Parking was aweful. Ok, I knew we were going to the short north and parking would be a challenge but plan ahead- it was a solid 5 minute walk. Marcella's was jam packed on a Wednesday evening, the noise level made table conversation very difficult. We were seated along the left adjacent to the isle leading from the front door to the kitchen and restroom. We were bumped MULTIPLE times. A party of 7 was squeezed into a round 5 top next to us adding to the cramped space. It was in the 50's yesterday and they kicked on the AC 30 minutes after we were seated. Now I'm Im cold, cant hear and Im getting bumped by guests and staff. We ordered the Italian Wedding Soup expecting a chicken broth based soup. The soup base was ONION. It was aweful. DO NOT recommend. Hubs ordered the chicken parmmesian. The chicken was tender, breaded and well seasoned. The red sauce on the chicken tastes like vinegar. The side of fettini alredo noodles was nothing special. He didnt care for the noodles and sauce admitting Carabbas and Olive Garden has better chicken parmesian and alfredo I orderedthe meatball alredo. And also didnt care for my meal. The meatball was "mealy" an crumbled on the plate. I had 2 different red sauces on my plate. The rich deep red the meatball was simmered in that slightly tasted like the sauce had burned. The fettuccini noodles were delicious, light and fluffy BUT dry. More sauce was needed. The red sauce on the noodles was brright and delicious! The alfredo was lost in the burnt taste of the meat ball sauce. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. The ambiance was poor and the food was terrible We had invited a friend visiting from out of state who ordered the italian salad and only ate part saying it was just ok. We had the BEST night at Marcella's celebrating both my niece's birthday and her new law fellowship in Boston! Our table was perfect for the four of us, with a curved booth and two additional chairs that made for a cozy, comfortable setting. When we arrived, there was a personalized birthday card waiting on the table. Since her birthday is still a week away, she was completely surprised and touched by the thoughtful gesture. Our server, Anders, was outstanding. He struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive, frequently refilling our water glasses and offering excellent wine recommendations throughout the evening. We started with the arancini, which was absolutely delicious. Everyone else ordered salads, so I felt compelled to join them. Anders suggested a half Italian salad, and it turned out to be the perfect portion. For my entrée, I chose the mushroom ravioli in a cream sauce, which was the evening's special. It did not disappoint! Every dish at the table was thoroughly enjoyed, and everyone cleaned their plates. For dessert, my niece chose the lemon tart, which Anders presented with a candle, adding another special touch to the celebration. When I asked for his recommendation, he suggested the tiramisu. Wow! My favorite restaurant in Columbus, always a perfect time here! Came here for Valentine's Day, so it was definitely busy but still a good experience. I've honestly never seen this restaurant not super crowded. Our server Jacob was very attentive. Food was delicious as always! I came here with a large group of friends and dispute our bigger party and the restaurant being packed our waitress did an excellent job of taking care of us and keeping the drinks following. We had a round of espresso martinis which were delicious and I had some wine. My husband and I started with the incredible meatball, which could not have been more tender or flavorful. Then I had an awesome ceasar salad and my husband and I also split the mushroom pizza which was amazing. Our server was fast and friendly, bring drinks shortly after we sat down. Started off with a couple of salads that were outstanding. Had the chicken Parmesan which was really, really good. Usually I ask for more red sauce, and this one was a bit skimpy on it as well, but the side of fettuccine Alfredo just made the dish perfect! I was going to stop half way through and save it for lunch tomorrow, but I just couldn't do it and powered down the whole plate. Daughter got the fettuccine Alfredo with a meatball that she said was also very good. With all the people in the joint and the metal ceilings, it can be rather loud, but I never really had a problem listening to my daughter with my hearing impaired old man ears. When in downtown Columbus (or Polaris) Marcella's is the place to go for authentic Italian food. It's always fresh and is the closest to my nona's that I have tasted. A must try is the meatball appetizer. It's the size of softball, covered in sauce and cheese, served in a small cast iron dutch oven. Absolutely delicious. The Creste Arabiata is my go-to dish. Rich, spicy and delicious. I wish we had one of these in Cincinnati. The place is a noisy, but conversation is still possible (grant it, I was here with a convention with 9000 of my closest friends). The wait staff had always been friendly are quick. I gave up my table (to help get others seated), so I ate at the bar. The bar staff were fun and engaging. Refreshing change from basic meatball dishes. I'd recommend. Veal picatta was ok. The veal was tender and the lemon sauce was good, but it lacked flavor. The potatoes it came with were fluffy inside and a somewhat crisp exterior, but again lacked flavor. The dish as a whole needed a lot of work with seasoning and it seemed to rely on the lemon sauce rather than a flavorful dish in itself. I wouldn't recommend. Chicken Parmesan was good. Large Crispy cutlet topped with quality mozzarella and well seasoned. This was a solid chicken parm and the Alfredo angel hair pasta it came with was an excellent pairing. I'd recommend. Gnocchi Bolognese was amazing. Soft but squishy, gnocchi as it should be. Flavorful sauce and lamb bolognese was tender and in abundance. This was a highlight of the night and I'd highly recommend. Ricotta Cheesecake was good. The lemon cookie curst was an excellent change from the basic graham cracker crust. The strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries added a perfect freshness to the sweet and citrus notes of the cheesecake. If you enjoy cheesecake I'd recommend. Cherry Crostata was excellent. Crispy pastry shell filled with an excellent cherry filling. Chunks of cherry mixed so well with the vanilla gelato. If you're a fan of cherries I'd recommend. Cannoli was good. The pistachios added a great flavor and excess