The guys at Gadgetworks are nice and helpful. My iphone 5 got wet - they tried to fix it by opening and cleaning it inside with alcohol. They got mine to power up again but it did not have any Wifi or Bluetooth service. They only charged me $25 which is their fee for trying to get it working again which I think is very fair. I would recommend them to you for your cell phone repairs. read more

Apple told me that batteries are not replacable on my iPhone 5S. Wrong, I saw Ermin at Glenview GadgetWorks today and for $40 he swapped my battery while I was waiting. Gadgetworks has proven and been completely unprofessional, overpriced, and carries counterfeit merchandise that does not last! I paid $100 for an aftermarket screen which had a yellow tint. Two days later the whole screen popped out from a simple tap. Went back to let them know what had happened and was treated with such disrespect and ultimately was told I was a liar. My $100 was very important to them for obvious reasons so I ended the conversation and just walked out. read more

I brought in my work cell phone for a new 5S screen which was cracked. They quoted me around $100 and told me 45 min, since my company was paying for it I simply agreed and waited. Fast forward a few months down the road and now I needed a new phone screen for my personal phone, as well as a new keyboard installed on my laptop. I decided this time around to venture outside the pearly gates of GadgetWorks, which led me to Barrys Computer Consulting (a Veteran working out of his home and does the work in half the time for the half the price). After sitting and watching Barry do his magic, I asked him to look at my work phone as it was starting to take a few clicks on the home button in order for it to register. Barry opened the phone in seconds and immediately turns to me and asks 'Who worked on this phone?'. As it turns out the home button was not OEM or Apple, the phone itself was missing approximately 1-2 screws (which can only come off when the screen is off), and therefore the finger print technology was completely incapable of working. I was shocked as Barry showed me where it was missing screws, as well as comparing the button on my work phone (5s) compared to one of his own OEM products he uses on his repairs. Barry and I laughed a bit about it and I went on my way after he ever-so-kindly replaced the missing screws free of charge. I let this experience simmer for a few weeks until finally deciding to leave a review of 'Gadget Works', where I left a less than stellar review and experience based precisely on price, time, and customer care considering I felt cheated. Stay with me cause this is the good part... About 3 hours after I leave MY personal opinion and MY personal review on Yelp, I get a call from an unknown number at 8:46 PM, it turns out it was the owner of Gadget Works, lets call him 'Tony'. Tony took it upon himself to tell me I was wrong, and that when I brought my work phone in it also had water damage, making the home button malfunction. I simply said 'Thanks, take care' and hung up. Who knows, he may be right, I may be totally wrong. No more than 2 minutes later 'Tony' decides to take it upon himself to call my PERSONAL cell phone number just before 9 PM to try and talk to me again to take down my review. Keep in mind the only reason he/they have my number was to call me when my WORK phone was finished getting fixed months ago', NOT to try and make me take down my review. I ended up feeling sorry for him and actually deleted my initial comment, which is no-where near as detailed as this one is. Well 'Tony', this review will not be deleted, and since you took it upon yourself to call me while I was in my pajamas, I have made the executive decision to BLOCK your phone number, as well as Gadget Works. If you call, email, or even send me a message I swear on all things holy that I will treat it as harassment. Customers beware, he (Gadget Works) will use YOUR personal information from your 'repairs' to call and contact you if you have an opinion he doesn't approve of, EVEN AT 9PM.I guess Gadget Works and my work phone both have a few screws loose. read more

Took my son's iPhone with a shattered screen and missing home button for repair. I scheduled an appointment on their website, brought it in, and the phone was repaired in an hour. Our son spilled on his new MacBook Pro two years ago. Two Apple stores said it would cost $1100 to repair - not much less than another new MacBook. A friend told me about Gadgetworks. They quickly diagnosed that part of a circuit board had fried and they offered to repair the board, not replace it, for $400. If that didn't work, they would take it off my hands to use for parts and not charge me for their efforts. It was back in my hands a few days later and I'm using that same MacBook to write this review 2 years later. As a very happy customer, I would recommend Gadgetworks to anyone. read more

I took my laptop to GadgetWorks Glenview store, Prashant Patel, the owner of the store answered all of my questions and was very pleasant. They ordered a new hard-drive, installed it and recovered the data from the old drive. They did this all in about a week. The charge was very fair. A few weeks later, I had further trouble with the computer, no fault of theirs, they put in another new hard-drive and again recovered my data at no additional charge. I highly recommend this store for their great prompt service, pleasantness and abilities. read more

I was at gadget works earlier last week to fix a cracked screen and broken phone. The man at the desk was very nice to me, and fixed my phone in a reasonably quick amount of time. It has been about a week, and I am yet to have any problems! Out of the many places I have tried to look to get a screen fixed it is somewhat reasonable, and the service is worth it. Also they offer a 90 day warranty, if there are any problems which I already stated I do not. I recommend this place to others for good quality in service therefore giving Gadget Works in the glen, Glenview IL Five stars. read more

