What I can say is that there is tons of space in this place, with lots of tables set up for playing or trading cards. There's adults here playing Pokémon, and kids wandering around trading cards with each other and testing the employees' patience and knowledge at the sales counter. They seem to have a pretty good selection of stuff (but what do I know?) and in addition to the gaming cards they have sports cards and board games. My kids are very happy we stopped here. 5 stars because every single interaction I've watched between the employees and customers has been top notch.

From my perspective, lines at Gamestop typically move very slow, but, nevertheless, I was there to return an item (not even knowing if they'd give me a refund) so I begrudgingly stepped to the back of the line and waited. There was only one employee working, Ash, and at first glance, the serious look on her face made me initially assume she was mildly irritated with all of the customers (never judge a book by its cover) or that whatever she was dealing with was going to take a long time. This was just me being a status quo dummy, expecting service with a smile for no good reason. I was also worried I'd be in line for an hour! I then hear cry out, "Can I help you?! Are you going to return that? Does it work?!" It was Ash (the only employee there, I might add), and, assuming it was far too early to get service (as there were a few people still ahead of me in line), I snapped back a bit and said "there's nothing wrong with it!! It works fine!!!! Why?!" Ash responded, and to my surprise (assuming she was about to come back with a nasty answer) she said, "awesome! I'm just trying to keep this line moving fast, sir". That's when I realized indeed how quickly the line had moved by that point already, and that Ash was servicing 2 customers at once!!! I immediately felt terrible for rudely shooting back at her, as I could see how excellent she was at her job! Minutes later, she had my used Nintendo WiiU In her hands, and without question, checked the device and had my refund to me in what had to have been less than 1 minute! She was very friendly. Ash, was/is, the most skilled employee at any GameStop I've ever been to, by a long shot! Sometimes employees who can be a little stern are actually just amazing at their job and busy. I was exercising a bit of entitlement when I first walked in, and walked out with a bit of shame for snapping at Ash, as she truly was friendly, helpful, and extremely fast! They have a good stock and have never been out of anything when I've been in. (Granted, I am SO not one of those "wait outside the door the night before a big name game is released" type of guys.) Want to sell video games? They'll take them. Sure you don't get much FOR them, but that's typical. The staff is nerdy, but not aggressively so. In fact, non-aggressive is a good way to explain them altogether. They mention and inform me of all the special deals, but they don't harass me about them like other stores have. They don't try and get me to pre-order every single thing that's coming out. They keep me in the loop as to what is coming up but there are no hard sells. I appreciate that. Additionally, they are always handy with their opinions of which games are worth it and which aren't. So what's negative? Parking. I usually NEVER ding a review on parking, as I hate how car dependent we are here in KC. But it's just bad news here. Right off Westport Rd and Southwest Trafficway and sharing a strip with two incredibly popular restaurants, you can forget about street parking anywhere nearby and the tiny lot is always full. I generally park at Blockbuster across the street. Hopefully they never notice and tow me away. But regardless, the parking woes are not enough to dissuade me from choosing this Game Stop when I want to get my nerd on.

They have plenty of seating to fit all of us, and they offer alot of high top tables as well for people playing Warhammer. Its always busy in here, they have pretty good pricing on snacks and drinks, and they always have the latest drops usually for new sets as well. The guys that work here are also super chill, we come in enough that they know us somewhat. Always super nice, and help out with anything we might need. If we are there super late, sometimes they lock us in on the table side of the store and just have us use the back door when we leave so it doesn't interrupt our game we are wrapping up. 10/10 one of our favorite card shops in KCMO to come and play at.

But when a caucasian customer stood up there for just a second, that white employee immediately jumped up to help him. Meanwhile us as black customers just stood there confused. They barely had anything to choose from in their MTG Commander decks anyways. But just to not be greeted or recognized like they did the white man immediately says a lot about this "small" business. Im sure their business supports LGBTQ+ and other minorities, but their support stops at black customers. We went yesterday (Sep6th) around the evening time. Never again. Then the other POC employee sat down and ate his pizza rather than helping out attending to customers (like us) that came in the store; as if he didn't have work to do. This store needs to work on their customer service and professionalism. This small business is small for a reason, they seem to have never grown into bigger or better things....like their inventory. Believe us we did NOT spend our money here; we went to Spankys. I will be sticking with Spankys Card Shop from now on.
