This place is trash! Everytime I call, no on answers, OR they pick up, put you on hold, then never pick up again. Last night I called to ask what time the open. Was told 10am. Avoid this location if you expect your paid warranties to be honored. My son brought in a controller under warranty last Sunday and was given a pre-owned replacement. It started malfunctioning, so we brought it back today within the store's stated 7-day return window. The assistant manager Angelina (who initially claimed she was the store manager) refused the return, claiming the serial number on the controller didn't match the bag. Instead of recognizing that her own staff failed to check the numbers when they handed it to us five days ago, she openly accused us of lying and switching out the merchandise, stating 'people do funny things.' She was incredibly rude, hostile, and completely out of line talking to a customer that way in front of a crowded store. After looking at other reviews here, it's clear I'm not the first person she has pulled this exact scam on. Corporate and customer service have been contacted. Save yourself the headache and go to a different location where the staff is competent and doesn't insult paying customers. read more

Store assistant manager, Angelina is the worst!!!!! Refused a return 1 day after it was purchased. Tags are still attached, had the receipt, and she said it was considered a "collectible" and couldn't be returned. SHE WAS CONDESCENDING AND RUDE!!! I have worked in retail for many years and I would never refuse to give out the store manage's name. We have escalated this to corporate not just Gamestop customer service and are hoping for e resolution soon. If needed, we will seek legal counsel as their return policy violates consumer purchase /refund laws. read more

Wow, I haven't been in a GameStop store in over 10 years. First time coming back, I was welcomed and treated like their own. Ken and the rest of the staff are very informative, recommendations were great. Just what I was looking for. Became a pro member today and totally worth it! Will definitely be coming back! This store is off the 111 highway off auto center drive . La Quinta,CA . Upon entering I was greeted by Victoria . She is a real gem, she was so knowledgeable & detailed oriented. She listened to all my questions and answered them! I bought an I tunes card . I love have this store has a variety of game cards , it make it real easy for gifts ! This store is super friendly & very helpful! It's highly clean & organized! This store has many things from video games to funko pops, toys & collectibles! There price values are on point. My husband has shopped at GameStop since before I met him (16 years ago) honestly, I love going here before Christmas because I find the most random awesome gifts I could think of! For instance... last year I even got a mandarin helmet that matches his Disney Jedi robe! It was great! This year... not so great. I went in to get a video game that my husband had held in advance.... When the game came out we were in a situation where we couldn't afford to pay for the rest of the game so we had to leave it on hold. I tried to pick it up for him right before Christmas and was informed that because he held it a few months ago it was no longer available and they had to sell his copy. I was understanding about the situation and picked up a board game that I thought he would LOVE. I peeled the sticker with the price tag off, but When I peeled the sticker off the cellophane wrapper tore, so I removed it, I kept the receipt just in case. Long story short.... It's a RIDICULOUS board game and would take WAY too long to play, so we joked he would get $50 to spend at his favorite shop.... NOPE! Because the sticker tore the wrapping we can't return it! AND the cherry on top?!? The manager called my husband a liar in front of the entire line that was waiting to make returns! I can understand the policies... I CAN NOT understand the unprofessional and over emotional behavior from the "management" team aka the teenage girl with tattoos and face piercings. what did I expect? The prices were pretty much market on everything except do not buy the charizard upc it was almost $65 more than current market and the staff were pretty good except for one guy with a red beard who didn't help at all and just was calling someone while we were literally about to check out but apart from that it was a good experience read more

I just wanted to trade in my consoles and there is one associate working, line is damn near out the door and I'm waiting at the front of the line for 20 minutes. When another associate finally clocks in the trade in system goes down. This is why GameStop is going out of business and people are shopping online or digitally. Complete waste of everyone's time. I am not happy with this site he kid was very nice but he charged me for a renewal that I NEVER agreed on I have an acct because my x used to shop here but I never play games I was buying a gift card and a couple of sonic toys for my 7 yr nephew and he charged me 19.99 for a renewal didn't even ask me if I wanted it and GameStop will not refund me for it I'm fureous because they won't refund me I'll never go there again and everyone should check their receipts to make sure they aren't charged for something they didn't want. read more

