Grab a comfy chair, flip through a new read, and sip on a drink from The 2nd Cup Cafe tucked in the back. As we wandered through the shop, there was an unmistakable sense of calm and happiness in the air. I found books I absolutely love--some I discovered on my own and others that were personally recommended by the store's fabulous curator, and owner Peter. When I mentioned a book I had recently read and loved--Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin--Peter immediately jumped up, went straight to the bottom shelf, and pointed it out. There was even a handwritten staff recommendation and summary attached to the book. Many of the books throughout the store have these thoughtful mini-reviews, which made browsing feel so personal and engaging. I love the overall vibe of this shop. The selection of gifts is just right: a charming mix of journals, candles, book-themed merchandise, and a few toys--including stuffed animals. I fell in love with a stuffed bear and now I'll have to go back because I didn't purchase him (regret!). If you have the time, I highly recommend setting some aside to slowly explore the shelves, stacks, and cozy nooks of this beautifully curated bookstore. It's an absolute delight

The only non white member of the group was completely racially profiled by this employee. Calling him thief as he tries to leave the store HOLDING HIS RECEIPT and continued to PHYSICALLY chase him out of the store yelling "you got a problem with me?!" THE UNPROFESSIONALISM!!!! when trying to get her name because everyone was made extremely uncomfortable by this employee. They have a lot of merchandise pretty well organized. It is a discount store so prices are reasonable and service is no frills aka do it yourself. Lots of holiday gifts, decor, clothing, luggage, accessories etc for everyone here. Parking is easy out front. Lines can be long at peak times. I've been to the Toms River, Hamilton, Lawrenceville, and Old Bridge stores. Toms River is my favorite of the 3 and Old Bridge my least favorite. Sometimes I find great deals and sometimes I don't. You do have to know your prices though because there have been items I passed on things due to knowing I could do better elsewhere. They used to have Pantene shampoo often at lowest price anywhere but I haven't seen that in a while. I got a better deal on a brand new Hamilton Beach K-Cup coffee maker there a couple of years back which was cheaper than Amazon and Walmart at the time. Don't go with expectations and just look thru the whole store. I always leave with several items even if they weren't a thought in my mind prior to walking in.
