I've been in multiple FYE stores at this point and there is a problem at every single one. I went to buy a gift card at this location and she looked at me like I had two heads and it took forever for her to figure out what to do. Consistently they mark things on sale and then they ring up on the register at a higher price... and they'll fight with you whether to honor the price on their own sign! I've also had them cancel a partially unused gift card so the balance was zero when it should still have had money on it. Shop elsewhere. I've been here many times and have never had a problem. I came here today to purchase some DVDs. There was one male employee in the store. He was busy, but he's still supposed to be watching the counter since he's alone. I stood at the counter for 5 minutes, I said excuse me, I said hello. Still ignored. I dropped $40 worth of DVDs (used) in a bin. It was pretty loud. And still this employee didn't turn around or bat an eye. Well, you lost a sale today and I will not be shopping in this store again as long as this employee is working. Just rude! read more

Surprised to say the least. First off I entirely understand some shady employee who wrongfully would sign people up for the $12 a month membership but besides that issue seemingly being rectified I now feel comfortable leaving my surprisingly positive review. On my 2nd trip to this FYE location I was looking for a deal on Neca figures and to my surprise they had the Michael Myers Ultimate Figure for $49.99 even cheaper than Amazon at $60 or as much as $70 at other places which was a surprise considering some products at FYE are either retail or well above retail price so these items being cheaper were a pleasant surprise and there was a buy one get one half off and that was really great because I got the Chucky figure for only $25 also cheaper than other places. On top of all this I signed up for the 30 day free trial to get 10% off additional in my order and the lady was great at explaining the perks if I wish to continue with the subscription, but we'll see if it's enough value for me. All in all doesn't hurt to browse and some things are priced quite decent just be aware and do your research as some things are marked up heavily. read more

I'm so happy this store has it's own page to leave a review on! This is one of the stores that makes Smith Haven Mall stand out to us as better than most. I've been going to Smith Haven mall for years and this has always been one of my family's go-to stores. The prices either match normal retail, or are BETTER. Anime, pop culture, NECA, FNAF, Music, rare DVD's - We are always able to find items here that are hard to get online. We've gotten a lot of rare and cool things from this store. They also have a great selection of candy as well that we like to buy when we have movie nights! read more

The workers are nice and there are a lot of cool things in this store. The main problem is that things are very expensive, especially their records. Look at Amazon and most of the records are cheaper there. Would recomend just for looking around. read more

Now at $12 a month my cost for a $9 cd is over $120 and try to stop your membership. You are best to tell the credit card to stop accepting billing. While there are great novelty items here, there aren't many price tags shown. When checking out, don't get looped into their aggressive marketing of their "free" fye membership. IT IS NOT FREE and customers should FULLY BE AWARE. I had no idea about the automatic charge of $11.99 monthly fee on the credit or debit card used during my transaction after a "30 day trail membership". My salesperson was named Melanie (023228) and she never mentioned anything about a monthly charge. There are not enough FYE stores in long island to even have the audacity to charge a high monthly charge. I was annoyed when she handed me my receipt and i saw the "details". read more

Back in the day, Game Stop would swap and sell used DVDs. So when my kids were gamers, they'd drag me to Game Stop in the mall and beg for the latest $60 game. I'd look thru the used DVDs and snag "Casino Royale" on DVD Score! Those days are over. They don't play games as much and if they do? I ain't buying them. Don't bother me with that nonsense. I put my dues in. I did find this store in the mall, Fye???? They sell used Blu-ray disks! Yay! They also sell concert tickets, DVD's, New Blu-Ray movies, Music posters, etc.. I'm looking thru the disks and I find the cutest movie on Blu-Ray, Up The guy? Falls in love. His wife dies. He gets all crabby and ties balloons to his house and bolts. Hell Yes. I don't know her name, I don't know her issue, but I hope she reads this . An older women works there (maybe her 40's) and she signed me up for that stupid membership without even asking me. Got all my information and failed to mention there was a monthly subscription. All she said was "would you like 10% off today" , then I get an email later about a free trial and how I'll be charged next month. The same exact thing happened to my friend a week prior so I immediately realized what happened and I canceled the membership immediately. She knows no one wants to sign up for this, and she needs to stop scamming people by signing them up for something they NEVER agreed to . The store isn't bad, but I'm giving it one star for horrible customer service and I'm not the only one who has complained about this. You want better reviews? Maybe deal with her. They're nice and helpful but they force you to sign up for the FYE Backstage Pass. I was getting charged month after month without realizing it. They don't tell you it's a subscription service and they tell you it's "free" when it's not at all. I don't go in there anymore because I'm scared they're gonna trick me into signing up again. Some FYE locations are closing down (I miss you, Roosevelt Field FYE!), this is now the only location on the Island. This is the most organized FYE I've been to. Their CD, Blu-ray, Dvd, Funko POP selection is the largest I've seen from a FYE. The employees are friendly and will go out of their way to help you find an item; on our trip one of the workers helped my better half search for a Funko Pop figure he was looking for until they found it buried in the wall of Funko. It's a long drive to come to this location so I don't foresee making it a habit in returning multiple times a year. Their prices are decent and they always have sales; if you're an FYE member you'll get an addition discount. read more

