We had heard about this restaurant from a friend so we decided to try it for lunch. It's right on Wyoming Avenue at the border of Wyoming and Lockland. The lunch and dinner menus are the same but they have a variety of daily specials. We kept it simple for lunch: a hamburger with fries and a veggie burger with Saratoga chips. The burger was big and tasty but the veggie patty didn't have much taste and the texture was too soft. It's not something I would order again. A soft drink and a beer (the place is also a brew pub) ran up a bill of $40. It's primarily an Italian place but there are several non-Italian choices from Fish & Chips to Rueben sandwiches. It has a nice, cozy ambiance and service was prompt and courteous. It could easily become my local hangout except it's just a little too far from my home. Was recommended to try this place and glad that I finally made it here. The menu was an interesting combination of Italian and American dishes, but they did a great job with everything we ordered. Father in law is a regular and ordered the ribs and they looked pretty solid. I ordered the lasagna and it was outstanding. Stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant in the Wyoming area of Cincinnati due to our organization hosting a Christmas luncheon there. It has large glass windows allowing diners to look out at the people enjoying the cute shops along this quiet street. Gabby's is a family-owned restaurant and the DiStasi family has been in the catering and restaurant business for over 50 years. It turns out that our Executive Director has a personal relationship with the family going back for many years, so that made our time at the restaurant even more special as they recounted old memories from high school to today. Our table shared a variety of appetizers: giant meatballs (some of the best I have ever had), garlic bread, cheesy garlic bread, fried pickles, Saratoga chips, and various side salads. The menu ranged from pizza to salmon to lasagna and many other items. I tried the lasagna as this is one of their signature entrees. It was the absolute BEST lasagna I have ever had! I received a huge portion with garlic bread and a side Caesar salad. After all those shared appetizers, I was happy to have half of my lasagna boxed up to have the next day. The meatballs come with plenty of the DiStasis marinara sauce that they are known for. So tangy and a perfect addition to the large meatballs. You can pick up jars of the sauce at the restaurant and purchase online. They do catering, so be sure to check them out for a party or dine-in. You won't be disappointed either way. read more

Gabby's has a warm, hometown feel and heartwarming food. Nick greeted us with a genuinely warm smile and we felt so welcomed. We requested seats at the bar (because even though there are cozy booths we do live a good bar). Crystal is a fantastic bartender and immediately friendly face. I was in the area checking out a couple of bookstores and had lunch at Gabby's (courtesy of a Chowdown Cincinnati recommendation). They had a salmon burger special I decided to try and I'm glad I did! It reminded me of a crab cake, which are my favorite, even down to the remoulade sauce. My friend got the fist sandwich and it was huge! The desserts looked so good we had to try to lemoncello marscapone pie and peanut butter pie. I've had a few carry-out meals at Gabby's over the past few years and I've had some mixed results. They almost always take longer than the quoted time (by a ways), they have forgotten parts of our dinner, and they've The salads have been disappointing, especially the caesar salad - a smattering of lettuce and parmesan shake, nothing special at all. Burgers are... okay. Not amazing, not special, but definitely not bad. The fried fish sandwich is suitably large, lightly fried, and pretty tasty. The batter isn't overwhelming, but it compliments the flavor of the fish well. Their pizzas are their best things, they are well topped and evenly cooked, with great sauce and cheese. I'm more than happy to continue enjoying those. When they've forgotten things? They've more than made up for it, offering a generous compensation on our next order, and being very apologetic - I actually view this as a positive. I was so excited to try this bistro but I was very disappointed. It took over 5 minutes to seat me even though there was no line. The server seemed indifferent and the Ruben was more bread than any meat or kraut. I had to ask for more dressing after waiting for my server to come back to check (approximately 6-7 minutes). We've never been disappointed in our many visits to Gabby's. I have had the salmon most every time. My absolute favorite part of my meal though is the sautéed veggies. My husband and friends have sampled several different menu items and always enjoy their meals. I always forget pictures because I'm so excited for their first bites! Desserts here are plenty and also delicious. Service is always great and pretty prompt. The owner and manager are often seen stopping in and checking with diners. We usually make reservations on weekends just to be sure we'll have a table when we arrive. It's a small space with a front dining room and some seating in the bar area. read more

Pizza was burnt send it back. It was burnt again. We usually love the food at Gabby's but this was the worst pizza. I think we've ever had. The server didn't acknowledge that it was burnt the second time and didn't check back with us. Very disappointed. Server could have cared less! read more