Never use Gadgetworks. I brought my iPhone 6 in for repairs due to a cracked screen/lcd. Online it said that the process would take a total of 30 minutes, but it ended up taking about an hour for the entire process. After it was done, I noticed purple and green hues along the top of the screen. I told the worker and he had said it is part of the wallpaper, but I went into my phone and showed him it was his error while putting on the screen. While this seems pretty minute, it only got worse. I gave him by phone back and he worked at it some more. He handed it back, but it still wasn't gone. I gave him it back and he worked on it more. It looked okay, but later I would soon find out that there more small green hues along the top of the screen that I failed to notice as I was in the store. Anyways, as I started to use my phone I noticed that my screen wasn't working. I thought this was just because I had to break in the new glass, but upon further inspection I noticed that the screen wasn't fully on. On the side of the phone itself, i noticed an opening. I looked at it, and it was a gap in between the frame and the screen. I knew it was thing because every time I turned on my phone, I saw the lcd light shining through. My screen would only work 100% functional when I would hold the screen down with one hand. As time went on, I noticed the issues becoming worse. I was on my phone sitting on the carpet in my room when my phone slipped out of my hand and landed on the ground. I am not very tall, standing at five foot six, meaning that when I sit on the ground my hand is about one foot in height off the ground. This is a routine drop of a small height on a very soft surface, so I expected nothing to be broken, but boy was I wrong. I picked up my phone, and my touch screen started working perfectly, so there is a plus, but this plus has been met by such a huge negative that has led me to write this review. I started to notice a clicking sound every time I pressed on my phone, as well as hearing a distorted noise when I pressed the home button. I inspected my phone, mind you this was pretty much immediately after I dropped my phone on the soft carpet from a very small height, and saw that my screen was nearly off my entire phone. I can easily take my screen and use very little force and take the entire screen and lcd off. I concluded that this was due to very cheap glue used to glue the screen back onto the phone. I am bringing my phone back in with the hopes of having the warranty cover the issues, but I doubt they will. The whole situation could have been avoidable had I went to Apple or even some other phone repair company. I paid around $120 for the repair, and the money has completely gone to waste. And so I repeat, never use Gadgetworks. read more

Had an iPhone screen repaired in April. Screen popped 2 weeks later which they repaired. 2 weeks later the screen popped again - this time slightly but enough that when I used it, it cracked. Gadgetworks would not replace it and wanted to charge me another $75. They told me the case was bent which was why the screen popped. Why, then did they replace it in the first and then second place? Quite sure I would have better service with Apple - even if a little more expensive. read more

We have taken in 3 different items and got great service and advice every time. Ermin removed broken pieces of rice from my wife's dried out iphone 5 and charged us nothing. They replaced a broken ipad screen for a great price. They advised me to NOT repair a broken Kindle screen, since I could buy a used Kindle for less than the repair would cost. They are open and available in the Glen and I am sending all my friends there. The service is great. read more

I can't believe how fast they proposed a solution and then at a more than fair price made the needed repair. It has been over a month with no issues at all with the their workmanship. I took my Iphone 5s into the store to get the screen replaced. Although I was skeptic at first about how much it was going to cost I did some extra research and saw that they were charging the same if not lower than any other store. The technician originally messed up the repair but told me that I had a 90 day warranty if anything started acting funny. When I brought it back, the repair team was sincerely apologetic and redid the repair free of charge and without any fuss. I will definitely be coming back to this store when I need a repair done. read more

Went to Gadget Works on a blind tip after my malfunctioning (uninsured) Galaxy S5 was turned away from Geek Squad at Best Buy. The tech guy, Prashant, was extraordinarily helpful as well as knowledgeable in explaining what the problem was & what he could do to fix it. Not only competent, I felt he was very ethical in letting me know up front any forseeable issues that might come up during the repair and how he would handle them if necessary. I've had 2 wonderful experiences with this place when I was in desperate times. These guys are basically tech heroes! First experience My iPhone 5 needed power button fix and battery replacement. Was a bit shy my first time and came in around closing time to avoid many people. Although it took awhile, the owner Prashant was so dedicated he stayed past closing time to ensure my phone was perfect! The second time I was helped by a wonderful representative by the name of Amado Hernandez. I came in hoping to trade two laptops and walk out with a new one. I did get good in store credit value, but it wasn't enough to purchase on there. He went ahead and called the shop in Evanston to transfer one and it came fast! I came back on another day and walked out with a new macbook :) Gadgetworks is now my go to place whenever I need assistance! read more

If I could give these people zero stars I would. Got my screen fixed here twice and both times it was terrible. They do a fine job of fixing it but then all your problems start. The first time I went and got my phone fixed my phone button stopped working and my screen would bug out. I went in to get it fixed and they said they got a "bad batch" of phone screens and would fix it immediately. My phone never worked completely the same after that. A few years later I went in with a different phone and got the screen fixed. I got it back after an hour and then my screen began to bug out again. A couple days later my phone stopped working completely and I couldn't touch anything on my screen! I went in a few hours before closing and they told me AGAIN that they got a "bad batch" of screens and then they said they wouldn't have enough time to fix it and stared at me until I finally agreed to bring it in the next day so they wouldn't have to stay ten minutes late. DO NOT GO HERE! There are other places with the same price that will do a better job. read more

I shattered my iphone a little over 6 months ago, went here and got it repaired. It looked fined and I was happy. A week after I noticed that the top left corner of the screen was becoming detached, I took it back and they fixed it free of charge. A week after the same thing started happening again, I didn't have time to go and have it replaced again so I left it and used a protective case to hold the glass in place. A couple weeks ago I noticed the back flashlight on my phone wasn't working, so I took it to the apple store to get it looked at. They said that whoever had replaced the screen on my phone had taken out necessary parts of my phone, like certain screws and such and it was causing the problems my phone had. I was literally missing parts of my phone. My screen has continued to detach from the phone, to the point where it is mostly more off than on. At this point the only thing I can do it replace my phone. Overall I am VERY dissatisfied and would never go back. read more
