This is my first experience with Gamestop. I had been wanting to pickup Halo Reach (just finished Halo 3) and my wife was going to Target at Oakridge Mall. So I asked her if she could take a few of my old games for trade-ins and pick me up a used Halo Reach. When she got home she told me they gave her $2 bucks for each used game for a total of $6. I was expecting a little more, but they were old mediocore games so at least I got something. Next question was how much was Halo Reach? They charged her $34.99, used. That blew me away! I can buy Halo Reach brand new at Best Buy for $29.99! So those guys charged me $5 MORE for a used game as as a new one. I don't know if they were just ripping my wife off because she didn't know the market value or if that is their going rate. Either way I don't want to deal going to the mall during XMAS season to talk to them about it, but I do know I will NEVER go back to any Game Stop. read more

Came in to return a game that my son wasn't into, it was used cause the sticker was on the cover, the guy which has no gametag but he is a geeky white guy, says can't return it cause its new, uh hello the sticker on the cover says used, and only had for an hour. He didn't want to return it making it a bad experience for me and my kids, then he actually looks at cover then realize it says used game, what a as%&&**. This place is a joke - Hands Down i went in to buy a copy of NCCA football 2010. While I was in the store, I noticed they had a copy of a Game Stop ad that advertised a new copy of NCAA Football 2010 for $44.95. I asked if I could buy a copy and the manager looked at me and told me they didn't have anymore new copies, and I'd have to buy a used copy. I picked up a used copy, looked at the price, and it was $54.95. I asked the manager if he would honor the "new" sale price of $44.95 for the used copy. He gave me a deer in the headlights look and said "now why would I do that?" Ummmm...I dunno...maybe because it's used, and I'm willing to pay the same price for it that the store was advertising for it new. If these retards would grow half...no check that...one quarter of a brain, maybe they'd actually sell more inventory, and make more money. Kudos to Game Stop for hiring such bright, intelligent, and friendly people! I'll never shop at one again. read more

I exchanged a game today, used for used. The "system" didnt have my gamestop account info so I couldnt get the 10% off I am entitled to even though all info was on the receipt. Whatever, just an extra $1.50 and I was told that if I go to another gamestop they can fix it. I get home, pop in my game and......wont load. I take a closer look at the disk and found a detergent like substance all along the rim. I am so tired of going back to return broken merchandise. This has happened with a ps2 controller (encrusted with dirt/mud), a gamecube (machine didnt work and the a/v cables were destroyed) and about 50% of their games. Always a gamble with them but I guess thats why its easy to return stuff. It sucks that I am always asked to join their stupid club for $10 then when I do I cant get the discount it comes with. read more

This Gamestop is small and by far this is the smallest that I've been to! Those carts with the 14.99 9.99 etc used games in the middle makes it hard for people to get through. Isn't that a fire hazard? They should have stayed at that temporary spot which is now the tuxedo shop read more

I remember buying a Playstation 3, and about 1 week later i tried to get my money back for it I paid 380.00 plus some discounts to lower even more, this was when the Ps 3 was 399.99 they told me i couldn't give it back and it wasn't possible to get a refund. they were so scripted, for example you can try calling this number " Ps3 manufacture " they said in some instances they heard about the manufacture giving back the money for there units. If i had known this was going to be a big problem, I would have bought my PS3 at costco so i can get my money back within the first 14 days or even 30 days... I emplore all people to not buy any consoles from this store. if you're going to buy new buy from costco or anywhere else where you can get you're money back within 30 days or so. TERRIBLE SERVICE! This is my local Gamestop. Went in to purchase a case for my PSP Vita. Found a nice one for $14.99 while also renewing my Game Informer subscription. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable if you have product questions, most are gamers. I don't like their trade in values, feel they give too little and charge too much. Sometimes a used game is only $5 less than a new one. Its nice how you can tell which store has inventory prior to purchase if you click pickup instore. This store is located in Oakridge Mall next to Target. Parking can be a problem at times, especially on weekends. read more

