3.5 stars... I had been wanting ice cream, but maybe feeling something a little more homemade. This Cold Stone was busy, but seemingly didn't have a lot of flavor options. I got the classic cookie dough ice cream with Reese's (they stuffed two Reese's in here- don't want to imagine the calories), a raspberry sorbet with the graham cracker crust, and a raspberry sorbet with pecans for my dad. The sorbet a perfect non-dairy option. $16 for three small portions, a little pricey and ended up being quite the mess by the time we got it back outside to eat and enjoy (Sadly, I got a photo with my ice cream and the flowers of downtown Durango in the background, but it didn't save on my phone. We just experienced the worst service. Walked in with my kids, nieces and nephews. No one was behind us...the workers were rushing us to make our order, my kids felt intimidated and all just got plain ice cream with no toppings because it was so chaotic. I asked the cashier what the rush was and was told "our employees get a little flustered when there's a lot of people" What??! All 5 of the kids were over 8, not crazy loud, stood their quietly and somehow we caused the employees to be flustered? Weird. I was on vacation so we won't be back to Durango anytime soon but when we do go back, we will stick to the local spots. Don't know why we didn't go there in the first place. read more

Don't scream at people when they come in! First rule of business make people feel welcome. We did see the sign, one family (off up to 5) at a time in store, but could not see inside the store. Yes there is sun glare outside, and inside is considerably darker. After opening the door a scream, yes a scream told us to wait outside. We heard the screaming continue and a person came out looking embarrassed and walked away. We waited for the family to come out... having to pass us as we stood at the only entrance/exit with others behind us. We walked into the store, we saw three people serving. After being asked what I wanted I responded to no answer. I pulled down my mask to be heard/understood and again was screamed at to raise my mask in the store. Social distancing at ice cream places is strange but I get it. Despite that weirdness, Coldstone is still a great experience and has the best ice cream! I get a kids size Germanchoklatecake in a plain waffle cone almost every time. It's so good! The Coldstone brownies are the best anywhere, soft and flavorful even after being added to the freezing ice cream. I like it mixed into a sweet cream base personally but I forgot this time and it was still delicious. The most recent visit was in Durango, CO on Main. They were fast, courteous and clean. Actually walked in at 8 pm and site info says open until 9. Younger female behind counter chatting with two guys clearly social. She looks at us and says sorry we're closed. I asked what time do you close and she said 8. I realized it was exactly 8. Clearly everything was still available so I asked since it had just turned 8, could I please get just one ice cream. She was clearly not interested in working any more today and said no - we're closed. Wow- I hope this business is comfortable turning away customers like this. Terribly rude kids running the place. Dirty shop. And the waffle cones were stale. Huge disappointment. That was a waste of $25.

We walked into a very young group of employees running this place. They were non helpful to the customers on how to order. For any first timers going into a large ice cream place like this it can be a little overwhelming with how you are suppose to order everything, from your scoops of ice cream to the cones. The employees offered little help towards the customers, some of the customers were "older" people. We watched them literally turn around & walk out. How bad is it when you make that happen with a older couple over ice cream ? I realize the employees were young, please just add 1 mature adult in with them to help guide them. Customer service means a lot on where we choose to spend our money & this was a disappointment. read more

What can I say...it's a Cold Stone, just like any other in the nation. You know the drill: the icecream is insipid and gloopy. You want a strong flavor? Some firmness in your icecream? Look somewhere else. The problem extends to their chocolate waffle cones, which are dipped in the most artificial, tasteless fake "chocolate" I've ever eaten. If I'm gonna eat bland mega corp icecream (sigh), at least give me Baskin Robbins... Better yet, try the local icecream shop down the street -- it's not world-class but it sure beats this stuff. read more

I'd give this Cold Stone more stars, but their parking lot is way too tiny and the street parking is usually a hassle because it's so close to many other busy attractions. Their ice cream is good, don't get me wrong. It's worth parking four blocks over... it's just a small location. There's not much room inside, certainly no room for sitting down and enjoying your "Like It, Love It, or Gotta Have It" inside. There are a couple benches and tables outside. Let's just say that if they aren't too busy, cool. Or if you're out walking around town anyway... definitely stop here. But if you're looking for somewhere to relax... this probably isn't going to be the place for you. Again... their ice cream, drinks, and cakes are amazing! The staff is super friendly and the restrooms are clean (that's important, too!). I'd honestly give more stars, it's just the location. read more

Last night, July 2, 2012 my family and I went out to dinner and were looking forward to ice cream afterward at Coldstones. I took my granddaughter and we opened the door to a crowd of people, expected on a hot summer night, and I could see the end of the line. People generously moved over so we could walk to it but before I could a BOOMING voice yells "IF YOU'RE COMING IN FOR ICE CREAM, GET OUT!!! LET THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PAID LEAVE!! GET OUT!! well, I turned around and left. WE went down the street to the yogurt place. The server who yelled was named Carol, and I didn't appreciate being yelled at AT ALL!!!! Love their ice cream! A little expensive but it is really worth it for quality ice cream, I can never eat from baskin and robins again after eating here! My only wish is that they would make their chocolate fudge ice cream year round because they only have it for a couple months out of the year. I am not much of an ice cream fan so there is very few flavors I like so that is why I really wish the chocolate fudge ice cream was year round because it is an awesome flavor!
