I'm not a teenage boy (as far as you know), but I also think Disc Replay is quite neat. It has an amazing collection of used video games for a variety of platforms, like Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DS, Gameboy, Wii, and even games for systems that old heads like me were brought up on, like the original Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. The prices for these used games are suuuuuper good. Like, I was seeing price tags with $1.99 and $3.99 on them. We picked up a Plants vs. Zombies Nintendo DS game for $14.99, which according to my kid was a good price for a game he really wanted. They sell everything from refurbished Meta Quest VR headsets to Tamagotchi, which I didn't even know kids played still! Wow! A blast from the past. That's another thing: If you're a person of a certain age and you want to wax nostalgic about your middle school/high school years to the teenager you brought with you, visit Disc Replay. In the back of the store are aisles and aisles of used DVDs and Blu-Ray movies. My teenager asked me if this is what Blockbuster used to look like. Bless his heart. I said no and patiently described the wonder that was Blockbuster. Kids today just won't ever know; it's a dang shame. But thankfully, physical media is still a thing, and if you want to pick up a DVD copy of You Don't Mess with the Zohan, you can do that here. The people who work at Disc Replay are friendly and know their stuff. They answered our questions, and you can tell they don't only sell video games and movies, but they partake in this culture, too.

He was telling us about the setup of the store, deals the have and about their trade in policies (which are the states policy and super intense to stop stolen items from being sold. I had heard of Warhammer, but I didn't know an entire store could be dedicated to it. Indeed, an entire store can be dedicated to Warhammer! There are kits and mini figures, and paints to paint your figures, and tables at which to play the game, if you want. They have a lot of product in the store, but they can also order things for you, from what I remember. There are also some cool displays set up. I like mini things, so to see such intricate scenes set up is really fun, even if I have no idea what the context is in terms of game play. If you're into Warhammer, this is the place to be. And if you don't know about Warhammer but think it might be something you want to try, this is also the place to be because they will help you out here, and are very welcoming to newbies.

Syd, the door greeter with Jedi-level enthusiasm, and Solomon, the cashier who could probably talk a Sith into signing up for Insider points, guided us straight toward the 4x sets. And like good Padawans, we obeyed. We left with the Flower Bouquet (10345), the Pink Flower Bouquet (10342), the LEGO Space Shuttle Aircraft (10360), and the 747 Transport Plane. Nostalgia hit hard and our wallets didn't stand a chance. Somewhere in the distance, we heard the faint echo of "It's a trap," but our inner children were already doing victory laps. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly masters of their craft. Equal parts Jedi mentors and retail therapists. The whole experience was fantastic, even as we watched our adult restraint crumble into a pile of colorful bricks. Pre-COVID, Game Time was the premier MTG destination on the north side of Indianapolis. Double digit attendance weekly across multiple formats, Regional Qualifier events for the Pro Tour, the kind of competitive scene that made this place feel less like a local game store and more like a Jedi Temple for Magic players. I played in those events. I remember what this place was capable of when it was operating at full power. I came in on a Saturday for the MTG Hobbit prerelease event, which drew eight players. Eight. The play area that used to hum with the energy of a full Rebel fleet now has half its tables cordoned off indefinitely, like a wing of the Temple that nobody talks about anymore. It is noticeable, and it is a little melancholy if you were there for the golden era. That said, the eight of us who showed up had a genuinely good time. The event ran smoothly, the staff kept things moving, and cracking Hobbit themed prerelease packs at a table with fellow players is still one of the better ways to spend a Saturday regardless of headcount. The store itself remains worth visiting for TCG singles and sealed product. The collection is large, well organized, and if you are hunting a specific Magic card for any format, this is a reliable place to find it. The rewards program is solid and worth using if you are a regular. The staff is nice, knowledgeable, and treats you like someone who belongs there. Four stars for a store that was once the Death Star of competitive MTG in Indianapolis and is now rebuilding. The foundation is still good. Here is hoping the play area opens back up and the Rebel alliance returns in full.

My daughter sent me a second electronic gift card to spend on a book. So this trip was not my first…read morerodeo. I decided to go by the Noblesville, IN, location since I live nearby and browse the books. I found one that was really good. I take it to the front desk and walk to the first guy available. He rudely says I need to go to the other cashier who was already busy with another customer. I'm like OK. So when the other cashier was done and I told her that I wanted to purchase this book with a gift card; that's when I was forced into Barnes & Noble hell. The cashier apparently knew nothing about B&N policies, their gift card program, or even good customer service! Rather than go into specifics, this cashier tells me I could not use the gift card IN the store but had to use it ONLINE! I'm like what? You mean to tell me I have the book I want in my hand but I've got to go online to order it and pay shipping fees? She says yes and I thought she was absolutely nuts! It didn't make sense. So I press on telling this cashier I've done it before! She insists I couldn't use it in-store! I thought instantly my poor daughter who sent me the card was doing something nice for her dad and look at this stupidity! The cashier then consults the other rude cashier and he says thee same thing and I slam the book down and tell them I will NEVER shop at Barnes & Nobles again! The I call customer service for B&N and who do I get? Some Filipino 8000 miles away! I go home and do my research and nowhere on the B&N website does it say a customer can only use a gift card online. My experience at B&N changed my entire day! But while I'm on the subject of negative impressions of B&N, this new location is much smaller and there is a serious lack of place to sit and peruse the books! The chairs that are available are like those at the airport. Don't get up for a moment because someone is waiting and will take your seat since they are a hot commodity there! Also why is there a lack of technology magazines like the ones B&N used to carry? The magazine selection looks like the ones that used to be at CVS and other pharmacies! I will most certainly go ONLINE in the future to get my books. There are choices like Thriftbooks and Amazon available for my book buying rather than subject myself to the tyranny and very poor customer service of B&N.
