Martini and whiskey sour. So good
    Danielle Y.

My favorite bar of all time! The cocktails are amazing. I always order a whiskey sour. After coming here whiskey sours at any other bar do not taste the same! They don't even come close. So exquisitely crafted. Yagi-san is the most amazing legendary bartender. The bar itself is low key and relaxing. But the people here are the best part. Every single person here is full of joy and laughter. You will not find this kind of vibe or drinks anywhere else. I almost don't want to write this review so that this place doesn't get too popular. The best of the best !!!! Thank you Yagi-San and the rest of the Gaku bar fam!

Classic Japanese bar and lounge tucked away in an unassuming strip mall. Made an amazing highball, Manhattan, whiskey sour. The bartender is extremely respectful and amazing at his craft highly recommend

    Dirty martini, acidic

Wow what a memorable and great experience I had here, thank you to the wonderful bartender that was serving. I am absolutely grateful my friends and I walked here looking for a bar on a weeknight. This is a Japanese style bar, different than your regular bar this a lounge that is great for a quality detailed than your normal cocktail and the ambiance is awesome for socializing or going on a date or to come have a drink yourself. Will make the greatest drink to your absolute liking at your preference. Very kind, friendly, and attentive staff, once again thank you very much.

Japanese hostess bar. Ambiance was inviting, and the Gin and Tonic was a standout. Bar charge begins at $10 for the first hour, followed by $5 for each subsequent hour. Overall, a distinctive experience worth trying.

Great bar with a fantastic ambiance, reminds me of cocktail bars in Japan. The highballs here are fantastic and I would highly recommend!

You can taste the love in each drink. I recommend the lychee martini and the espresso martini.

The best drinks in town and nice service. The place could use some remodeling though, the carpet needs to be changed and walls painted.

It is ever so comfortable and the bartenders and all of the staff are great. You will love it. They have these sweet cocktails like something you would get in Hawaii. Be careful, don't drink too much of them or a nasty hangover you will have. They have regular cocktails as well and some nice sodas. You will love the way the Hula Hula Room is decorated. It is just an escape from LA life. It is only open until midnight so keep that in mind. It can get crowded and I don't think they take reservations. Call them and ask. Oh, and you can have a wee sample of the cocktail before you order it. I have not had them all. I don't drink much. But this place is a great time.

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

Small parking lot that may park about 5 cars and watch the street signs for parking. Pool table & full service bar. Mostly bar seating with a banquette along one wall. What made this bar cool is Sandra, la Reina de Moctezuma as she refers to herself. Breezy, lively, nonchalante, a bit coquettish to the "right guy", socially charming to her other guests. She creates her own story line to create her aura & drama. Author John Rechy, if he were straight, would have featured Miz Sandra in one of his novels like the City of Night. Ordered a pint of Guinness & Harp combination, but I didn't call it a "black & tan" in an Irish pub for historical reasons. But Sandra told me they don't have Harp, and suggested I do a Snake Bite instead which is half Guinness & Hard Cider. I opted for just Guinness since I wasn't in an experimental mood. Later, she was kind enough to let me sample a shot of the Strong Bow Hard Cider which was smooth, sweet, acidic with actual sour apple flavour. Next time I'll have to order the Snake Bite. Don't know how exactly Irish Sly Fox is with its grunge-garage rock music. But it's a good, unpretentious, local hang out. And of course, there's Sandra, la Reina de Moctezuma who is worth the visit. 4- stars