This rating is for customer service. A mom (me) and her 12 year old daughter come in looking for a particular game for her DS3. We find a used one for $25, and upon bringing it to the counter, the nice man looks it up and tells us this game is on sale, for new, at $10. Although he didn't have one at this store, he offers to call the location (literally, across the street) to see if they have any in stock. They had one left, and he asked they put it on hold in my daughter's name. We go over after lunch, about an hour and a half later, and she walked in, asked for the game on hold in her name (I was waiting outside the car) and lo and behold, it was hers. Such a nice, helpful employee, not just trying to make a buck (do they work on commission? I think not, but still) and helping out a couple of chicks instead. Thank you, sir. So, either we got the one good employee, or they have listened and read the reviews on poor customer service, and things have turned around here. Bravo, GameStop. read more

Haha Went here the night of my birthday to pick up DJ Hero - Renedgade Edition for the PS3. They were close-by, still open, and definitely had one in stock. So I went in, asked for the game, picked it up off the floor, paid, and went home. Couldn't have asked for a smoother transaction. Can't comment on the staff much since I didn't want to stay to chat. I can't believe the experience I just had. I went to a GameStop by my house and they said blossom hill had "1" snes Classic in stock. My wife and I decide to drive down and when we get to the store, the guy working the front said they had one but it is only for someone that might have one of the systems go bad. Made no sense. I am someone that bought a lot of games from GameStop, now I understand why they are slowly going out of business. I'll never be buying from GameStop again. If I could give a ZERO I would. James is a MANAGER...OMG horrible. He is rude. He made a mistake and gave us the wrong pre owned game. I was at home when my son told me so I went back out. I was told i could go to any game stop but wrong...I had to go to that one. in my house slippers I went back into the Mall and James has the nerve to try and ban me because I tell his coworker that I was sorry he works with someone like him. Not once did JAMES try and apologize for his error. He tells me its a video game "get over it" really...so my time doesn't matter. if it wasn't for Devante at that store being kind and understanding, I would have flipped out on James. Devante took care of my return/rebuy gave me a discount and insurance on my sons game and apologized for an error he wasn't even there to make. JAMES COULDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE. Do not buy from them. I bought a PS3 by mistake and wanted to return it the next day. Would not accept the return saying its the policy of any electronic store. They are bald faced liars. When I tried to make my case, they called the police. Now I just lost 500 dollars poorer and wasted a evening making a case with these joekers. Buy your gaming needs from Costco or Frys. My son has dragged me in here twice so far when going to Oakridge Mall. The workers there are always reallly nice and hepful. Their prices seem reasonable. My son was able to take home a used 2K13 for only $4.97 and I think that's pretty good. The store is pretty small but there's plenty of games to look at in there. read more

Excellent Experience with the help of Mr. Eric Walsh! I recently helped at a senior citizens winter walk event held at the Macy's Courtyard. I needed to stop by a Game Stop and thankfully there was one in the mall. Eric Walsh greeted me and several customers at the door. He was very friendly and a perfect example of what a store representative should exemplify. I have seen Eric at the Hamilton store (when it was open) and at both stores Eric has been very passionate about providing the best customer service experience. read more

My son said this location has all the games, and I believe him. They have more games than any location of the franchise. Not much to say about a video game retailer except two things here. Make sure you know what your child is buying. They will sell a rated "M" game to a minor, I know because my son bought "Resident Evil 5" while I was in the car waiting for him. I am a parent who does not mind it, but another parent may want to be warned. The good point is this location has a great variety of games. Skip the location in the mall across the street and avoid the people. This place will give you all your gaming needs. read more

