Sal is very unprofessional. He uses swearwords every so often, both in english and espanol like I don't understand. although, being a guy, I can let that slide, maybe he's just trying to kid or be funny. the main reason, however, in giving 1 rating instead of 5 like the others is the rip-off price. 25 dollars for hemming one single jeans!!!! there was even a time when I specifically told him not to do original hemming and he did it anyway and charged more cause "the job has been done". I have given him more than a couple of businesses, such as my suit, dress pants, and jeans and never did he call for pickup when item is ready. you'll have to remember it yourself to call and find out. sometimes hemming will even take him more than a week to do, which is ridiculous!! sometimes even, he'll give you an exact day to pickup and you drove all the way there only to find that it hasn't been done! and, of course, no courtesy call to let you know of the delay. that's how unprofessional G& G is. save yourself a lot of money and energy, switch to someone else. I myself found another alteration that only charges $4 for jeans hemming, $10 for original hemming. and she's very professional, same day service if you drop it off in the morning. read more

What good is a suit if it doesn't fit you properly. $70 per suit (pant length and waist alteration + taking in the sides of the jacket). Owner is awesome (offered me a shot of tequila - my man) but besides the tequila, the suits turned out great. I ended up taking him couple Ermenegildo Zegna suits and couple inexpensive Calvin Klein suits. I was a bit worried about the Zegna suit since it had a finer fabric but all suits came out beautifully and on time. Can't go wrong with this place. read more

This father and son duo know what's up! I've been here on several occasion, I don't have a normal body type, I have a bigger upper body, wide back, slim waist so almost ALL my button down Oxford need to be brought in at the waist and need to get darts in the back. Same applies for pants, my thighs are thicker then my waist so I often need to get the waist brought in and either hemmed or cuffed. Everything always comes out fitting me just like a glove. Cesar has broken English and tells some seriously funny jokes, he keeps me entertained as he does the alterations, I think the accent makes the jokes funnier. He'll also let you know if a certain cut will or will not work. I had a pair of pants that weren't' working for me cut wise but I loved the style. He said he can fix them the way I wanted but it would cost a pretty penny and said I would be better off taking them back to the store... That's class right there, instead of taking me for $40 or more, he suggests I save my money. I'm proud to say that I gave Cesar an assignment he's never had before and that was slimming down some bow ties I had. They came out great! I even tried to show him how to tie a bow tie but he said "ahh fuck that I'll just sew the bow together"... read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Before leaving on a trip to New York, I decided to get my trousers fixed and knowing this, they agreed to have it fixed in 5 days. A reasonable amount of time to fix a pair of trousers with its seam ripped, in my opinion. They still had not started on my trousers the day I was supposed to pick them up. In fact, my 700 dollar jumpsuit was crumpled under a stack of dirty clothes with marks all over. They basically scoffed and told me it was normally a 3 week job and said I could just take it if I wanted. Now I'm left with a piece of my wardrobe that was supposed to be mended and is rather in worse off a state than before. No apologies, no sense of responsibility for my time. read more

I recently took two items here to be fixed on a Wednesday and picked up Friday afternoon the same week. The first were a pair of pants (beach/lounge type of pants) in to be hemmed. The material was polyester. The leg opening was on the bigger side. Taking those things into consideration the business charged me $15. The second was a shift dress that needed to be taken in on both sides for a better fit... The dress had a lining on the inside. The tailor took in the sides but what he failed to do was make sure the two lines for each boob were paid attention to too. The end result was a great fit but in detail those two lines were uneven. I didn't notice it until after I had put the dress on getting ready to go the wedding the next day. I didn't think that detail/hem would be overlooked by the tailor. I assumed they would make sure all hems would be even and look right. He charged me $45 for this job. It would have been nice to know the base price for both jobs. I knew the dress fix was going to be a little pricey but $45 and $15 for a hem!?!?!... That was a bit much. I should have asked for prices - the moment I walked in. The guy was super friendly but the price and lack of attention to detail sealed the two stars for the business. read more

Husband and I are SO glad we have found Sal and G&G Tailors. It's not super close to us but their customer service and their skill keep us coming back. Sal knows exactly how things should be. He's knowledgeable about styles and cuts and can advise you on how you need things to get tailored. He's tailored many of our jeans and my husband's suits/formal wear for the last year or two. Our most recent work... Husband is a groomsmen and received a "custom" suit by a fashion house with a storefront in Beverly Hills. They included alterations with the suit and they absolutely messed up the pants. It was ridiculously butchered. We should have followed our instinct and gone to Sal from the beginning. With only a week left before we had to leave for the wedding, we took it in to Sal to do damage control. At some points, the original tailor messed up the pants so bad they weren't fixable but Sal made it look 3000x times better. He saved the look for sure. I'm super picky with the look of our clothes and Sal is always patient with us and listens to our (my) every nitpick. This was a Yelp find WIN. read more

