On vacation, this has been our go-to restaurant. We've stopped in four times while staying in Sarasota, and every visit there was great. As we were leaving Florida, we decided to stop at the Lakeland location for one last meal, and it was incredibly disappointing. The cashier was very sweet, but unfortunately the food was not good. I ordered the birria tacos and there were maybe two tiny pieces of beef in them. I also asked for them to be well done, but they were covered in black, charcoal-like residue from the grill, as if it hadn't been scraped or cleaned. We visited around lunchtime (12:00 p.m.), so I wasn't expecting that. My partner's beef tacos had about a spoonful of taco meat, and the beans were so watery they were more like soup. My daughter ordered a kids' meal with fries, and after tasting one, it was obvious the fryer oil needed to be changed. When we went to get our soft drinks, we noticed mold around the ring of the ice machine, which was very concerning. To top it off, we ordered churros because the Sarasota location had been waiting on their truck to get them in. We were excited since the menu advertised a basket of mini churros, but instead we were served two churros that were only about 1.5 inches long. For $4, it was definitely not what we expected. There birra tacos are Small compared to every other place I've been and they are 4.50 each! my order was 28 DOLLARS for 5 birra tacos and 1 large drink and i threw in a 4 dollar tip so $32 the sauce they give you to dip the tacos in are not good compared to other places. read more

Met some friends here on a Monday night. Had never heard of this place before. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or not but our server was also working the bar as well. She was great though. Hustled back and forth and was on top of everything. I ordered the brisket quesadilla. It was ok. Quite juicy. Hot sauce on the table was a good addition. Overall a good experience. Ordered catering for 50 people, after picking it up and getting to the event we realized they hadn't given us the meat. I called and was treated extremely bad, had to drive there to get it which meant the dinner was late and the rest of the food was cold. So,order my food for pickup,and ,what I got could only be described as an utter failure. It was a simple order,two pork carnita bowls,one with guacamole, and one without.Both had guacamole and both had holes in the bottom of the to go containers..Rice is not supposed to be Al dente(so undercooked) and the pork had the texture and smell of high end wet cat food.This place is just so sad.Taco Bell would be a better choice if you are looking for pretend Mexican food. read more

I stopped by Fuzzy's to pick up a to-go order. I was really looking for a fast food spot with REAL (or more authentic) food. Well, Fuzzy's seemed to have just that! I ordered the brisket quesadilla and the food was very flavorful and cooked well. I picked up my order from the bar area and ordered a frozen margarita, with an extra shot, to go. What a cool option! Went to the restaurant on Valentine's Day evening with some friends. This was my first experience with the restaurant. I had a great time with my friends but I was rather disappointed with the food. The tacos I got were dry, rather flavorless as was the Margarita (watered down I added the lime) and chips and salsa (not pictured). The tacos and salsa could have used some moisture and salt. Chips and salsa weren't really worth the money I paid for them. The service was slow and even though it was Valentine's Day, it wasn't overly busy. When you walk in you get a choice of full service or self service. Self service you go to register and order food then get a buzzer and wait for it to go off. Full service is supposed to be where you get service at the table. We sat at a table on full service side for fifteen minutes, my husband even went to the bathroom. I watched the person who was supposed to be doing the service go to every table and everyone at the bar and still never came to our table to even ask for drink order let alone food order. We moved to self service side and went and ordered our own food and sat down. The woman working the self service side even went and got our chips and queso for us and explained that's why they give you a paper ticket so you can grab those on the way to your table while waiting for the rest of your food. I like Fuzzy's. It's a good place to go with friends, or if you just want some casual Mexican food at a groovy place. Fuzzy's is a great social restaurant. Now, this being said, a great social restaurant is not necessarily the most high quality or mind blowingly good food. It's okay. Not fantastic but I will definitely still come and chow down if invited. I do love the Fuzzy's building. Super cute decorations that just make you happy. They have a wide ranging menu and pretty hard to beat prices, as well as specials a lot of weeks if