Ordered via Doordash and it was by my own accord that some pieces of sushi could not be eaten. I made sure I put no wasabi on every single item, but almost every box had huge globs of wasabi, so due to the travel and movement, some pieces got that wasabi. Oh well. So although I can't talk about the ambiance, the quality it something I can. We ordered about $250 worth of food for 4 people. Delivery was about ~$20 because of a tip. Here is what we got: 1. Veggie Tempura: good assortment, however very small. 2. Gyoza: due to travel time it may have been less crispy, but it was good flavor. 3. Crispy Rice: the crispy rice was good, but almost stale like, so it was a bit texturally different. Sashimi: 1. King Salmon: it was good but disliked the wasabi on top. 2. Salmon: nice and fresh; I did like it. 3. Hamachi: it was fresh and very light. 4. Tuna: honestly disliked this one the most. It was a bit fish-y. 5. Octopus: I surprisingly liked this! It wasn't as chewy as I thought it would be. Nigiri: 1. Wagyu Nigiri: the meat was a bit too tough, and for almost $17 it was a bit spendy. 2. Salmon: Rice to fish ratio was okay. 3. King Salmon: Loved the flavor with rice better than just sashimi. Rolls: 1. House Roll: I loved the flavor and nice presentation. 2. Yellow Tail jalapeño: The yellowtail was great but the large chunks of Jalapeño was not my favorite. 3. Avocado: Basic, nothing special 4. Tuna Maki: it was good, but again the tuna was not my favorite. Miso soup and salad were all just basic. Overall I would love to try this in person
Yes. This is the place for great sushi! The food here is on par, with the batman roll being my all time favorite. The batman roll has a tempura fry on it, making it fresh and crispy. I also get a couple basic rolls, such as california roll, boston roll, and a cucumber roll. Their spicy edamame is a great starter as well. The staff is friendly and very quick. People usually takeout here, so the restaurant isn't super busy inside - but it's very clean and worth to sit in.

