Frank's Pizza is located in my favorite shopping center, and I often wonder why we don't visit more often. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted warmly, and everyone is very friendly. Tonight, I went back to basics with a Greek salad and Hawaiian pizza topped with jalapeños. Wow, there must be something special in the dough because it's perfect--crispy and cooked to perfection. The Greek salad was fresh, with the highlight being the Greek black olives. I feel a little embarrassed that we don't come here more often, but that's going to change starting tonight. Where do I start...? Used to love this place and would frequently come here however after today I will not be returning... after saying it was going to be 40 min wait for Togo orders I decided to just walk around the shopping center til it was ready.. big mistake.. I get they were busy but for the quality and customer service today were a 0/10.. Got my pizza order wrong and they didn't check before they gave it to me was missing toppings... I called since I didn't see until I was already home and when I did she said she would refund me for the pizza and that she didn't "need the money"... I wish she would've refunded my entire order by the time I opened my questionable wings and COLD mozzarella sticks I was already off the phone because I thought that comment was rude .. before that she wanted me to COME BACK and pick up a new pizza ... ridiculous ... adding some pics to see the hard texture of cheese after biting into a cheese stick .. they tasted old or maybe not even cooked all the way.. also included is one of the "wings" or whatever gross piece of meat this was... I don't get why they would even send this out.. gross.. anyways won't be coming back and clearly they "don't need " the business from me anyways. read more

This is a great place to go in La Mesa for quality things sliced NY style pizza. When I picked up the pizza I could tell the crust was very light and I was not disappointed when I opened the lid and it was a thin and foldable pizza with good toppings and the right amount of cheese and sauce. Been coming here for a few years now, I think I have a decent feel for the menu and would then give it a 4 star rating for consistency, quality, and service. Today I had the Italian Bronx Bomber 6" sandwich and a cold beer - Golden Road Mango Cart. The sandwich was good, toasted, served on a fresh roll, meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato slathered in Italian dressing. A little messy but worth it. I like the menu, diverse but not too much, with only a few choices in each category, I haven't tasted them all but what I have are each tasty. We have been going to Frank's for years and really like the pizza. It's a lowkey neighborhood kind of place. Nothing fancy but good pizza. Tonight we showed up and sat at an empty table. The waitress came over and said they were slammed and it might be 45 min wait. We said that was Ok. We intended to have a beer and jus. Hill after work. We said we would order but the waitress said "you can.....but. We said, "it seems you want us to leave and she didn't say anything. Weirdest experience ima restaurant. We ordered a medium pizza for takeout. Wanting something vegan, we ordered their "Veggitano", without cheese. I arrived within their 15-20 min window and it was waiting for me. After the short 6-minute drive home we discovered that what was in the box was barely warm. And no sauce! The veggies on top were lightly scattered, few and far between. This was a very pitiful dinner for the two of us, even after warming up a can of tomato sauce to supplement what they had prepared. Is there something going on? I really wanted to like Franks but, after 4 attempts, I think that's it's just ok pizza. Not great. Not terrible. The interior of the store is nice. They obviously put a lot of effort into the store's appearance. The service can be either great or frustrating. It's all walk up service but they seem a bit disorganized behind the counter. Pizza-wise -- the quality is hit or miss. Mostly miss. The cheese is good quality and the sauce is made from scratch but doesn't quite make it. It's good but needs salt and a little garlic. It's also on the sweet side which doesn't do the pizza justice. Another thing I've found is they don't out enough sauce on their pizza. Their crust needs more sauce because they don't oil the dough. I've gotten the standard (pepperoni & sausage) and i can tell you that the sausage isn't that great. It wants to be good but they don't put enough on the pizza, it isn't greasy, seemed bloated with saltwater and rubbery... The pepperoni is standard pepperoni. Flavorful and greasy. The crust is made from scratch and buttery but twice I've gotten it and it's been under baked. Not totally raw but it was soggy and had that underbaked, raw dough aftertaste on a few slices... read more

The 2 topping and the wings were just fine, honestly the wings were above average. The margarita pizza was terrible. The picture on Postmates that shows several of their pizzas shows the margarita pizza having whole basil leaves and large melted chunks of mozzarella. What we received bears zero resemblance to that. It was the epitome of a lazy margarita pizza. Sliced tomatoes, some sort of basil garlic smear that was waaaay too garlic heavy on a regular cheese pizza. Pretty gross. The pizza is pretty good, but when you call to place a large order and get a quote several days before and then call to place the order that don't know what they are talking about and quoted me $100 for a salad for 22 people. Hmmm... and so they lost my very large order of pizzas and she didn't even care.. she hung up on me. I don't think your pizza is that great... I will get a costco salad and call it a day! A local hole in the wall. Our neighbor recommended it us years ago, but we finally tried it! Sad it took us this long. We were missing out. Portions are generous, and fair prices. Employees are kind! Okay, this place has been here for like 9 years and I've never been here. But I came for a quick lunch special (available until 2pm). You can get 2 slices of pizza and a drink a slice, salad, and drink A 6" sub chips and a drink for $8.95!!! Let me also say the slices are generous. I'd take a picture and post but it's all gone! It comes out to a little over $10 with tax and everything. But for New York style pizza ( in California) this was amazing. The customer service is run by two young ladies and they get it. So many times people can't be bothered to interact or are too busy on their phones to be genuine, but here the girls were so friendly and courteous.
