Like an idiot, I went back looking for something their website said they had. The guy at the register doesn't even acknowledge me as I walked in and there was nobody in the store. We're trying our best to hunker down at home with the rising covid numbers, so when a friend was cleaning out her old things and offered me her son's old wii system, games and remote controls, we happily accepted.  The thing is, we're pretty uncoordinated, so we kept dying fast in those mario games, LOL but hoped that the dancing games wouldn't be as embarrassing! We hopped to a gamestop and found out that the used wii games were a steal - most range from $0.99 to $4.99, and they were offering 20% off if you bought more than 2.  Plus, you can return pre-owned games within 7 days for a full refund for any reason! I hunted for dancing games from a few stores, and found out that they have an even better deal this week - buy 5 of the pre-owned games that are $4.99 for only $10!!!  This place also gets five stars because the cashier nicely asked 3 young boys to wear a mask when they entered. I really appreciated that, especially when I'm sure it's uncomfortable to say and the staff probably aren't paid that great to police that sort of thing. The dancing games are old, and the music is a little dated (honestly, I'm not up with the hip new songs so I got pretty excited about 10 year old songs like American Boy!), but they still work and it's been the best bonding time with my seven year old!  Thank you Gamestop for offering these games and inviting the public to "recycle" and minimize from their homes so that others can enjoy these for good prices! read more

This is the convenient store located in Kapolei, in the Safeway shopping center. I frequent this store every now and then when I need to buy a gift for my gamers in my life. I know nothing about video games etc. so I am usually a deer in headlights. Or like a man in a lingerie store. They are extremely helpful, and they show me exactly what I need so I can pay and get out of there. The store is spacious, they are following the pandemic restrictions. You get points in free stuff if you sign up and use your phone number each time you purchase stuff from them. You can pre-order the popular games that are coming out. You can also find some of the action figures in the bobble heads that go with the games. read more

The Game Stop is the place to go for all of your gaming needs. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had lots of questions about the Nintendo Switch and they were able to answer my questions. They have all of the different gaming consoles, games, accessories and etc. They sell new and used games. Used games are a couple dollars cheaper than new. All I went in for was an SD card, after not being able to find it I asked the worker behind the counter. He proceeds to just turn and look behind him to look at it as if I knew exactly where it was and didn't say anything. Then hounds me for any phone number linked to a GameStop account. None of them which worked. Not a big deal to me, but don't push a customer for a number if they just say no. I don't go to GameStop much. To the over weight white guy working there. If you don't like your job, quit. Doesn't hurt to be a little more personable. You're just an asshole. read more

On November 19, at around 6 pm, I was helped by a white man with a ponytail who was wearing a Dragon Ball Z shirt. On my receipt, his name is William. My experience at this location was not pleasant because of an employee named William. While standing in line waiting to be assisted, he called for me. I went up, reciprocated his greeting, and asked for a wireless controller. While talking, he cuts me off and says, "the answer is no." I chuckled as I understood he was joking around. I make my request again, and he continues saying, "the answer is no," another 2-3 times. I ignored his immature behavior and continued, wanting this trip to be in and out. As he was ringing me up, he asked if I wished to get a warranty for my controller. I declined the warranty, and he was visibly upset and was super pushy with wanting me to get the warranty, even after declining a couple of times. After listening to him offer a warranty profusely, I jokingly responded with "the answer is no." He looks at me with a stern glare, whispers something under his breath, and gives me a snarky response: "don't blame me if your controller ends up getting the drift." Again, I ignored his behavior, reached for my item, and walked off. When reflecting on the situation, I realized he was being super disrespectful. I returned five minutes later to obtain a refund on the controller, and that is when he started being nice. GameStop, please find employees that are kind to customers and respect their decisions. We do not need William, who is rude to customers during checkout, to ruin our gaming experience. The location in Waikele is way better in customer service. Avoid this GameStop. read more

