Very disappointed in the customer service at G2o. After being a client for almost 13 years, I was late to my first hair appointment because of ridiculous traffic getting into the city. I wasn't disappointed in the rules the salon has around being late -- but the terrible bedside manner in which I was spoken to. I was made to feel like I did something wrong and the operations manager didn't even offer to reschedule my appointment. I had a very upsetting experience during a recent massage appointment. The therapist spent several minutes giving unsolicited medical advice about a chronic injury I have, including telling me I "should know better" than to sit with my legs crossed, while she was speaking. Despite explaining that I have managed these injuries for years, the comments continued. When I became uncomfortable and clearly stated that I did not want to continue with a massage today, she blocked the door and grabbed my arms when I tried to leave. I was crying and repeatedly asking to exit before being allowed out. Physically preventing a client from leaving after they withdraw consent is unacceptable. We left immediately and received no acknowledgment from staff. I cannot recommend this establishment based on this experience. read more

I called G2O to inquire about services and the girl who answered the phone was not very helpful. She wasn't flat-out rude, but she made me feel like she just wanted to get off the phone and did not want to answer my questions. My friend called to book our services and had a similar experience. Two days before our scheduled spa day, my friend received an automatic text confirmation. We showed up on our spa day, to find a note on the door, stating the spa was CLOSED. There was a man outside the building and he told us they closed a few days before due to an issue in the building! When I called the spa number, I got a voice mail stating they were closed due to a fire in the building, but would be answering calls the next day, and would be open the day after that. I understand things happen and they can't control closing due to a fire. But how do they NOT call their clients to give them a heads up? We all took a day off work to come into the city, and we NEVER got a call, text or email letting us know the spa was closed. That is absolutely unacceptable to me. read more

My massage therapist seemed nice but talked to me through my entire massage. They spent the first 10-15 minutes just talking to me - and this counted toward my massage time. I was completely unable to relax as I was bombarded with questions and unsolicited advice. They talked so much that they never even got to massaging my arms or legs because they would stop the massage to talk. At one point I explained that I was uncomfortable and needed to adjust my posture a little bit due to issues from a prior medical procedure - the therapist insisted I shouldn't, stopped the massage to give me a lecture on posture, and after over 5 minutes of this (which also counted toward my massage time) I gave up and just endured the pain for the sake of actually getting my massage. For the price this spa charges it is unacceptable that their therapists do not know basic spa etiquette and how to create a relaxing environment for their clients. Also a heads up that the relaxation room is 8 beds packed in a tiny room. The little waterfall was nice but the room was uncomfortably packed. Oh - my massage therapist also came in this room to talk to me while I was trying to relax. They even joked about how much they talked. Unfortunately this was not a relaxing experience. read more

Use of robes, sandals, one time use bikinis, shower caps, etc is complimentary with service Snacks: EVERY single snack was with nuts and chocolate- ever heard of allergies?? Unfortunately, the G20 Spa and Salon is very inflexible and have internal issues, as well as communication and quality. There communication system to inform about appointments is inconsistent (they claim to make calls and texts, when they don't); they will cancel appointments last minute but are inflexible in rescheduling with clients (even with 48 hours in advance); and I've had to return for services rendered incompletely or not well on multiple occasions. They have few appointments available and you often have to directly get in touch with your provider to schedule anything. The staff that manages the front desk is not with good communication with the stylists or aestheticians or clients, who often have to work around them, as they are untrained, uninformed, and simply rude. They have issues retaining strong staff because of issues with pay and labor. They were planning to close and move locations for 4 months and fire half their staff (stylists and aestheticians) and then completely reverted. There is no reliability in this company. Belle Sante in Boston is a much stronger place of business for staff and clients in terms of quality, consistency, and consideration. I had been going to the salon/spa since I was in college, and unfortunately both the quality for the clients and the workers their have dramatically depreciated. read more

I took my daughter here for her Birthday. Everyone was very pleasant and we had a good time. However, we were charged $160 for her shampoo and blowdry, which said $64-105 on the website. During the blowdry, the hairdresser asked if we wanted her ends trimmed a bit. I said sure, assuming that was included, since she said nothing about an added charge of at least $55 dollars for a tiny trim that took about a minute. The manager put the blame on me, instead of just refunding the difference because I was not informed about any additional charge. They have great amenities too, a relaxing lobby with tea water coffee and snacks. A quiet room where can relax. And a sauna. Lockers have always seemed clean to me. Will definitely be returning. I see a lot of reviews here about unhelpful front desk/late policies, but I've never had an experience with that. I've found it very easy to book online. read more

