    Meatball appetizer with garlic bread.
    Michelle B.

Stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant in the Wyoming area of Cincinnati due to our organization hosting a Christmas luncheon there. It has large glass windows allowing diners to look out at the people enjoying the cute shops along this quiet street. Gabby's is a family-owned restaurant and the DiStasi family has been in the catering and restaurant business for over 50 years. It turns out that our Executive Director has a personal relationship with the family going back for many years, so that made our time at the restaurant even more special as they recounted old memories from high school to today. Our table shared a variety of appetizers: giant meatballs (some of the best I have ever had), garlic bread, cheesy garlic bread, fried pickles, Saratoga chips, and various side salads. The menu ranged from pizza to salmon to lasagna and many other items. I tried the lasagna as this is one of their signature entrees. It was the absolute BEST lasagna I have ever had! I received a huge portion with garlic bread and a side Caesar salad. After all those shared appetizers, I was happy to have half of my lasagna boxed up to have the next day. The meatballs come with plenty of the DiStasis marinara sauce that they are known for. So tangy and a perfect addition to the large meatballs. You can pick up jars of the sauce at the restaurant and purchase online. They do catering, so be sure to check them out for a party or dine-in. You won't be disappointed either way.

Gabby's has a warm, hometown feel and heartwarming food. Nick greeted us with a genuinely warm smile and we felt so welcomed. We requested seats at the bar (because even though there are cozy booths we do live a good bar). Crystal is a fantastic bartender and immediately friendly face. The menu is wide ranging and offers something for everyone. Tonight it was the fish platter and chicken Parmesan. Bocce brews and a lovely wine selection. You can't go wrong with Gabby's!

The amazing bar and wall decor.

Please visit this cozy restaurant. I had the best hamburger I ever had here. The owners were super nice and friendly. The tiramisu was homemade by his wife. They are of Italian descent and you can tell. Brewery on premises.

I was in the area checking out a couple of bookstores and had lunch at Gabby's (courtesy of a Chowdown Cincinnati recommendation). They had a salmon burger special I decided to try and I'm glad I did! It reminded me of a crab cake, which are my favorite, even down to the remoulade sauce. My friend got the fist sandwich and it was huge! The desserts looked so good we had to try to lemoncello marscapone pie and peanut butter pie. Don't skip out on dessert and our server was great!

A great neighborhood eatery, with an Italian bent. I had the calamari and it was very good. Everyone in our Group was pleased with the service and the food. Our table for10 turned into 14 and they handled it with a smile and professionalism. If your in Wyoming, give it a try. You'll be glad you did.

Fried fish sandwich, large and lightly battered. Good taste.

I've had a few carry-out meals at Gabby's over the past few years and I've had some mixed results. They almost always take longer than the quoted time (by a ways), they have forgotten parts of our dinner, and they've The salads have been disappointing, especially the caesar salad - a smattering of lettuce and parmesan shake, nothing special at all. Burgers are... okay. Not amazing, not special, but definitely not bad. The fried fish sandwich is suitably large, lightly fried, and pretty tasty. The batter isn't overwhelming, but it compliments the flavor of the fish well. Their pizzas are their best things, they are well topped and evenly cooked, with great sauce and cheese. I'm more than happy to continue enjoying those. When they've forgotten things? They've more than made up for it, offering a generous compensation on our next order, and being very apologetic - I actually view this as a positive. Mistakes will happen, especially when you're running with a small staff. But how you handle mistakes is big, and Gabby's does a good job!

I just keep liking Gabby's more and more. Today's delight was from a 10" cauliflower crust pizza with meatballs and a little feta (because feta can be overwhelming). The only negative about cauliflower crust is that it is kind of brittle on the edges, so you can't fold your slice for easier eating. On the other hand, as you get toward the edge on your slice, you can easily snap it in half, to finish it without getting any sauce on your face. Anyway, it was delicious, and the service was outstanding. I was able to pass up dessert, but they have some amazing choices, starting with their limoncello mascarpone cake. Their peanut butter pie can be eaten as two desserts. I like to scrape off the chocolate ganache and eat it first, leaving an intense peanut butter treat. If you prefer your peanut and chocolate together, though, just eat it as it is presented. Anyway, if you want a good meal and/or a good dessert, visit Gabby's Cafe.

