Güero is a VERY popular place, based on how crowded it was on my weekday evening visit. Despite the crowd, we were able to get a seat right away. Staff is very friendly, professional, and helpful. Ambiance is very casual, and the menu is small and specialized. Chips were remarkably good, as were all of the sauces. The torta I ordered was quite good, and very large in size. Delicious and fresh tortas! I ordered delivery for tortas for my office and everything was on time and the tortas were intact and not soggy. I got the masa y papa torta. I loved the creative vegetarian option and it was piled high with veggies and flavorful sauces that brought everything together. The bread itself was on the thinner side, which I appreciated since it allowed everything inside to be focus of the sandwich. Stopped by for a quick dinner. Found street parking relatively easily and arrived at 5:30 PM, which was perfect. By the time we left around 6 PM, the dinner rush had started and a line was forming at the door. The interior is well decorated, modern, and clean. The server was friendly and service was fast. We ordered the bowl, one with carnitas and other with avocado. Both were very tasty! You can tell that the ingredients were fresh, the carnitas were tender and well seasoned. They also had a mango hot sauce brought to the table in a bottle that is amazing. I drenched my bowl with the sauce for the extra kick and flavor. The bowls are very filling. We ended up boxing up half of our food to bring home and finish for a late dinner. Would definitely come again and try their hot sandwiches. Will have to look into whether they sell their mango hot sauce separately as well. I'd buy a bottle! read more

Wow. Wow. Wow. That is all I have to say. Güero was absolutely delectable and took our breaths away. It is a place that specializes in tortas, but they are done so well. This place was our absolute favorite from our time in Portland. We got their Pollo Pibil. This was a huge torta and we split this. It was so savory and delicious. The shredded chicken was so tender and flavorful. I'm craving it just writing about it now. We also got the Ahogada and the Tostada De Camote. Both were also really good and big portions! Every time I am in Portland I make it a point to stop at Guero because it has become one of my favorite go-to spots in the city. Their tortas are exceptional and I have tried them all. Not one of them has disappointed but if I had to choose a favorite it would be the Ahogada which is perfectly balanced juicy rich and deeply flavorful every single time. Guero also has fantastic drinks and their destilados offering is truly outstanding. Whether you are exploring mezcal tequila or other agave spirits the selection here is thoughtful and exciting. I have had some meals at the bar where the bartenders were genuinely engaged knowledgeable and happy to walk you through their agave list which only enhances the whole experience. I will be honest and say that the service can sometimes lean into the typical Portland vibe of aloof and uninterested but there have also been moments especially at the bar where the staff really shines and makes you feel welcome and taken care of. Even with that quirk the overall experience is fantastic and it does nothing to take away from how much I enjoy eating here. If you are in Portland and love great tortas bold flavors and exciting drinks Guero is absolutely worth a stop. I will continue to come back every time I am in town and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal. read more

Such a nice spot in a cute neighborhood! The bar area and decor are very welcoming, and so are the staff. I had my giant suitcase with me, and my server asked if I'd like the suitcase safely stored in the back until I finished my meal..super helpful! My torta was flavorful and loaded with chicken, and the mango salsa gave it the perfect added acidity. I was definitely eyeing the hamburger that the person next to me was eating, though. It looked juicy and flavorful. I told my server that I was headed to the airport, so she gave me paper and a box to securely wrap my leftovers (the sandwich was pretty big!). The place to go for tortas and cocktails! My second visit, and it did not disappoint!

Omg literally one of the best tortas I've had. The bollio was perfectly crispy and the meat was so juicy. We came in 20 ish minutes before closing and they still let us in. The chips and dips were so good but the beans and guacamole take the cake. The salsa on the table was amazing I wish I could take it home. I can't stop thinking about these Torta's! This was the best tasting food we had in Portland. The staff were so pleasant and delightful. The space was perfectly curated and beautiful! But lets get to the food, we orderd the trio of dips with chips (super fresh and flavorful). When it came to the Torta, I was amazed by how flavorful the vegetarian version was, the best Torta i've ever had in my life. From the tamarind tomatoes, to the perfectly crisp potato, the Torta left us very full and wanting to extend our trip. We were the first customers, but about 10 min in, the place was packed. There were tons of veggies and not too much rice. However, the "tortas" were a bit disappointing. It's been a minute since I went here. We came here for a quick brunch as we were in the area. The place was pretty busy with both the indoor and outdoor seats being filled up. We just kept it simple and ordered a couple of items - desayuno torta and a bowl (added carnitas and avocado). The torta was great as it they had the crispy fried cheese inside it. This place had been on my list of places to try for the longest time, but I just recently gotten the chance to try it! I thought the place itself looked really cute and the service workers were very attentive. I had gotten myself a few things to try out. For a drink I had gotten the emotional support drink. I thought that it was fruity and strong tasting. As for food I had gotten myself the carnitas torta and the esquites. I thought the carnitas torta was very tasty, it was juicy and the bread was nicely toasted leaving a nice crisp texture to the mouth. For the esquite, it had tasted more mayo like initially but it has a spice to it that slowly crept up on me. Adding on the bathrooms here are nice and clean! A really cute space with plenty of indoor seating. Convenient pick up door so you don't have to wade through those waiting for a spot. The chips were hearty and perfectly salty accompaniment to the incredibly flavorful guac. The bowl is a hearty portion of food! I asked for no pinto beans but they made an appearance anyways and I was actually glad they were there. I had assumed it would be a lot of rice but there wasn't as much as expected so it helped beef it up. I got the pollo and wished I had asked what the spice level was after my lips got that "girrl you're not prepared" tingle and had my husband enjoy the rest after I had to tap out. The horchata might be the best one I've ever had. I've literally had a horchata at every Mexican place I've ever been too also. That's a heck of a statement honestly. The hamburger was one of the best I've ever had too. That's an ever bigger statement. I have to say we went to guero with moderate expectations. There is so much competition in this space it's hard to differentiate. Guero does something many Mexican theme restaurants struggle with - being a standout. We ordered a couple of bowls. The first was our take on a veggie bowl. Egg, roasted tomatoes and Avacado. It sits on a bed of cheese, rice, beans and arugula, which I know seems basic but the ingredients were super fresh, bountiful and just plain good! The other was a chicken bowl. We were on our way to another restaurant when we passed Guero, and decided to give it a try instead. The restaurant looks small and narrow from the outside, but it's actually fairly roomy with a lot of seating. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon around 2pm, and didn't have to wait to get seated, which was great. Our server was friendly. She greeted us and took our order immediately. We decided to try their smash burger torta, a carnitas bowl, and the house chips & salsa. I also tried the horchata with lime and really liked it, but my fiance said he's not a fan of it because it didn't tasted like the original ones. Happy to report everything tasted great! My fiancé really enjoyed the burger/torta as it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. It looked quite neat but became sloppy when you bite into it (which is a good thing). I really enjoyed my carnitas bowl as well as it came with various vegetables and the carnitas were so delicious. I also really enjoyed the horchata as it was plant based, and flavored with lime. To me it tasted refreshing, but my fiancé said he preferred regular horchata instead which worked in my favor! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would come back for more! read more

Nice menu, I liked how it wasn't too big since I'm very indecisive. Lots of good options. I think they are known for their tortas so that's what I got. Mine had carnitas on it and it was good. Nothing too special but a solid and satisfying lunch. They had this orange salsa on all the tables that was amazinggg. It had carrots and Jalapeños in it which actually went so well together. Very unique. Tasted great on the torta. I also noticed they were selling it in the front so assume it's house made. This spot has been featured on diners drive ins and dives which I realized when I saw a sign on the wall for it. Thought that was really cool.
