Cluttered shop, sloppy work, and three wasted trips. I brought my PS5 in for a USB port fix, and one time he said it was done but was still finishing it when I walked in. After all that, both USB ports ended up dead and he claimed the IC chip had failed -- something that wasn't an issue before. He refunded the $50 for the port, but I still paid for the cleaning and lost a ton of time. Taking it somewhere competent. Don't take your PS5 there! It'll come back worse. read more

The fix was quick. He was really polite, and ready to work with me on drop-off/pick-up times. He gave it a complimentary clean which was really nice, and the repairs were worth the $200. I brought Frank a corroded ECU that was not functional and no longer available. There was also a broken pin which required desoldering the pin assembly from a donor ECU and installing it into the original PCB. When finished we installed in the car and functioned like new. Thanks Frank read more

Communication was very poor, I had to reach out multiple times and never got call or messages back unless I called back. Got the computer back, now I can't even log into my computer because my keyboard is now having problems when I never had issues with that prior, also I have marks on my screen that I'm unable to remove no matter how much I clean it. Didn't spend a lot compared to what I potentially could have spent, but not worth my time or money now that I have to take it somewhere else to fix it again. read more

Helpful and honest!!! Brought my laptop in because one of the usb-c ports stopped working and I needed a quick fix due to an upcoming business trip. He quoted me $300+ to fix and explained he would have to take the laptop apart, etc.(totally reasonable). However, he ended up finding a cheaper solution for me, which was buying a small adapter for $20 that worked in the usb-c! This isn't a long-term solution but it saved me for my work trip and I can use this until I buy a new one. read more

I am so grateful for businesses like this and they seem rare these days. Someone who knows their craft and provides a great service at a reasonable rate. Wait - he is even super close to where I live, has reasonable hours and is lovely to deal with?? WHOA... Months ago...okay, it was last year...shut it... the fan on my laptop died giving me the blue screen of, "No really...fix this". My live in computer guru was no longer living with me and I was now on my own. So, back in the day I was great building PCs but I am not a laptop pro - I can turn the thing on and off and claim nothing else in knowledge. Growing up building computers with my day, teaching them and all sorts of in between - I can tell you that computer people can be a bit extra and I was dreading dealing with some jackhole overcharging me and then having me pay someone to talk down to me or just cause me a bunch of unnecessary drama. I just want easy...seriously, just fix it, charge me, done... I called a few places and several people managed to annoy me in less than a minute... you know when you can taste the attitude problem? And then Frank answered. Friendly, flexible and confident...but, is this guy real? Sure enough - even with the virus climate he has his shop setup perfectly for safety of him and me. It took maybe five minutes of talking - the quote he gave me over the phone he and I both remembered and agreed to so he would order the part which might take a touch more time due to priority shipping from companies based on needs. He called to let me know the part was in and I promised to bring in my machine for the replacement - leave it a few hours and come get it the same day. I confess - my schedule is jacked up thanks to an awkward work schedule I am not used to so I was excessively late - I felt HORRIBLE and my laptop is my everything I use for everything so he at first asked if I could leave it overnight. Unfortunately though I had to go into work at dawn so I made a face probably. This guy then said he would get it done pronto... I honestly would have totally just rescheduled and come back but he not only did it but got it done early. He expressed he was pretty amazed that it had not overheated since the fan had clearly been out of commission for quite some time. He also made recommendations for a future upgrade which I will probably jump on. I certainly will always take my machine to him. I cannot stress the importance to work with someone like Frank for me. I am a super busy person, like a lot of us! I try to avoid conflicts or making things more challenging and just having things run smoothly. It honestly gives me a piece of mind knowing that if anything happens with my laptop I can go to a guy right down the street and get it repaired or replaced! For starters, it took them more than a MONTH to let me know I could pick up the laptop (BECUASE I EMAILED THEM) and they pretty much did nothing. They were authorized from the get go to get it fully repaired; but they waited 1 month+ to tell me it couldn't be repaired. When I insisted, he told me it was "too much trouble - you're better off buying a new one." Highly recommend Galactic Computers for computer repair! I took my 10-year old Macbook Air in because it wouldn't turn on. The gentleman charged $50 for a diagnosis. Honestly, I was nervous about leaving my computer, but I'm glad I did. The next day he called to give me the sad news that the motherboard needed to be replaced or alternatively he could put all the data onto an exterior drive. I told him I wasn't in a hurry, and wanted the motherboard replaced. He ordered the new one and replaced it within 4 days, and called me on a Sunday to say that it was fixed. Wish I had heard of this business much earlier. I had a home built computer from another computer shop ( I don't trust mass produced factory computers) that worked perfectly for many years but when it failed and wouldn't boot I found the builder was out of business. Fortunately, my nephew contacted me about Galactic Computers and came to find out that my hard drive was beyond repair. BEWARE!!! I replaced a bunch of parts and my PC would not boot. I emailed this 'business' about coming in and said in my original email that I wanted to wait for service not drop off and return. I got an email back saying come in Sat after 12 noon, so I arrived at 1230. After asking a few questions he said it would be $45 just to diagnose the problem. He indicated I was to drop off the computer and come back. I told him that when I emailed I clearly stated I wanted to wait for it. He then said well I can start on your computer right away but it will cost extra. Needless to say I left , but I wanted people to know this business does not honor their word and I wonder in what other ways are they not honest. A few months ago, my daughter's PC died (home-built by me with the help of a friend from work) and, because I'm not that great at trouble-shooting, I was at a loss ... I contacted some guy on Craigslist who wasted a week of my time and turned out to be a huge flake (CL, no surprise!). I finally had the sense to look in the phone book - Galactic Computers was just a few miles from my house, and seemed to be the type of place that "knew what they were doing" with home-built PCs. I called and talked to Frank, the owner, and took the computer in. Turns out the main hard drive had failed! Frank replaced it with the same kind, and got it restored so it worked like new. I checked the price of the hardware at Best Buy, and it was the same, but he charged me much less for labor than they would have, and I got my PC back 36 hours after having brought it in (most of that time was spent on loading "Windows 7 updates" into the HD). Whenever I have another PC problem, I'm coming back here because they charge a reasonable price and fix it quick. read more