I purchased a new PC game from a different GameStop location. By the terms on their receipt they're not required to take the game back probably because of piracy concerns. Unfortunately as soon as I got the game home and tried to use it it was defective. The copy protection scheme that Activison uses is incompetent and even though my system met every single specification on the box the game would run. I figured I'd give it a shot and took the game into the GameStop here. The manager had to be brought over because it was a PC title, but after listening to me explain it was defective my money was refunded. They did offer to replace the title, but it would have meant a 60+ mile round trip to get to a store that actually stocked it (and who knows if that one would work), so I opted for the refund. It means a great deal to me to be treated fairly and not as a criminal. You don't find that level of customer service and a lot of the businesses around. I'd highly recommend the store! I'd also highly recommend never purchasing Activision PC software because you've got a good chance of getting screwed over with nothing you can do about it. I can only assume Activision must really want people to pirate their stuff since they make it so hard on their paying customers, but pirates are happily playing their games with no issues. read more

I have been shopping at GameStop since I found out about it back in '05. Had no problem what so ever at any of them and I have been to all of them here in San Jose and in Gilroy. However when I went to this one all was casual until I asked the receptionist a question to which he answered rudely and sarcastically. I paid no attention to it as I know there is idiots in this world. Moreover when I picked up my copy of Black Ops 2 the same receptionist again decided it would be a good time to make a funny/sarcastic comment....now that's two times next time I go I better not receive any of them or there would be trouble. Epic customer service fail. My wife took my son here to buy some games. My son specifically asked if a certain game could be played on his console. The woman "helping" him told him "yes". He gets it home, opens the package, and finds out that it will not play on his console. He can't return it because it is now open and used. So, I email corporate. I get a response from them saying that they have passed it along to the district manager for action. They get a +1 for that feedback. Several days go by, and I hear nothing. So I follow up again. I get a response saying that "they it is an internal matter, and not to expect any follow up". They get -100 for that one. Epic fail. As long as they have your money, they care little for customer satisfaction - from the local store all of the way through district and corporate offices. My advice? Avoid Gamestop if you can. Find another outlet to buy and sell used or new games. You will be much better served. read more

I always feel like I am purchasing a used car when I leave this location. I cannot determine if they are envious of the mall across the street or not. Yesterday's experience was as always....quick, unemotional and unsatisfying. Awful customer service. Trust me, I don't expect A-level customer service from a place like this. I set the bar pretty low, and they still disappointed. I reserved an item for in-store pickup on the Game Stop website, and never received an e-mail confirmation. I'm well aware this store is not responsible for the corporate website or how it's run. But they certainly are responsible for their end of the process, which is receiving the notification and filling the order. I called the next day to ask why I hadn't received an e-mail confirmation. Brandon (or Brenden, something along those lines) I believe was his name, and he was no help. To be fair, he wasn't really heinously super rude. He just didn't seem to care or have any decent answer for anything. I was told the item I had chosen was not allowed to be held at the store. Perhaps the store policy doesn't allow me to call them and have them hold something. But I assured him that the company's website allows items to be held for pick up. He said this didn't apply to the item I wanted. I offered that the website allowed me to. Okay, this was a dead end. So I moved onto asking, why couldn't they have called me or e-mailed me to let know? He said they never received the e-mail. He said it could have gone into their spam folder. I tried to explain how it would make no sense for an e-mail from corporate to go into their spam folder, and that even if it could and they were aware this was a possibility, shouldn't they be checking their spam folder? Please note, I asked these questions very politely and not in a condescending fashion. Truly. If anything, I was almost pleading with this guy. Anyway, this guy didn't make one attempt to even superficially try to smooth over the situation. Bought grand theft auto 5 and the disc stopped working and I called ahead but when I brought it in they exchanged it out without hesitating and they have great customer support. This is a bit farther than my local one at Camden and union but they don't take care of me like this one because they aren't very good. read more

Never go to gamestop again. I was coming in to return a new game that I bought for 40 bucks. They said I could only get 20 bucks for it because it was open. I had it for only one day!!! I kept the game but the people there weren't cooperative and didn't care. This place is horrible. Never buy a new game from them only buy used (so you can return it). They don't deserve your business. Never buy a game from there I won't. I would recommend going to best buy instead. Overall they we're mean and didn't let me return my game. read more