Once a large chain of music and media, FYE is down to one store on Long Island. Luckily, it's a good one. I've always been able to find something. While they always lean toward the MSRP on media, they have a lot of sale and discounts that bring it down to on-line prices without having to wait forever for your stuff to arrive. It's also one of the few brick and mortar stores to sell a wide variety of CDs in multiple genres. They also have a large used section. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. The store was rearranged recently to emphasize toys and tie-in produced more than music and video, a sign of the changing times. I have no idea how much longer they're going to be around, so don't procrastinate. Get over there. read more

Great selection. Bad customer service. Actually HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered 2 movies from them & on my receipt it said my total was $25 for both movies. When I came back to pick up my orders the woman told me the $25 was for one of the movies & the other movie did not have a price next to it. So good customer service would be to give me the two movies for the price ON THE RECEIPT for the two movies that I ordered. But instead she told me "Well I can't give you the second movie for free, the least I can give it to you for is $20." I looked at her dumb-founded and explained good customer service to her & said "We'll I guess I have no choice but to pay the extra 20." She said I did have a choice and that was to not take the movie. But obviously I wanted the two movies if I even took the time to order it & come back to pick it up. I ended up paying $20 more than what was stated on the receipt & left extremely unhappy. Secondly, since I work in the mall FYE is convenient for me to get movies quickly on my lunch break. And despite the last incident I still go to them for movies even though I HATE their customer service. So I call them up today & ask them to put The Conjuring on hold for me since it comes out tomorrow & I have work tomorrow. The same woman told me I need to come down there today & put it on hold & then come back tomorrow (when I have work) to pick it up. Didn't understand why she couldn't take my name & info over the phone & reserve my copy like Best Buy has done, & any other store in the mall has done for me. It's not like I was asking them to hold it for a week. It's less than 24 hours & the movie isn't even released until tomorrow!!!!! Their customer service is horrible. I think it's time to forget how convenient they are in terms of location & order my own movies online or go to Best Buy or something. Went here got something small. A month later I found out they basically took my card information even though I told the worker I specifically didn't want to be a member. Apparently this store is a corporation with bad business practices that put secret charges that you might not see for a month. Ok...FYE is alright. They have many good things and this specific store is decent too. But that "discount/membership card" is the dumbest idea on the planet. You shouldn't charge guests anything for a memebership to your business. Horrendous, high-pressure, and combative experience. Unprofessional, harassing 'hard sell' at the cash register for their paid VIP club or whatever. My brother was there with me and said, "Don't sign up for that. They make it really hard to cancel." One of the other workers leaned over and said "It's actually YOUR decision." Hey, Person who is Spending Her Thirties Working for a Dying Aughties Retail Chain - it's also my decision to actively warn everyone I know not to do any sort of shopping, holiday or otherwise, in your store until the day it is mercifully shuttered. I actually had to ask to be rung-up. The employee at the register would not ring me up until I participated in her sales battle. I'm a salesperson turned marketing professional, having worked with a number of companies that don't cause every single customer to say, "Oh wow, this place still exists," upon entry. Coming from that background, I couldn't help but wonder - do you really think you're creating customer retention (big word, ask a friend with a college degree for help with that one) by hard-selling every shopper that manages to make their way to your register? This isn't, "Would you like to sign up for our loyalty program?" This isn't even, "Are you sure? You'll get 10% off your order." This was some aggressive, borderline bullying the likes of which I never imagined happening as part of a shopping experience. The BEST fye on Long Island, flat out. Since 2 major fye's closed recently, there are only I think 2 or 3 left. Out of all of them though, I enjoy coming to this one the most. Their blu-ray and DVD selection is the biggest, and due to the "element" of the area, I was able to find more rarer and out-of-print movies here than anywhere else. The aisles are very neat and tidy, things are organized beautifully, and the movie racks are all new so the movies display well. I've been to other fye's that are too dank, dusty or messy looking, and this one in terms of cleanliness and neatness is easily the best, not to also mention the biggest. The staff is very nice, and fair. One girl I was once checking out with was SO sweet and helpful when I was trying to use a coupon that i had to get a picture from my old school keyboard phone, and typically at all fye's they're somewhat lenient on their policies and always fair. Fye overall has a tendency to watch themselves when it comes to what can get discounted and what cannot, but when they have good used bulk deals, you're likely to save A LOT compared to internet prices. Sure, many of their MSRP prices can border on extortion, but just wait for sales or go for used instead. About 99% of the used items I've gotten here were in MINT condition, so it was virtually the same as buying them new. Being a more conservative area and community, people here are just more responsible with their things than in other parts of Long Island closer to the city. I dig Suffolk County a lot for that. Also, the toy selection is very good and you could seriously spend a good hour or more in here, and have a lot of fun just browsing. I've found some of the best deals of flicks at this location, and sadly I live in Nassau County so it's always a big drive for me, but I am thankful when I do it. I really really hope this location never closes down because that'll just be so sad for me. read more

Unfortunately by the time people see this- they have already been scammed. The girl at the register asked for my email and I said no thank you, she took out this 'vip card' and asked for my phone number and told me basically without giving an option that i sign up for a vip card. It gave me a purchase for the current item, but when everything was all said and done is when she told me about the future once a month charge after the first month. I was infuriated, and wished i could go back and not have signed up for it. I said no thank you when first asked for an email for a reason. As soon as i got home i called the number, the persons accent was thick and hard to understand but she said it would be 3 business days before i could cancel. That is where i am at now, seeing people talk about even being charged for magazines they didnt want is scary, because i vaguely remember her pointing out mags on a paper and i said again 'no thank you '. It's also insane that i didnt write out my card information but they can just randomly use it from my purchase? Im never going to fye again. read more
