I don't know where to begin but the mechanic( Mr. Shin?) was amazing. When you walk in to mechanic shop, you will always hear, "we will order parts and.." instead Mr.Shin heard my situation and looked into my car, He made parts with existing wires( cutting and bit of welding) and fixed all my chewed up wires in my engine. He only charged $150.00 I went to honda dealership and was estimated $2700.00 and it was done within 80 minutes. This was my very first time that I was truly thankful to a mechanic. read more

Shin Shin Shin!!!! Omg!! He is the BEST!!! I have an Audi A3 and he brought my baby all the way back to life! She was having coolant problems which led to other issues and he repaired all of it. As a foreign car owner, he came highly recommended! For all the work that he did and gave me a reasonable price. He is a no nonsense mechanic and he kept it real with me and was upfront and honest about all the repairs he did. I got my baby back and she runs like I just bought her off the showroom floor!!! Whoever picks up the phone here needs to learn some manners. I called to see whether they can mount a front license plate. My car was bought in Nevada so it didn't come with a front plate mount. I planned on buying one separately and getting it mounted at an auto shop. Told the guy that it's $80 at the dealership. He said "I know, go get it" and hung up. I just had my Mercedes C320 car serviced and Shin did an excellent job and even showed me the parts that he had replaced such as a hose that had turned brittle. Another problem I wanted fixed was my passenger seat which wouldn't move positions and needed a replacement module. Shin told me the part number and said I could save a lot of money by ordering the part on Amazon and he would then put it in. WOW, what good service that is!! I did what Shin suggested and then took my car back and Shin had the seat working in no time. My car is running fine now and I will definitely be taking it back to Shin when it needs it's next service. Shin really knows his stuff and is really super helpful, thank you Shin. read more

I am from out of town and broke down on the highway at the 580 split last week driving through Oakland...I looked down off the bridge and saw HK auto care..So we called and asked if they could help us..It was already very late(2pm) in the day and that I needed to be home by the next day so that my wife could make it to work...He said he would see what he could do... After waiting 3 hours for AAA..We finally had the car towed to the shop.It was about 5pm...David greeted us right away and looked at it and told me my Ball Joint had snapped off( I had thought it was my axle because my tire was sideways) but he let me know that it was not super serious and he could possibly fix it that day.. .We left the car with him and went to a friends who lived locally..David called us back at 730 to tell us the car was ready and that he had put new brake lines in and also fixed my ABS brake line basically for free!!!!!..He had stayed an extra 2 hours by himself to fix the car for us so we could make it home on time...And he charged me about half of what I expected to pay..When I got there he went over and showed me all his work and double checked it with me there.... ..He was very kind and extremely affordable...It was probably the best experience I have ever had with a auto shop...If you need a trustworthy mechanic who cares...This is the place to go!!!!! I was referred here by a friend who praised that they got good quick service for a dented side door. Got greeted immediately with friendly service and patiently listened to what problems my car was experiencing (my engine would cause a high pitch noise randomly while I drove around in it) My car went through a series of diagnostic tests and he found the solution to the cause of the sound and quickly replaced the parts that were causing the problem. These guys are totally legit. They are in my neighborhood so I went by because I wasn't able to replace a headlight in my jeep. I was willing to pay money for him to do it, but he walked me through what I was doing wrong. Wouldn't take any money. Has a dry sense of humor but a good guy in my opinion. Highly recommend HK Auto Care. Huge fan. First time I dropped in I noticed one of my gauges on my car were "off". I pulled in and they told me one of my car's various fluids were low (not a car guy, don't remember which one). They topped it up, and when I asked them how much I owed them they said not to worry about it! Jaw drop. I should preface this by saying: I really hate taking cars into the shop... I'm not an expert, and I don't trust that a mechanic will have my best interests in mind. However, with a dead battery and other problems cropping up (deferred maintenance), I reached out to them once again. Since they were close they walked down the street, jumped off my car, and then did great work (brakes, obscure electrical problems, oil and then some specialized Saab only stuff). I proceeded to bring my car back several times, and each interaction has been similar. Really, the bottom-line is... I can't recommend HK Auto Care enough. Mercer and Shin both really took care of me. I have a huge amount of respect for the both of them. If my review comes across as over the top it's because my expectations were exceeded so greatly by the both of them. The warm atmosphere almost makes you feel like you're a long lost friend dropping in. I wish them all the success in the world. Definitely take your car to them if you can... you'd be a fool not to! Awesome fair prices, very friendly guys. Im from out of town and my clutch went out in santa cruz. AAA towed me all the way back to oakland since i had some friends there. Monday morning my boyfriend and i pushed my 1980 rabbit pickup down to HK. They were super nice and did the work as quick as could be expected on such short notice. Rather than over charging me because i was from out of town and obviously desperate for help, they gave me an extremely good price, beating the guys across the street by about $200.
