While in town I came here for breakfast one morning because their online website showed their breakfast pizzas and they looked amazing. I didn't have high hopes that mine would come out looking as beautiful as what the website showed though. I placed my order online and walked about 10 mins to the restaurant from my hotel. When I got there I told them I placed the order and they confirmed it was being made and they would bring it out when ready. I grabbed a seat and within a few minutes it came out, piping hot. When I opened the box, it looked AMAZING! Smelled so very appetizing too! The strings of cheese pulling off it when I pulled a slice were abundant too! It tasted GREAT! Coworker was getting 2 for $5 sausage and cheese biscuit sandwich deal from Gandolfos this morning so I gave it a try as well. Just a pickup order and it was ready when I got down there staff was friendly on pickup. They gave breakfast pizza slices ready in the morning as well I saw. Biscuits were soft and fluffy with the right amount of crisp on the edges. Nice and warm by the time I got to my office. Would definitely get them again. read more

If it says NY Deli in a place other than NY, I gotta see if it has the chutzpah to stand up to a real NY deli. Since the beef in Omaha stands out, I'm hoping that quality is in the pastrami. Since we were going home to NYC that day, I wanted to buy a couple of sub sandwiches for the plane ride (and for the smell of pastrami to fill the plane, while the other passengers just get chips, nuts & cookies to snack on ;). But we were getting hungry when we got to the airport, so we broke out our sandwiches in the terminal, ate half and saved the rest for later. The sandwiches were decent, but not outstanding. Quality seems like half way between Subway and a NYC neighborhood deli. My wife got the Corned Beef Reuben on marbled rye bread with melted swiss cheese, sauerkraut & spicy mustard. My Taxi Driver sub was OK with thin slices of pastrami, pepper jack cheese, onions and jalapenos. I was expecting the sandwich to be more stuffed though, but the taste wasn't bad. It's certainly no Katz's Deli, but it was good for an in-flight travel meal. read more

I went to this location for the first time after visiting two of their other Omaha locations previously and repeatedly. The experience at this one was a little lackluster compared to the othera in town. So, 4.5 stars here. The food is fantastic. Sandwich choices are great. I love the Taxi Driver - pastrami with jalapeños on sourdough. The restaurant was clean and service was quick. Parking is very tough at this location. We had to circle the block and park 2 blocks away. The food...the Taxi Driver was dry compared to what I had at their other locations. The bread usually has butter on it before being toasted, which gives the entire sandwich a total moistness, which this one was lacking. Overall, it's still the best sandwich chain in the area. Walked in right at opening so we were the only ones there. Service was fast and friendly. Our son, 13 months, loved all of the pictures on the wall and statues inside. For breakfast this was delicious, the Kaiser buns were so soft, the sausage was super tasty, after the sandwich sat in the wrapping for a few minutes the cheese melted to perfection. My wife also got an everything bagel which she claims was the best part, super soft and savory and the cream cheese on top was perfect. We were there on a Saturday around lunch hour and there was no one there but that could have been weather related, it was freezing out. The food was really good, the pizza was the best! I always have a hard time finding decent gluten-free bread in this place was actually really good for that. Inside the Paxton Hotel is a deli with a huge variety of great sandwiches. They come with lots of meat on fresh bread, hot or cold. The service was lightening fast. For the price and speed, this chain makes a great sandwich. The pastrami sandwich is close enough to taste and resemble that of a Jewish deli... it's that good. Today I had the Yonker's sandwich, and it was simply a great sandwich. Omaha lacks a good local deli, but this location fills the gap well. It's also well managed with nice and efficient staff. I've tried Gandolfo's a couple of times now and have always had a good experience and tasty food. Although it's not my go-to meal, my boyfriend is a sandwich fanatic and if he's grabbing a bite to eat, I'm usually tagging along. I especially enjoy the bagels and breakfast food here. I recently tried the Skyline bagel and liked it so much that I've been recreating it at home. I find Gandolfo's to be a bit on the pricey side for their subs but at the end of the day they are yummy and their location downtown is super convenient for us.