you pay attention. So many people I know who go to Fuzzy's also love their margaritas, which they have a lot of specials for as well. My favorite thing ever here are the enchiladas. I've tried other things there, like tacos, burritos, and even fajitas but nothing is as good as the enchiladas. And the best part is when they pour queso over top, I mean how can you go wrong with thick cheese poured over something? I also love the combination of the enchiladas with the cilantro lime rice and refried beans. That is the best meal to me. But everything else is, eh. Also, the service is very on and off. Some of the workers are pretty friendly and some are definitely just there to do their job. It can take a long time to get your food too, even when it's not busy. All in all Fuzzy's is decent, but not top tier. It's one of my moms favorite restaurants, so every time she's in town we go and I go happily and will keep going, but reality is that it's just not crazy good food, which I don't think is their sell anyways. read more

I used to stop here for tacos when I'm on that side of town because their tacos aren't bad and they have lots of choices. Where they fail is their so very slow service, I mean the cooking. The kitchen is open so you can see the cooks, usually at least two or three. However whatever you order takes so long you could grill steaks faster. Ive worked in several Mexican resturaunts and could put out several meals in the time it takes them to make a few a tacos. Unless you order to go you better plan on waiting an unreasonable long time. There are a lot of Tex-Mex chains around nowadays, but I really like this one. The name is silly and the place is decorated in similar colors to other places with murals, etc. But there are a few different things. For one, they do an all day breakfast with tacos and burritos (which I haven't tried yet, but plan to). They sell beer and margaritas. Secondly, their food is great. I haven't tasted anything yet that wasn't delicious. First time around, I had the burrito bowl. Silly me, I thought it would be something small. Nope it's the insides of a very large burrito artfully arranged in a large stainless steel bowl (without the tortilla). It was delicious. Second time, I had the Enchilada combo plate. I tried both the sauces, red & green. Couldn't decide which one I liked more. The red was smoky and had a mole' type flavor to it. The green was tangy and creamy, like a salsa verde with sour cream. Their refried beans are both creamy and chunky, and the cilantro-lime rice was flavored just right. The enchiladas were generously filled with meat. I've tried bites of their Latin potatoes and the Borracha beans, both very flavorful. The employees were very pleasant and helpful and the restaurant was clean. The manager was there and greeted us, asking how our experience was. The second time we were there, everyone was masked appropriately. The only complaint is that it is very awkward to get to when driving south on South Florida Avenue. You have to drive past it, then make a U-turn into the lot. I used to LOVE this place! So we came in and ordered at 11:44 am our food was not ready until 11:56 am no lines or customers' tables were empty, so what's the deal? Half of our $37.38 meal sat under the "hot" lights for almost 5.5 minutes. I got up to see what was going on, and I saw other patrons who ordered after I had received their food. I asked, and the response was, "oh, it depends on what they ordered." Okay, I get that, but four cooks back there, and no one could help the other cook kick out food faster??... I enjoy the cilantro lime rice, but today, the grains felt like they were made at 5 am 1/3; of my grains were hard, like they sat out too long. On top of that, the plastic cutlery is the worst I have ever used! Dollar General holds up 10x better. Both forks held a food item so that we could cut it with a knife. So the pressure used to hold the fork is what 10-15% SNAP rice EVERYWHERE on my kid, and myself as other customers look at me with food on myself. I started coming to Fuzzy's a few years ago when I was in south Lakeland for work. Unfortunately, I am rarely in the area now, but when I am Fuzzy's is one of my go-to's. Fuzzy's is a fast casual Mexican restaurant located between Twisted Sugar HTeaO. Fuzzy's has traditional Mexican fare including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and enchiladas. You can then choose your meat and make any special requests. As a bonus, they have margaritas, which not every fast casual place will have. You place your order at the counter and they had you a pager. When the pager goes off, you go to the window and pick up your food. They also have a bar area, where they offer full service dining. If you would like to dine al fresco, they have that option as well. My favorite thing to get is the brisket. It is tender, juicy, and flavorful. It works great on tacos, enchiladas, and even