Came here for dinner for four last week. We found the dining room very comfortable and the decor was a neighborhood chic type of vibe. This is the kind of place that is fancy casual all at the same time. Staff did an amazing job at accommodating my 84 yr old mother who is handicapped. They serve complimentary bread that is just amazing. We got pizza, beef bolognese, the white lace salad and the chicken caesar. Everything was excellent... except the pizza. The ambiance inside is nice, a bit noisy. The music was blasting even on the patio. Speaking of the patio, it needs a facelift. It just doesn't match the ambiance of how cute and detailed the inside is. My salad was cool but I only ordered it because nothing else sounded good to me on the menu or I didn't agree with prices. 3.50% credit card fee. Food was good and glad we dined here but was just ok. The staff were great and super friendly from the hostess to our server. Nice atmosphere but tables were cramped. Four of us dinned tonight and the experience was nice but could use improvement. Dishes came out of in batches as if their timing was off. Two of us had our dinner plates and the other two had to wait a bit so we sat there until all plates arrived and they hadn't cleared the finished app dishes on the cramps table. This happed with dessert and drinks too. Back to the dishes, they sat on the table forever and we had to hand off menus and empty dishes and ask if they could take them away. For the price point I would expect better service but again the food was good and looked pretty but just was average. Highlighting everyone was friendly and pitching in for each other so it wasn't that bad, just ok. To mention again, they have a 3.50% credit card fee added to the bill. I hate when business do this in general and do not make you aware verbally. Just bad taste. This is a higher price point restaurant and not a small business vendor. Very offsetting to me. Personally, I would prefer no fee or a set dollar amount. All in all, It was ok and nice to try out but so many other restaurants in Columbus so will just consider this marked off my list. read more

We love Gallo's, they served good food and have good service all the time. I always get Calamari and Tuna salad, my husband always change but his favorite was the fish! Last time we were there he ordered burger but he got chicken sandwich instead....... It would be nice if they also get great butter that come with their bread! read more

We've rotated Gallo into THE place to go when we are on this end of town. The restaurant is casually elegant with beautiful artwork. Bread with an olive oild and balsamic oil dip is part of your dining experience. Delicious! The regular menu features small plantes, sandwiches, pizza, steak, seafood, chicken and pasta. But the specials menu is where I order. Their Grouper is spectacular but today I had the Monk Fish and it was phenomenal! Hubby orders the burger every time. Juicy, 1/2 pound, Angus Beef. I have heard many great things about this locally owned spot. I wanted to try it in particular because I'm on the search for the restaurant which does the best bolognese sauce. We both ordered the bolognese pasta. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu, even though we still stuck to our original order. It was quite busy when we came on a weekday evening, they were doing brisk business with plenty of customers there which is always a good sign. In terms of the sauce, it was good. I don't believe they use any wine in it, and it probably takes a couple hours to make, not simmered all day. I would come here again and try other things on the menu. read more

I've enjoyed my visits to Gallo's Taproom and was excited when they opened a new location down the street. Like their other location, they offer daily specials to mix things up. My friend and I had wanted to check out Parley Sporting Club downtown for mussels, but noted that they didn't receive the best reviews and decided to go to Gallo's instead. The restaurant is a on the smaller size, with a rather large bar. There was a TV on, but it was silent, and some nice artwork. Mid-week, the staff were friendly and it wasn't crowded. We did go at about 5, so more people came in as we were wrapping up. We went on a Wednesday, which is Wine Wednesday, so they were offering some half priced bottles. Win! We chose a nice red Zinfandel to share. Because we already had mussels on the mind, we got two orders of their red curry mussels with a side of fries. We each got a nice sized bowl with mussels, some angel hair pasta, and a thick, chunky curry sauce. After making the poor decision to wear white, we were a bit splattered with curry between the shellfish and the pasta, but it was totally worth it. The sauce was flavorful but not hot and went well with the seafood. I had thought the pasta in curry sauce was an odd selection, but really enjoyed it! The fries are awesome, like fair fries with the skin on and little crunchy bits. Finally, we shared their chocolate pot de creme for dessert. It was served in a cute little mug with whipped cream and I thought chocolate shavings on top, but as we ate it, I'm pretty sure it had some espresso beans in the chocolate. I have never been to a Gallo's before, but went a couple of weeks ago for a friends birthday dinner. There is a parking lot in the back, but it's shared, and can get full at dinner hour. I found a spot, but the lot seemed fuller when I left. My friends and I were scrambling to find a place that could accommodate 16 people on a Friday night with only a couple of days of notice, and Gallo's on High came through. The service was great-- I cant remember our servers name, but they paid a lot of attention to our party. I tried two different salads, which were both well-dressed, and of acceptable portion size. The burger tasted quality, would recommend. The mashed potatoes and lollipop lamb chop were also worth mentioning. I would definitely stop by again for drinks with friends or for a dinner date. read more

