Most of the town is shutting down at 6pm because of strict covid rules. However, they can stay open until 8pm per Durango's covid rules. 98% of the shops along Main Street were closed when we got off the Polar Express Train Ride. We wanted to walk downtown to check out the town, and maybe buy a souvenir to take home. (I've started collecting hats for some reason, probably cuz I wear them when I hike, and it's a fun little reminder of my time in such and such city) This little candy shop is open until 8pm which brought joy to my grandson. Normally I wouldn't even walk into a candy store, but my grandson wanted to get some candy, and why not, we are on vacation right, and everything else is closed, except for a couple souvenir shops on main street. Upon entering you walk right into a shop that reminds me of the magic of the North Pole. This is what Christmas magic is all about. Candy, Candy, Candy everywhere is candy, and Christmas music. What a selection to choose from. I bought some fudge, (supposedly made locally) , and my grandson pick out some other type of candies. The young man that helped us was ever so friendly, maybe because it's Christmas time? I'm not sure how these little shops are going to make it, but I hope they do. My grandson bought some candy, I don't remember which kind, and off we went walking down a dark bare Main Street with hardly anyone out. It was nice looking into the store front windows at little shops that are not part of a chain. I brought my kids in to spend 10 bucks each- I was being generous as we were on vacation. We visited on Thurs Oct 17. The store was basically empty. Almost all of the bins were empty or near empty. It was so sad! I asked the girl at the counter and she said they don't restock during their "slow" season. So why remain open? My kids basically filled their bags with candy crumbs. Very disappointing to say the least. Usually Fuzziwig's has a great variety when we had visited other locations. Next time in Durango, we'll visit Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory down the street. read more

They even have a nice selection of chocolates and sugar free candies and the kids working here are nice and helpful. We did not find them to be overbearing in the least. Walking around town with some of our family, the expressions on the faces of our grandchildren when we walked into this store were priceless! Of course we couldn't leave empty handed! Quality and selection are great. We didn't see prices posted for the candy, and it might be more than we'd usually pay. However, the smiles compensated for the slightly higher prices. read more

You can't really mess up the job of "running a candy store," can you? These folks sure don't. Fuzziwig's was our last stop before our five and a half hour road trip back to Colorado Springs. We had stopped in the previous afternoon and wanted to pick up some Zuberfizz soft drinks for the road, but unfortunately our hotel (the Strater, right across the street from this shop) doesn't have in-room refrigeration. So we held off on checking out of the Strater till 10:00a just so we could stop into Fuzziwig's to pick up some Zuberfizz and fudge for the road. We'll definitely visit again in the future. Environment: It's a fun and relatively spacious candy store. We never felt crowded by other customers, even though there were several more in the store. As for decor, nothing to complain about here - wall to wall candy! Environment: 5/5 Service: This is where you make or break a store like this, since I think it's hard to differentiate on candy alone. Our Monday afternoon interaction with two young members of the staff and our Tuesday morning interaction with the woman who opened the store could not have been better. Everyone asked if they could help, offered us samples of fudge, and asked whether we were visiting, where we were from, and actually seemed somewhat interested in hearing what we had to say. We were also able to learn a little more about life in southwest Colorado by talking to the staff. Fuzziwig's employees are great! Service: 5/5 Food: We appreciated the wide selection of mass-market candies, as well as more local, handcrafted fare. We did purchase a couple of small blocks of fudge which were very good but, being from Colorado Springs, we were already very accustomed to the marketing concept of "high altitude fudge." As far as we're concerned, fudge is fudge, and it's delicious no matter the altitude! We also appreciated the selection of Zuberfizz, considering we'd never even heard of the brand before visiting Durango.
