The one I…read morehad initially found through Wedding Wire was making me feel uneasy and worried as to whether or not she'd show up on my wedding day (she did not email me contract information for a week past when she told me she would because she'd thrown her back out...how was I supposed to feel confident that she'd be healthy on my big day if she couldn't even send an email??) I was stressing out big time that I hadn't found someone, so I contacted my fabulous wedding coordinator (see my review for Eventful Days - Jill Guiomar), and she recommended Lucy-Zayne. I feel so incredibly grateful to the makeup artist who made me feel uneasy, because if all of that hadn't happened, I never would have found Lucy!! Lucy was quick to respond to my voicemail inquiry, and we set up a makeup trial shortly after the call. The trial went wonderfully, and Lucy was so easy to talk to. She'd asked me for photos before the trial of my dress, my earrings, how I was planning to do my hair, and also examples of makeup styles I was going for. She executed the look I wanted perfectly during the trial, and I had the utmost confidence in her on my wedding day! Her prices were extremely reasonable as well (especially for the Bay Area which can be outrageous). Communication with Lucy was fantastic throughout the weeks leading up to my wedding. She even emailed me to let me know she was going to be out of town for a wedding a little before my wedding, so she might be hard to get a hold of on her travel days. Anyone who has gotten married knows there is nothing like great communication and setting expectations when it comes to wedding vendors! Lucy was one of the best communicators I had among all my vendors. Lucy showed up to the hotel right on time the morning of my wedding. She got two and 1/2 of my bridesmaids (one just got lashes and a little unexpected, but appreciated overall makeup touch up), my mom, our two flower girls and me done with time to spare! Everyone looked beautiful!!! My mom and bridesmaids really enjoyed talking with Lucy while they were in her chair, and they were all really happy with their makeup. Lucy gave everyone touch up makeup kits to take with us so we could keep our makeup looking fabulous throughout the day and night. I can't tell you how many compliments I received throughout my wedding about my makeup, and they keep coming in from people who weren't at the wedding but have seen pictures. No one can tell that I only had around 3 hours of sleep the night before because of Lucy's magic! When the big day came and we had the details set from the beginning, everything came out looking even better. She specializes in a natural-but-enhanced look and really nailed it - I didn't feel or look like I was caked in makeup, I just looked like the absolute best version of myself! Trying to find pictures to include here I struggled to find ones that seemed like they were showing off the makeup - but that's kind of the point. The makeup wasn't super showy (exactly as I wanted), it just made me look really great in every picture! And this is from someone who often doesn't like pictures of myself. The final result was nothing like what I expected, and I was extremely unsatisfied. When I politely expressed that I didn't like the makeup look, she got visibly frustrated, placing her arm on her waist in an unprofessional manner. Any requests for adjustments were met with reluctance and annoyance. After deciding that I didn't want her to do my makeup but would still proceed with her services for my other family members, she canceled the contract herself. While she's technically not obligated to return the retainer fee, she told me she would -- but never did. That lack of follow-through was very disappointing and unprofessional. Also, be aware that her contract does not allow cancellations due to dissatisfaction within 60 days of your event, so if you're considering a trial, make sure to do it well in advance. I would not recommend her based on this experience.

My boyfriend's childhood friend who also happens to be a hairstylist in the San Ramon area told me to call nine two five salon. I called the Hayward location right away since I'm very familiar with them and have gone to them in numerous different occasions. I called and spoke with Rebecca from the Hayward location and asked if anyone can detangle hair in either of their location. She got back to me in less than 15 minutes and was able to find Madison for me from their Pleasanton location. I booked right away for a Thursday morning appointment and the rest was history. We showed up Thursday morning and Madison did her thing. One of my biggest appreciation for Madison is her compassion for my goddaughter. She saw the stress in her eyes and really wanted to help her preserve her hair. Madison communicated with both me and my goddaughter about the what-ifs and how she was gonna proceed in case she couldn't save her hair but she made sure that every step was explained. Madison was very patient and made sure she didn't stay in one area of her head because her head was going to be tender. Madison brushed out my goddaughters for as long as she could. Honestly, I think the whole process took anywhere from 10-13 hours give or take split between two days. Madison had to move her schedules around just to accommodate my goddaughter. The end result was amazing. My goddaughter was extremely happy and excited with her new hair. She showed it off to me and sent me a bunch of pictures overall being happy and thankful that I found Madison. So if you're looking for someone to do detangling on your hair or really anyones hair, Madison is your go to person. Her rate wasn't bad at all either. All in all, shout out to Madison, thank you for the patience and compassion you've put in on taking care of my goddaughter. I did a trial and Ngan worked with me to ensure I was comfortable with the final look, and it turned out exactly how I wanted--like my normal face, but prettier! My mom was originally planning on doing her own hair and makeup for the wedding, but after seeing how awesome my trial turned out, she decided she wanted to work with Ngan, too. And she's particular, so that says a lot! Ngan was so patient and caring with her, and very communicative and organized in the months leading up to the wedding. I think Ngan may have been a little flustered the morning of the wedding (there were 9 of us getting hair and makeup done and she had to manage 2 assistants and keep everything on track), but she hardly showed it and kept my nerves calm. She did forget one piece of my hairstyle that we'd discussed during my trial, and I didn't realize it until it was too late, but my hair still turned out beautiful and no one noticed any difference. She was a nightmare to work with during this process, resulting us firing her two weeks before the wedding. Every time we needed to change the date due to the pandemic, she would be rude in her emails and increase her pricing. I understand your pricing increases every year and that's fine, but there is no need to be rude. She is not very flexible in any means. We had to add two more services and I got push back for that too. I'm giving your more business and you're upset? My wedding planner said in her 15+years in her role she's one of the worse lady to work with. Originally, I thought maybe my requests was too much but I realized that my requests were reasonable and she was being unprofessional. It was unnecessary stress. Beware of pricing changes with her and also random fees that she makes up on the fly - that is not listed in the contract. I do not recommend working with her at all.