CAUTION!!! SHADY BUSINESS!!! DON'T END UP LIKE ME!!! (I work on JSON and C++ so I know bit about computers) A while ago I was using my laptop at work when it started to shut off and would not finish a boot cycle. I took the laptop into Galactic Computers the next day during lunch. The owner said he would fix the problem for $150 flat, said it would take five days, not bad. Five days come and go and no call. Tried contacting him but would never answer the phone. Checked the website for the business hours and went by there on the sixth day around 10am - the guys business is closed! No sign, nothing. Called the number, and left a message. Next day he returns my message to say the laptop is ready for pickup. I go by after work, the guy is once again not in during business hours! I finally caught him the next morning to get my laptop back. I get it back to the office and yeah, the laptop will finish a boot cycle but now it will not hold a charge. The guy gave me my laptop back without checking it or accidentally broke something when fixing another part, though I think it might have been even worse than that. I left him a voice mail and took the computer back in the next day. The day after he calls me and says it will be another $150 to fix the laptop. It was then when a third thought accrued to me, he may have intentionally sabotaged the computer to make me bring it back in. I do believe this is the case as the laptop sat on my work desk for less than 24 hours when I had come back in about the persisting problem and he said on the phone that I must have been the one to break it. I had enough and said I would pick up the laptop and go somewhere else. Went the next day and guess what? That's right, the dude is closed again during his sites stated business hours! I was finally able to catch him in the morning to get my laptop back. So now I am out $150 and still have a broken laptop. Even if he did not intentionally sabotage the computer, it does not change the fact that he is at least very incompetent at his chosen profession in life. I'm from out of town and my laptop charging jack broke while I was here. My flight out was within a day, so I was on a bit of a time crunch, but needed my computer fixed ASAP. I called around to a few shops, but all of them either said they didn't have the ability to fix the problem I had, or that it would take up to a week to fix. When I called into Galactic, Frank told me to just bring my laptop in. While he wasn't able to fix my issue completely, he provided a temporary fix that worked until I arrived home and would have the time to get a complete fix. He did this at a very, very reasonable price and had my laptop ready the next day before my flight. He even offered his card so that if the repair shops back home needed help with the issue, he would be able to help.