I don't write reviews at all. But the experience was so good I felt compelled to voice it. I honestly don't think my trip could have been better. Cesar was very patient and more than willing to have me try on all my shirts and go through different options of tapering and hemming my clothes. 6 shirts and 2 pants in total. Cesar even gave me recommendations of where to shop for shirts and suits that would be perfect for my body type. And which department stores to stay away from. He promised my clothes would be ready 4 days earlier than I initially requested. Upon my retrieval of the clothes, Cesar was in the back and Sal was helping me out up front. Sal was very indulgent. He asked me more than once if I was satisfied and if I wanted anything to be changed. I had all their attention while they were working with me. Both gentlemen were very, very nice and patient. My clothes came out great. Kind of reminded me of those scenes in those mobster movies where the head honcho is standing there by the mirrors, cigar in one hand, phone in the other, and a tailor diligently going to town on measurements. read more

As a person who doesn't manage their time THAT well and tends to do things last minute. This place is a GOD SEND. I had to be in Vegas in two days and needed my suit jacket tailored immediately. Luckily, with the help of G & G Tailors, they made it happen and honestly I look freaking amazing in it. I was helped by the younger son the first day. He measured me out and was super knowledgeable about suits and sleeve lengths, giving me a very detailed explanation about the proper sleeve lengths on a man's suit. His way of measuring seems to be really in depth and focuses on the minor details. In fact, I moved my head while he was measuring me (a definite no-no), and he instantly berated me cause he could actually tell I moved my head even though he was completely focused on my sleeves. I will definitely be going back to them so they can adjust my Army uniform. This place is probably the only place I would trust with it and I recommend that you do too. I recently purchased a blazer from banana republic, with size 0 it was too big, but 00 is slightly too tight at the waist. but I ended up buying a size 0 thinking maybe it can be sized down. I decided to give G&G tailor a try after reading all the glowing review! Sal was there to help me today, and this place is everything like the review - very honest, very reasonable price, great customer service. I went to the store, and Sal literally gave me a 10 - 15 minute consulting time. let me know what would work, what wouldn't, how it would look on me if tailored a certain way, how much it would cost, or alternative ways to save on cost, etc. At the end he suggested me to go back to the store and exchange to 00. That way instead of tailoring both arms/sleeves ($50) and the side/waist ($40) in, he might be able to work with the extra fabric (if there is any) and make the blazer a bit looser ($40), which would cost less. so I run to Brea mall real quick, brought back on to show him. After trying on 00, he actually end up telling me he might be able to just move the button a little bit, and I won't even need to resize the blazer! He offered to fix the blazer right on the spot, to save me another drive. In 10 minute - DONE! He didn't even charge me for working on the button. In addition, he pointed out to me how one side of my shoulder is slightly unbalanced from the other, and taught me how to fix it in the future if i buy blazer. I am so glad I found G&G Tailor on yelp, I wouldn't go to any other place from now on. It's rare to find places that are honest and not just about making money these days. I've been very pleased with Sal and G&G's work for all of the garments that I've brought in. My first experience with them came by way of my wife. She found them on yelp and need her wedding dress fitted. G&G's quote was well below what another place was going to charge and she couldn't have been happier with the fitment. So, when I bought a few new suits and need them tailored she immediately recommended G&G and they delivered. I brought them 4 suits, jackets and trousers. Sal measured everything up and told me to come back in a week. I picked everything up a week later without a hitch. Recently I brought them a few jeans to modify. I wanted to shorten the length, taper the legs, and take in the waist since I've lost some weight since purchasing the jeans. Sal gave me the price breakdown and told me that he could do the work, but that I could also potentially buy a new pair of jeans for the money. I appreciated that he was so straightforward and that he wanted to make sure I got what I wanted, even if it meant I wouldn't be giving him the business. Called Sal earlier this week and told him I will be flying in Friday night and need to get my suit tailored by Saturday for a wedding on Saturday. He told me he'll be able to tailor my suit day of on Saturday. I took my suit in at 8AM Saturday morning and they finished by 2PM! There was a mix up between pants, but Sal went out of the way and personally drove down to Costa Mesa to drop off my pants and also compensated me for my time. Talk about customer service! I have been back several times now and everything has been tailored to perfection. I have had suit slacks taken in for a slimmer fit, had flared jeans made into straight leg, and my husband had a boxy jacket taken in to fit better. Everything has been perfect and done at a reasonable price. I especially like how honest they are. The last time I went in, I actually intended to have three pairs of slacks altered. But after trying them on and discussing what I wanted done, the guy who was helping me explained that the two of items wouldn't come out the way I wanted (one because of the material and one because it was a size too large and couldn't be altered down the way I wanted). Update on 6/8/13: Received all my clothes and of course, they were all perfect. More things I love about this place: Sal is patient with me as I try on EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE OF CLOTHING ON again (which can be exasperating if you drop off 6 things off at a time) and make sure everything looks right; he sews the labels back on after he alters the clothing; and he gave me tips as to which alterations are easier/cheaper so when I shop, I know what to look for. Still a very happy customer. Update on 5/25/13: Dropped off some "higher end" brand clothing (think Lanvin, Proenza Schouler) with different textures (stretchy/elastic, wool, etc). Will update with what I'm sure will be amazing results when I pick them up. Update on 5/16/13: 5 Million stars!!! I picked up my leather jacket and pants today. Both were done perfectly! Before I get into the work done on my clothes, I want to talk about G&G Tailors' work on men's clothing. Men's Alterations Review: My fiance brought in a few dress shirts that needed to be taken in and a pair of suit pants that had to be taken out and he needed all this turned around in 2 days. Sal delivered. The pants looked great and the shirts looked great. Everything fit my fiance perfectly. In fact, my fiance said he's going to bring all his clothes to Sal to get everything altered. He received the same quality of customer service I did and Sal provided the same level of detail for him as he did for me. I can't recall the prices but my fiance thought they were reasonable. So, back to me. Communication: 5 stars. Sal called me (I was out of the country) and left me a message to let me know my items were ready for pick up. Quality/Service/Craftsmanship: 5 stars. I am impressed with the level of detail and the craftsmanship. They managed to keep the exact same shape/stitching on my jacket. There is one seam that is slightly not centered (inside right arm) but it's not highly visible and I doubt anyone but me would have noticed it. They even made certain to alter the lining. The fit is PERFECT. Sal took some pictures so he may upload them, if not, I'll have to wait for my fiance to come up to take pictures of me in my leather jacket and I'll upload them. I did take pictures of the stitching and uploaded those. The pants fit fabulously too. I'm always concerned with taking clothes in because depending on the tailor the seam line is always wrinkled/bumpy but no concerns like that here. There were no loose threads or unfinished stitching (issues I've had at other places). Everything was pressed/smoothed/looking better than when I brought it in. Customer Service: 5 stars. He remembered that I was on vacation and asked how my trip was. I am very impressed and will be taking more of my clothes here. read more