a quesadilla. My other favorite thing is the in house hot sauce called Butt Burnin sauce. It is really delicious and goes great on everything. I really love the spot. It's one of several but the one is Lakeland is special. I came the first week and have continued. Their food is good and the inside is clean! There are two ways to order: at the register and sit with the buzzer and go pick it up and sit back down - self serve; or full service at the high tops and bar. They offer five different kinds of seating: tables, booths, bar, hi-top, and outdoor patio. They have great drinks. And they are very thoughtful. It's the tiny extras they do. Tonight when I ordered an unsweet iced tea, the cashier told me "it's around the corner in the green container. (The blue one is sweet.). Very customer-centric. My wife loves the tacos here as well as the chips and queso. I rate them both ok. But where it really goes downhill is on the wet chimichanga. If you've ever had a chimichanga "wet" as Tijuana Flats, think about 100x more queso in top. You can barely even taste the rest of your food. So I guess if you love drinking queso then it might be a decent meal. Also the cilantro-lime rice is just ok. While the potatoes are just over cooked French fry chunks. Brisket enchilada combo smothered in queso with 2 sides of rice (Cilantro-lime and Mix-mex) and grilled Mahi Taco - flavor wasn't bad but all the rice was undercooked, both cilantro-lime and mix-mex, which makes me believe that's how the establishment operates and thinks it's good which is unforgivable. Food wasn't very hot, but that's something I could overlook if food was actually pretty good. I'm the type of person to force myself to finish leftovers I don't care for as to not waste food, but I didn't hesitate to throw out what I couldn't finish in this instance. While their customer service skills are good. The atmosphere of this place says College and the food matches. I had chicken tacos; the meat taste like it came out of a bag from a warmer. They also add way too many vegetables to even consider it to be a taco. My wife had brisket tacos and the meat wasn't even warm. The queso is not thick at all! Very very runny and not enough cheese. Their entire menu is not spicy. Even the house sauces are not spicy nor taste any good in my opinion. Please avoid this food place. I recommend the BBQ place about 3 stores down. read more

Fuzzys is such a great addition to Lakeland! I love the atmosphere and the split seating. You can sit in the bar area for full service or order from the counter and have self service on the other side. The queso is the best I've ever had, it's the perfect consistency and they top it with more cheese and pico! It lies perfectly with the seasoned chips. I'd like to know what that seasoning is because I'd put that stuff on everything! I always go for the tacos! I love the California heat, fajita chicken and ground beef! They're all fully loaded and you won't leave still hungry! If I don't get tacos I go with the nachos or the quesadilla! I'm dying to go back and try a burrito next! I recently tried the bottle caps. I was pretty stoked when I'd heard yet another taco spot was coming to town because hey, I like tacos. I like all kinds of tacos from anywhere. But we just got around to trying Fuzzy's. I was mildly hesitant because a friend told me that her experience resulted in some major gastrointestinal disturbances, if you get what I'm saying. But, we tried it anyway. As much as I love tacos, for some reason I opted for the nachos. Hubs got the mahi tacos. Both were.... underwhelming. The chicken isn't seasoned very well and if it weren't covered with ninety pounds of various cheeses, it would've been seriously lacking in flavor. The fish tacos... were meh. They were just over cooked and a bit too fishy. He said the beans and rice were both fine, though. We spent $20 for both of our meals, with water to drink. By the way, the water here is like, Central Florida water; it's not tasty. The people are friendly and they're quick to clear dishes from the table. We came here on a Sunday after church for lunch. This was everyone's first experience so no one knew how it worked. There weren't many people in the restaurant so I anticipated a pretty smooth experience. It goes like this: You order at the counter, are given a buzzer, when the buzzer goes off, you go up near the food window to retrieve your food from people handing it out to you. While it sounds seemingly easy, it was a bit overcomplicated. Things were forgotten on the plates, the orders were put in wrong and then trying to communicate that to the person whose only job is to hand you the food is hard because they weren't the ones that took the order. They are just reading off of a receipt. It was overly complicated when it didn't need to be. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. I wouldn't pick this place myself to return to. read more
