We came here yesterday and I got a dark chocolate marshmallow. It was so good but then a couple of minutes later my stomach started hurting from all the sugar that happens all the time we went on a train ride we thought this would be a good place to have a sweet on the Fourth of July. The service was nice and kind of silly but not too silly for us. We like silly in our family. We didn't sit inside of the shop since there were no seats, but probably if there were seats it would be cool seats. I had been going to the chocolate factory my whole life. Growing up, I would always go there when I was downtown to look at and get fancy chocolate treats. The raspberry truffle became my favorite, as a kid. I even sent chocolates from the chocolate factory overseas to penpals. Anytime someone would visit, I made sure that they made a stop at the chocolate factory. I continued to love the chocolate factory until my friend started working there and so much was exposed to me about the work environment. My friend was not treated well as an employee and I now understand why they are always hiring. I even got kicked out of the chocolate factory one day only because they knew I was the friend of one of the workers, so they concluded that I was loitering, despite the fact that I purchased chocolate. It was really shocking to me that that happened in a place I had been going to and buying chocolates from my entire life. I also received unkind remarks on multiple occasions, while my friend worked there. I will say, however, that the chocolates are delicious! I love the toffees, fudge, and caramel apples. We love this company and their Chocolates. Here they clearly need to work on customer service. I was with my friend and her four kids, so we had our hands full to say the least. We got two caramel apples and one of the girls handed them to us in the middle of paying. We realized they were not cut and when we asked to have them cut where told another girl said they could not take them back behind the counter. At first it seemed like she was going to make an exception then she became noticeably irritated when we explained that we weren't even asked of we would have liked them cut, stating "you have to ask for them to be cut." Great customer service would have been to offer knowing we could not get that option after taking them. Great customer service would have been apologizing for that not being explained before giving us the apples. It's so sad to see such poor representation of a great company. It literally ruined our overall experience. I hope she learns some empathy and will practice excellence in the future. read more

They were sold out of chocolate dipped strawberries on the day we went. :( The caramel/chocolate covered apples were yummy and huge. The chocolate dipped bananas and cheesecake are pre- dipped. The just take the plastic wrap off and hand it to you. I was major bummed. Just bought carmal apples n chocolate at the store. Disappointed in the cashier. So unpleasant. I love going to the RMC factory. The lively smell n cheer staff but not today. Even though I know we have Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factories out here in Phoenix, the only time we ever go is when we are walking around town in Durango. Its a treat we give ourselves when we are in town. Usually once or twice each time we are in town, we walk up and down Main street to check out all of the local shops and at the end of our walk we wander into RMCF to grab some sweets to take back home. In the past we would get an entire pound to take home but this trip we are not only watching our budget but also our waistlines, we each got one. My husband likes the rocky road and almond bark in dark chocolate, while I prefer the dark chocolate dipped pretzels and haystacks. There is enough variety in here to make everyone happy. Lots of dipped apples, fudge, and candies to satisfy any sweet tooth. Just make sure you watch the total as it adds up quick. It can get a little expensive since treats are priced by the pound for most of them. read more

this place is good, but for me its nothing special. The prices would suggest something amazing, but it just doesn't measure up to the fine chocolate that you think you're paying for. The white chocolate is very good. The milk chocolate is just ok. They have boxes of assorted pieces, but they are too expensive. I stop by every now and then when Im down town with the kids, but we just buy one piece for each of us. Yes, it is good. I just wish it was less expensive for what you get. read more

They even ask what day you want them delivered so I picked 2 day shipping to arrive on Thursday. It's nice that I was able to track my package with the FedEx tracking number. The strange thing is that the package shipped from Durango, CO and went to Memphis, TN then back to Denver, CO. Why Fed-Ex has to ship via a city 1000 miles away is beyond me. read more

Sending my true feelings after-eating all delicious 8-piece very-good quality pretty box of perfect detailed/styled chocolates in two-days, that came with my Mom's beautiful multi-colored 20-Tulips with a heavy glass vase, and pretty card/note/great directions from ProFlowers, for my February, Birthday! The one filled gift-box, traveled from San Diego, CA, to OK, in perfect condition. The chocolates were the yummy delightful part of the surprise-gift! It was fun trying a new company's flavor, as I am a very-picky chocolate eater.
