The kind of pain you try to ignore because you're tired of being "the sick one." But I've learned that for me, a toothache is never just a toothache. It's another reminder of the long, painful war my body has been fighting against itself. I live with gastroparesis and GERD, two chronic digestive conditions that affect nearly every part of my daily life. Gastroparesis means my stomach doesn't empty the way it should. Food sits there too long, causing constant nausea, bloating, pain, and exhaustion. GERD is chronic acid reflux, where stomach acid repeatedly flows back up into the esophagus. It burns. It damages tissue. And while most people think of heartburn, they don't realize how destructive that acid can be over time. Night after night, while I'm asleep, that acid creeps upward. It erodes enamel. It weakens teeth. It undoes years of careful brushing, flossing, and trying to do everything "right." So I have had quite a bit of dental work here. 4 implants total. I have never experienced…read morerudeness here, in fact they have been very helpful and pleasant. There have been a few hiccups which they have resolved when I spoke with them. I have a really big fear of dental work. When I first started with treatment I had 2 failed crowns that had to have pulled, one of my back teeth was very difficult to get out I think because the root was too long or something. However the attempt to pull that tooth out was very painful and could not seem to be numbed as well as the other side. They finally called in someone to help and it worked, but it was very painful and added to my anxiety. After those implants were complete I had a front tooth break and needed both front teeth replaced. The financial person, Jollee was very helpful I had seen her at my first visit and she worked with my insurance and me to understand everything financially. When moving to my next procedures Jollee had moved "across" the street to their surgical center, so I had spoken with someone else and that experience was not as clear cut as Jollee, when I had my front tooth experience Jollee was back thank goodness and helped me understand my previous quotes and everything financially up to date. She is pleasant, kind and helpful. I also spoke with her about some of my previous experience with anxiety and why and she offered nitrous oxide and it was extremely helpful. It would be helpful to have an after visit summary as most of the time my anxiety is so high I have very little comprehension after the surgeries. My partner was always there thank goodness and they were able to give her my care plan. Dr. Pham was my initial dentist and now is Dr. Das, all the dentist/ surgeons have been helpful and kind. The environment is very clean and pleasant. I do recommend Clear Lake Dental. A lot of concerns can be alleviated by asking questions until everyone is clear on the expected outcome. If they offer a dental plan outside of your budget say no, and see if there is a less expensive plan. I did not give a 5 star because right now I have been waiting over a week for confirmation about a balance due. I don't want to get a text about a balance due without reviewing a statement. So hopefully they will send via email as I have asked via text and email.

Second visit more $$$ was told I had a heavy bite and they ground down my bridge, it did not fix my issue, 3rd visit more $$$ I was referred to a specialist who found the issue was I needed a root canal and it did not take long to figure it out, and they did not take the time to see if that dentist took my insurance so more money out of my pocket. Either the Texas City Family dentist is rushing through patients and recommending the Periodontal cleaning to keep their people busy and no one there can read an x-ray, either way I was in pain for over 4 months and they billed my insurance for the first visit which I paid for because they were going to charge my insurance more than $400 and it was going to be a special of $75 or $80 they still charged my insurance even after I paid the fees. I have lost all confidence and trust in this dentist office; they play Christian music but does not seem to fit the pattern of how they operate. So be careful to find out how much up front for cash and insurance get a second opinion because I am not sure they are paying attention. I needed something done sooner than that. I asked a local resident I met at the pool and she said, "Go off island. Check out Texas City Family Dentistry; so I did. Let me be up front with you: I don't have dental insurance and I'm scared s---less about dentists. I haven't been for many years because of past experiences and I wouldn't have gone now if I didn't have an issue. I have a real fear of dentist, but, I put on my "Big girl Pants" and off I went. After my first visit to TCFD, I am SO GLAD I DID! These people are AWESOME! Dr. Patterson is so friendly and thorough; and Jessica, the hygienist, is gentle! They took a million x-rays (including using some little pencil type one inside my mouth - never saw that before). We worked up a care plan - I need one filling and deep cleaning. I will get this starting next week in two sessions. The prices were the same as the one on island - no surprise there - but using Care Credit, I can pay over 12 months no interest, so that's perfect. What I did like was instead of paying for my whole mouth to be planed, the hygienist goes through measuring each tooth at the gum line and only planes the ones that need it so I saved some money on one quadrant because it did not need it. Very good for the budget! Also Dr. Patterson took a more conservative approach to the tooth that the other dentist said needed a crown. We are going to try a filling first and only put a crown on if we have to. So I like that. All in all I was very satisfied with the initial consultation. Jessica, the hygienist, could see I was very nervous, so she put some numbing rinse in my mouth. OMG - this is miracle stuff! I hardly felt her digging away at my gums at all during the measuring and partial cleaning. When I come back for deep cleaning, she says this will help me not feel the needles so she can dig deeper. In addition to the extra numbing rinse, there is a tv on the ceiling. They give you a remote and earphones to help distract you - I watched a session of Good Bones! Between the swishy stuff and the tv, I was as relaxed as I've ever been at the dentist. I'll write more when I come back for the drilling and the deep cleaning. AFTER 1ST TREATMENT: I was really nervous about going today to get my work done. I got the swishy stuff right away; but, unfortunately, Dr. Patterson came in right after the swishing so it didn't have as much time to "work." However, I didn't feel the numbing needles at all except for the two to the roof of my mouth. But I was told they're not pleasant no matter what. After I got through that, he let me sit for awhile to numb up. I was excited about getting the TV going to distract me; but, unfortunately, the headphones wouldn't connect with the tv so I had no sound. I can honestly say I didn't "feel" any of the drilling, but my mind plays games with me so I did have some struggles getting through it without the distractions of the tv. We had to pause a couple of times to let me get myself together. But I made it and it honestly didn't hurt. It was only my nerves getting to me. After the filling, they moved me to a room where the tv system worked for the planing. I had no troubles there at all because of the distraction of the tv and Jessica was awesome. She really is a super great hygienist. If you're like me - have a real phobia of dental work - I highly recommend Dr. Patterson and Jessica. I honestly think after going to them for a while, I'll get over a lot of my fears; maybe even all of them! I"m much more optimistic now about keeping my teeth healthy

I'd prefer they do their job rather than crediting us months after the service. We received a letter explaining it months after the fact. So how are we to know that you are charging correctly?! Their staff is not there to provide a service. I became a patient with them and explained how sensitive my teeth were. We, myself and Dr. Hannah Dickson, agreed on how to proceed with the cleaning. I needed a new nightguard and she instructed me it would be $200 for a hard night guard, not the soft one that I had. I wanted a replacement, soft like I had and was pretty much told they don't like doing that. It was hard or nothing. I agreed to the hard one, received it, and they fitted it. It was so hard that it suctioned to my teeth. It was uncomfortable and risked a cap that I have on my teeth. So I stopped using it. In 6 months, I went back for my next cleaning. I again requested the same process used in my prior cleaning. I was told that we didn't the process to treat for my sensitive teeth. Thankfully I was insistent and they reviewed my records to see I was correct before proceeding. We once again discussed the night guard and I insisted on a soft one. I was told it would be another $200 for the mold. I was not treated as if I had any part in my treatment plan or really as if my opinion on treatment mattered. I have spoken to their office manager several times, each time looking for clarity and each time met with rudeness and the attitude that she is doing me a favor. My advice is to find a different dentist, different office.
