My only complaint is that my tire pressure warning lights came on when I drove home. So, I had to pull off the road to check the tire pressure and reset the electronic notification system. My catalytic converter was stolen.. again... and this time I had to pay out of pocket. This place was around the same exact prices as others that were quoted to me, however, it just happened to be the one more convenient for me, so I chose it. I hVe no regrets, because aside from being quick, the best part.was they were HONEST. Ceasar was the one I communicated with and he took me step by step and was truthful. I worked with A LOT of dealer/ autoshops and he just has this genuine attitude. My other honest spot was when I was living in Vallejo with AZN auto. Super great local shop in Oakland! I called the day before to get an estimate for my headlight BULB (only) replacement, and they told me to come by whenever. I had also called Firestone to get a quote, and they cited me $300(!!) for labor just to replace the bulb (WHAT?), which did NOT include the cost of the bulb itself. Anyways, I brought my car in and the whole process took less than 30 min. They replaced two bulbs for me (one headlight, one tail light), and I was out of there with a bill of LESS than $40. Came in for an alternator replacement. They quoted me for OEM, but the installed part didn't seem to be one. Not end of the world.. most mechanics dont use OEM unless you specify them to. Car is working as intended again, and there's a 3 years 36,000 miles warranty as well. Overall, mixed feelings about this. Galicia did provided more competitive quotes. Their work was good too (parts aside). The shop is also well kept and spacious compared to others. Will have to come back and see how I feel about this place. read more

I got my Mercedes car battery replaced here for literally one-third the price of the Mercedes dealership down the street. To be fair, other MB dealerships were cheaper than Oakland's for this service, but they were all at least 50% more expensive. For a battery?? Because of all of the electronics, the replacement battery needs to be programmed; otherwise, it won't work. MB warned me of this - which I appreciate- but if a third-party shop specializing in foreign cars cannot manage a battery, I'd imagine that few would be in business. I'd go back and give these folks more of my business. MB's dealership service is excellent, but it is also obscenely priced. read more

My 2022 Prius window stopped working. Galicia Auto repair was able to see me the next day, and offered an upfront phone quote of $180 labor to replace the regulator and motor (if needed). It turned out that the window had slipped off the tracks because of some missing bolts. On the plus side, they were honest and let me know that the regulator and motor did not need replacing, they figured out some bolts were missing holding the window to the regulator and fixed those bolts. However, they charged me the full $180 in labor despite not doing the labor to replace the regulator or motor since that full labor wasn't needed. I would have been more than happy to pay for their labor to fix the bolts, but it shouldn't have cost $180. Not cool. If you need immediate work, they can fit you in quickly which is great. They were honest and did not upsell me parts for a new regulator and motor. But to charge me the full labor cost for replacing the regulator and motor despite not doing the work is completely really wrong. read more

They also contacted me every day to give me an update on my order for a new catalytic converter as it can take several days to have it delivered. Not so long ago, I needed brakes. I found Galicia on Yelp. Timely response and was able to see me on a Saturday morning. Pulled in at 8AM, and Ricardo handled my issues right away. (And man, do I got issues.) He kept me informed but did not bug me. Ricardo also performed an oil change and multi-point inspection. He came in at the quoted price, which was a lot lower than a "name" service center. The location is great, on 28th Street just off Broadway. Easy to get to; brought my dog and we walked around downtown on a sunny day. I realize by giving a great review I may have to wait in line next time, but c'est la vie. I just found my new go to garage for all of my cars! Came with an urgent sunroof drain that was plugged and leaking into the interior. They took me in quickly and gave a very fair estimate. I asked them to take a look at my leaking rear main seal that I had been dealing with for over 10 years. Again... the estimate was extremely fair and lower than any other dealer or shop. All of the staff were incredibly sympathetic to my plight (they drilled through the key cylinder instead of breaking the window). They kept me updated on the part ordering, gave me two different options for the repair and were very clear with the timeline and the price of each option. No appointment required, either, though I called in advance to be sure there wasn't a long wait.