I recently came back from a massage and I'm happy to say that things are doing great with G2O salon. They fix the sauna mat in the ladies locker...the last time I was here I was stuck in the sauna because of a thick rug that jammed the sauna door. No issues now. Staff continues to be nice and polite and I still have my favorite massage therapists Jeff and Jennifer and many others of course. I've been a client for many years and happy to say that they continue to be wonderful. Still the faithful client. I started going to this salon only because my previous stylist moved here due a closure. So while I can't comment on the salon outside of that, I would still not recommend especially in regards to customer service. Unfortunately he had been coloring my hair poorly over the last year-- using bad technique/not long enough processing and ultimately changing the color without my consent. After my last visit I was so deeply upset I reached out for a refund or for someone else to fix. They told the stylist and I felt forced into seeing him again for a "fix". It was far from that. My hair looked like a hay barrel! As someone who always done the same thing for the last 15 years, it was really upsetting to look in the mirror and not see what I prefer and have felt confident with. The biggest issue for me was I was offered NO refund and NO follow up regarding my experience. This review is because I have no way of contacting them other than text message, which was how I had to coordinate and schedule my hair fix the following week. They even asked for photos (what as if I was lying?!). For $500 and almost 6 hours of my life I won't get back to hate my hair for months! read more

I absolutely LOVED my visit at G2O! I booked a haircut with Darren Le looking for a change, and was truly worried since I had had the same hairstyle for almost 10 years. He took the time to listen to what I was looking for, what I didn't want, and gave me advice on how to best care for my new style. He gave me a haircut even more amazing than I could have ever imagined. Booking online was super easy, and the front desk was very helpful in answering questions and helping me choose the right stylist. It's on the expensive side but certainly well worth it. This was a complete failure of a nice spa day. I am currently moving across the country so the day before I move I scheduled a day for myself at this spa. I scheduled a facial for $199. I was under the impression I'd have a days access to the amenities for that cost. After my facial I was told I can't use the amenities and told to stay in a relaxation room. I was given no tour! Long story short, I ended up leaving and I told the front desk that I was unhappy with my experience and I'm sorry to cause a scene or cause any trouble. I told the manager I'm sorry and I've worked in dermatology and I don't mean to be a pain. I told her I was not shown around and my service was not welcoming and I'd appreciate some accommodation. I let her know that I'm moving across the country and today is my last day in Boston. The manager told me it was my fault that I didn't get a tour because I showed up at 1:12 for a 1:15 appointment so they didn't want to cut into my facial therefore they took me straight back. She told me AS YOU SHOULD KNOW HAVING WORKED IN DERMATOLOGY you can't use the steam room or sauna after a hydra facial. I told her I did not know that and I've never had a facial before. I told her that these details should've been communicated to me before my appointment because now I paid nearly $200 for a 30 minute facial. I would've come early to use the amenities if I would have known I couldn't use the amenities after my facial. She told me that she will go back into the recording of the phone call and see what was said... (as if I'm lying). I told the manager I didn't want my discount to be taken out of my aestheticians pay. I wanted maybe a discount for lack of good service and inability to use any of the amenities. She told me "well this would come out of aestheticians pay....". She told me she could give me a $20 off my next service, I reiterated I'm leaving boston and flying back across the country. The manager was extremely rude and passive aggressive. I was crying through this all and still treated poorly from everyone except the front desk women. They discounted a few dollars and charged me $185........ I left after less than an hour and paid $185 for a 30 minute facial. I was yelled at and belittled and blamed for their lack of good service. I am not one to complain or leave reviews. I would recommend spending your money at a hotel spa that's just a few dollars more for a way longer service and more professional treatment. read more

I organized a mini bachelorette spa day for my sister in mid-November here. We got a massage for the bride and 4 gel manicures. Overall, the ambience and space was very beautiful and soothing. There's a large waterfall when you first enter and the rest area has a nice fireplace and large couches for lounging. The locker room was really cool, the lock system was very easy to use and there were a lot of helpful amenities for customers to use, like combs, hair dryers, disposable underwear, q-tips, shower caps, plenty of towels and robes and slippers. There were hot drinks and cookies to snack on. The staff were all very kind and helpful through the whole process, we emailed back and forth and did a few phone calls leading up to the spa day. I initially thought about ordering refreshments for the group from their restaurant partnership, but we had a huge rehearsal lunch, and the included snacks of cookies and drinks seemed to be plenty, so they were very kind about cancelling my initial order. The nail technicians were very friendly and overall did a good job. There were 2 women who did our 4 sets of nails. The woman who did mine and another bridesmaid's nails nicked both of us :( I know it's a risk with getting nails done, but this was a $65 manicure at a very upscale spa. If it was just me, I could understand, but it happened twice! I'm just glad it wasn't the bride. When they found out we were having this spa day as a bachelorette activity, they upgraded my sister's massage to a hot stone massage as a gift. That was very nice of them! With the massage and nail service, we had access to the dry sauna, the wet sauna, and a resting room. The dry sauna was quite spacious and relaxing. It was co-ed, and they provide velcro towel things so you can be covered up while in the sauna. The wet sauna was pretty small. It fit 4 of us okay, but the steam mechanism was super loud and it was hard to talk in there, so we didn't stay in long. The resting room was kind of small, only had 6 oversized one-person couches with very comfy throw blankets. At the time we were there, there were quite a few other customers, so it was kind of crowded. Overall, we had a good time and the bride was happy and relaxed before the big day. read more

