THEY WILL SUE YOU! With the worst customer service ever - I was forced to place an online order for over $20k which always makes me nervous. I successfully placed the order for gold coins that never arrived. I was out of town for an extended period of time (5 weeks) but paid with my VISA card (I had done business with them before so they knew me). The VISA was BILLED (and subsequently refunded within a few days). Somebody with NO CONTACT INFORMATION WHATSOEVER sent me an email giving me 1 day to reply to get back to them. I did. That "individual" didn't reply back to me and THEN ---- They never shipped my order and proceeded to send me a LEGAL NOTICE CLAIMING I OWED THEM a ridiculous 5% fee (like over $1800 FEE - yes $1800 and NO GOLD) for breach of "contract". Despite several attempts to call them. they NEVER called me back. A paralegal sent me a warning which I replied to immediately without any reply back. A few weeks later a "lawyer" sent me a letter who I contacted for a detailed explanation. She was TOTALLY unprofessional (hung up on me despite my professional nature with her). Terrible customer service!!! Placed an order 3 months ago that never showed up. I was told they would have to investigate the matter and it would take about a month. Here I am 3 months later and can't get any kind of answer from them about what they are going to do about my order. I've been told I would get an email about the investigation, that never happened... I was going to order one item but instead I ordered two and tried to cancel a gold coin I ordered five minutes earlier. They said there would be a 5% cancellation charge and despite being a prior customer they just cited the cancellation policy and then we're rude enough to hang up on me. The product is misleading. Order a 10 oz poured trident bar, and looks nothing like the picture shown and the brand new bar had noticable damage on the front. The bar is more flat with yellow writing. They take forever to ship out the items you order. I also bought a kilo pamp bar which they said was in stock which it wasn't. They were selling them before they even had them in stock. They were supposed to get them on a specific date and they never arrived. I had to wait a month and a half for them to ship out my order. This company needs to get there stuff together, they'll horrible and will not buy again. This was my first and last time I order through them. It doesn't take 5 days to get a order shipped out. I've ordered from other places and they ship the same day or the next day depending on what time you place the order. Gainesville coins had horrible business leadership. Hire more people in the shipping department and put up the right product so people know what there getting. I would return the 10 oz but it would probably take another month or so to get a new one. This was my first purchase through Gainesville Coins and it will be my last. I ordered a variety of different silver coins including both generic and government minted coins. All of the generic coins that i ordered including some of their exclusive generics were in poor condition with scratches and scuffs. I would expect this if i was buying junk silver but i was purchasing 2015 bullion that should have little to no wear. Most of the government coins were just in OK condition not perfect. I have only purchased coins at their retail shop in Lutz, FL. It is a beautiful showroom. Like a fancy showroom in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, they don't carry most of the products you see on the website in the showroom. The coins in the showroom are the slow moving coins transferred from their mail order operation in the building for disposal direct to the public. Many different generic silver bullion coins and bars of all sizes, and a few government mint coins like special Canadian Maple Leafs, British Silver Britannia, Silver Pandas, etc. are found there today along with special collector coin issues. You can order bullion coins like US Silver Eagles, Maple Leafs, Gold coins, etc for pickup but it will take 5-7 days to process so no same day pickups are available. The staff is very friendly, one even borrowed a 2014 Silver Maple leaf from the shipping room so I could see the new design. I decided against it in a future order because the finish is not very clean. Discoloration spots in the background. The negative reviews are interesting. I can understand shipping errors because they have happened to me from other companies. Keep in mind this is not a consumer products store where the customer is always right and the product has a fixed production price all year long. The customer must follow legal contract rules. This is a currency trading operation where you exchange paper dollars for silver or gold "dollars". The price changes by the minute over the spot market price worldwide. The profit margins appear to be less than 7.5% over cost. It is easy to lose money on each transaction if prices are falling rapidly due to buying stock at a higher price days before. They have to make it up when prices are rising sharply. They are hyper vigilant to prevent fraud both in person and over the phone because the number of criminals trying to steal their money are countless. A single loss can be thousands of dollars eating up all profit for many days. There is an armed guard present in the showroom, a county deputy with his official sheriffs department car outside and radios inside the showroom. Availability of bullion coins is getting very difficult for buyers nationwide. Most of the bullion dealers in Florida are out of stock and must wait 2, 3, even 4 weeks for delivery. Demand is far greater than the market spot prices would indicate. Ebay is selling every coin listed at 10% or more over GC's prices. If the US currency destabilizes even a little, you will not be able to buy anything in the future. Dealers in Orlando have already started spread sheet waiting lists. The US and Canadian Mints are maxed out with production and it is only a question of time before stockpiles of some metals will be exhausted. The only way to stimulate new mines is higher prices to offset production costs. I am a private individual who waited too long to start collecting. The know how takes some effort. Things like sales tax free purchases on buys over $500. I didn't know. Which coins are going to be easy to resell. I checked Ebay and watched what sells. When to buy. I've tried to order from Gainesville Coins four times. Only one of them succeeded, which