Picked up small cannolis for a party tonight. Didn't think my regular bakery made small cannolis. Have you ever tried to cut a normal size cannoli? This is where the price factors in. I went in to order cupcakes and explained exactly what I wanted. The young man that assisted me said fine no problem took a picture of my order. When I went to pick up my order it was not at all what I asked for. It looked like a jr baker had made it. When I asked the woman at the counter if he could fix it trying to make the best of a bad situation which would have required 5 short stripes of frosting Guy started yelling from the backroom that he was to busy and didn't have time for this. He wouldn't even come out and talk to me. He was so rude and nasty I couldn't believe it. THIS "GUY" DOESNT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT PEOPLE LET ALONE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Going to Gaetanos has become quite the family affair, and it feels like visiting your Italian grandfather; he's a very kind and patient man who loves the kids, and they love him. From giving them toys to sitting down and eating calzones and getting Easter cookies, you get North End quality in the Metro West area. I stumbled on this bakery by accident. I was coming out of a nearby parking lot and saw the sign. Always looking for good bakeries, I tried some cookies a few days later. About a month later, I ordered apple dumplings for my family for Thanksgiving. They were a huge hit! I ordered a blueberry pie and received a custard pie as well. They are unbelievable! My mouth is so happy! I'm happy I ordered more pies to pick up in a couple of weeks! Not only is the food delicious, but the service is equally good. Friendly, courteous and smiles when I walk in. To start the only person in the place was a bored and uninformed teenager. Everything house baked was overcooked . The famous pistachio cookies were so over baked they had to cover them with tons of powdered sugar to even sell them. The tiramisu was old and basically whipped cream and one layer of stale lady finger. the run baba was dry and inedible. Cannoli was limp and sat for too long. Absolutely horrible. The child running the front looked like he was high and couldn't even focus on what I was asking. When I asked for zeppole he 1. Looked confused 2. Asked if I need them......that is why I'm there 3. went in the back and boxed it up and this is what I got (see photo below). Then there was a minimum credit charge of $10, so I asked what the most popular cookies were and the kid couldn't tell me. So I ended up spending more than I even initially wanted to. To get week old fake Zeppole. Never in my life have I ever even a more disgusting looking Zeppole and poorer customer service. Never going out of my way to go here ever again. I love this bakery so much. We celebrate birthdays monthly at work and get our cake from here every time. Everyone looks forward to cake day. They are so delicious and beautiful. The guy that runs the bakery always takes care of us and goes above and beyond- even on short notice. It's really cool to see the pride he puts in each cake. We got a strawberries and cream cakes yesterday and almost everyone had two slices it was so good. I've never had a bad experience. All of the other treats are also delicious. 5 stars just doesn't seem to be enough for the perfection they delivered! Gaetano's made our wedding cake for our September rustic themed wedding. I had little preferences with the exception that I wanted sunflowers. After a couple of meetings and very little direction from us, the cake was PERFECT! They went above and beyond to make our picture perfect cake. It was delivered right on time without a single issue. I heard the owner say "don't answer the phone, this person has called several times and won't give up". If you don't want people calling your business, don't have a business. Placed order several weeks before Christmas ! My husband Picked up our order Christmas Eve and it was completely wrong . Called the bakery and was asked to bring order back( thought this was odd due to Covid) but brought it back anyway. The original order was a large tray of pastries and cookies. I receive just a tray of cookies. When my husband brought back the tray he was given a hard time and told that's what I had ordered even though they had a slip with all the information on it with what I originally ordered. They did redo a tray with some Pastries but very few and not a variety that it was supposed to be as well as cookies. The tray they redid was half the size of what I ordered originally and paid for. Just the fact that We had to go there twice on such a busy day was upsetting and then to be questioned and told I was wrong was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this Bakery. read more
