The Vail store sells candy to kids that can cause severe harm. My 12 yo son went to the store, purchased an extremely hot gummy, took the gummy candy, and ultimately had a reaction that led to EMS being called. The box specifically says in small print to be consumed by adults only, yet the cashier still sold it to a child, didn't warn my son, and didn't ask for ID to prove he was 18 and over. When my wife went to the store to warn them that they shouldn't sell that specific candy to kids because of the risk involved (hoping to prevent other kids from having the same reaction), the manager blew it off and essentially said there are warnings on the box. In speaking to my son, he thought it was a marketing ploy on the box, didn't really understand how hot it could be, the units of heat, and didn't understand the risk involved. We sent the kids to the store to buy candy thinking it was a kids' candy store, and that the risk would be essentially zero from a consumption standpoint. The response from this store was disappointing. If an adult is with child, then I understand the parents have a responsibility to mitigate risk. However, if you send kids into a proper candy store to buy candy unaccompanied, then there's an element of responsibility on the store to not sell adults-only candy to children. It was pretty clear that the manager wasn't interested, and I've reached out for the owner to call me. read more

First of all, how could you not love a candy store called "Fuzziwigs"? We wandered in during the off season so no masses of children, in fact we had the place to ourselves. We were able to take in the incredible variety of candy offered along with our own childhood nostalgia for all of the candy you don't see sold in normal stores today. We left with some turtles and english toffee which was incredible. I ate it all in one sitting, no shame. You have to stop in here and try something from their counter at least! read more

BEST ICE CREAM EVER! What a selection! My head was spinning! Old-fashioned hard candies from the 1920s & 30s are back! I can't think of anything that was missing. This candy store has it all. Stopped in for fudge, and also purchased chocolate covered Oreos, peanut clusters, chocolate covered Twinkie, and a "Moreo" (a Reese's peanut butter cup placed in the middle of an Oreo cookie and the entire thing dipped in chocolate). They also served ice cream and non-chocolate candies. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 - the choc covered Twinkie didn't have much flavor. Everything else tasted great! read more

This fuzzywigs is the most professional and clientele loving place. I don't know why anyone would feel the need to add a review about their child buying a candy without their supervision. This is a candy store not a liquor store, and definitely not a daycare where your children are watched every step of the way. BEWARE! Fuzziwigs sells the worlds hottest gummy bear. All fun and games until they sell it to a kid and 911 needs to be called. When telling the manager, he responds with a shrug and a terse "warnings are written all over the box." Nice. No "sorry to hear that happened but there are warnings on the box" or "we'll do our best to not sell to kids without an adult present". Obviously I would be the first person to review a new candy store in Vail that is totally marketed towards children -- located where the Laughing Monkey used to be (or, as I like to call it, the weirdest clothing store ever to stay in business for 15 years) -- Fuzziwig's is a welcome addition to the village. In contrast to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Fuzziwig's is DIY -- a nightmare for parents whose children will then proceed to fill entire bags with vast amounts of candy they cannot consume, but like the best holiday ever for a neurotic glutton with a sweet tooth like me! They must be doing something right though, and I say this for several reasons: 1) My cousin who is crazy allergic to peanuts was so enraptured by the 20 colors of M & Ms he could mix together that he filled a bag with a lovely coral, orange mixture EVEN THOUGH HE COULD NOT EAT THEM. He just wanted to look at them. 2) In Steamboat (I think?), they ran Rocky Mountain out of business in 1 year. While RMCF has been in Vail since 1983, Fuzziwig's was packed each time I went in there. 3) Selection is chocolate heavy, but also with a lot of Jelly Bellies, ice cream, and gummy candies for those who are crazy and do not like the ambrosial nectar of the gods. It's $10.99/lb for most of the candy and they have some banging truffles, creative caramel apples, caramels, fudges, and pretzels that are $19.99/lb. In addition, they have some "old time" candy and toys over which every Latin American child in the vicinity of the store seems to go wild for unclear reasons. Critiques -- 1) they need to put labels on everything -- everything kind of starts to look the same when it's coated in chocolate, yogurt, etc. 2) For as much stock as they have, the store is really cramped -- hard to navigate unless you're pushy. Overall, not a bad place to ruin any diet. read more

If you are a kid in Vail, or even just a kid at heart, you'll end up at Fuzzywigs. It reminded me of something out of Harry Potter. We made it an after dinner tradition to walk by and pick up something sweet. The night air and sparkling lights gave the walk and air of fun. This place is great! Minus one star because this place could easily be anyone's tipping point for developing claustrophobia! It's tiny 4ft pathway around the store is ALWAYS PACKED with loitering tourist families toting the ski gear of their 10 children who are all crashing like ogres through the store in their ski boots. Not fun! But the selection is fabulous. They literally have everything from fudge to nostalgia candy to Japanese soda pop. They also have a selection of toys and stuffed animals in the back. I'm all veggies and plain yogurt at home but on vacation I indulged in hand-dipped chocolate pretzels, truffles, Nerds a load of other vintage candy items that brought me back to my childhood (and probably up to the next pants size). TERRIBLE customer service! My husband and I stopped in for candy where I waited for about 5 min standing at the chocolate section. There were two employees standing right in front of me (they saw me and I was in plain sight) chatting and neither one asked what I would like or offered to assist me. When my husband came up to the register to pay he had to tell them I would like to buy something. Completely unacceptable. Although the candy is good we will be taking our business elsewhere in the future and shopping in stores where excellent customer service is the standard. read more