I just keep liking Gabby's more and more. Today's delight was from a 10" cauliflower crust pizza with meatballs and a little feta (because feta can be overwhelming). The only negative about cauliflower crust is that it is kind of brittle on the edges, so you can't fold your slice for easier eating. On the other hand, as you get toward the edge on your slice, you can easily snap it in half, to finish it without getting any sauce on your face. Anyway, it was delicious, and the service was outstanding. I was able to pass up dessert, but they have some amazing choices, starting with their limoncello mascarpone cake. Their peanut butter pie can be eaten as two desserts. I like to scrape off the chocolate ganache and eat it first, leaving an intense peanut butter treat. GABBY'S DOES IT AGAIN! When the Carnivore in me comes calling, a Gabby's Angus Burger fills the bill. But now, Gabby's has a Filet Mignon with a Red Wine Reduction that is UNBELIEVABLE! The lasagna is his mom's recipe and it's delicious. Dino and Mary Ann opened their restaurant for a fundraiser on Sunday, September 8th and it was a huge success. I give this place a solid 3.5. We've been here half a dozen times and more recently we've found items that we really like. We like the wings which are fried perfectly, not too light not too hard. The fried mozzarella comes smothered in a delicious marinara sauce which tastes like something prepared right at home. The Saratoga chips are delicious and remind me of Montgomery Inn back in the day. More recently, we stopped here for a quick drink and we were greeted with smiles and good service. As a teen who lives in Wyoming, I have never been more annoyed with a restaurant in my life. I can't even comment on the food, because they wouldn't even give us a chance to try it. Since me and my friends were not all 16 or didn't have an ID with us, we were kicked out I fully understand why they would have a rule like this, but it isn't written anywhere outside the restaurant or near the entrance, so how were we supposed to know we couldn't eat there. Also we were being incredibly respectful and fully intended to not disturb any other customers (even though there was no one else there). It also annoyed me that they sat us down and gave us a menu, and then kicked us out. If you are gonna kick me out of a restaurant, just do it as soon as I walk in rather than making me think that I could possible be served. Finally, I know people who are under 16 that have eaten there without a guardian, so if you are going to have a dumb rule like this, you might as well enforce it for everyone, or get rid of it altogether. We just ended up going to a different restaurant near by which actually served us. read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the fish and chips. It took a little longer than expected with me being the only person (maybe 1 other table of 2?) there. When the food arrived, it was fresh and hot. The fish and chips were good, but the coleslaw is what I really think was great. You can definitely tell that they make it fresh there. Picked up dinner and the way home from work and we were not disappointed. My wife's pizza was spot on with a generous helping of Italian sausage added. I had the hot wings which were perfectly cooked and nicely hot. The Greek salad was good but not remarkable and the large was a bit paltry. Food has gone down recently. Used to go once a week but now I can't remember the last time I ate there.

My 4 yrs old niece had to use the bathroom before she dined here, but was told she couldn't by the Manager Joe. Who treats a 4 year old this way? I'll never come back if this is the way they treats their customer. I just moved to this area and I was referred to this restaurant by a resident in Wyoming, and ended up explaining to my 4 year old niece about racism. It's 2023, I thought we were past segregation but obviously not. I'll be sure to share with, my co-workers, family, friend, and social media about how we were treated. Gabby's has been an all-around "good" experience every time we've been, which is probably about once every three months. Once again, unless it's absolutely impossible, my choice for a meal at any time of day will always be an independently owned restaurant. What's interesting about Gabby's is that it's Italian-owned (a plus) but by no means would it be classed as an Italian restaurant. The "Café" part says it all. Cozy, unpretentious, a relatively small menu, but a number of unique and tasty items, including a few Italian specialties, that warrant a visit and keep us coming back. My never-go-wrong luncheon choice is the curry chicken salad sandwich (Substituting the wondrous pretzel bun for wheat bread) with a side of the vegetable slaw. There's just enough curry in the chicken salad to make it interesting, along with grapes and other secret ingredients I'm sure. I've had many a chicken salad sandwich at many a deli and diner (Over many a decade in New York, the deli and diner capital of the world) and Gabby's is one of the BEST I've ever had. And that's saying a lot. High marks on that slaw too, its a must-try, and my husband is crazy about their Reuben sandwich. A standout on the appetizer list is the Asparagus Fries. Love that aioli! French fries (potatoes that is) also excellent. We did not care much for their soups. One disappointment with the menu, is that so much of it is devoted to those "gourmet" thin crust single portion "pizzas." Of course, this IS Ohio, so it's not a surprise to find this item so prominent. Don't miss the little bar area, a separate room at the rear with a small bar and some tables. (This probably was the smoking section, before the almighty state decided to forbid business owners from making their own decisions on how they choose to accommodate their customers.) Nice beer selection, including local brews. It's comfortable to eat lunch at the bar. Service is a little weak, though never unfriendly. (Maybe that's why we enjoyed eating at the bar, since it's so close to the kitchen and the bartender is kind of "trapped."). Prices seem a bit above average at least on some of the lunch items, but the quality of those we've tried make it justified. On the other hand, the dinner prices seem very reasonable. Oddly, I've never tried the lasagna or pastas, but that's probably because we've only been here at lunchtime. Will revisit this review if we ever make it for dinner. All in all, 3 1/2 stars. read more
