I really like this store. This is my friend's main store to play Magic: The Gathering and he invited me to play at FNM. Even though it was my first time there, the people that work there really made me feel at home. Seth is a great guy. They also host weekly tournament for Magic: The Gathering for different formats. I went to my first ever tournament there in the Modern format and I placed third. The meta there is slightly competitive however no one there is a sore loser so its a fun and accepting environment, unlike other stores I've been to since then. The only downside to this store is parking. If you're going to a tournament here or something, make sure you come at least 30-45 minutes earlier because they share a very small parking lot with around 6 other stores in that area. But yes, I really recommend this place. read more

My wife and I play here all the time. From the first time we went in there, we felt like this was the best place for us. It is welcoming and really gives you a place for your hobby, which for us is RPGs and tabletop games. Love Game Kastle Fremont! I semi recently got back into a miniature war game called Warhammer Fantasy Battle. I was able to find some other folks who play too and now we have a little gaming group that meets up here on the weekend (usually saturdays). The staff in here are very accommodating and help us to set up tables for the battles of the day (they have terrain for use already). They are helpful with advice about painting and gaming in general too. Besides being a nice place to play Warhammer, I think it is nice also that they are open to all games really. I always see other people playing card games and board games. They are also starting to have more tournaments and stuff too. Very cool! While the parking around the store can be tricky at times, I've always been able to find a space without too much difficulty. What's nice too is that there are a few restaurants around that help a gamer with a case of the munchies (they sell snacks too btw). If you wanted to go into a game store and find something for everyone, this is the store. They got so many different games and support games fervently with their many expansion sets, models, and other gaming materials. Definitely check this place out. I'm glad I did and now I'm a regular Game Kastle gamer. read more

This is by far my favorite tabletop shop, and I've been to quite a few all around the Bay Area. The selection here is extensive and the atmosphere is always really welcoming and warm. Do they have the lowest prices? Not always. Do they offer the best and most valuable rewards program? Not really. Do I care? Not even a little bit. I have friends that question why I pay Game Kastle prices when I can get the same game on Amazon for cheaper. The reason is simple. Their staff. The staff here is excellent. They're passionate and knowledgeable about games and I find that added value worth the additional cost. Sure, I could do all my research here and then turn around and buy a game on Amazon, but I don't. One, I'm not a dick. And two, I get a certain happiness when I buy a game here knowing that I'm supporting a local game shop. read more

This is a fantastic game store! The staff are very friendly, it has an extensive selection of games, and it has many gaming tables where you can play games with friends. Parking is a bit hidden -- it is directly behind the store. There is an entrance to this parking from Main St. (drive around the block and look for the "Unique Hair & Nails" sign) or you can get to the parking log by going down the alley between "Salsa Picante No 2" and "Unique Hair & Nails" just to the left of the store. read more

They have a very customer based approach to their store. Meaning that the staff are quick to greet new faces and offer insight to any game you are playing. The store is kept very clean too - partly because of their routine cleaning and organization and also the customer's respect for the store. My god, I love this store. It's like someone resurrected Scenario and joined it with eBay and made it 10x better. I had never stepped foot in here before today, but I will likely spend the vast majority of my hobby dollars here going forward. I called yesterday looking for a product I've never heard of, couldn't find locally or online at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Games Workshop, etc & was told that they had plenty, to come on down. Driving in from Livermore for one thing is a big deal for me, but I reluctantly needed to. I was happily greeted just inside the door by a clerk that asked what I was looking for. When I mentioned the call, he said he was wondering when I'd come by and that he was glad I made it. There had be at least 50 people playing a multitude of games, with a noise level to match, but I was immediately made to feel at home. Required product in hand, I spent about a half hour happily browsing and buying. The clerk came to check on me two times to see if he could help, including introducing himself with a handshake as Garland. This is no pressure, genuinely friendly customer service at its best, and greatly appreciated. The wide array of paints, basing and landscaping materials, games, miniatures, you name it...sure, you can get those online. But buying local, knowing Game Kastle has exceptional stock or options close to what you're looking for plus so much more, AND friendly staff to boot...that's a combination that those big websites just can't match. read more