I no longer want to support GameStop at Kapolei. I went to get a used Nintendo switch with my girlfriend and asked William about the Nintendo switch. He seemed friendly at first but became very pushy when pitching the pro membership to my girlfriend and got annoyed with us when we declined it and the warranty. Came back to buy a pre owned video game and he seemed very annoyed at me when I asked about the game and he mentioned the pro membership to me again and I declined it and he seemed even more irritable with me and the other customers in the store. I couldn't even look at him when he was talking to me because he gave me such a negative attitude. I used to love this location and their staff. I feel very hesitant to want to shop here again. One of the nicest Gamestops I've been to on island. Much larger, and less claustrophobic than the other locations too. Stopped by to check if they were taking reservations for the Collectors edition of Cyberpunk 2077. Unfortunately they weren't, but the women helping me was very helpful and polite when breaking the bad news to me. Though I didn't buy anything, I was happy with my visit to this location and would come again if I was in the area. read more

Went in yesterday 3/30/21 asking about an xbox series s &x. Figured they wouldn't have any new systems available. Told me they had a couple of Preowned series s at another location. I fallowed with asking how much they cost. The employee I was talking to told me $385.00. At first I thought maybe I looked at the Microsoft website wrong cuz I thought they were 299.99 Went back to my car looked again and yep the xbox series s was $299.99. Needless to say I'm officially done with GameStop. Thought only had to worry about private party sales buying them up and selling them for more money. Guess retailers are doing the same. This GameStop in Kapolei Shopping center sucks! No customer service there what so ever! They are unfriendly (stuck up) and give the wrong information. Wasted my time going there based on the WRONG information they gave me today. I'd rather go to Walmart, target, or any other far drive gamestop to buy my games. i went to this gamestop to return a controller that wasn't working. I called ahead and she had an attitude, I was telling her what happened and the only things she said were "mhm" and "okay?" I asked her if she had the same controller in stock so i can replace my controller that wasn't working, she said "mhm." so I go down their to get the controller, she tries to give a controller grip and i tell her I don't want that and she just rolls her eyes at me. turns outs they didn't even have the controller in the first place, very irritating and time wasting experience. read more

