I decided to give this place another chance with sewing my patches.. the price now for each patch is $8!! Went from $3.50 to $5 to now $8. I said ok thats fine. I'll drop off my jacket and get 2 patches on there.. when I came back to pick up my jacket.. one of the patches had a plastic cover and they sowed on the jacket with the plastic!! They said if i wanted the plastic removed it'll cost extra to remove the plastic and redo the patch.. even tho it was their mistake!! What a load of bs from this place. If you want tailoring done, go to Trans Tailor near by. They are way nicer and better with their pricing. I get my clothes tailored there instead of this god awful place. read more

He and his staff have adjusted dozens of polo shirts , my suit and made a dress shirt for me . His prices are fair and his work is excellent. My mother dropped off 1 black jumpsuit and 1 pair of red pants on a Friday around 4 pm and they were to be ready on Thursday at 6 pm. On Thursday my mom arrived around 5:30 pm and was told it will be a few minutes so she waited. At 6 pm she is given her clothes. When she gets in the car. The red pants looked like they were hand stitched with yellow thread and the legs were bunched up. The black jumpsuit also looked like a bad hand stitched job. She took both items in and a man said he would fix them and to come back the next day at 11:30. She returned on Friday at 11:30 and you guessed it they were not ready. She waited for while then asked if she could get a refund and just have the items and she would take somewhere else. The man instructed the lady at the front to give her a refund. He comes out with one item at a time as though someone was in the process of sewing as she waited on her refund. The pants were himmed this time and looked professional. However, fast forward to the next day, my mom wore the black jumpsuit and the hem came out of the pants as she was walking. Do yourself a favor and go to another seamstress if you want to your items sewn correctly and on time. read more

I have had a few dresses/gowns hemmed and altered here in the past and always had a great experience. Good quality work in a timely matter. I recently had my wedding dress altered and worked with Jansy on making it perfect. We did about 3-4 appointments to get it just right and I couldn't be happier with the quality and care of the work done on my dress. I have a long bridesmaid dress from Target that I needed to get hemmed up. I called a few places and got quotes and read reviews online. This seemed the most reputable and customer service friendly. I came in with my dress, tried it on with my shoes, and they measured me. My dress has two layers so they charge $22 per layer. My total came out to $47 which you pay upfront. Dress was ready the next week and it was perfectly done! My only wish was that it was a bit cheaper. They quoted me that the second layer may be cheaper but it's the same price as the first. I also hate paying for alterations especially bc the dress is around $90 to begin with, so I'm like uH need to spend half that amount just to make it the right length. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The customer service and workmanship is absolutely horrible. My mom and I dropped off 3 dresses for a wedding. First of all, they weren't finished with the alterations by the time they had initially stated. And when I came back, I had found that they had made multiple mistakes. One of the dresses had a cape that was about 3 feet long that needed to be trimmed about 12 inches. The other dress needed a short hem. They cut off more than half off the cape and the other dress was hemmed unevenly. They only offered to give me a refund for the dress with the cape and the cost of alteration for that specific dress. However, they demanded that they keep the dress. They also didn't refund me the uneven hemmed dress. I didn't have time to wait for them to fix it because this was already the third time I've been to the shop and I'm on a time crunch to get everything done prior to my flight. Not only that, they accused me of only wanting my money. They made multiple mistakes, yet still blame the customer. I can understand human error, but this is ridiculous. They caused me unnecessary stress and put me at an incredible amount of inconvenience for their mistakes. read more

Genero and his staff are outstanding! Our daughter brought in her wedding dress, which included intricate lace, and he did a wonderful job fitting her dress to her petite body. Being a small, petite girl, and her choosing a form fitting dress, there were definitely a lot of modifications needed, and they did an amazing job. I have been coming to GM Custom Clothier for years. They used to make my dance costumes from fabric I found and a rough sketch of what my vision was. Recently they have outdone themselves.. I brought in my mother's 30 year old wedding dress in hopes that they could re-design it into something I could wear for my wedding rehearsal. Genaro was amazing to work with! My wedding dress was bought off the rack and needed work in the bodice to make it fit my body like a glove. His work was nothing less than perfect. I loved that I could go in for as many fittings as were needed to make it perfect and his pricing was reasonable. He also customized my veil by finding lace to match my dress. We loved his work and service so much we also decided to have him make a custom suit for my husband - the suit is excellent quality and fit. TERRIBLE customer service and work in general. I dropped off bras to get tailored for a photoshoot and was given a pick up time the following week- when I went to pick them up they hadn't even started. Then, in order to get them done, instead of cutting and sewing them they just folded the straps over leaving an extra loop of fabric. It looked terrible and they still charged full price plus caused us business delays. They were rude and unprofessional and had no desire to fix their mistakes, take accountability, or right their wrongs. Will never go back! read more

