The interior feels a lot like waling into a book store and the vibe definitely carries once you talk to the store manager. If you have any questions, and you probably should if you're walking into this place, the front desk manager will be able to help you with the intelligence and experience of a seasoned librarian who knows exactly where every book in their library is. If you like learning and looking at maps, dreaming about visiting remote areas some day this, is the spot for you. A really fun aspect of walking into the store is asking what sorts of interesting maps they carry. I personally really loved the map of Phoenix superfund sites created by FEMA. It's beautiful enough to hang on a wall but still useful enough to reference it several times per month. My favorite aspect of wide world is the funny collection of people who come in to shop. The whole store is full of quirky interesting people who will talk your ear off about an interesting map they discovered in a garage sale. You'll have a blast just socializing here. Finally, I will add, even though the prices f the maps aren't cheap, their quality reflects in the price. Every map I have purchased here is an awesome, high quality, doesn't rip or fade, and is awesome to look at.

This is our go to place to find books and other gifts for friends and family - and ourselves. Not just books. We find Lego sets, bookmarks, toys, and lots of other miscellaneous items here. Even with just a quick shopping trip this place is in close proximity to Claire's, Build-A-Bear-Workshop, Lego Store, etc. Easy to shop at Barnes, hit any of those other stores, and head out. There's also a fantastic kid's section for getting books for our niece. So glad we still have brick and mortar bookstores like these around. I am not into reading books on screen. We all spend enough time staring at screens, IMHO. Definitely recommend stopping in for just a few minutes. Browse the stacks and find a good book. Get your mind off of the real world for a quick adventure. You won't be disappointed.

I used the bathroom and it was clean. They seemed to have a huge selection of everything. This location is in the Chandler Fashion Center and both entrances seemed to have a cash register/check out/guest services area. Definitely recommend this spot.

I've checked out other comic shops around the Valley, but none of them seem to have the Spawn selection that Collector's Choice does. They also have a great selection of graded comics and variants, which makes browsing even more fun. One thing to know before visiting: new releases and back issues are handled as separate transactions. So if you bring a mixed stack to the counter, expect to do one transaction for the new books and another for the back issues. I've never asked why they do it that way, but after shopping here several times, it's just something I expect. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. During my last visit, the owner was interacting with customers by offering 25% off any item in the store to anyone who could correctly answer his random comic trivia question. Nobody got it right while I was there, but it was a really fun way to engage with customers. For the curious, the question was: "What was the final issue of Conan the Barbarian published by Marvel?" Answer: #275. If you're a comic collector--especially a Spawn fan--this place is absolutely worth checking out.

Imagine my delight to realize that the Changing Hands Tempe location was mere minutes away from our previous stop! Of course, we had to visit. I was immediately engrossed by the assortment of non-cheesy and extremely cool gift items that were at the front of the store, but also sprinkled throughout the location. I also really enjoyed that they had both new and used books. I try to limit myself to purchasing used books for environmental concerns, but it's tricky to find new titles pre-owned, so I justified a splurge and purchased two new books. The prices for both new and used books were extremely fair. In addition to the copious amounts of books, gift items, indie bookstore merch, and everything else wonderful, they also have a photo booth! My sister and I have an agreement to indulge in every photo booth we stumble upon, so we were super excited to happen upon one here. I can't say enough good things about this spot. I'm already excited to return.

The employee who answered was pleasant and assured me it would not be a problem. A few minutes later I got a call back from a manager, who I believe was the store owner Michael Bahr. He told me they would not accommodate the sales tax exemption and rudely berated me with demanding questions. I explained that I was not looking for any discounts, I would be paying full retail price, but my organization is legally sales-tax exempt in Arizona. He told me that "your tax issues aren't my problem" and "we don't care if you shop here or not" and "we don't need your business." He then hung up on me. I called back and a different employee answered. He sounded a little embarrassed when I asked if he was the one who hung up on me. He said, no, it was his manager and transferred me back to him. I explained again that we were not looking for any special prices and that I had all of the paperwork that Arizona required to purchase tax free with me. He told me again that they were "doing just fine without your business and had no interest in doing extra work because you won't do your own accounting." That is a close but not exact quote. He said that sounded like my problem and for a final time stressed that they didn't care if I shopped there or not, rudely laughed at me, and hung up on me again. I sent a follow up email to the store with a simple one line note saying that I was serious about intending to make a very large purchase and received a response from the the store owner that "I'm still trying to figure out why you think we want your business." Full response from the owner is in the photo. I am appalled and shocked by this owner's attitude and that he blatantly turns away business, though it looks like if I had read reviews first I might not have been so surprised. It was my first experience with this store, and I will never be back either to purchase or to play. I can't imagine how many budding card players may have decided not to pursue the hobby because they do not have a welcoming store close to them or they had a bad experience with this owner.