Visited today twice! First time was super friendly and great visit, seemed like the person helping me was the manager or doing a very good job at it. Made sure to sign me up and told me about the trade in for consoles, now I am coming back to trade in my consoles and controllers. Just to be told that one of the employees had gone on his lunch and would not be doing trade in for the rest of the night. Honestly was super sad and just walked out. I drove from palm desert to la Quinta store because they close at 10pm while other locations close at 9pm. It just leaves a sour taste in my mouth coming back to GameStop for anything. But honestly by far the best experience. They helped me with items and knowledge on returning my ps5 with humor and openness unmatched to others . Fire the whole crew (except for Andrew) AND the manager! They have no idea how to provide customer service or honor sale "flukes" caused by GameStop. They had me drive back and forth between two different GameStops... and had to wait 30 minutes in-store before fixing ONE shirt exchange! It's your average GameStop. There is a high schooler behind the counter providing poor to adequate service, and decent variety of new and used games. Sometimes you get a great deal...other times you don't. Other than the various location sizes, and a direct correlation to their inventory based upon the store size, there is no real difference between them. If you want a quick trip for a video game this is the place to go, particularly when you know what you want and don't want to deal with a big store like Best Buy or Fry's. read more

Super friendly customer service! My son was trading old gear for new. The sweet girl that was helping us went above and beyond to help! She spent extra time looking for me in the computer (somehow my membership info was difficult to locate) and look up "trade-in" prices for us. All of this with professionalism and a smile! let me preface with the fact that I did not go in on Christmas Eve with my husband to buy the purchase of which he made. I've never purchased anything from game stop before. However, I just went in with him to take back a product that did not work. Apparently you can't get store credit or your money back. We had to do a straight exchange. I find that to be a terrible policy as we did not ask to buy a defective product. Not only that, but the product was on sale by more than 5 dollars and they wouldn't give us store credit for difference. What a horrible way to run a business. Horrible experience with this store! I know today was release date for the ECCC Exclusive Funko Pops.. this morning around 8am their website allowed me to order the He-Man Funko and let select store pick up at this location... I was like cool no need to go wait in line... 10 min after placing my order I receive an email confirming that my order is ready and set aside for me, with a confirmation number. So I walk in 10min after opening 10:10am and let the manager know I'm here to pick up an order I placed online. He then goes on his computer and tells me sorry your item was sold.... WAIT WHAT?!?!? Why and How??? He then tells me that he sold all those Funkos to people in line... I then tell him that's not fair if it's own website allowed me to buy it online and select pick up at store... Im in sales so I know he probably doesn't get credit for online orders and decided to sell them in store to get credit. I'm super frustrated... I didn't even get a genuine apology from the manager... I'll be sending up this complain to corporate office and will never purchase another item from this store! read more

Matt is the manager of the La Quinta store. He takes pride in his store and his job. He is incredibly helpful, knowledgable and professional. It was a chaotic half hour - he was the only one working. The phone rang three times and I watched him answer each caller's questions patiently and intelligently, while helping me and my son with trade-ins. There were people in line behind me and people still filtering in through the front door. He managed to greet them and apologize for the wait, all the while making everyone feel like they were important and appreciated for being at GameStop. I ordered an HTC Vive from this gamestop during a pro members event, but they didn't have it in store. If we would have ordered it, it wouldn't have come with the $100 steam giftcard offered during the event. The manager was nice enough to have it ordered in from a different store to preserve the giftcard deal. Excellent service! read more

I often visit GameStop when I looking to add another game to my Xbox 360 collection. As was in there the other day looking to buy a new game and was glad to see that they had a great selection of used games at a great price. Plus there staff were very helpful on giving the information for which I was interested to know about the new systems like Xbox One, which I am thinking on purchasing. If you looking to buy a video game then definitely check out Game Stop in La Quinta. Their staff really wants to get you what you need, plus inform you on what's new. Absolutely the worst! My husband and I went last night and bought a pre owned Xbox one... The sales associate Brandon helped us... He was fine but we were sold a system we didn't even get a chance to look at. He took all of our information and such and we were on our way. Well, 475.00 later game included... We got a defective system... So, we took it back and I guess ALL of our information wasn't correctly imputed... So my husband literally spent more than 2 hours in that store! They couldn't get their stuff together. To top it off the sales guy that helped him told him "excuse me, I haven't slept in like 18 days" really?! Is that why it took so long? The only reason we bought pre owned is because we wanted to chose the game, instead of have what it came with... Wish we would have bought at best buy instead.