was a smaller silver purchase ($2200). The three other times, my credit card would not be accepted as collateral. Which is rather bizarre, as APMEX has no problems with it. Two of the times I actually called customer service to try to get this resolved (yes, Gainesville does have the lowest prices and I would have saved $ 200 vs APMEX on my order, so I tried again). Together with a sales person on the line, I tried using three different international credit cards to lock in the price of the order, none of them which got accepted. The person I spoke to could not give any explanation, other that "there had to be a problem with the bank". I think I explained to the person three times that the cards were with three different banks, and that they all worked fine with APMEX. Eventually, I just had to give up, having wasted about one hour on an international call. Most frustrating, I don't think the sales person reported any problem with Gainesville's proprietary system at all, I got the impression that she did not care. I have dealt with Gainesville Coins for a few years now, dealing in amounts ranging from $5-30,000, so we're not exactly strangers. In the past, their delivery time have not been excellent (next day shipping), but they are usually reasonable. About 11-12 days ago, I placed an order for 5 ea 2019 Gold Eagles; today, they told me shipping would probably be next Friday (total of 21-21 days after order) because they were busier than usual. You're doing more business, making more money, decide whether it would be better to hire part-time help to fill in or to have owners/managers/salaried people work a bit of overtime to give customer service. glad i didn't read the bad reviews until AFTER i ordered....they might have kept me from doing so. i ordered a fairly large amount of silver, as well as some of the harley ingots. bank wire was smooth, and the order shipped about a week before the estimated ship date. it was well packed (yeah, a ton of tape, but so what? it was a 15lb box!), and the silver was in great condition. the sunshine mint bars came in sealed sheets, and the harley bars were in decent condition (a bit tarnished, but they were not sealed by the mint, and were made quite a few years ago). they came with the coa's. altogether, it was a great buying experience, i am very satisfied with my purchase, and will definitely be buying from them again. read more

I made a purchase of 60 Troy ounces of silver couple of days ago and paid with a card. I get a phone call to confirm my transaction and went very smooth. I was exited for my purchase and I was waiting to receive my billions. I checked with the bank and the purchase went through smoothly. There was no issue on my side. After 5 days of my purchase I receive an email saying "This email is in regard to order 360434. Unfortunately your credit card did not pass the verification by our security department and we have cancelled this purchase. We will be refunding your card for the full amount. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." I was kinda shocked. I went to the bank to see if there was any restriction on my account but no everything seemed fine on my end. I locked the price when silver was 15.20 and before receiving this email silver went up to 15.86. I contacted them and they were telling me bunch of lies that they can't do anything about it and I can no longer make business with them. This was kinda rude so I asked for a supervisor or owner to know more why this purchase is not going through. A lady answered the phone and asked about my name. I said this is me speaking and her response was even worse. She just simply said sorry we can not give you any information and just hang up. I'm like wow. I just completed a transaction with Gainesville Coins and was very satisfied. I purchased two 10oz silver bars and a half oz proof gold round. I was told there was going to be a week wait until they were shipped, but I received them five days later. They were all in perfect condition. I did get a confirmation email and tracking information by email. I could tell the order-person on the phone was not anything close to a coin expert, but she did accurately detail my order. I did not see these reviews prior to purchase but was surprised to see so many displeased customers. I probably would not have purchased if I did read them. I cannot deny those respondents experiences, or conclude there is possible hyperbole being touted. I can only say my one & only experience was very good. I would note that the pics on the site are stock photos (as they say), so I would be more concerned as far as purchasing collector type coins as opposed to Bullion. I expect that most people with bad experiences tend to make reviews; but a company should be judged by how they deal with problem orders. I have visited Gainesville Coins four times in the last seven months. They were recommended to me by one of Tampa's most respected jewelry stores as the best place to buy or sell gold and silver. While I was a taken aback the first time I went in by the high security presence at all times, I now understand the need for heightened security in their business. I have found them to be very thorough, very detailed and honest in their business. I have both bought and sold coins through them. They scrutinize every coin and every transaction, but I do not object to that at all. From reading other reviews, maybe some of the employees could use a little training in customer courtesy and friendliness - but they are knowledgeable. I ordered a 100th Anniversary 1/10 Gold Mercury Dime, PCGS SP70 First Strike dime and added a footnote to please include the OGP. I will confess, Gainesville Coin was one of the first to offer the coin and at a competitive price. The coin arrived in the time frame they stated, however, there was no inclusion of the OGP. On the packing slip, in big red letters was stamped PLEASE INCLUDE OGP. I called Gainesville Coins requesting the OGP. The lady at Gainesville did not know what OGP meant and told me she would have to get back to me. The next day she sent an email, calling me by an incorrect name and gave me an incorrect description of the coin I purchased, calling it an NGC product. She stated that Gainesville Coins buys the graded coins in bullk and never receive any packaging. I feel very fortunate having even received the coin at all. My first experience with Gainesville Coins has left me without much confidence in their knowledge and expertise. read more
