This review is long overdue. I have been going to Lynette for 3-4 years and honestly I love this place. If you have curly hair, you know the importance of finding a good hair dresser/stylist. Not everyone understands curly hair and how to cut it. Lynette uses deva curl method (cut the hair dry and then rinse and dry). It's easy to book appointments on the website, I usually book a couple of months out. In the last 3-4 years, I have never had any complaints. The style is great, she understands every client needs. It's always great chatting with her. Her studio is located at the back of the larger studio- it's much more private, always clean. Easy to find parking. In the last so many years, I never had to wait - she's always ready when I arrive. She accepts cash, so make sure you have enough for the service and tip. All in all, I love going here. read more

After one year of not having my haircut, Lynette spent only 5 minutes "trimming" my hair (a dry cut), 10 minutes washing and about 20 minutes putting me under the hair dryer. Dude, I've been going to Lynette for like, years. 2006ish I found Teresa Callen, and didn't have the most ideal experience, but I went back out of necessity. Eventually Teresa took on Lynette, who eventually began managing her own clients, and I switched and was way happier after that. I think I started with her in like 2008ish maybe? So 4 going on 5 years now? Lynette is practical, straightforward, kind, sweet, and down to earth. Easy to talk to, get along with, work on solutions for your hair together with, and no-drama. Her price point is reasonable, she can cut curly hair dry, she's a reliable colorist, and she's gentle with your head. I was actually never quite thrilled with the actual cuts/styles with Teresa/Lynette in the beginning, but they've been getting better. At the start I pretty much always felt like I had an 80's frizz-out cut. That's back in style now, but definitely not a look I'm deliberately going for. So over time as I worked with Lynette I began to trust her, and my last couple of cuts with her have been great. I have had some random issues that happen, like a bit of hair out of place that needs to get snipped at later, and of course with curly hair it can be tricky because you can't pull the curls out too long since that is not what they will naturally look like when the client goes home and does their normal wash/style/air or blow dry (with diffuser) routine. So sometimes the cuts can be shorter than they should be and once I get home I'm a little frustrated, so we're always learning a little more each cut and adjust to compensate. Coloring is also not like wild edgy fashion coloring, but Lynette is reliable, organized, and professional with how she colors. She uses the healthiest stuff she can to limit killing my hair, so we almost never lift with peroxide unless we absolutely have to, and we usually do semi-permanent color. Sometimes I do have to come back to correct a color issue but it's usually pretty minor; plus I know I have really ethnic curly hair that eats up product, and with curls it's hard to get the dimensions you want so there's a bit of trial and error. The cool thing is that Lynette adapts well, works with you, is always willing to correct something and offers great customer service, which is why I keep coming back. I go to her like 3-4 times a year for a color, and 50% of the time I include the cut to clean my head up / take off those sad dead ends. For super ethnic curly hair girls - a reliable, great person to work with! Note: Ok, so if you follow my reviews you'll know I never give 5's unless my mind is utterly blown which is like .0001 % of the time. But when I give a 4 star it means the experience was great and I recommend it, and I'll go back. read more

Lynette Corriea did a really great job with my half wavy/half curly hair. See my hair is nearly straight down to my ears and then its curly the rest of the way down. Lynette fixed this. I really don't know how, but I'm eternally grateful. Finally the top part of my hair doesn't look like its an entirely different style from the bottom of my hair. It's all cohesive now, which is really a miracle, considering what she was working with! I am trying to grow my hair out longer, so I was very nervous about getting it cut in the first place, but Lynette is a great listener. We spent a lot of time on the consultation, and she repeated back to me everything I said, so I could tell that she was really listening. I didn't feel rushed at all through the consultation and that was very important/reassuring to me. Not only that, the results confirm that she listened. I told her I still wanted to be able to put it back in a ponytail, and tuck it behind my ears, both of which I still can (yay), I told her I didn't want it to look so 80's and it doesn't anymore (double yay) and I told her I wanted to preserve as much length as possible. She said she would only trim and she actually held to it--my hair actually even looks a little bit longer now because of the way its styled AND its not in my face--again miraculous. (triple yay). Previous hair stylists always treat my hair like straight hair, cutting it wet, styling it the wrong way, and blow drying it into a frizzy mess. Not Lynette! My appointment was at 9:45 AM on Saturday for a cut and dye job. Lynette was friendly and down-to-Earth, and I immediately liked her. I told her my desired cut and color, showed her pictures, and explained to her the way my hair behaves. She knew exactly what I was talking about, I could tell she is an expert with curly hair. She cut my hair dry (which is how you're supposed to cut curly hair), then dyed it. She did an ombre, which looked awesome and was exactly what I asked for. She used DevaCurl products on my hair and made sure not to use anything that I was allergic to on me (I have millions of allergies haha). I am so happy with my haircut! I love it, I feel so confidence, and my curls look awesome. On top of that, the price was really good and we had excellent conversation for the duration of the process (~3 hours). I have been at war with my curly, frizzy hair for the last 10 years but have been afraid to have a stylist do anything to it but trim an inch of the bottom. After reading all the great reviews about Image Arts Salon on yelp, I decided to take the BIG PLUNGE! I had an appointment with Lynette today and we had an indepth consultation about what I was currently doing with my hair and what some of the issues were. My hair was just not as curly as it used to be and I was having a hard time maintaining the curl that I had. I used to dread washing my hair and having to beat it in to shape for an hour afterward. Lynette carefully listened to all my concerns and then we came up with a game plan for my hair. I have long hair and I wanted to preserve the length. I was very apprehensive about trimming since I love my long curly hair and wanted to make sure my stylist listened to what I wanted..Lynette did a great job and honored a coupon I had--I even felt bad paying the coupon rate because I loved the deva cut, but I had to since I am a recent law school grad on a very tight budget!! This was my first time with Lynette, and first time getting a deva cut, and I'm really happy with the results. I'm Indian with very curly hair (2C curl for those obsessive about knowing your curl type like me), and I wanted to cut a good 7 inches off of it to have shoulder length hair. Lynette is very careful and attentive about what you want. When she was done, she'd have me look at the cut from all angles and asked if I wanted anything changed. To start, I have crazy, thick, tight curly hair and decided to get the Brazilian blowout treatment, to relax the curls and ease management (bad idea). Unfortunately, this treatment changed my hair drastically (basically went from super curly to really straight). I had more trouble managing my 'new' hair do after the treatment. It even caused damage and breakage (yes, blotches of hair falling out). I freaked out and began a mission to find a stylist who could not only help restore my curls but also someone who knew more about curly hair (ahem--has curly hair!).