What used to be Shoyu Sushi on Tower and Hampden is now Fuyu Sushi at Quincey and Buckley. While I prefer the old location quality certainly hasn't changed and definitely not service. The restaurant has an interesting layout as there are booths tucked away on the way to the restrooms while the majority of the dining area is located close to the sushi bar. They have lunch specials and serve hamachi kama (yellow tail collar) the traditional way with ponzu sauce and radishes. Anytime is a good time to dine in or take out. The black canyon roll is something I would certainly recommend! Overall a wonderful and solid experience. Been here numerous times and that will not change! Arrive hungry. Leave satisfied!
Fuyu Sushi has done it again!!!!! The rolls are always fresh and such great quality, I love trying new things on their menu and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. We visited with friends that had a newborn and the staff was really helpful in helping us get situated at our table and checked in on us to make sure we were happy with our food. The Batman Roll was SO good, I tried a couple of new things this time around including the garlic edamame which was delicious. Why have regular edamame if you can have some with garlic on it? Our friends were equally impressed with the meal and I look forward to coming back again to try the whole menu!!!
Great Japanese cuisine for the value. Perfect place for lunch. For $20 my wife got karage, takoyaki, and miso soup. My tonkatsu ramen was $14. All of the dishes were good and the service was great. Our waitress took the time to explain the difference in their ramen choices. There wasn't much of a wait for our orders. The area was clean and inviting. Parking is limited but we found a good spot regardless.
So we're originally from Cali and it's been so difficult to find a great tasting sushi spot. I looked up this place and my search is officially over! The food was absolutely delicious!! We ordered Shrimp Tempura Roll, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice (6) Miso Soup Tamago -Sushi Spicy Salmon Roll With Mango. And the cherry on top was our server- Fiona! Fiona was extremely attentive and sweet. Definitely coming back here! The restaurant whats great presentation and look extremely kept up! Highly recommend.
BACK AGAIN!! This place has really made an impression on me!! The fish is fresh and the preparation is amazing!! We ordered a little too much but we got to take it home and have it the next day!! Our peppy server was Fiona who was especially sweet to us and took care of the whole room on a busy Friday evening. We sat on the smaller side of the restaurant and found it to be very cozy. The ceiling had a cool wavy design and there were funky Asian food shows on the TVs. It was a lovely experience.
My sister has driven by several times and commented they are busy at lunch & dinner. Google says they opened in March 2024. I was expecting a small lunch menu, but actually the entire menu is available. When I arrived, I was seated at a padded booth table instead of the bar. They have a short bar and a separate sushi bar. They have t.v.'s, but they were muted without text. The drinks menu has hot & cold Sake + Soju, beer, wine and cocktails. Also soft drinks including Ramune soda. I was served by Fiona. I got a Coedo Shiro. This a hefeweizen style wheat beer from Japan. The Saphir hops gave it a smooth finish. I got the Spicy Kani salad with crab & cucumber topped with crunch and tobiko. A wonderful salad. Wooden chopsticks are offered. I didn't see silverware. My entree was the Rocky Mountain Roll. Yummy with lobster tempura, crab meat, mango topped with lobster salad & avocado. Nice presentation and colorful. But the contents make it difficult to roll it tight enough to pickup with chopsticks. I ended up pouring the wasabi & soy sauce over individual pieces instead of dipping. I got a complimentary dessert of Goma Dango, a sesame covered rice flour ball filled with red bean paste. Overall, a great lunch. No automatic service charge. They have Happy Hour Sunday-Thursday 430pm-630pm with purchase of beer or sake and get 2nd one free.
If you were once a fan of Shoyu on Hampden and Tower and are bummed out that it's no longer there, then head to Fuyu Sushi because that's where they moved and rebranded themselves into! Their lunch specials still exist and their amazing server/waitress still provides top notch service with a smile. Also, their space is much larger now so waiting for a table shouldn't be too much of an issue. Onto the foods! Their yellowtail rolls and appetizers are always a must for me. Why? They never skimp. Plus, they now have an uni pasta dish and who doesn't love pasta? Especially mixed with some creamy uni. Drooooooool.
First week in business and nailing a five-star review?! Hell to the yeeeaah, that's how Fuyu Sushi rolls. See what I did there? Okay, now that that's out of the way, let's focus on what we all really came here for - the steaming hot tea, or should I say hot sake, that is Fuyu Sushi! First, the SPACE. If you came here before, during its former life as Hana Sushi, you know it was in need of a facelift. Wowza, did they get it! They swapped out the crowded glass tables and brushed steel details, for warm woods and a "less is more" concept. I love it! Second, the STAFF. They were just so damn friendly and excited to be open. The host seated us and offered us hot sake on the house to celebrate their grand opening. She also brought us little cream puffs at the end of our meal as well. Third, the SIPS. Fuyu Sushi offers the usual sipping staples that you expect from a sushi joint, including: Ramune, Sapporo, hot sake, and more! Fourth, the BITES. This is what we're really here for, right? Well, I always have to start with crab cheese wontons. While I enjoyed them, I was disappointed that they come as an order of 5. There's no good way to break that up. After that we ordered three rolls: Philadelphia (smoked salmon, avocado, and cream cheese), Batman (deep-fried roll with crab meat, avocado, jalapeño, and cream cheese), and White River (crab meat and avocado inside, topped with seared white tuna, and tobiko, cilantro sauce). They were all fresh and delicious. My husband and I both really like the White River roll the best. They even offer up ramen now! Yum! Lastly, the SERVICE. I know, I already mentioned the staff, but how can you not mention the staff again when they literally make the experience. They even hooked us up with a mailer on the way out for a discount next time we come in. Make sure you pop on by Fuyu Sushi and see what all they're rolling, serving, and slinging up - you won't be disappointed!
Came here on a whim, was just looking for local sushi spots. The nigiri was amazing. The miso soup; not too salty. The gyozas; lots of flavor and not overcooked. The chef sent out a couple custom specials on the house, which was pretty awesome. Recommend the young yellowtail. Light and fluffy, full of flavor. The service was on point. Hospitality had us thinking that we're definitely coming back! Definitely a nice environment and a good meal for sure.
Nice, first time experience at Fuyu Sushi! Came in for a date night on Saturday, and the place had a good crowd. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was very attentive to us and the guests at neighboring tables. We tried the crab cheese wontons (pretty good! The sauce is sweeter and different than most) and four different sushi rolls: Philadelphia, Rainbow, Rocky Mountain, and Hawaiian. We enjoyed all of them! Our waitress gave us free sake and cream puffs! It wasn't the reason for the five star review, but good service goes a long way. :)
Stopped by Fuyu Sushi for their lunch specials and left pretty satisfied. We ordered the sushi lunch and sashimi lunch specials, and they actually combined everything onto two boats for us, which was a nice touch and made the presentation feel fun and generous. The fish tasted fresh, portions were solid for a lunch special ($14 is a steal), and everything came out nicely arranged. Definitely a good value if you're craving sushi midday during the week. Came with miso soup. Service-wise, our waitress/hostess was clearly hardworking and very kind. The only small thing was that she cleared our dishes super quickly. She took away my miso soup before I was fully finished! But she was genuinely nice and attentive otherwise, so it didn't take away from the overall experience. The restaurant itself is pretty nice. Bathroom may need cleaning up a bit, but I mainly care about the food and service. Would come back again for the lunch specials! read more