Genaro truly is the best in town! I am picky about my alterations and am hesitant when it comes to who fixes my clothes but after seeing the amount of people entering/and leaving the shop on just my first few visits, I knew I had picked the right place. I've had just about everything done possible for men's clothing: hems (both dress pants and jeans), waistline, dress shirts, casual shirts, suiting, winter coats, etc. I have a very athletic build and thus, most off-the-rack suits don't fit but while I cannot afford to have a made-to-measure suit done by retail shops every season, Genaro has successfully altered any suit to my specifications. I once brought in a 40S suit with pants that have a 6" drop. Genaro managed to reduce the waist and taper the legs in as needed/specified. Genaro has made a couple of custom shirts for me as well. He has many fine fabrics that can be ordered from mills in Italy and let's say I've even received compliments from salesmen working in luxury dept and boutique stores in the Galleria on both quality of fabric and fit. We had to go through a couple of rounds on the very first shirt but Genaro willingly offered to redo some of my requests without even asking for an additional dime. This is an example of true customer satisfaction. Pricing is quite fair and considered a deal when compared to some tailors in the Galleria/Uptown areas. Credit cards are accepted. I can't vouch for women's clothing but I can say that I see as many women coming in as men, needing a dress fixed or even made. There have been occasions when a beautiful young lady would bring in a picture of a dress she liked for GM to reproduce. Go to GM and you won't be disappointed!! read more

It's wedding season and I had two nice suits I needed to get tailored. Just like many folks who make investments in their clothing, I was worried about finding a reputable and trustworthy business to take care of my needs. That concern was relieved by Genaro and his team. I was fortunate to stumble upon them by a simple search online for nearby alterations shops. His business is within minutes of my home in a rather quiet part of Sugar Land and boasted good reviews. The hours made it easy to swing by after work or even on the weekends. Upon arriving on a Sunday afternoon, his assistant/friend was quick to assist me and ascertain my issues with the suit's measurements. One suit fit almost perfect and required only jacket work. The other fit very loosely and would require a more in-depth job. There are two dressing rooms and one standard 3-mirror setup for you to review yourself and get pinned up. She could have charged extra, but assured me one of the pants fit me nearly perfect and shouldn't be adjusted. At one point when I wanted to ask Genaro about something, he even stopped what he was doing and came over to check me out. He instantly made me feel important to him and that he would take care of me. The price was a little more than I expected, but I couldn't complain because of the excellent customer service rendered. Also, I never had anything more than cuffs fixed on jeans which were always pretty cost efficient and minor jobs. Once the sizing session was over, I talked to her about delivery times since the weddings were coming up in one and two weeks, respectively. To most people, time and promise of delivery is CRUCIAL in utilizing tailor services. The assistant giggled at me and told me I could return in two days and my suits would be ready for me, even though I said she has up to X amount of days no problem. I took her word for it and wished her a good evening. Dropped off Sunday afternoon, and I roll in Tuesday after work. My suits are ready! I try the lightly adjusted one on first to build up my hopes. It fits perfectly. He cleaned up even miscellaneous things I pointed out. I continue to grab the massively altered one and put it on. You know how they say a suit can make you feel like a million bucks? Well, they should change it to a "correctly fit" suit can do this...and that's what I saw in the mirror. The lines were all where they needed to be...it felt like a custom suit that was made for me instead of an off-the-rack that needed a major touch up. I was impressed and very happy. Genaro came over and spoke with me more to make sure I was completely satisfied. Being the first time I had a suit tailored, I firmly expressed my gratitude for his skills, talents, and clean business practice. I will be returning for my future alterations needs. I called them ahead to ask about altering a long shirt i had that i needed on Friday. They said no problem if i drop it by Tuesday. When i dropped it off the lady made marks and said ok. I reiterated i needed by Friday mid day. I called Friday at 5pm to ask if it was ready and they told me it would be ready around 7:15p. THEY CLOSE AT 7pm! I got there at 7pm and i could see the lady sewing it on the machine. I honestly think they forgot about it because when i called to ask about it, it took 15min holding for them to know what i was talking about. The stitching was not straight and looked rushed. Plus he charged me $22 just to let out a shirt that had plenty of room in the inside to open up and let out 2 inches. If i had a machine i could of done it myself! read more

I took a bridesmaid dress here back in March and was so satisfied with the work, length of time it took to alter the dress, and customer service that I didn't hesitate to bring it back in August for another wedding I was in. This time, the dress was a floor length and I needed it altered in length. When I tried on the dress, it was way too short and crooked. The owner (I assume) was incredibly professional and said that it was no problem, he would fix it, and to come back in an hour. As it turns, the dress was still too short. We discussed my options (as there were apparently several different ways he could fix the problem) until I was satisfied with a course of action. He told me to give him another hour. We came back an hour later and the dress was perfect. He even steamed it for me to get the wrinkles out. Even though this time was a little more complicated than the last time, he did not once argue with me or cop an attitude like most people would. He maintained his professionalism and customer service and fixed the problem with no additional charge. As a matter of fact, when I left he thanked me over and over again for my patience and my business. Even though there was a problem, he never once made me feel like I was a being a nuisance and I felt completely comfortable expressing my concerns about the situation. DO NOT COME HERE THEY DO NOT FINISH YOUR CLOTHES IN TIME. If I could give this place a negative review I would. I was supposed to get my clothes on Monday, a night before a VERY important event. I told them I need them for sure on Monday and they agreed it would be ready Monday after 5pm. Monday comes around I get a call around 3pm saying we need more time.... I have them till Tuesday (the day of my event) and said it is a MUST that it's ready by 10:30am. I walk in at 10:30 and they JUST start working on my clothes. They tell me it's going to take 5 minutes.... it's been an hour and still my clothes are not ready. They wouldn't even compensate for being late.