After my first time visiting G20 spa, I feel that I would return for one more try as I was happy with the quality of the deep tissue massage (shout out Rich!) and the overall ambiance was very nice. Unfortunately my time there ended somewhat uncomfortably due mostly to a lack of coordination between staff during the checkout process. The service I was there for was a gift from a friend, who had pre paid and tipped before my appointment. When leaving the spa I stopped by the concierge desk inside the spa area to double check that there was nothing else I needed to do to check out before I left. The attendant was very pleasant and assured me that I was all set to go. However there seemed to be some confusion about this as I was exiting the front lobby area, and the attendant behind that desk did not seem to believe that I had already paid and checked out and made the situation far more uncomfortable than it needed to be. I get my relaxers and weaves done by Nadja and absolutely LOVE the entire experience. She is incredibly patient, flexible, and knowledgable and I have been so excited to see the health of my hair and scalp increase dramatically. I love the products they use (Moroccan Oil, Oribe, and more) and the shampoo is my absolute favorite (I don't want to ruin the experience for you but you're in for a treat!) It's been a month since my massage and the experience has still left me bothered so I finally decided to write a review. TLDR: 0/10 would never recommend and will proactively discourage others from their services. I chose G20 mainly for the additional amenities to use after my 90 minute Deep Tissue massage. However, the massage was so awful that I ended up taking a long shower to try and relax and leaving shortly after. I had an appointment with Jeff for a 90-minute-deep tissue massage to celebrate my birthday. He thought this was my first massage as I suppose I look a bit younger than 32 but I assured him it was not my first time. I have been lucky enough to experience massages all around the world and I cannot even begin to explain how disappointing this experience was. For additional context: I'd routinely get a massage twice a month while living in Mexico for the past year. From luxurious resorts to independently owned spas....they ALL have been significantly better than my experience at G20. About 15 minutes into the massage, I informed Jeff that I enjoy firm pressure during my massage where he quickly snapped at my "We are focusing on your breathing." I was so caught off guard by his response I stayed silent. There was no adjustment to pressure, never used his elbows or forearm, and never checked in with me after that. I felt so uncomfortable throughout the experience I just stayed quiet and waited for it to be over. Upon finishing early, I noticed him turn the clock around so I could not easily see that he had finished our massage about 8-10 minutes early. While I certainly understand timing is important throughout the massage, I would have not cared if he finished early had he actually provided proper service. The behavior here is rather disgusting and not something you would expect from an 'upscale' spa experience. From my experience, deep tissue is meant to be just that...a deep tissue experience which was severely lacking. I honestly pet my dog with more pressure than what I received throughout this massage. I will be sharing my experience with management in hopes of further discussing the disappointing massage as I mentioned it has been a month and this still bothers me. My boyfriend and I came for facials. I got the brightening and he got the clarifying. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. Because we were running a little late, they were unable to give us a brief tour as they would have normally done consisting of their locker rooms, lounge area, steam rooms (which were currently closed) and other amenities. The facial was great, almost fell asleep during the 10 min mask. I had a gel-like mask applied with a face sheet to cover while my boyfriend had a clay mask that hardened. This was my second visit and each time was with a different stylist. During quarantine I had decided to "freshen up" my color myself and needed a professional to help correct it. My initial appointment was a long one since there was much to be done and I left not exactly ecstatic about my color. But she acknowledged there was more she could do for me and offered a follow-up appointment at no extra cost, if I was still unhappy. A week later I was able to get an appointment and I couldn't be happier with my hair! The Salon Director was prompt at retuning my call and booking my appointment, and the stylist worked her magic making me a very happy client! I'll definitely be retuning to Salon G20 in the future. The manager said I just assumed you weren't coming anymore. No unlike you if I'm not coming to something I give advance notice. I didn't end up going. Two stars for the technicians! If this review were only regarding the expert technicians, it would be five stars. I believe it's only fair to first state this information. For reference, I booked the Day Before package which includes gel manicures, pedicures, and Bali experience for a MINIMUM of five guests. In early May, I worked with Maria to book the Day Before package for myself and four ladies in my bridal party. Because the booking was made in early May and covid restrictions were in place, we were booked to have our services in two groups -- one of two people and one of three people. The Bali experience was also replaced with the Salt Cave. At the time of booking, I also confirmed with Maria that pregnant women can participate in the Salt Cave. Jump ahead a few weeks when covid restrictions are lifted. Maria did not reach out to me at all. Not a word. I then reached out to her asking if we can now have the original Day Before package with the Bali, and asked for confirmation this is OK for pregnant women. If it's not clear yet, one of the bridesmaids is pregnant. Maria changed the Salt Cave to Bali. I also asked Maria if the party of five (minimum number of people to even book this package) could now have all the treatments done together. After two unanswered emails and a phone call later, Maria's answer -- "we do have five technicians available at one time to do the manicures and pedicures but other people have booked that time now." I was incredibly upset that Maria never once thought about the existing large party reservations made in early May prior to booking other guests during the same time. It seems like a MAJOR oversight to me. She also never responded to my emails sent two weeks prior to getting her on the phone. I arrived to the spa ready to have a good time. I mean, I was with my bridal party and getting married the following day. Upon entry, Maria never introduced herself. She was at the front desk though. I got the sense she was agitated. We all started getting ready for our separate treatments and my pregnant bridesmaid is in her bare, ready for the Bali and the technician tells her she can't go into it. I wanted to cry. In fact, I did. I then went to Maria to ask her why she said this treatment would be OK for my friend, and she was SO RUDE. I mean, SO RUDE. Telling my she did tell me and offering no apologies. I went back through our emails, and in fact it does say that high steam is not OK for pregnant women, but only in a general disclaimer. And the Bali is never directly called out. AND Maria never explicitly stated the information when I asked her. My pregnant friend ended up in the Salt Cave alone and left early because she was bored and came back for her manicure and pedicure appointments later. A technician knew I was upset about the whole thing and apologized. No one else ever said a word to me. I paid for services that not all in my party received and just left because I was getting married and didn't want to deal with Maria any longer. Overall, we all generally had fun in our "pods" for the services. My pregnant friend felt left out even though I tried hard to ensure she would be included in everything. And if the spa is going to mandate a package have at least five people and you have a guest still willing to book with these limitations during covid, have the decency to be more accommodating and on top of the booking. This was not my first time at G20, but it was my last. I'd hate to see how Maria treats guest who book large packages during normal times. read more