So the Fremont Game Kastle is rather special to me. As a newcomer to he hobby around 3 and a half years ago, I stopped by their Fremont location when they first opened, and was warmly greeted, given recommendation on a card game that my fiance would actually play with me, and then invited to come back on one of the regular game nights to play/learn new games. I've been going there regularly since then. Seth and crew are fantastic! They know the hobby well, are friendly/energetic, and can be counted on to help whether you need a pointer in learning how to paint miniatures, need a rules clarification in the middle of a game, or just curious about what new games might suit you and your group. The biggest pro of a local game store is the community, and GK has a wonderful one. Many regulars here that are friendly and helpful towards newcomers to the hobby, and open to people joining their games so that one can try and learn a game before buying. The only con(?) was that sometimes they are too busy and finding table space for a group during a busy time (like friday night magic) might not be as easy as during off peak hours. But even that was alleviated when they expanded into the neighboring store and opened up a new aisle of table spaces. In addition to having a fair selection of snacks, beverages, and ice cream in store, they are also on the same street as many eateries so you don't have to travel far (if at all) if you need a meal break during a long game session. The only con (which is beyond their control) is the parking lot. It's on the smaller side and shared with the other businesses nearby, so if you go there during a busy time like Friday night, finding parking close by can be hit or miss. But again, I don't fault them for that since that's not something they can control. So to reiterate: great game store, great staff, great community, frequent events. If you are new to the hobby, or just looking for a place to play or meet more people within the hobby, this is a great place to go. read more

Cool place, has a lot of tabletop games and paraphernalia associated with them. Good place to shop for colorable figurines, board games, TCG boosters and boxes. Also sells snacks and drinks! Pros: Wide selection of gaming stuff. The employees build 3D environment mock ups for you to play on. They host tournaments for those into MtG and such. Cons: this place is a hole in the wall. You might miss it if you haven't been there before and the parking is tight and scarce. If you're hoping to buy single cards, they don't sell em here. They carry only the latest renditions of games so don't expect to find any old treasures. I'd rate this place higher if they sold TcG singles. Great staff and big space for the avid tabletop gamer. I went to Game Castle to stock up on some paints as a prelude to getting started on miniature painting. The store is well stocked with a large variety of items and the people who work there as well the the people who were just painting their miniatures there were super helpful and nice. It is welcoming, literally, someone welcomed me as I entered the door, and not in the generic way most people say it. I needed a specific thing and was quickly directed to it. Not only that the person helping me was keen to ask what I play and started talking to me about my game. Very few places give his level of service any more and I would definitely go back. This is hands down the best game shop in Fremont and possibly the tri-city area. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the latter being what sets them apart from other game shops in the area. There is always a great atmosphere in the store and I'm always greeted when I walk in. They have an amazing selection of card games, board games, war games, and more games. The competitions are fairly regular and organized well. I recommend anyone visit this store, regardless of your gaming experience and check out what they have to offer. read more

Went to Game Kastle on a Thursday and was surprised to see a decent scene of tabletop gamers. Nice workers and players overall with a lot of love for board gaming (not just MtG). Saw some action in Pandemic, Zombie Dice and even Millennium Blades. Tons and tons of board games to check out. Probably the most I've seen of any store. I don't think I'd go anywhere else to be frank. More LGS should follow this simple model of giving gamers of all types a place to hang out and play (not just MtG, LCGs, etc.). I imagine this naturally drives business as Game Kastle is expanding beyond 2 locations. read more

I have been going to Game Kastle Fremont for many years now. It was a fun place to hang out until there was too much testosterone being thrown around the different gaming communities. Its still fun to hang out there if you have a sane group of friends to play games with. However, my biggest concern is their pre-ordering system. Multiple people including myself have been continuously burned by Game Kaslte Fremont. Multiple products spanning different game systems continuously fail to be available to people who pre-ordered products from the store. Why set up a pre-order when all they tell you is that its out of stock? This issue has been going on for many years now, and its severely disappointing. Each time I pre-ordered something I had to always call them or speak with them in person as to why its not available. Their excuse is that its always the distributor. Sure blame them, but I have never heard of them doing anything to fully address this issue. I have nearly stopped buying any product from them. I am thankful they don't charge people to play games there, and that I have a place to play my games at with my friends. However, if you want to pre-order any new hot items, you are better off with a online retailer or some other non-Game Kastle store. read more

Highly recommended!! Definitely the go-to store for my gaming fix! While it isn't as big as the Santa Clara store, it is definitely more "classy hobby store" looking and less "converted auto repair shop". The staff is super friendly and helpful. The folks that come to play there are friendly and welcoming and are always willing to demo a game for the curious. Pick up games are easy to come by and it isn't overrun by any one gaming group (except for the inevitable monthly Magic tournaments). The selection is excellent and varied. They constantly update the website with new releases as well as photos of gaming sessions and events. Ray has an uncanny ability to put names with faces and it is a nice feeling knowing that you are appreciated at a personal level whether you bought a $100 boardgame or just a pack of cards. read more
