Hubby & I went for lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant interior reminded me of Cheesecake Factory. We were seated immediately & our drink order was taken. Freshly baked bread & a plate of roasted garlic olive oil was placed on our table. It was heavenly & we had to remind ourselves not to eat too much or there would be no room for our entrees. Hubby ordered the mixed grill while I got Chicken Parmesan & a chopped salad. The salad was a typical Greek salad & was good. The Chicken Parmesan was huge & took up almost the entire plate. There was a side of spaghetti nestled next to the chicken & it complimented the dish nicely. The server brought a plate of freshly grated cheese & put most of it on my entree. Yum! Hubby really liked the skewer of steak, chicken & shrimp along with the typical veggies of bell peppers, mushrooms & onions. At the end of our meal, the server brought us a lovely chocolate dessert with a strawberry on top for our anniversary. We will definitely be regulars at this restaurant from here on out! read more

This has always been a favorite of my family. I came to visit and my dad wanted to stop by here for lunch. The food is always so tasty. I had the veal parm and it was so tasty. The place itself is nice. But when I was looking around, my chair could be replaced and there were a few paint chips and stuffs on the ground. But the service was amazing and they were able to seat us right away a little before noon. Overall it is a very good place and I will be back! read more

We had to drop off some art pieces at the Richmond Art Museum and when we were done it was time for supper. We stopped here because of the Yelp reviews. For us, it was good but there were some not so good things about it. We were provided warm signature bread with a wonderful oil & seasoning dipping sauce. A great way to start! I had the special Mussles diavolo and the della casa salad. The salad was a great mix of greens, blue cheese, bacon, tomato's, pepperoncini tossed in a mild dressing. Unfortunately the greens had been in the dressing too long and the greens were wilted. The mussels were blue lip New Zealand mussels in a flavorful tomato sauce. A wonderful combination, (and I'm typically not a fan of mussels & tomatoes.) But a seafood fork and a discharge bowl for the shells was not provided. My SO had the shrimp putanesca and Caesar salad. The shrimp wasn't grilled but appeared boiled and lacked seasoning. She said the dish lacked the typical punch that a putanesca would have. I'd like to come back & try other things on the menu. The first time there was very disappointing. Everything looked and tasted like premade things from Sysco. Which meant it was edible, but not what I was expecting at that price point. We decided to try it once more just to see if ordering something different would yield a better experience. Nope. The food is... fine. But it should be half the price since it's very obviously premade food service nonsense. I feel like Richmond seriously lacks good upscale(ish) restaurants and so people think this place is good due to lack of options. The place also looked rundown and dirty. My favorite place to eat. We have never had anything there that was not delicious! They offer multiple vegetable choices which is unusual and they are all cooked perfectly. Daily specials like rib eye steak or prime rib are perfect. And then there is the bread and dipping oil that is very unique and amazing with the warm fresh bread. Yum!! read more

I'm so conflicted by Gallos. On one hand, the service and physical restaurant atmosphere are good enough to be a noticeable upgrade from the likes of Olive Garden. On the other hand, it's kind of in the same mold as other upscale Italian chains like Maggianos, and it just does not live up to even that bar. It's possible to have decent Americanized-Italian food here, it's not authentic by any stretch, but for the average American that's good enough. I guess it's small town-midwest-fancy, and that just doesn't do it for me. Either be more laid-back or be better. Go here if you want halfway-decent American-Italian food. This is "prom night" fancy, not "wedding anniversary" fancy. If you have ever been to Italy or ate Italian anywhere East of Pittsburg, Gallos will disappoint. When my family meets at Gallos, I am neither excited nor disappointed by the food, it's simply good enough. read more

This place surprised me. It's not in a heavily populated area. I didn't expect a restaurant of this quality. The restaurant itself is classy and well decorated. Way more ornate than expected. I had 2 appetizers- breaded mushrooms and the meatballs- amazing. The sauce is homemade. I had the lasagna and it was outstanding. More than I could eat. In fact it was so good that I neglected to take any photos of the food until after it was gone. Tina gave us outstanding and attentive service. We never had to ask for anything. We started with the complimentary bread and oil with seasoning. It was so yummy. One person we were with stated that it was so yummy that it was the best part of her meal. I loved it. Advice.. the oil and seasoning is available for purchase. So bring your own container and take it home. Next we had the appetizer, Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio. That was my favorite. I could have had this for my meal. It was sooo cheesy and delicious. Both our meals were good but couldn't really taste the lobster in the Lobster Ravioli. It was good but really could have stopped at the appetizer. The Gnocchi had a good sauce to it. It wasn't mixed in with the gnocchi but after that was done. Yummy. Came across this Italian establishment so we decide to come by. The parking lot is big so no issue finding a space. The interior is clean and pleasing to the eyes. For appetizer, we had the calamari, lobster bisque soup, and vanilla cream melon soda. The calamari alone was bland but dip it the sauce and it good. The soup was terrible tasting for me. The vanilla cream soda was ok but not my favorite. For my entree, I had the veal Parmesan. The taste was ok but had too much sauce. All in all, it was ok experience but probably won't be back in the future. read more

