Made a purchase at the Germatown, MD location off of Middlebrook Road. My son loves the new college football revamp and he wanted to do the "Road To Glory" mode which was last in the NCAA 2014 version. Online inventory said that this location had it and we made the trip over. Waited in line for a bit and Jessie helped us. The lady and son in front of us took a bit as they were trading stuff in and going back and forth about they wanted to do....well while they were taking their sweet time deciding, Jessie helped us and we were done. Small store and lot of foot traffic today but Jessie got us in and out. The game was only in a sleeve but Jessie also took the time to print out a cover and give us a formal game case with it. I just wanted to give a shout out to the manager/employee. He seems to be doing it all and working as fast as he can managing a lot of people during the holiday season. The store isn't huge and it isn't the most well stocked, but in terms of service, I think it is the best. I grew to the age where I do not play games anymore because of time constraints, but coming here to sell my barely touched switch and games where most of them were not played at all was convenient and quick. Nate the manager is the man. I bought a controller in Frederick, MD with a warranty (11:15 am). Went home, tested it out, and found that it was defective after 30 sec of "use". I go straight back to return it (12pm) and they REFUSED to refund/exchange (OR even trade in) the $160 I spent on the Razer Wolverine V2 controller. At this point i'm absolutely baffled and at a loss for words that I just practically threw almost $200 on the floor and wiped my ass with it. I called the 1-800 number listed on the receipt and was given direction to speak with the manager. Guess who wasn't going to be in today at all in Frederick... You guessed it, the manager. At this point I don't know what to do other than maybe call another gamestop that has someone with a brain. And my God. Thankful for Nate at the Germantown Gamestop as he gave me a full refund for not only the controller but the warranty as well. Thank you thank you thank you! Nate should get a raise! Not happy with my last two visits to this GameStop! The first trip was semi poor customer service. The female sales associate seemed to be in a daze like her mind was on another planet. Not very engaged in what was going on. I was only there to preorder a game that was to be released soon. My second encounter is when I came to pick up the preordered game. I walk in and the store was empty except for one other customer. I walk up the counter to pick up my "guaranteed" to be in stock to preordered game. I get this story about how the warehouse had an error and didn't ship enough copies of the game. So I ask about why they didn't have the game if games that are preordered are guaranteed to be in stock for those who did preorder. The sales clerk shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn't his fault. So in retail where I have worked before, I learned that you don't just shrug your shoulders and try to through someone else under the bus. You try to see what you can do to help the customer. At least don't give the customers empty sentiments about being sorry when your facial expressions show that you could care less! If you want a good GameStop go to the one in Rockville, md on shady grove rd. Jon that works there is awesome! Quality is steadily declining. Called at 8:45-8:55 no answer, called from outside at 8:55 and saw them ignore the call. They supposedly close at 9 and after working a 13 hour shift I was just happy to make it on time. At least acknowledge the customer. I'll be picking up my preorder and that will conclude any business with this branch. read more

My experience here was positive. We were welcomed upon entry and the sales people were more than willing to assist. They had extensive knowledge of the games and shared info on what to expect between Game Stop and other stores. This location provided a variety of games, gaming accessories and exceptional customer service. I will definitely return to purchase games for my nephew. read more

I haven't really had great experience with staff at other GameStop locations, but when I came in to the Germantown location today (Sunday 4/15 around 11 AM) the single employee there was polite, helpful, and engaging, answering all our questions while also helping the other customers in the store. I just really hate there system there. Halo 4 was released today and I decided to go at 3:30pm to see if there were any copies left over and at the same time trade in a game. When I walk in, half of the wall behind the cash register is Halo 4 about 5 to 6 copies deep in each row. I ask the Asian guy with the glasses there (who I've seen be a complete dick to everyone he helps in the past.... or doesn't help for that matter) and he asks me if I pre-ordered the game. I say no and he replies with a "No! You can't have it than!" in this haha you're an idiot for not pre-ordering tone, and than walks away before I can say anything else. I was going to get Dishonored instead but he just walked away so to hell with him. Well my thing to him and this particular gamestop is, if you know this is most likely one of the hottest games coming out, don't you think you order a few more copies than just the pre-orders???? Doesn't that make sense???? 10 or 20 maybe? You know someone is going to come in a day or two later and trade a game in for Halo 4. Maybe sometimes people think at the last minute... "Hey, you know I might try this Halo game out but I haven't played any of the others." Since maybe we don't play every single f'ing game that comes out and there are casual gamers. Just because you sell games doesn't make you the coolest person ever, it makes you the same as me, someone that likes to play video games. There have a been a few nice people there at this gamestop but after dealing with this buffoon I'm officially done with this Gamestop. Gaithersburg near Lakeforest mall has a better Gamestop and in fact I went there for Battlefield 3 midnight release without a pre-order and they let me buy one on the spot. Wow! Extra copies for a new game..... why didn't we think of that!? I would suggest finding better staff or lose your business to Best Buy or the Gamestop in Gaithersburg (which also has more Master Chief action figures than your little store so there.) read more

There is one particular employee who has gone above and beyond his job description for me so that I could obtain a very highly demanded product. Sometimes it can be tough to get an employees attention, but once you do they can answer any question you have. They are extremely knowledgeable (and in my experience) quite nice. I have found this to be the case for almost all Gamestops. They must have a great hiring process (or just draw people who are passionate and interested in gaming of all sorts). read more

I tried to return a copy of Pokemon Black 2 that was broken upon opening (it was bought 2 days prior). I first tried to exchange it for a copy of Pokemon White 2. The man that worked there ( white, average size, shoulder length hair, short beard) couldn't do that because he said they didn't have it (never bothered looking though) but could exchange it for Pokemon White 1. He said "you know white 1 is the same thing right" in a very condescending tone. I informed him no it is not. First of all the number 2 is not the same as 1, that's why the number 2 was created. Different story as well and Pokemon but I digress. So since I couldn't exchange it because of their availability I asked for just a refund. He said "you might as well go to another GameStop to since it will take about three days for it to process the credit transaction". I then asked for a cash exchange but said he couldn't since it was first bought with a Mastercard. Fed up I left the store with my still broken copy of Pokemon Black 2, went to the Gamestop near Lakeforest. They too didn't have a copy of Pokemon White 2. HOWEVER THEY AT LEAST TRIED TO FIND IT. And to top it off, they ended up giving me a cash refund for the broken game without any hassle! I understand how Gamestop would try to prevent money leaving their door but the measures taken here were very short sighted. That store just lost a customer forever, so how much did that $35 cost that store in the end? read more