We went for dine-in and I was hopeful/excited that they had new menus and what seemed to be quality staff all around. The food was great! Well, the spicy cucumber salad wasn't spicy at all and almost sweet. But the "bad" part was the server. The booth behind us (already seated when we arrived) received complimentary dessert (sesame balls/mochi, patrons left them behind untouched) and the other booth (seated after us, with a very obnoxious child) got towels to wash hands before eating. We got none of that. Instead, while I'm actively working through my meal, chopsticks in hand, server returned with the check and held it out in front of my face, expecting me to stop eating, put down the chopsticks, interrupt my pace, accept the check folio, wait until she cleared a space for me to set it back down before I could resume enjoying my meal. I stared at her until she decided to thrust it in my husband's face before clearing his sushi plate so he could accept the folio, set it down and wait while I finished. I wasn't offended by the offer of forks, that's common when it's us two older white people, but the disparity of service was RUDE. Food was great but that server. Yeeeesh. read more

I really liked the flavor and the freshness of the sushi. I ordered Philadelphia rolls and avocado and tuna rolls. The ramen was good too. Nice service! And the place feels comfy. read more

Ok viewers trying this place for the first time and strike 1. We ordered Hot Tea and the flavor started off great then my wife noticed her cup was chipped and ask for another one so he goes back behind the bar and transfer the same cup of tea to another cup instead of replacing the cup and the hot tea fresh. Service is attentive but understanding what patrons want maybe an issue. Clean place so that's a plus. Food arrived looking oh so scrumptious and presentation was good but still needed a little flavor just me everyone's different Food taste was good so you guys redeemed yourselves with that but let's work on that communication gap friends Good prices but doesn't compare to the good one but you have to start somewhere Would definitely try again read more

Recently had the opportunity to visit Fuyu for dinner. We ordered the sushi sampler and some special rolls; mango roll and ocean king. Inside the restaurant was quiet and a bit slow while we were there and service was very quick due to that. Overall the sushi was good but not great. Found that some of the fish just had no flavor (while I'm glad it wasn't bad flavor or just wasn't there). The rolls were very large and difficult to eat because of that. I was really surprised at how much eel was on the plate for the ocean king roll. My partner was happy for that reason alone. On the ocean king though the balance was eel and crab and I personally felt the eel took over the flavor and could be simplified to be very tasty. Overall not a bad spot, but knowing sushi Totoro is right across the street, I'd prefer their sushi which is a good size, good price and good flavors over fuyu. read more

the food was incredible; we had house salads (LOVED THE DRESSING!), baked mussels (don't forget the lemon- it makes it), Edemame- came out hot and fresh, then we got rolls!! And ALL of them were soooo good! Exactly what we were looking for- we will definitely be back!! read more

Although I am sad to see Hana Sushi go, that place was always empty. It was rare that my husband and I were not the only people dining there. Now Fuyu Sushi that took over is amazing! It is located in the Vasa shopping center at Buckly and Quincy in Aurora. We walked in and the place was packed. More people than I have ever seen in that building. They updated the decor and furniture. Glad to see the glass tables go. Always made it hard to take photos of my food and it showed every little mess I make while eating sushi,lol. The service was great! He was attentive, quick and very friendly. He even brought us sliced pineapple with sprinkled tajin at the end because he said the owners bought way too much. The food is better than Hana as well. The sliced of yellowtail and salmon were thick. Very thick. I loved it. Great deal for the price for sure. The tempura batter was nice and light. Loved the asparagus tempura the best. So good and fresh. My only complaint is we got 2 sushi rolls. One was sliced sideways and so thin everything just fell apart and the other the rice wasn't packed well and crumbled when you pick it up. Otherwise, I am a huge fan. I have a feeling we will be there more often than we had before. Great update to this place! read more