I was only here to get my chicken parm picked up as part of a take out order during a cross country road trip but they were nice enough to give me a glass of water in a to go cup and the ambiance inside felt nice if you wanted to take a date here. I got this crazy fork in my order so I couldn't eat my food right away but it was definitely yummy as I was riding in a car to get to Oklahoma City and the food was warm when I got it. I don't remotely live here but they had a good menu and it felt like the dine in experience would be good. read more

I can't believe Martha H says the food is expensive, They have great prices that are not much more than Olive Garden. But the food is so much better. I don't know how Richmond scored such a 5-star restaurant. They would hold their own in a large city like Columbus, Ohio and have a much larger customer base. The bread and dipping sauce makes you want to forgo any pasta dish because you want to eat it all day long. We split a Della Casa Salad and it was very fresh. Cross-country trip, random stop, ask hotel manager for recommendations... first thing out of her mouth was Galo's. She described a warm, inviting, family-run restaurant. Say no more. We arrive, it's bustling, but we get a table right away. The server, Alec, is helpful and makes a couple of recommendations. Bread is brought to the table, still warm from the oven, a plate of olive oil with roasted garlic and parsley is set next to the basket. I take a piece of bread and dip it in the oil, take a bite, amazing... it melts in my mouth. This is the best bread and oil I've had in a very long time. The food arrives, perfect mixture of presentation, smell and taste; incredible. I am becoming jealous that this hidden gem is not closer to my home. Incredible experience, easily at the top of our list while on this trip. read more

My husband's absolute favorite and it's a must-have every time we're in town. I had the Fall Harvest Salad with grilled salmon (sadly, I've developed some food allergies to tomatoes and peppers ). Added grilled salmon. Fresh arugula, candied walnuts, apples, feta, pickled red onion... mmmm - didn't even miss tomato. Excellent. And our server, Naomi, was awesome. Friendly and helpful. Mothers Day lunch. My parents love this place. I am not a huge fan personally. My food was cold on top and hot on the bottom. The food had great flavor though. I thought about sending my food back but only seen our waiter again when he brought our check. I had track down another waitress for refills for our table. I want to start with how great they were about a reservation for 20, they seated us right on time and we had one dedicated server the week before Christmas. Our waitress was excellent. We all started with cocktails, they were a little slow to come out but we ordered 20 mixed drinks. She brought us all water while we waited. The bread, oil and Italian seasonings are great, hard not to fill up on this and spoil meal. Everyone had a correct food order. I got the steak salad and it was dreamy. Excellent fresh greens and perfectly cooked steak. Cheesecake was great flavor. Waitress got most of us to go boxes, the portions are generous. Nice place in Richmond to splurge on good Italian for a treat or special occasion. This is less than five minutes off Interstate 70 at the US 40 west exit. We've eaten at Galo's three times over four months, having enjoyed a variety of dishes, including seafood, pasta, salads, soup and desserts. All the food has been very good to excellent. Loved their meatballs, excellent texture though could have been a bit spicier. The bolognese sauce is superb as is the lasagna. My husband (who would know) couldn't say enough about the lobster bisque...exploding with flavor, and mamma mia what a huge bowlful you get. The soup portions are meals in themselves. We had a peanut butter pie slice one time - gigantic and so fluffy light I thought it would float away. Service is above average- attentive and professional two out of three times. Atmosphere is like a big Italian extended family gathering- loud, bright and cheery, surrounded by Roman columns and a Mediterranean sky overhead. A bustling open kitchen adds to the festive feel. Come hungry as portions are generous, and their soft bread with herbed dipping oil is hard to resist. I'm delighted to have found Galo's, come on in for a taste of Italy. read more

This restaurant is disappointing if you are expecting fine dining, but adequate if you are looking for a locally owned alternative to Olive Garden. My party of four each had a different pasta dish. The shrimp scampi sauce was more reminiscent of an alfredo sauce than the light wine-and-butter typical of this dish. Both the eggplant parmesan and the ravioli were drowned in vast amounts of melted cheese. The pasta with meatballs was good and as expected. The seasoned olive oil that accompanied bread before the meal was so salty as to be inedible. On the other hand, prices were quite reasonable for what we got. read more