Best mozzarella sticks: it's obvious it's a higher quality mozz than whatever everyone else uses. Crispy perfection! Best GF/cauliflower pizza: lots of toppings to choose from (though somehow chicken isn't an option on DD) and again, from the mushrooms to the sauce, you can taste the difference. They make the sauces in house! According to my husband, best Chicken Parm he has had since moving here! You get a healthy portion. And...best cannoli in the area! Growing up in a predominantly Italian and Polish area, I have been lucky to have REALLY good Italian pastries...and their cannoli was reminiscent of those times. This has been the ONLY cannoli in the greater Cincy area that is worth consuming, IMO. All in all, we would dine in at Il Gusto constantly, if we lived closer. Glad they're on DoorDash though! If you are in the Kenwood area, and want a break from the chaos and crowds, Il Gusto is close by!

The 6 pm reservation was perfect. We finished our meal in plenty of time. The place was pretty empty when we arrived. It was maybe half full by the time we left, which was @ 7 pm. The bread, as many have stated, is pretty blah. Thankfully, the butter in the tiny little container was room temperature and spread easily. Our server promised us plates for the bread... twice. Plates for the bread were never brought to the table. Two of us ordered Penne Boscaiola - Homemade penne pasta folded in a tomato meat sauce with mushrooms, peas, and a touch of cream. Mark had Pesto Pasta - Fettuccini pasta sauteed with garlic, Parmesan, fresh basil, olite oil, and a touch of cream w/ Chicken. All servings were large. Had we not been going to a show we could have had a second meal at home with the leftovers. Mark and I started with Tomato Basil (House Specialty) - Creamed tomatoes, fresh basil, and a touch of cream. It was a nice serving and it was delicious. Julie had Greek Salad - Romain lettuce, black and green olives, croutons and tomatoes topped with crumbled feta cheese. Served with olive oil and red wine vinegar. She said it was good and fresh. The Penne Boscaiola was okay. It was a bit bland. I found the peas to have a skosh too much crunch for my taste. The mushrooms, and I love mushrooms, seemed overwhelming? I know, it's weird. They were slightly rubbery in pieces that were larger than needed. The mushrooms required plenty of chewing. Mark thought the Pesto Pasta was good. He did clear his plate. There's something to be said about that. Mark and I both had Tiramisu for dessert. It was delicious. It had a very light, boozy flavor though I'm sure it didn't contain any alcohol. Our third got a piece of banana cream pie. It was large. Thankfully she wasn't able to finish it so I got a solid taste. It was phenomenal! It was SO creamy! A tiny bite would explode in my mouth and fill it with the intensely creamy banana flavor. The mouthfeel was extraordinary. The server didn't ask how to split the bill. As a result we needed to wait until she separated out the meals, by hand, and rang us up (two bills instead of one) while we waited. I don't think we'd go back.

All tables have the cutest box-light centerpieces, all with fresh flowers, that added to the ambiance. Our server, Kayla, was smiley and fun! She explained all we needed to know about the nightly specials. She knew the menu well. There were also lovely food runners and other staff that kept our night going smoothly. This is what we had for dinner and our thoughts: Mussels - The PEI mussels were so plump and cooked perfectly. We sopped up all the broth we could with the charred bread pieces. I wanted to pick up the bowl and drink the rest. We order mussels at most places that offer them, and these were the best we have had in Cincinnati. Croquetas - These were interesting. The flavors were good, but we thought the consistency was a little pasty. It was like all the ingredients were blended up together in a, well, paste. Pasta Duo - We chose the Wild Mushroom in vodka sauce, and the Gnocchi Bolognese. We thought the vodka sauce overwhelmed the mushroom in the ravioli and that maybe a lighter sauce would complement the mushroom filling better. However, the sauce was excellent. The gnocchi were pillowy and tasty with the sauce, but there was not much beef in the bolognese. Although these weren't the favorites of the night, they were still very good. Skirt Steak with Chimichurri - OMG! I don't usually order steak out, but serving skirt is rare and it is one of my favorite cuts. It was so tender with a fabulous grill flavor and the most delicious chimichurri. Except for about four bites my wife enjoyed, I ate the whole 10oz steak!! It is pricy, but I would gladly spend the money for this excellent preparation again. The potatoes were roasted and seasoned well, but I wish there were more than five pieces of asparagus for the price. Chocolate Caramel Tiramisu - Very light and chocolatey. Yum! We will be back over and over for the mussels and skirt steak.
