I visited the Mohegan Lake GameStop to purchase the new Switch 2 Pokémon Edition and was helped by…read morean employee named Charles. While I understand that GameStop employees are expected to promote memberships and protection plans, the level of pressure felt excessive. Even so, I remained polite and declined the offers multiple times. What really bothered me was how Charles' attitude completely changed after I said no for the final time -- he went from friendly and upbeat to visibly annoyed, giving one-word answers and clearly losing interest in helping me. When I thanked him for the sale, he just said "mhm" and walked away without another word. It made what should've been an exciting purchase feel uncomfortable and awkward. I don't blame the sales process, but the customer service attitude afterward was disappointing enough that I don't plan to return to this location, and this really makes me rethink shopping at GameStop at all.

Normally GameStop would be three stars for me, but between customer service online (unrelated to…read morethis location), another location altogether, and now this one, I'm feeling generous at the moment. Most GameStops are stocked the same with the only differences being certain used game titles being in stock and some of the toys/collectables. Unfortunately, whenever a new platform comes out the older games start to get phased out but that has been a GameStop thing for a long time now. This location had a pretty good selection overall of titles from the 3 platforms I searched. Everything was organized, clean, and neat. The lone employee in the front was very friendly. Parking is plentiful, though keep in mind you're in the busy Cortlandt Town Center with a lot of bad drivers coming into this lot. With physical media unfortunately trying to get phased out, I'm not sure how much time GameStop has left to be sustainable, but it's still nice to go while we can. Overall a good location and one I'd visit again if in the area.

It's so difficult to write a review on a game store when I enjoy the concept however GamesStop…read moreshould not be in business. Their business practices are awful and their employees are rude and unprofessional. Every location I've been to it seems they just sit around and talk about topics inappropriate for a work establishment. Their customer service online does nothing to help you and makes excuses about everything. The prices are ridiculous compared to other stores. You can purchase brand new and digital copies elsewhere for the price of their pre-owned games. It's so nice to have a game store like this and it's sad they do what they do.

Typical GameStop location…read more Stock was pretty much what you'd expect, with the more popular systems given more wall space than others. Between new and not as new, the selection for games generally is better than other retailers (Best Buy, Target, etc) who have a more limited game library. The prices range, but sometimes you can find something for a decent price - other times a competitor (online or not) will have something cheaper than what's offered here. They do have decent promotions, especially if you're a member. Those buy 2 get 1 free for used games is good if you get a lot of games - but remember the cheapest one is the one you're getting free. If you're one of those people (like me) who don't want scratches on their game discs, you can always choose to see the disc before purchase. I've never had any issues with GameStop in general as far as used discs go. You can also sell your used games here, but be warned you're not getting a respectable amount back at all. They do have other things aside from games - some collectables and whatnot. Definitely nice to browse at the very least. The staff here were generally friendly. The employee on the floor was very courteous and friendly. The one cashier I had was slow, generic, and didn't seem to care about the long line. I mention the line because it was long and time consuming. While I do understand there are certain procedures to be done at the register and some customers do ask a lifetime of questions obliviously - there should be something done to minimize customer line waits. Perhaps one register can be done for simply quick ringing out and the other for all other matters. Just a suggestion. GameStop here shares the location with other businesses. There is plenty of parking and in this lot, I've never had any issues with finding a space - even during a busy time. All in all, GameStop is what it is. Can be a good deal if you're an avid gamer.