Have been back to Gallos a few times, always pretty good. Brought my boyfriend late one evening for the first time, he got the Chicken Parmesan sandwich which he really liked, though he didn't like the Mayo on it, he said he'd get it without next time (it's saucy enough). I got the scallops risotto and it was great. However, the star of the show were the French fries. He said they were the best fries he's had. And it's a cute place inside, outside patio, great service, good deals and specials. Definitely will be back again. read more

The wife and I stopped in for dinner on our way to the Crew match based on some internet snooping. Ordered the fish n chips and a BPT pizza. The fish was tender and moist with a crisp but not excessive beer batter crust. Fries were were skin on potatoes; hot, crispy and nicely salted. Pizza listed under "Small Pies" on the menu but actually about 12". No red sauce, and I am a red sauce fan, but didn't miss it! Savoy pesto and fresh cherry/grape tomatoes on a thin, crispy crust...very tasty! We had plenty to eat...took half the pizza home based only on the fact the pizza would reheat better than the fish. Jason did a great job attending to our table. Fish listed only tarter sauce...not a fan. Asked about cocktail sauce and a quick checkin with the kitchen affirmed that would not be a problem. Also inquired about other desserts and were pleasantly notified that a batch of crème brûlée was also available. And desserts...had two (first menu decision and reason we took some pizza home). Crème brûlée creamy and smooth with flavorful crispy top. Our other selection was Pot of Chocolate (or something similar) which was rich and creamy...both excellent in their own ways! Great food and great service...the best we've had in a while...and priced reasonably. We will be back and have already told others of our experience! read more

Our service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. There was a bread service with olive oil and basalmic. It was one of my favorites. I got a salmon dish that was just enough food. Looking for a good meal in a lively atmosphere? Try Gallo's on high. Dined here this evening with a group of around 20 people. We had reservations so seating was not an issue. We were scattered out at four different tables, which was fine for us. The service was decent considering they shorted themselves on staffing, but I felt they were able to overcome it. I saw five or six different attendance at our table throughout the evening. Rather that was bringing meals or drink refills. I felt they did a good job. I didn't hear any complaints about the food and I enjoyed my three pig pizza. They had TVs on the back wall by the bar playing sporting events. The place was fairly full for a Tuesday evening, which did make it a little loud, however, we were still able to have conversation at our tables. This is the newest restaurant in the Gallo group. Small, modern and Italian focused tight menu. Covid guidelines implemented. Be sure to make reservations, otherwise you'll likely will be out of luck. As for the food.... does not disappoint. The BPT Flatbread & crabcakes were delicious. We were unable to try the calamari app & salmon entree as they ran out. We enjoyed our entrees of blacken scallops & chicken Piccata. Chicken better than scallops. But, sweet potato risotto deserves special mention. As for service...... the place was full, we had to wait to order & wait longer than expected for the order. This is a great addition to Cville. Want to try other dishes. However, the original Gallo's in Upper Arlington, with its focus on new Orleans dishes, is hard to best. read more

I REALLY wanted this place to be good, because all of the other Gallo's restaurants in Columbus are fantastic. There are few upscale-but-comfy restaurants in this part of Clintonville, but Gallo's looks the part: the ambiance is good and it's clearly doing well in the neighborhood. But the food is truly unimpressive. My husband's burger was unforgivably overdone, bland, and rested on stale buns. My son's pasta was mushy. Wow. A special dinner out with Gallo's on High. We started with the Jerk Scallops special. A smooth creamy combination of perfectly cooked scallops and a chilled tropical rice pilaf. This was on top of the bread and vinegar oil. For my main course we got the special drunken flatbread. We also sampled the angus burger. Clearly they are used to people not being able to finish the flatbreads as I was able to get half the pizza boxed to save room for dessert. We split the key lime pie and chocolate desserts happily. The chocolate pot was more to my taste, coffee flavors throughout and espresso beans complemented it well. The key lime was a classic pie. The sliver of lime garnish ever so fine and the crust crumbled in the mouth. I definitely recommend reservations as the dining room likely has fewer tables due to social distancing. read more

Three of us went to dinner on Wednesday the 19th 2025. I ordered the Marguerite pizza. One person ordered another pizza and the other person ordered mussels. I have never had a worse pizza in my entire experience with restaurants. The kitchen used can Roma tomatoes, not even chopped up with all their juice on top of a very inferior crust. Along with that, instead of having shredded mozzarella, or perhaps a real slice of mozzarella, there were hunks and squares of mozzarella placed on top of the canned tomatoes. I complained and I said I didn't want the dish. They took it off the bill. They offered me something else, but at that time I was furious. The manager came out and I said to her nobody makes a Marguerite pizza without fresh Roma tomatoes, shredded mozzarella, and basil. She said she would talk with the kitchen. I said you can't use canned tomatoes. I have been to this restaurant five or six times in the past few months. And the meals have been OK, not great. It's a neighborhood place that we need. It needs to pick up their act. read more