I purchased a electronic item at your gamestop in kapolei. I came there because you're the only store that have the one item that I needed when I got there. I spoke to the manager and she said that I can return it at any time providing. I try keeping it in the same original Box and I have the receipt so I went there today. To try to return the item the sales lady behind the counter said nope you only have 15 days. I said OK what about what the manager told me ? She said It doesn't matter what she said on the receipt. It tells you 15 days.  So I got highly upset when I walked away. I asked her if she can get a touch with the manager. She said no so then I said so what's the store is  burning down? I was planning on driving from the east side to this store to buy a specific game I wanted however the online app and product check is always wrong so I wanted to call first before driving ALL THE WAY down there... but the phone number listed EVERYWHERE doesn't work.. it either rings forever then has a machine that asks you for a passcode... or just a busy dial tone... this is INCREDIBLY frustrating, I work in retail and I know how customers feel when you don't answer the phone in a timely matter and understand if your super busy but not having a working phone number listed everywhere including the GameStop website is ridiculous... I waited in line for half an hour. There was only ONE customer being helped while the other worker which was on the phone calling people. As if there wasn't 5 other customers BEHIND me in line while there was others in front of me too. I think she could have helped out & at least try to multi-task so we weren't waiting soo long. This is my go to Gamestop. I have major respect for the proper care and thought that the Store Manager Sam and her crew put into doing their best and helping every customer. It's rough right now with COVID going around but their taking care of following all procedures and making sure people are wearing masks in store. Went to game stop after hearing about mainland stores doing walkins for the PS5. The cashier (Sam) said they were only shipping to mainland addresses. So I left the store to find an address to mail it to, but by the time I went back to into the store with a mainland address the system was telling them to "try back later". So they allowed me to leave my name and number and they would call me if it became available again. About 20 minutes later I got the call and I rushed back to the store and scored myself a PS5! The worst Gamestop I have ever shopped in. The staff here are extremely rude, condescending, and lie to the customers. My family and I went in and we attempted to purchase 3 used xbox games for the buy 2 get 1 free promotion. Gabriella who was supposed to ring us up lied and said that the promotion was but 3 get 1 free (lie #1). Gabriella then told us that all clearance games were completely brand new sealed and unplayed (lie #2). Gabriella PUSHED the warranty on us over 3 times, non-stop telling us we are making a huge mistake not getting 3 dollar insurance for our 5 dollar games. She told us we couldn't return anything to the store for any reason unless we buy the warranty (lie #3). She then told us all used games were complete including manual (two were missing from the three we bought) (lie#4). And on top of this she wouldn't listen to anything we tried to say, constantly cutting us off and avoiding eye contact when asked to explain her wrong answers on the promotions. Gamestop offered a reward program to collect points and get rewards. Okay I'm only writing this review now because I was writing a review about another gamestop and It reminded me of this horrible experience I had at this gamestop. I went into this gamestop to ask the employee when Halo Wars was coming out because I saw a poster of it somewhere with no release date. He looked at me all puzzled then replied very sassy "Ive never heard of it. You must be mistaken for Halo 3." ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Halo 3 came out in 07', why would I be asking that now?! What happened to all the nice friendly KNOWLEDGEABLE gamestop workers?! They are not here. Gah!! Instead of trying to make me look like an idiot, why don't you put down your ego and pick up your damn release book and look it up. Or ask someone. Sheesh. Right after he said that, I just looked at him shook my head and walked right out. I ended up calling a different gamestop for the answer. First time here. I was reading the reviews and I was hesitant about coming here but since I was in the area and didn't want to drive to my normal GameStop in Kunia. Went in and was immediately greeted. Came around 1 hour before closing time. So kinda expected to get a dragful experience where the associates wanted customers out lol. However, I didn't get that here. Surprisingly there was all guys that's work at this location, I'm not sexes but I just make friends with girls easier. Anyways, I was looking for games for myself and my other half. About 5 mins in just looking around, an associate gracefully came up to me and asked if I was doing okay and wanted some help finding what I was looking for with a big smile. It took me back for a second and was shocked. In my head, the reviews on here said otherwise but what I experienced wasn't any rudeness or anything. However yes the reviews on here were old but now I'm writing a better review. So I started to ask a few questions and it didn't take long for him to be very knowledgeable and very helpful. Talked to him about 10 mins on what I was wanting and looking for. Showed me what was best for me to play and the differences of certain games. I do apologize again on knowing names. I'm such bad at this lol..... Went to the register and was helped from another guy, I'm guessing he was a supervisor or someone higher than a associate. Was quite awkward cause he was hardly talking to me but at the same time his tone of voice was just monotone to the point where it was a little rude I guess. He asked me that some of the games that I'm getting is the last one and if it was okay for me and I just smile and said I don't mind. I'm giving this store a 4 for two reasons. Usually there service is not that good and when they buy games back it's usually a rip off. That deserves 2 stars. However the employee named STORM was EXTREMELY Helpful, friendly, and had a lot of knowledge/insight on the games. She wasn't rude or pushy and she actually gave us very good game suggestions. We had an awful experience at GameStop which left us with a sour taste in our mouth. Went in to trade in some of our old systems and games. Remember the days when you could turn in your Game Boy or Wii and get a decent amount for it? Yeah, not anymore. Now a days GameStop has employed stringent guidelines for what is and is not accepted and the condition it must be in for refurbishment/resale. It is almost ridiculous to me that the handful of games for Xbox 360 was worth more than our Playstation 3. The employee said our controller joystick was loose, causing the curser to move uncontrollably, thus voiding the trade in. He basically said "Yeah, this doesn't work" Uhhhh...okay, then how come we just watched Netflix on it last night?! Furthermore, after we had traded in all of our loot and collected $40 for what HAD to be worth twice as much, the employee asked what we wanted to do with it. We quickly said "Playstation 4 please!" "I'm sorry you guys, we're out" WTH?! Ok this is absolutely ridiculous because the store had 18 (and we counted) 18 boxes advertising the PS4, but all of them were empty! We asked them about this and why they would mislead the customer by thinking they had a large supply to which they replied "yeah, we can get in a lot of trouble if we don't display those boxes." SMH. Take my advice: Sell your things on craigslist, offer up, the swap meet - ANYWHERE but here, and you will get more bang for your buck. Make sure you call to find out if your system or game is in stock, as they will do anything to lure in the customer with their false advertisement. read more