My makeup looked beautiful throughout all of my events. On the morning of my wedding, my mascara did run after a few hours during our first ceremony. We decided not to use mascara for my second ceremony that evening, and everything held up perfectly. I don't necessarily blame Raman for this since everyone's skin is different, but if you have oilier eyelids like I do, it's something worth discussing during your trial or before your wedding day. My hair was one of my favorite parts of my looks, especially for our Sangeet. I have very thin hair, and Raman and her team did a wonderful job incorporating the extensions I purchased to create fullness and volume. My Sangeet hairstyle was my favorite of the weekend! My final hairstyle wasn't quite as full as I had envisioned, especially since we had discussed my hair's thinness beforehand, but overall I was very happy with all of my bridal looks. There are just a couple of things I'd recommend future brides keep in mind when planning their timeline. For my wedding morning, we started my bridal hair and makeup on time at 5:00 a.m , but we still ended up running behind my scheduled ready time. Later that day, before my second ceremony, Raman also arrived later than expected, so we had to move through my makeup a little more quickly. Wedding weekends can be unpredictable, and I know timing doesn't always go exactly as planned, but I'd recommend building in a little extra buffer time if your schedule is tight. We also had Raman's team do hair and makeup for my immediate family. We had originally expected each appointment to take around 45 minutes to an hour, but some took over two hours, which unfortunately caused a few family members to miss important photos. Raman explained that part of the delay was because some people arrived with wet hair that needed to be dried first, so I'd definitely recommend making sure everyone's hair is fully dry before their appointment. I also think having a little flexibility in the order of appointments when some people are ready earlier could help keep the overall timeline moving smoothly. Because the morning ran longer than expected, my family decided to skip their scheduled touch-ups before our second ceremony because they were worried about falling behind again. We still paid for the touch-up services since the artists had reserved that time, but it was unfortunate that we didn't end up taking advantage of them. Overall, though, Raman is incredibly talented, and I truly loved how I looked throughout my wedding weekend. She was also very receptive when I shared my experience afterward, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely recommend Raman to future brides, especially if you build a little extra time into your schedule. Her work speaks for itself, and I felt beautiful on one of the most important weekends of my life.

After Raman agreed to hold the MUA until 5pm at 1:28pm, she said she Jassi wasn't available at 1:41pm. -------------------------------------------- I want to warn people about this vendor. I hired her for my wedding in 2024 and there were several things that she fell short on: 1. She forgot bobby pins to do my hair...on my wedding. She was my hired makeup and hair artist. So on the day of my wedding when its supposed to be a calm time, unfortunately I had to scramble to go and grab pins from my aunts home. 2. She let me know she would bring fresh flowers for my hair on my wedding day, she also forgot those on the day of my wedding. 3. She placed my small/medium tikka on my head, but unfortunately she did not secure it in a manner that a professional would. On my actual wedding day, when I was bending down to matha tek, my tikka popped off-- which was very embarrassing. 4. She was confused about where we were meeting on the day of my jaggo and for some reason thought that I would be coming to her in Livermore, even though my event was in Merced and we had already discussed that she would be coming to Merced. She was able to make arrangements to come to Merced, but it added additional stress. 5. She talked about herself throughout my hair and makeup, boasting about herself and complimenting herself 6. She asked me why do we need to start so early for hair and makeup on the day of my wedding, and then she herself made me 30 min+ late on the day of my wedding. The redeeming quality about her work is that she is able to work well on brown south asian skin, her skin makeup was soft and dewy (though my eyes were smudged before I even got to my ceremony...which is not normal for me). I am a person that really cares about skin with makeup so against my better judgment, I decided to hire her for myself and my mother for my brother's engagement. This was booked months in advance. Fast forward to May 2026, I get a call from Raman less than 24 hours before the booking. She tells me that her mother-in-law is not well so she won't be able to make it. Then she says she does have a "senior" artist who can replace her. I tell her I'm sorry to hear about the situation with her mother-in-law, I ask her who the senior artist is. She says her name is Jassi.... I asked her what her last name is and Raman said she didn't know. I then asked her if she has an Instagram and then she also said she does not have an Instagram or anywhere that I could see her portfolio. I told her I needed some time to think about it and Raman sent me some pictures that she claimed to be Jassi with no last name's work. (It gets worse) At so late in the game, I was already handling so many logistics for my brother's ceremony. I asked Raman to give me until five to get back to her. She obliged, though she was putting pressure on me stating that "Jassi" wanted to confirm ASAP because she was considering another client. I asked Raman to give me Jassi's contact information, and Raman said that it was too late because Jassi has already booked with another client due to "Jassi" not feeling comfortable because I didnt "trust her." All screenshots are attached. this happened within a matter of 20 minutes, so it's safe to say this is suspicious at best and a blatant lie at worst. Raman's contract states that she will provide a "senior" makeup artist in her absence, she wasn't even able to follow through on that. I took a look at Raman's social media, and I found what happened in reality is that Raman ACTUALLY booked a bride on the day of my event. So her mother-in-law was not ill, Raman actually just wanted to go with the booking that had more pay. I have attached the screenshots below of her working with the other client, multiple vendors also posted her working with the client on the day of my brother's engagement. That being said, I would be weary of this vendor. She is unprofessional and a liar, and no level of artistry can redeem that. The worst part of it all, is she charges luxury prices-- 1100 was what she charged 2 years ago for hair and makeup. Whats the point of charging luxury prices if you dont even have bare minimum professionalism and character? She is the type of person that gives MUA a bad reputation.