crunch. The shell was crunchy and the chocolate ganache was decadent without being overly sweet. The filling was good, but room temperature which isn't ideal for a should be fresh filled cannoli. This was good, but not the best I've had due to the warmth of the filling. This is a maybe recommend. Flavor is good, but the filling temperature really lets this dish down. Almond chocolate cake was fantastic. Layers of almond and chocolate sponge with a chocolate ganache and nuts on top to add a nice crunch. Served with a small dish of their fabulous tomato sauce, this fluffy, thick bread with crusty cheese and garlic topping is a lovely starter. We shared a Caesar salad (with anchovy) and the kitchen thoughtfully split it into 2 small plates for us. For our main course, we chose the famous veal/beef meatball and one order of lasagna. This was the perfect portion for 2 to share. The meatball arrives in a small covered Dutch oven and is somehow both hearty and delicate. Delicious and lighter than I expected. The lasagna was the star of the show. Perfectly seasoned, the right amount of meat sauce to pasta to cheese. I really prioritized these bites and enjoyed each and every one. We were far too full for dessert but the tiramisu is haunting me - a few tables indulged and the substantial slices had thick layers of their fabulous tomato sweet maracapone cheese filling surrounding the softened lady finger cookies. A Cameron Mitchell restaurant doesn't need any more reviews, but here we are. You know what to expect here: really great service, really unique flavors, and a pretty pricey bill to top off the experience. I will say that Marcella's definitely feels like it's been here for a long time. That comes with the big downside of being in a classic, older location: everything feels really cramped here. Accessibility-wise, this can make it hard to manuever around the location. If you use walking aids or need wide walkways, I would recommend a different restaurant instead. I'd avoid peak hours (or even near peak hours) if you have difficulty hearing. All of the seating here has you closer than one arm's reach to a different table. It's tight. If the table next to you is celebrating something or just louder, it can be really impossible to hear the person across the table you actually came to eat with. If you need extra space for dining, you may need to request a larger table. The tables are barely large enough for the patrons they're designed to seat, and we're always playing tetris with plates throughout dinner. I'm always blown away by service when I come here. Servers are really personable, check in constantly, and very friendly. They're honest and happy to point you away from menu items with an easy familiarity of what they're serving. ("I'm not really into the cream of this dish, but if you love savory beef, you'll love this instead.") Delicious food, amazing service with a restaurant that feels like it has outgrown its space. I always get the Braised Veal Meatball and the Marcella's Italian Salad - typically (before the remodel) I would enjoy the free bread, oil, and vinaigrette however they no longer offer that service and instead point you in the direction of one of the other items on the menu that have bread. I have been coming here for years and haven't ever had a bad experience. They have two locations; Short North and Polaris. I prefer the Short North ambiance. Feels very Italian, always alive, and packed. Can be harder to find parking in the downtown and they are always packed so make a reservation. There is a parking garage a block away. Polaris has parking, you'll be fine. They have space so no problem here. I've had so many items on the menu. My favorite is the chicken Marsala but sub the potatoes with linguini, you'll be even happier. I have had the carbanara - too creamy for me. Ask for it without the egg at least. The salmon is delicious, and so is their chicken parmigiana. Any of their appetizers are good too. They don't have salad nor any just strict steak or chicken dishes other than the salmon and Marsala. Seriously - beer, sangria, wine, cocktails, meats, cheeses, antipasti, appetizers, salads, soups and pizzas were all half off from 4 to 6pm (Mon-Fri). My spouse and I tried three cocktails and a red sangria. The best of them was Tuscan Limonata. Stuffed Peppadews had more of a kick than I expected, but they were still good. The Zucchini Parmesan was even better; they may look like house made chips but they are perfectly seasoned and deliver so much more. The veal meatball came highly recommended from our server and it was as good as advertised - sauce and meat. We ended with the Crispy Potato Pizza. We went here for the Tirimisu , as another waiter at our dinner restaurant recommended it. We got a seat quickly as we were just eating dessert and coffee. They were very busy. The waiter was very pleasant and engaging in conversation. The Tirimisu was on the sweeter side, not the traditional bitter coffee taste. It also had caramel, which isn't my favorite. It was fresh, I drizzled my coffee over it which made it more reminiscent of traditional Tiramisu. I don't think I would try that dessert again there, but if you like a sweeter dessert you may like it. I would love to try the dinner there because it smelled delicious. This place is outstanding! It came highly recommended and I can see why. It's a beautiful restaurant located in Short North near tons of bars and hotels, yet it's more of a local's spot. The restaurant is very cozy and beautiful. I made a reservation day, actually night!, of and we had a table when we arrived early (it was a week night but still!) My colleague and I both ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It's a huge piece of tender and juicy, lightly breaded chicken. Well seasoned and topped with marinara sauce. Alongside the chicken is a large pile of pillowy, creamy linguine Alfredo. WOW! It was amazing! You also get bread and oil/vinegar for the table. Prices seem reasonable. Our waitress, Ren, was the absolute best! She was hilarious and kind. We hugged at the end of our dinner and I'd request her everytime I come back! Service was really quick for a busy night. Make a point to have dinner here one night and apparently the meatballs are a must?! The chicken is pretty darn close, too! read more

Excellent Caesar salad and mocktails ! Two things that are hard to find . Our server was busy but gave us great service . We had a long 15 hour drive and this was a hip fun place to vibe. Fun music too. read more