We were stuck in traffic and arrived slightly late to our couples massage and were told that they could accommodate us. 30 minutes into our hour-long booked massage, the technicians suddenly stopped and left the room. We specifically asked at the beginning of the massage if we had an hour. We were charged $310 for two 30-minute massages. After complaining, they made us wait around for over an hour to talk to the 'manager', who never came. I know we were slightly late, but this is a pretty ridiculous policy. Recently had my wallet stolen by a client who was getting services done at the same time I went in. The front desk staff was less than helpful and when I told them about the issue said "we have a card on file to use.." I think their service is going downhill a bit. I was so disappointed with that experience and the fact they were more concerned with payment than my stolen wallet and an unhappy client. They told me the other girl who had services done ran out without paying -- and they didn't seem to have any sympathy for the situation. To my knowledge my things were secured in a locker, but the lock must not have been working properly. Be sure to triple check the locks to ensure they work! read more

This is overdue. I've been going here since 2014, and have brought 6 friends and my sister into the fold. Kathleen has been my first hairdresser I trust 100 percent of the time. She's amazing. Lily T. Is fantastic too, she gives me the best cuts. I've seen others when they're booked and I'm in a rush to get in, all have been good. Both Kathleen and Lily listen to my needs and don't make it about their vision at all. There's no ego issues, just great service and expertise. Massage with a woman (Ginny? I'll have to go check and update) was phenomenal. Pros: - Hairstylists are skilled and listen to what you want. If they have ideas or new approaches, they suggest them respectfully. No attitude or ego or agenda. - Great salon space. Love the massages during the hair wash in the wash room. Love the amenities! Use them as often as I have time to, about 1/3 of the time I go in. - I often being my laptop in to work during my hair processing, which is welcomed and fine. - From front desk to phone to the hair wash assistants to the people cleaning to the people getting you a tea or coffee, people are SO NICE and professional.
