I live in the Hudson Valley and wanted to find someone local to service my mechanical watches. I…read moretook one of my watches to Genters because I thought it would be better than sending it out to the manufacturer, I might get better communication & more personal response. Man, was I wrong! The owner, Keith Genter, looked at my watch and said he would order parts. He told me he would have the watch repaired in 2-3 weeks. After hearing nothing for 5 weeks, I called him (during his business hours) and left a message for him to call me about my watch. I got no reply, so I called again 2 days later. No reply. So I called again another few days later. Finally, after 4 more attempts, I got Keith on the phone. He never returned a call - he just happened to pick up that time. He then told me that he needed my input on which part I wanted him to order! Not only did he not ever call me to ask for my input, he wouldn't even return my repeated calls when he needed my input. I gave him the input he needed and he said he'd have the part in a week. 3 weeks went by with no call. So I went through the process again. This time it took 5 attempts to get him to call me back. When I asked him why he was not returning my calls, he said that my messages were "broken up" and that I must have been in an area with bad cell service when I left them (all 5). What's interesting about that is that I called him from a land line every time. So I asked him what the status of my repair was... he said he needed my input on which part I wanted him to order - again. After giving him another 5 weeks - and a total of almost 4 months, he had not done anything to my watch. I drove to his shop and asked for it back. At which time he literally slapped it down on the glass counter (no case) and said, "Here you go." I told him how disappointed I was with my experience, and the amount of time he took to do nothing - and his complete lack of communication or courtesy. To that he responded, "I've had some customer's watches here for over three years!" I guess that was supposed to make me feel better about the service I got? It was a ridiculous waste of time!

I've genuinely never seen a corporation handle their business practice with less care. This store specifically has absolutely tanked itself into ground, and I can only assume is hanging by a thread, based on its abysmal customer service. Not only has Michaels continued to try to completely gaslight us into believing that they haven't removed all of the prices from their products, despite the fact that they literally removed all the prices from their products. But they had the audacity to remove all of the price checkers from the store as well, in an attempt to drive us into the dark on what anything we're purchasing actually costs. Let's think for a second how absolutely insane of a concept that is, because who in their right mind is picking up a product with absolutely zero reference to what it costs? But let's dive further into that asinine practice shall we? because two shopping trips ago, I went in looking for food storage tins for the holidays, but since I had absolutely no idea what they cost, only grabbed two. Only to find when I reached the register they were far less than I expected, and that had I had the privilege of knowing the price, I would've bought 10. So in an attempt to play games with their pricing, wound up losing additional sales. Not to mention that somewhere down the line, the decision was made to buy out Joanne fabrics and offer about 1/16 of their merchandise. But it gets better, because never in the time since this buyout occurred, has there ever been a human being standing at the station where the fabric is actually cut. So all of those adjustments to fit the three spools of thread and five fabric options that we have to choose from, was literally rendered useless by the lack of human employees available to you. Standing in line for upwards of 15 minutes, to reach self serve registers of which only half are working, to scan a product that may or may not be anywhere near what you feel it is worth, whilst being completely unable to remove said product should you be unwilling to pay that price, only to be left standing at said register, waiting for assistance while one of the four employees in the store makes continuous eye contact with you, well aware that you need help, but passes you by for the third time, is not in any way close to an experience any customer should be expected to tolerate. I think this company greatly underestimates how willing I am to leave every single item I was going to purchase at the register, and walking out of the store. I'm sure I wasn't the first, and I know I won't be the last. After 20 years of shopping here, and countless dollars spent, I raise my glass to whatever company is next in line to shut it down and replace it.

An employee thought it was a good idea to place TWO carts of products directly in front of the "brown/ethnic" hair supply section of the store as if we didn't need to see and purchase these products. I had to move the carts to see the products and then retrieve the items I wanted. Meanwhile boxes are falling off the carts which is dangerous. An elderly couple came while pushing a lady in a wheelchair. She needed to see the products also. When they tried to push her through the isle, the carts and ceiling beam blocked her wheelchair so the elderly woman had to move the heavy, packed carts to get her friend's wheelchair out the aisle! As I put my products on the belt, Alexandra - store #4386, asked if I wanted a bag. She didn't speak to me at all. I said "hi" then she reluctantly said hello. When I worked for Dollar Tree, I was taught to speak to ALL customers. She also piled $55.00 worth of products in a single bag, making it heavy and on the verge of breaking, but she put the customer's items behind me in a double bag and the woman had less than 10 items.

Fortunately, one of the three people standing at the open register managed to take enough time out of his berating and belittling another employee behind their back to the other two employees at the register, one ringing one doing absolutely nothing, to call up another cashier who managed to move slightly faster than a paraplegic sloth. Three employees...standing at a register...one barely ringing because she's so involved in the conversation, one doing nothing but participating in the gossip and a third who is apparently a floor supervisor, belittling the work of one of his employees to subordinates and in front of a line of customers. One of the most disgusting displays of poor retail training and service that I've seen in years. And I was a retail manager, trainer and HR person for decades.
