Service is the worst. We are only in So Cal for the winter. Last year we had an estimate for a custom entry door. Since we had to go back east we couldn't do the door last year. I went in the other day and asked if they had a record of the estimate. The guy took my contact info , but essentially blew me off. Never got back to me. My first door was quoted at an acceptable price, but when I went back to order it the next day, the price increased substantially. This is a beautiful store, but unfortunately, we have not had the best experience with their "door department" sales people. We were ready to purchase high-quality sliding glass doors for our house as well as an entryway door. We even sat with Mark and went through all the paperwork and decisions. Unfortunately, after multiple calls and emails, Mark never got back with us to proceed with the job. We are going to look at a construction firm to help us out, but what a waste of time. MILGARD WINDOW AND DOOR BUYER BEWARE! I purchased $46,945. in Milgard Ultra series not to mention the install cost.. That included 5 sets of French doors. I have been unable to lock two of these sets of doors on 2 different occasions which presented an obvious security issue. The doors grind randomly when opening and sometimes require pulling handle in when locking and at other times there is no need to pull in. There is nothing consistent about these doors! I'm left wondering if they will lock or how to go about locking them every time I lock them. When deciding which brand to go with Scott, the window and door manager recommended Milgard and said they have a great relationship with them and they offer a great warranty. Unfortunately Milgard takes a long time to come out and fix any issues! The last person who came out said none of the doors were sealed right at the factory and he resealed them. Im not sure why the Milgard crews that came out prior to them didn't figure this out. I can still see day light through the top of one door if I lightly push on the top of it when it is closed. There is something definitely wrong with these doors yet they won't remove and replace them. At this point we are feeling like we need legal help with this as it is not ok to sell doors that randomly stop locking. read more

The only Ganahl lumber that I have NOT been talked down to or sexually harassed at. I received nice customer service and helpful employees. I will not go to any of the other Ganahl locations as the creepy men prey on women that are alone there. This Ganahl feels safe and new. It's worth the extra 40 minute drive to avoid the LAGUNA/NEWPORT location. I don't like cat calls and I do not like sexual "wood" jokes I was getting at the other locations. Ordered door hardware and it was supposed to be there in 2 days....after 2 weeks I canceled the order and they charged a 25% restock fee....and I never even received it. The paint department sold me 2 quarts of clear...I only needed one. Again a restock fee. Another door I had ordered and installed...a T.M. Cobb dutch door.....when I was talking to the rep in doors said..."I wouldn't have sold you that door...we have better custom made one's". Really??? They will not be getting my business. read more

The building is nice but the service is awful. They have staff that are not properly trained nor know nothing about construction and home repair. We ordered a window that was very over priced. The sales woman who helped with the order gave wrong information regarding measurements. The window took weeks to arrive. When it arrived to the store it was half unwrapped and unprotected. No staff helped us load window nor offered any protection for transport. It was the wrong size and they will not take back because we 'signed off on it". Horrible expensive experience. Horrible customer service. Been a customer for 30 years and spent a lot of $ remodeling homes over the years. I brought a caulking gun back as it did not work. I asked to exchange it with another type of gun. I did not have my receipt as it's caulking gun not power tool. The sales advisor was rude and conceited and said no receipt no help. So I left the defective gun there and walked out. I live in Dana Point and I will never go back there. I love this place! I found out they carry Benjamin Moore paint, which I planned on using. After several trips for more, I dealt with all of the paint staff, and they are really great. April in particular is amazing! So knowledgeable of paint and the BM colors. DIY'ers, don't be intimidated by the non retail vibe of parking and the setup of the property. They do deal with lots of contractors, but the staff is very friendly and welcoming to us regular folks. :) I recommend going the last hour or so of the day (3:30-5). It's a quiet time for them and perfect for quick paint runs and advice. Just reading over the few negative reviews--suffice to say, when you are impatient and treat staff (aka humans) like garbage, you probably ain't gonna get warm fuzzy customer service... . read more

GANAHL WILL NOT HELP YOU. THEY WILL PASS THE BUCK AND POINT FINGERS AT THE MANUFACTURER. Sloppy install WIN-DOR refuses to clean glue finger prints that Win-dor's install crew left on a window that is 25 feet off the ground. Making it impossible for us to clean ourselves. We just bought a brand new building that Win-dor supplied and installed the windows for. I have been trying since getting the widows professionally cleaned to have WIN-DOR or Ganahl lumber 34162 Doheny Park Rd Capistrano Beach, CA since they are who the windows were purchased from to send a crew to come clean the windows since it requires a boom lift to reach them. Both parties point the finger at each other or the builder of the building waving the 1 year warranty flag saying not our problem. But why would the building builder look for glue fingerprints after the install. Nor would they have the outside of the windows cleaned when they aren't that dirty. We were excited to buy the building so we had them cleaned so that we could look out our beautiful bay windows. The product is amazing and I have tried for weeks to get them to help me with this problem because I would love to use Win-dor products again but sadly both their customer service and their installation team are awful to deal with. I will never use this product again unless they make it right. I suggest you do not either because they will not help you. The warranty has nothing to do with sloppy installation I'm not asking them to replace the windows I'm simply asking them to send a crew to clean up the mess that they left. I think it's a very considerable ask, Especially considering the cost of these windows and doors. Our building has over 30 windows and doors that they installed and we are not complaining about all of them just the one that has the main view of the building with big sticky glue fingerprints. read more
