I've been hearing my neighbors rant and rave about this new Doug's Diner in Longmont/Mead, CO. So, I decided to give this place a try to update my readers. Doug's Diner is located where the old Red Rooster diner used to be. The service we received at this diner was excellent! The service was super friendly, welcoming and attentive. I would give it six out of five stars! Our waitress' name was Shawna. Her service was absolutely remarkable! She was very knowledgeable of the menu items and her recommendations were spot-on! Another great serving professional is Aaron! Honestly, everyone that works here is super-friendly and willing to go out of their way to accommodate you. If you like meat (like I do), then you've made the right choice by coming to this diner! Be prepared to go there with you appetite as well, as their portion sizes are big. Big enough that you can make two meals out of what they bring to you. Everything you order is cooked to your requested preference -- with perfection! For example, when I go to a diner and order hash browns crispy, they are usually somewhat crispy on the outside and NEVER crispy in the middle. But not here. The hashbrowns were crispy to perfection all the way through! My eggs were also cooked to perfection with loads of bacon. I have found my 'repeat' diner. I highly recommend this diner to my readers!

Food is always delicious, good quality food products, the service is amazing, they care you are enjoying your meal. The atmosphere is a hometown feel. They make their own salsas and have local Horesetooth hot sauces to add to any meal.

Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. The service was extremely disappointing from start to finish. We waited about 20 minutes just for drinks and eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves. When we asked about it, the bartender simply said, "I'm working on it," which was frustrating given how long we had already been waiting. There were 4 tales in the restaurant and like 8 employees Things did not improve from there. Our food came out very slowly and one of the meals had to be sent back. We ended up having to go to the bar multiple times, including for a to go box and even to get our check, because no one was checking on our table. To make matters worse, the menu states that guests are asked to limit their visit to 90 minutes. However, due to the slow and inattentive service, we were there for nearly two hours through no fault of our own. There also used to be a sense of customer service here, which seems to have changed. To top it off, gratuity was automatically added without it being mentioned or explained. That felt especially inappropriate considering we ended up doing a large portion of the service ourselves. It's like they figured they were getting auti gratuity so didn't provide any service Really disappointing experience overall. Not sure what changed, but this was a huge step down from our previous visit.

There are multiple seating options - inside, patio, or rooftop. We opted for the rooftop and the vibes were excellent. The weather was gorgeous and the rooftop patio is nicely decorated with live plants and a big bar running the length of the patio. Our server was excellent. I think his name was Danny. One of our party has an alcohol intolerance, so needs to avoid foods cooked with alcohol. Danny was super helpful in guiding our menu options with this information. He confirmed multiple dishes with the chef before we ordered. For food, we started with the Truffle Parm Fries, Fried Brussels Sprouts, and the Bangin' Cauliflower. All were delicious. The cauliflower was extremely good, I can see why so many reviews mention it. For entrees, our group ordered the Short Rib Tacos, Jumbo Crab Cakes, Chilean Salmon, and the Avocado Salad with Seared Ahi. No complaints around the table. The meat in the Short Rib tacos is super tasty. Portions were good sized, however the Crab Cake dish is definitely smaller than the others. Good option if you aren't super hungry. The Chilean Salmon was cooked perfectly. We didn't really have any complaints at all. Solid dining experience. Would definitely return if I'm ever back in the Longmont area.

Not as pleased with the entree. Mostly fries and not much meat. Would have gone for the short rib. Nice ambiance inside. Easy parking.

They gave me an email address to which I sent more particulars, and guess what? No one responded. So apparently they think it's ok to keep allowing their cooks to not cover their heads or wear gloves while scratching their scalps and then preparing food. That's what we saw while dealing with their front clerk. So like others have said here, she isn't pleasant. We ordered our to-go burgers medium with a little pink. She said no one orders burgers that way. And wasn't pleasant about it. Hello! We have ordered burgers that way forever. My husband's came out right, mine was well done. Tasty, but I kept wondering what viruses I might be getting from whatever was on the cook's head. The Brussels sprouts were dripping with excess grease. I lived, but with no real response from the owners, I won't be back.

I've ordered this countless times with no issue. The lady at the register kept asking if I wanted a single or double chicken. I said, I only want one breaded/crispy chicken. She got kind of rude and kept repeating "single or double". I continued to say just a single. Even held up a finger. I wasn't sure what to do with the interaction. I also specifically said "I don't want grilled" and "thats crispy right"? You never guess what I got... a grilled chicken sandy. Not a big deal.... I'll just go back in and ask them to correct it. Wrong, she argued with me. She started talking over me and was completely rude. Evidently she doesn't know what the word breaded means and tried to correct me on what I need to order. Super rude interaction. Customer service = terrible Food = pretty tasty, great job cooks.

Seth provided amazing service and was fun to talk to. He recommended all the yummy stuff for us and even took my side of fried green beans vs cheese curds. He's not wrong, cheese curds are more popular and fried green beans are less commonly found. We freaking love the fried green beans! So deliciously coated with the batter and it goes so well as a beer pairing! My favorite was the Strawberry Vanilla Sour and the Radler, the orange juice and the lemonade on top of the cream ale was so tasty and refreshing! My partner got the Psychotic Balaclava Horchata Imperial Stout as it was award winning and the Lazy Hazy Crazy Day-z NEIPA, both are yummy too. They have indoor and patio seating options. We sat on the patio. The weather was beautiful! You request service by using a little sign on the table. Sign up means you need something, sign down means do not disturb. We actually really liked this model; whenever the sign was up service was super prompt and friendly. Wish more places did this. We started with the Colorado Poutine. For entrees our group ordered the Bacon Onion Jam Burger, White Cheddar Bacon Burger, Bulgogi Burger, and the Hatch Chile Philly. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. My fries were a tad over-salted, but still super tasty. I really liked how the toasted buns actually held up to the weight of the burgers. You know how some places use flimsy buns which fall apart while you eat burger? Not the case here. One of our party ordered the Fried Green Beans as their side. Personally I wasn't a fan, but they liked them a lot - said they were the best fried green beans they've ever had. If you're craving a hefty burger - this is the spot for you!
