Can't see why it's rated so high. Marginal even for a greasy spoon. I ordered the eggs and sausage with 3 eggs and cheddar cheese on top. I usually order a varient to see if the server is listening and if the cook can adapt, fail on both. I got 2 eggs, no cheddar and very overcooked hash browns. The toast was untoasted and soaked with oil...yuk. This cook is lacking even the basic skills and common cooking sense. There are way better spoons out there, don't waste your money here. read more

Breakfast was fast and service was great. Staff was super friendly. We had the bacon skillet and Denver omelette. The omelette was huge and who doesn't love bacon, especially when its in a skillet! The homemade cinnamon rolls are to die for as they are huge! This cinnamon roll puts Johnson Corner to shame. This is our new favorite breakfast place I look forward to trying lunch there. read more

We went for breakfast this past weekend, we ordered the breakfast burrito, bacon and eggs and country fried steak. The food was all very good, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. I've been here a few times and really haven't tried a variety of dishes. With the exception of once I ordered a skillet besides a chicken fried steak with eggs, hashbrowns and eggs. The skillet was good but I can't really compare. The chicken fried steak is one of the best I've had and that's why I keep ordering it, I already know what to expect, it's a large portion for I'm I'm hungry. Comfortable, down-home cafe complete with sassy waitresses! We stopped in on Sat and I had the 1/2 biscuit & gravy combo (with eggs, hashbrowns plus bacon as an add on). First time eating here and the food was awesome. Our favorite of the three things we ordered was Gabes skillet. He is not stingy with the portions. My wife especially liked that it was not dry like other places. The place was packed the entire time. Which means a lot of people like this place. Enjoyed breakfast immensely. I ordered a skillet, and it was fantastic! The eggs were cooked to perfection, and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious down to the last bite. I usually never finish all my food, but here, I had to savor every morsel. Even the toast was better than at your average breakfast chain! The atmosphere was equally wonderful. Every single time I have eaten here with my mother-in-law, the food has always been absolutely outstanding. THIS is the place to go to for breakfast. There is a small town charm to the establishment and you can tell there are lots of regulars there and the waitresses know them well. We enjoy our meals there and the price is affordable and not gouging. We thoroughly enjoy ourselves every single time we eat at Gabe's. We only wish they were were open for dinner!!! read more

Went for breakfast for the first time today. I got sausage links & eggs with hash browns, rye toast & iced tea. I asked for sunny side up & was told my choices were scrambled, over easy, medium or hard. This made me hesitate, but my over easy eggs were perfect. Plenty of yolk to dip my toast. A little short on toast butter, so I will ask for some butter on the side next time. Had to ask for a straw. Atmosphere was classic Dacono. Over all, the food was very good! Not expensive, but not cheap. $10.06 before tip. I will definitely go back. I'll try something a little more "daring" next time. The 3 star rating will likely go up. read more

This is a great "hole in the wall" cafe. The food is fantastic. This has become our favorite breakfast place in the Tri- town area. You may have to wait a little to get in, but once you do try Gabe's Breakfast Skillet with green chile. Yum. Went there on a Friday morning - this place is very unassuming- it was busy, we had a group of 6 and only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. The place is small but the food was good- tasted like home-made, the portions were appropriate for the price and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. We love Gabe's! My daughter and I go there maybe once a week for a late breakfast. The service is always friendly and the food is like what Mom made when I was growing up. I love it and have never gotten a bad meal. The green chili is great and so is the steak, just right for a breakfast. I can't wait to bring my granddaughters there, they enjoy restaurants where the servers actually talk and laugh with you. If you're looking for classy, don't go there. The huevos rancheros is a very generous portion, including delicious green chili, spicy chorizo, and grilled sliced jalapenos (a nice touch). The overall effect of these ingredients is a smidge excessive in terms of spiciness, but with some stamina, the dish can be enjoyed much more than huevos rancheros at other restaurants. It's not chock-full of onions and potatoes like other huevos rancheros recipes designed to save money; instead, it has all the requisite elements of flavor without being overly-salty or overly-expensive. I tend factor coffee quality in my ratings with greater weight than would be fair for a café that has such delicious food, and I'll concede that coffee at 6:00 AM is a tool more than a toy, but as a favor to Gabe's, I'd have to offer my opinion that improving their coffee (either the source or it's preparation) would go a very long way towards five stars. The coffee we had on our visit was thin and chalky-tasting -- I'd imagine some very simple adjustments would improve it mightily. Keep the coffee mugs, however; I love the thick, sturdy heat-keeping ones they use :-) The service was excellent -- the one server and one cook were working their butts off. The facility was clean and inviting -- the banquettes still have the upholstery from the Thai restaurant that formerly occupied the space, but they are very comfortable. read more

Superb Café! The food is always cooked just right and portion sizes are perfect every time. When I went for breakfast I was impressed by the breakfast meat -generous portions and they know how to cook bacon so its not burnt or to undercooked. When I went for lunch it was perfect! I had a healthy portion of chicken fried steak that I could cut with my fork and not too bready. The only drawback is their price for coffee... a bit spendy if you don't drink more than 2 cups. And I know one of the raters on here who gave it 2 stars: only because they OWN a competitors Cafe in Firestone. read more

I like to spend my money on local businesses but sometimes it isn't worth it. Food is ok. Fish and chicken tenders were over cooked and the service was horrendous. Was there for lunch a week ago and the waitstaff was horse playing with other patrons. Carrying so loud that we could not have a conversation at our own table and older gentleman patron was flirting with staff and the staff was egging it on. So unprofessional and disruptive to other patrons that were trying to eat lunch. The older gentleman started throwing paper across the dining room over my head and staff was yelling at Him from across the room to knock it off. On top of all that our waitress gave a patron behind us a small bowl of whip cream that he then smeared in the face of the other waitress which caused her to make huge scene in the dining room. It was absolutely ridiculous. It was the first time I had taken my aunt into a local eatery and that is her first impression of your establishment. Besides all the ruckus, the dining room was not very welcoming with dirty mop buckets left by the table, dirty condiment bottles. I asked for some malt vinegar and the bottle we were handed was sticky and dirty and has about a tablespoon of vinegar left in it. Gross! I will think twice about setting foot in this business. Was so much nicer a year ago and busier I guess the owners are letting things slip and treats there business as a family gathering and party with a locals running amuck rather than providing a great business eatery in this community. read more