Great service! Came into G&G after a really bad experience at another alterations place in which they did more harm than good. Needed to have the damage done to my zipper fixed and put back to it's normal state. I dropped off my jeans on a Thursday and was able to pick them up a week later on Wednesday. The work was incredible! Not only were the employees personable (met with one of the owners), but he explained what process he would use and told me his price up front! Since they had to replace the entire zipper in my jeans, it cost me $20. This could seem pricey, but after my previous experiences this was glorious! I dropped off my suit pants to get altered and were told they were to be ready in a few days. Later that day I got an offer to come in for a job interview the day before my pants were to be finished. The guy (I'm assuming he's the owner) was very knowledgeable and helpful. I brought a suit here to get my jacket altered before a wedding. Of course, being the lagger I am, I waited until the week of the wedding to get this done. I called in on Tuesday and told him I'd need the suit by Saturday. He said it wouldn't be a problem and even offered to have it done by Friday afternoon! When I walked in, he asked me what I wanted to do with the suit. He made a couple suggestions and quick measurements. 10 minutes later, I was out of there. On Friday, I went to pick up my suit and everything looked great. He plastic wrapped it for me and everything. The price were very reasonable too and the suit fits wonderfully. I would highly recommend my friends to get their alterations done here. Found this place on Yelp. I was need of same day alterations and took a chance on this place. I called first and spoke to Sal. I explained what I needed and he said it's possible they can do same day alterations, but would need to see my dress. I took my dress in around 10am and it was ready at 4pm. The alterations were perfect. The dress fit great. Sal took his time marking and pinning my dress, making sure the alterations will be just right. I found my new alteration spot. A great local find. I was looking to get one of my football jerseys altered before the big game (fly Eagles fly). The jersey was a size too big and though I didn't want the entire jersey fitted, I did want it to look like I wasn't swimming in it. I just got a leather jacket altered by a guy named Sal/Cesar did an amazing job with it, but it did cost 200, as high as that sounds its hard to find anyone to alter leather, I called at least 5 other stores in orange. They also called me several times to make sure I get the jacket as soon as they can. A stitching is a little out of place so I called about a year later and he said he would fix it for free. The jacket even has a better taper to be better fitted, almost like a suit, but leather. It's a diesel jacket but he seemed to make it fit better than a designer. read more
