, was when i asked to speak to the owner bc i thought this was absurd and she was so rude, she told me she was the owner! hah! if that's how she thinks you run a business, she's a freaking idiot. good luck with your business and I'm sure it will fail. because that is NOT how you treat a paying customer. read more

Terrible. I've been to a lot of places for spray tans - both the booth and the live sprayer and this is by far the worst. I tried this place out because it is close to my apartment and super convenient. I popped in on my way home from work last week, got mystic spray "medium" (I am pale Irish..so that is usually pretty dark on me), left it on 12 hours as recommended and it barely developed. Well, I figured maybe it was a fluke and that I would give it a second try this past week. I went in and asked to have the dark spray...the girl behind the desk actually said to me..a paying customer..."you can go in now, but you need to make it really fast, I have someone else coming in like..right now" Seriously?? Anyway..I went in...supposedly had the "dark" spray, waited 12 hours....guess what? Almost no color...again. What I did have was these awful streaks of color that ran down the back of both my legs...pretty. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I'll be going back to my old place in Chelsea - Hollywood Tans. They are more expensive and less conveniently located for me BUT, they're professional, their facilities are much nicer and their product works...a medium spray works perfectly every time. Think twice before you spend your money here when there are many more professional places to go.... read more

I bought a deal from lifebooker, 2 airbrush tans for $39. Such an amazing deal! Besides the fact that this place is in Times Square, the tourist capital of the world, and makes me want to punch everyone while walking there, I'm super happy with my purchase! The girl who does the airbrushing is so sweet and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable being almost fully naked. She also knows what she's doing and I'm always happy with the results. Further, it's not too hard to get an appointment and you don't have too long before they take you in. Overall great experience. Wish they'd open more locations. read more

It's central to Penn Station and Port Authority. The staff is really friendly and helpful and they offer great package deals. By far they have the best beds excellent customer service very nice ladies at the front desk the whole place it's really nice people that said that it's not kept up that well it's because this is in New York City and the buildings are old! I can tell you this place is extremely clean and is kept up very well that was just somebody else complaining this is the place to go to! And the prices are very competitive totally fair! im so mad Oh so sad that i choose this salon right before my shoot i bought spray tan and staff (short blonde) told me theres deal if you get one you will get second free, and , my bad, i told her im going to be gone next week , so i dont really need this deal , what she did after that is really weird , she told me that she will forward me to another booth because mystic tan is broken , and i was standing there for half an hour(lol) likea fool , waiting at least something to spray on me , instead i got air tan session , i asked her what is going on and she told me,- its their new booth and that its feels just like air but instead im getting amazing tanning session and its supposed to be visible after 4 hours.... yea right .... i woke up and of course there was no tan(i actually hoped on something) Called in the evening and another staff told me to come by to get my tan and that booth might been empty last night So i came there again and this time it sprayed me just a small bit (brunette girl told me she will make same level as last time, although i had no any levels at all i seen that little knob was down to zero for the volume of tan first time, so this time i didn't know what to expect ) anyway , i got something spraying it didn't show off on my skin after 4 hours and i feel like i've been victim of racists (im european) or people who make a lot of money on tourists , even if i've been living in new york for few years ... ....and i remember my first visit there i was staying in marquee and was searching for tan , went there , and staff convinced me that one session in a normal tan booth in USA cost not less than 35 bucks , i was shocked but i payed , and in few days i found out how she fooled me over, i think this is how they make money over there , very sad , but hope i save somebody's money and patience right now Will never visit this place again read more

This place is great. The beds are always super clean and the staff is always helpful and informative while smiling. I feel welcomed each time I come here not like some other tanning salons that make you feel like you are bothering them by coming. The girls who work here will answer all your questions about tanning. I was able to get a great tan in just 1 week with 4 sessions. The prices are a little bit high but this is midtown after all. I would recommend to anyone to check it out. My only gripe with this place is sometimes it's very hot inside as the ventilation system doesn't seem to be able to support the heat that comes from the tanning beds. After my long search for the perfect tanning salon in the city, Future Tan Midtown is it. I am now a frequent tanner specifically at this location; the machines provided are the best you will find in the city for sure. Not only that but if you really want to learn and get the best possible coloration, everyone there knows their UV-free spray and tanning bed capabilities, (plus they do custom airbrushing!) Also I always ask whats the best lotion for my skin type and if it has certain elements I don't like. They always pick the best one for me, or tell me about the new latest lotions coming soon. After visiting a majority of the tanning salons in the city, Future Tan has the best deals and overall prices I have found. They have plenty of options for everyone, even if you are coming for just one try, 2 or 3 times a week, or even unlimited monthly!!! I have moved everywhere along the east coast and been to plenty of tanning salons. Future tan is exceptionally great because the beds show results instantly. I started future tan last week, with a mystic spray tan. It was fast, simple, and not streaky. This week I've been tanning in the 1100 bed. After two days in it, I'm already dark. My husband just had his second airbrush tan for a competition and the girls have been amazing, he was his first time having a spray tan but they have made him feel at ease. I had a lay down uv bed and the beds are really good, you can choose to have higher or lower intensity in the face. Great place, highly recommend. I decided to try this place after finding a coupon on their website for first timers that you can get two free tans with the purchase of one. So even though I think their walk-in price of $35 for mid-level is a bit pricey, the fact that I was actually getting three tans for that price made it worth the cost. I thought that the customer service was fine, she did not try to sell me on anything that I didn't need, and you can borrow goggles if you forget which is kind of nice, though I will do my best to bring mine and use my own. I thought that the bed was great...my only complaint is that either the temperature control was not working or I could not figure it out and just gave up after a minute of smashing buttons. So it was a little hot for my taste, but still enjoyable. I will definitely be going back to use my other two free tans, and will probably buy some package after that. read more

I have very fair skin and can be a little afraid of tanning booths as normally the people try to bake me and I end up leaving burnt. I spoke with the owner and she was beyond helpful. She suggested for the most bang for my buck I do a "double-dip" where I got a tiny base tan in one of the standup machines and then get a mystic tan on top of that. The stand -up booth was pretty normal, but I did see that they have some really high-tech booths for more experienced tanners, or pretty much anyone with a little more color than I (most everyone - ha!). The mystic spray tan was the coolest part. I had visions of turning out like Ross from friends, but it was actually very easy and they were super helpful telling me exactly what to do to help everything look natural. There was no icky smell afterwards and I was able to get dressed right away and go out on the town. The next morning I woke up with the most beautiful looking skin. Not even a little orange - totally gorgeous. It lasted for over two weeks and I still have a "healthy glow". Even though I'm not a regular tanner I will definitely be back and would recommend them for those tanning novices like myself. read more
