Well . . …read more My first visit to the new Ambrosia location was after moving back to the area a few months ago, and my short bob needed a cut. Loved the easy-peasy online booking and since I wasn't anyone's client yet, I just scheduled by who was available. The front desk reception is delightful - welcoming and helpful. I liked the low key atmosphere, no hard sell on retail products, and the location with plenty of parking. I did not like being taken to the shampoo chair before taking my jacket off, and leaving it on the floor with my bag, getting dripped on. Anyway, that first cut was a good length - but - each side was styled different from the other. One side had feathery layers, the other side was a straight cut bob. It was cleverly blended, and I didn't see the difference until I washed and tried to style it myself. Live & learn, everyone is new and has to learn, right? So the next time, I made an appointment with a different stylist. It was going well from the first - I dropped my bag off at the chair, explained what I was looking for (please fix the sides so they're the same , or as close as they can be), and what I didn't want (please don't follow the cut I have, it's not done as I requested) and even had pictures of my hair cut correctly in days gone by. We were so much in agreement, it seemed all too easy! Of course, a day later after I washed and blew it dry myself, I somehow now had feathery bits on the opposite side and a close-to-straight bob on what was the original feathery side. So disappointing. Three tries is usually my limit when going to a new stylist, but I have to give up at this point and just grow both sides out out and keep bringing my hair pictures with me, looking for a stylist. I found Nails From The Heart on Yelp and called for an appointment. She was booked for the day but had a 9:00 a.m. appointment today which I took. She did an excellent job on my French manicure. I didn't want gel because my nails are long, thick and healthy. She asked me about the length and i told her I liked the length, she didn't take any off, she actually listened to me. I had previously been a smoker so my nails were discolored, she buffed them all out and I now have nice white nails to go with my healthy lungs. She did a beautiful freelance painting of the French manicure and I left there very happy. She is so personable and kind. I can't wait to go back for my pedicure. It was refreshing to be in a salon where you felt welcomed, not rushed and was able to communicate with the specialist. I highly recommend Penny. Thanks Penny!