We came for half off bottles of wine on a Wednesday, only to find it's not half off all bottles of wine but a select few. These prices seem to have been hiked up too. These are like $10 bottles of wine with a price marked way up. We should have left but got two glasses of wine for $11 each. Just crazy for that being their half off. Apparently, I don't always get to Columbus, but when I do, I always hit up Gallo's! this is the third location of theirs that I've been too since dining here, and I can't say enough good things about them. This location is on the smaller size compared to the other two that I've been too, but still decent enough to seat a fair amount of people. It has more of a wine bar atmosphere, and rather intimate. They have a great, well staffed bar area and mostly 4 tops for dining in house. I noticed the floors here were kind of cool looking, and it resembled a bowling ball. Mike G and I dined here and I had a glass of wine before he arrived. Mike went with red, I went with white. He ordered a pizza which looked fabulous and was a really good size. Enough to bring home leftovers even for the heartiest appetite. Service here's always professional and fantastic and we really enjoyed our time here. I'm starting to realize what a fabulous thing they have going on, and will continue to dine at Gallo's each time I'm in town! read more

LOVE this addition to the row of shops in Beechwold! We haven't dined in yet, but I really like the vibe they have going in there. Cool art and lamps, TVs that aren't too obtrusive, and taking advantage of those big windows! Service has always been friendly and prompt. We came in a bit early for our takeout and the host at the front was really nice and chatted with us while we waited for our order. We've had many things from their menu, but our favorites are the half chicken, the 60 South Salmon, and the wings! Pro tip: check their insta for daily specials! We live nearby and have been to this Gallo's 20+ times. That being said, the last few times over the last year, the food is not amazing. It used to be when it opened years ago, though the last we have left disappointed. The scallops and risotto used to be amazing. Last time I have it, the risotto was SO salty and the entire meal was bland. Last weekend, I went back to my OG favorite, the Chicken Picatta and didn't care for it at all. The sauce was too thick, rather than light and buttery. The chicken was bland. I was disappointed. We love the atmosphere, the patio and the service. Whatever has changed with the food over the past year, however, makes us not want to go back. read more

I once heard that a restaurant only serves a creamy sauce over seafood when they are trying to hide the lack of freshness with the seafood. I expected an explosion of flavor. What I got was mediocre and pretty much flavorless. The mussel shells were oddly cold but the messs themselves were warm. We had a great meal here tonight. Our first night at Gallos. Our waitress was one of the best we've had in a long time. The menu selection is fantastic-- lots of choices from seafood to pasta to pizza to sandwiches. We had the lemon pepper wings as an appetizer. Brined before frying, these come out crispy but juicy inside. The bolognese was hearty and rich, fresh dough for the pear and prosciutto pizza reminded me of focaccia. Delicious! I've always loved the food & tipped the wait staff well. But tonight, when I got my $160 bill (before tip), I notice they are now charging me a $5.08 Credit card fee. Like WTF? What's next? If I drop my knife, am I going to get charged for a replacement? Will they charge for bread? (I guess I should have checked the bill for that. Lol). As a rule of thumb, I never spend money at establishments that directly make their cost of doing business my problem. Way too many great restaurants in C-Bus to screw around with one that can't figure out how many charges they have a night & bake that cost into an average menu item. I guess on the other hand, I could start deducting that $5.08 out of the wait staffs tips... but I'm not that kinda ass, so I'll just move on down the road next time out. read more

What an absolute disappointment. We were driving through from out of town and I found this place on yelp. I ordered the Alfredo and Cesar salad. They didn't even give a kids size portion of pasta. It was a total joke. I paid $22 for half a cup of pasta and 6 shrimp. And on top of it the sauce was not a traditional creamy Alfredo it was basically a butter sauce. The ceaser salad came with some weird vinegar dressing instead of Cesar. This was seriously the biggest waste of money. read more

I ate at Gallo's on High for the first time last night with 3 lifetime girlfriends. I woke up this morning thinking about how delicious my meal was. I had the white lace dinner salad, which was a perfect combination of pears, lettuces, red onion and vanilla bean white vinaigrette. For an entree, I picked from their Specials menu and had the grouper with crawfish cream sauce. The flavors are amazing and it has plenty of lump crawfish atop a healthy portion of perfectly done grouper. I know there's many more great selections but I just don't know how, when I go back, I can stop myself from getting this again! I just hope it's on the Specials when we return! My only complaint was that they didn't have many craft cocktails with clear liquors that tempted me. I did have a couple of the passion fruit vodka drinks that were fairly tasty. I just think their craft cocktail list should be expanded, especially for Happy Hour. Other than that, was a great experience. Worst first impression ever. Had been wanting to try Gallo's for a couple of years. Finally went on Tuesday evening. I was in the mood for a burger so I ordered their "small plate." Asked for medium rare. It came out medium-well. The side of fries was mostly broken pieces from the bottom of the basket. I was amazed that they actually plated them! When I shared with the waiter, he came back and said the manager would comp me HALF the cost of the meal. Any restaurant I've had a similar experience would comp the entire meal. The manager didn't even bother to come to the table which is also SOP for restaurants that blow it. At least my dinner partner enjoyed the corn chowder soup. read more
