My friend and I attempted to have lunch there the other day. However, since they had run out of the soup of the day by Noon, had only two dressings to choose from and no olive oil, and my friend's grilled cheese was so undercooked the cheese was still solid and the bread still white, it proved to be an unmet goal. I've had curiosity for the restaurant for a couple finally decided to go and check it out. Our younger waitress was very nice and attentive, unfortunately I can't say for the older waitress. My daughter tried getting her attention more than once and was ignored. The food was very good for a smaller diner but unfortunately my plate had gum attached to the side of the plate, I hadn't realized till after I had already ate my meal. read more

First time eaters at Gabe's cafe. Felt very welcomed as we entered the restaurant looked well organized and clean staff where very friendly. Ordered breakfast and I must say the eggs were the freshest and tastiest I have had in a long time and cooked perfectly, coffee was awesome only wish they had real half and half other than the nondairy stuff. You're not going to go out of your way to go to Gabe's... and the patrons in this Dacono local's breakfast/lunch joint surely like it that way: more for them. Me and my son stumbled into it when we were near Blitz Paintball and had to kill an hour. Just moved to new location yesterday on 5th in Frederick where Peel used to be (they're now on corner next door). Very well organized to be "new". Excellent service and great food at reasonable prices. Breakfast served whenever they're open. AMAZING menu of breakfast and lunch options. Corned beef hash with eggs and crispy hash browns ... yummy. Tasty tamales ( also served with eggs as breakfast choice). The big breakfast burrito with BOTH green chili and white cream gravy - sounds iffy but DELICIOUS - is a treat. Howdy y'all. This is a little home town gem. It's parking is tight, but, not impossible. I don't know what the lunch crowd is like, but I assume it will be just as packed. The place: It has the cafe feel, open and lots of tables. Which is good because it was pretty full. I had a mid week working breakfast with a crew of contractors, they didn't mind us taking over a table for an hour. It was pretty clean and well maintained. There wasn't anything hokey or half fixed that stood out to me. The locals didn't seem to mind us too much. Service was prompt and very friendly, I never had to ask for a top up on coffee or look for the waitress. The food came pretty fast and was done up right, so the kitchen staff was on their game that day. Food wise, I had the chicken fried steak, hash browns, side of biscuits and gravy. Being from Kentucky, I am a stickler for all of the above... I have to say that I was happy with it all. The meat was tender and had a good flavor, the hash browns were in fact browned - not half frozen blonde thingies... Sadly, the gravy was not up to my home made standards, but, it didn't taste like a mix packet, it was the proper thickness and did taste good - for non KY goodness. I would have it again without worrying what I would get. My builder had a stack of pancakes that looked home made, big fluffy ones... I can't remember what the other guys had, but, everyone was happy. Prices are pretty reasonable, it didn't break the bank to pay for the crew. I would say, go get some food, you won't be sorry. Today (2/5/22) Had an order to go. When I was walking in, the guy before me was carrying plastic bags of food. We walked in together and I stood off to the side. He sets the food on the counter and says he got home and looked in the bags and realized this is not his order. The hostess apologizes and then soon another person brings up his correct order and he walks away, again with apologies on the mix up. My turn is next, I say the name the order was placed under, I pay the bill and then the hostess says this is your order and points to the bags that the guy before brought in. I said, "He just said he took them home and looked in the boxes. He looks like a nice guy, but I don't want that food and this should be remade." The hostess talked with I am guessing the manager and this person wouldn't talk with me and told the hostess it will be 30 minutes to remake it. I was fine with that. I actually came back about 15 minutes later and the person which I am guessing is the manager hands me two plastic bags of food that were on the counter. I can not prove this, but when I got home, the toast was rubbery, my pancakes were cold and the bread on the patty melts were like rubber and cold, the biscuits and gravy were cold and the biscuits were hard, again, I can not confirm this, but it seems to me that this was the same food; it should have been freshly made and clearly was not. I normally don't complain on Yelp because there is enough negative in the world and my family and extended family eat at this restaurant at least 10 times between all us in a month to support local businesses, but after this we do not trust that the best practices are/were being followed. I filed a complaint with the local health department because they tried to give me food that left their premises, taken to someone's home, opened them and returned them. read more
