I called in for to go order. I love good calzone!! I've tried their pizza, spaghetti, and lasagna before and they are sooo good!! I've never tried the calzone so I order #1 calzone with all the cheese. I think it has ricotta and mozzarella. Do you see the size of sauce they gave us? I love my clazone saucy and cheesy and this gives me BOTH!! OMG!! I thought my daughter and I can save some for later, but sadly it was all gone. The marinara sauce is sooo good pair with cheesy calzone equals to a perfect girl dinner!! The place is small but smells so good!! You can tell that they are constantly making pizza.. I think we've been a customer for 10 years? I think. We got hooked on the pizza... and now the calzone. It's so worth it!! $15 and some change and it feeds 3 people. Yes, sadly I shared with the daughter and the bf (who bought McDonald's). But who can resist D'Amatos Pizza? They are that good!! read more

used Door Dash credit my Daughter gave me for Fathers Day to buy food for my Anniversary, 1st. time for D'Amato's, lived with in 3 miles for 31 years and never ate there, now i can say i have and it was wonderful, Lasagna was delicious, wife's Ravioli was spot on, salads bread perfect. I ordered the family deal.. specifying 3 times on the phone no meat sauce.. we got meat sauce.. the spaghetti sauce was VERY watered down .. The manicotti sauce was no where near what it use to be.. This is my go to pizza place here in La Mesa. Absolutely the best around! It's a small carry out or delivery restaurant right next to Baskin Robbins. I normally just have it delivered. This place SUX!!!!!! The rep spoke like he was on cracc! I could not understand a word he said. He never asked me how much I would like to tip my driver. He just assumed I was tipping $2.00! When my driver arrived, I had to ask what amount he was tipped via my card. That's never okay! The CSR kept putting me on hold as well. Pizza is delicious. I will say if you're not a fan of cheese, maybe let them know to use light cheese. They add cheese on top of the toppings. Personally, one of my favorite parts, but not everyone is like me... for example my husband thinks it a little much. read more

Everytime I order for pick-up the order is 15 to 20 minutes later than the time I was told to pick up the order. I will not say that is the worse part. Tonight I placed an order and of course I had to wait per usual. I was charged and told to come back in 5 to 10 minutes. I come back 15 minutes later only to be completed ignored by the girl at the register absolutely rude and unpleasant. This place is getting a reputation for their rude employees and terrible customer service. As someone quite familiar with customer service the employees do not make the cut. Someone should train the employees in proper customer service and after all of that the pizzas were burnt The Pizza tasted like a cracker. I will take my business elsewhere and you should too. read more

While we were visiting family, we had D'Amatos Pizza delivered for dinner. Ooooh my goodness!! This was sooooo delicious!! We had ordered sausage and mushrooms. I wanted to add extra cheese but I was told they were very generous with their cheese!! WOWZA!! They were correct!! Basic pizza ordered but D'Amatos made our pizza with perfection! Overall Terrible... They barely drain the spaghetti so it's sitting in water till I get home and drain it. The salad that is included with the dinner is a joke... total throw away. It's evident when I go inside to pick up my food that it's run by adolescents and things like professionalism & decorum are a foreign concept. Sadly, cleanliness is also nonexistent. read more

Ordered a TBA 6" sandwich thru Grubhub. Plenty of turkey, crispy bacon, and a little skimpy on the avocado. Which is pretty understandable given the price of avocados right now. This place is great and the staff is very nice. $2.30 for a big slice of pizza. The lasagna is amazing. Cheesy, meaty, and covered in sauce. It comes with a whole baguette of garlic bread and a side salad! You could definitely split it. Real Parmesan cheese on the side (not those little packages). Great price and great food. read more

Eh. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and were told over the phone it would be an hour. No problem. Got there an hour later and the girl at the counter said it would be a few more minutes. Waited another 10-15 and got our food which was cold. Husband loved the food aside from the temperature so he will want it again but I wasn't impressed. Ordered 2 sandwiches over the phone. Pretty simple. Went in to pick up. Behind the counter the floor is absolutely filthy, lettuce tomatoes all over the floor, dirty mop bucket and mop just hanging there. They have a rack of potato chips right by the counter. Grabbed two bags to go with our sandwiches. Looked at the chip bag and it was out of date by a month !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuck Paid for my order got home and low and behold wrong order. Called and spoke to the girl and explained my order was wrong. Her reply "well what do you want me to do" ? I said I would like the sandwiches I ordered. She said I could come and get them. GREAT !!!!! Asked for the manager. Explained again Her reply "These things happen, We are really busy" , Mind you when I picked up the order there was no one in the place. Asked for my order to be delivered due to the error on their part. Her reply "Only if you are in our delivery area". Wow Great customer service !!!!!!!! I worked there and its hard work and its no joke... the food is amazing and its a community treasure that is bound to the appetite of la mesa. The workers are pushed to their limits at time but thats the business... still its a small mom n pop takeout pizza place that is a constant reminder to La Mesa that their is only one style of pizza that is still undeniably the best whether its a 1 hour or 3 hour pickup time or a pizza you didn't order and mess ups happen (btw were all human and make mistakes and trust me we learned from them) D'Amatos pizza is still the GOAT. UNDENIABLY. You dont like quality go stick to Lil Cesars. Go ahead call Domino's I heard they hire "real" cooks for their "real" pizza. I've been ordering from D'Amatos for a few years and always received great food. The last time I got burnt pizza. This time I ordered the family deal. The Spaghetti didn't have any sauce on top, the lasagna was in a watery soup and the pizza wasn't anything special either. I called and asked if there was a new owner, and I was assured there wasn't. I used to recommend this place to family and friends but that won't happen again. Time to find a new go to place for Italian food. read more

I normally order delivery, but they said they couldn't deliver for lunch, only after 3:00 pm. This is a change I hadn't anticipated. I asked if I could pick up and they said that I would have to wear a mask if I were to just pop in to pick up my food. I don't participate in the mask thing. I won't be eating here now OR after this "pandemic" is over with. Good luck. read more
